Comandò adunque il re Sedecia, che Geremia fosse messo nel vestibolo della prigione, e che se gli desse ogni giorno un pane, oltre il companatico, fino a tanto che vi restasse pane in città: e Geremia se ne stava nel vestibolo della prigione. Geremia dato dal re nelle mani de' principi, vien cacciato in una fossa piena di fango, donde è ricondotto nel vestibolo della prigione, ed esorta il re, che si arrenda ai Caldei. Il re ordina a Geremia, che tenga segreto questo colloquio.
Ahora pues, oye, te ruego, oh rey mi señor: caiga ahora mi súplica delante de ti, y no me hagas volver á casa de Jonathán escriba, porque no me muera allí.
Therefore hear now, I pray thee, O my lord the king: let my supplication, I pray thee, be accepted before thee; that thou cause me not to return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there.
Now please hear, my lord the king: please let my supplication be presented before you, that you not cause me to return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there.”
