Jeremías 24

1Depois que Nabucodonosor levou para o exílio na Babilônia a Jeconias, filho de Jeoaquim, rei de Judá, os príncipes de Judá e os melhores artesãos e ferreiros, o Senhor me deu a seguinte visão: dois cestos cheios de figos estavam postos diante do templo em Jerusalém.
2Um dos cestos estava cheio de figos bons, maduros e bonitos, de dar água na boca! O outro também estava cheio, mas os figos eram feios, estavam estragados e não serviam para comer.
3Então o Senhor me perguntou: “O que você está vendo, Jeremias?” Eu respondi: “Figos. Alguns são muito bons, mas os ruins são tão ruins que não podem ser comidos”.
4Então o Senhor me falou o seguinte:
5“Assim diz o Senhor, o Deus de Israel: Os figos bons representam o povo que expulsei daqui e foi levado preso para a Babilônia. Eu mesmo os mandei para lá, para o seu próprio bem!
6Cuidarei deles com muito amor e os trarei de volta à terra de onde foram levados. Eu os ajudarei a crescer, em vez de castigar com a destruição. Eles serão plantados como árvores, e não os arrancarei.
7Darei a todos eles corações que saibam me reconhecer como Senhor. Eles serão o meu povo, e eu serei o seu Deus, porque voltarão a me obedecer de todo o coração.
8“Mas esses figos ruins, os estragados”, diz o Senhor, “representam Zedequias, rei de Judá, os seus príncipes, o restante do povo que ficou em Jerusalém e os que fugiram para o Egito.
9Eles serão desprezados por todos os povos. Aonde forem, sofrerão vergonha e zombaria; serão malditos em todos os lugares por onde eu os espalhar.
10Serão mortos na guerra; morrerão de fome e de doença. Mandarei essas coisas, até que sejam eliminados da terra que dei a eles e aos seus antepassados”.

1MOSTRÓME Jehová, y he aquí dos cestas de higos puestas delante del templo de Jehová, después de haber trasportado Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia á Jechônías hijo de Joacim, rey de Judá, y á los príncipes de Judá, y á los oficiales y herreros de Jerusalem, y haberlos llevado á Babilonia.
2La una cesta tenía higos muy buenos, como brevas; y la otra cesta tenía higos muy malos, que no se podían comer de malos.
3Y díjome Jehová: ¿Qué ves tú, Jeremías? Y dije: Higos, higos buenos, muy buenos; y malos, muy malos, que de malos no se pueden comer.
4Y fué á mí palabra de Jehová, diciendo:
5Así ha dicho Jehová Dios de Israel: Como á estos buenos higos, así conoceré la trasportación de Judá al cual eché de este lugar á tierra de Caldeos, para bien.
6Porque pondré mis ojos sobre ellos para bien, y volverélos á esta tierra; y los edificaré, y no los destruiré: plantarélos, y no los arrancaré.
7Y les daré corazón para que me conozcan, que yo soy Jehová: y me serán por pueblo, y yo les seré á ellos por Dios; porque se volverán á mí de todo su corazón.
8Y como los malos higos, que de malos no se pueden comer, así, ha dicho Jehová, daré á Sedechîas rey de Judá, y á sus príncipes, y al resto de Jerusalem que quedaron en esta tierra, y que moran en la tierra de Egipto.
9Y darélos por escarnio, por mal á todos los reinos de la tierra: por infamia, y por ejemplo, y por refrán, y por maldición á todos los lugares adonde yo los arrojaré.
10Y enviaré sobre ellos espada, hambre, y pestilencia, hasta que sean acabados de sobre la tierra que les dí á ellos y á sus padres.

1The LORD shewed me, and, behold, two baskets of figs were set before the temple of the LORD, after that Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon had carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah, and the princes of Judah, with the carpenters and smiths, from Jerusalem, and had brought them to Babylon.
2One basket had very good figs, even like the figs that are first ripe: and the other basket had very naughty figs, which could not be eaten, they were so bad.
3Then said the LORD unto me, What seest thou, Jeremiah? And I said, Figs; the good figs, very good; and the evil, very evil, that cannot be eaten, they are so evil.
4Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
5Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; Like these good figs, so will I acknowledge them that are carried away captive of Judah, whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans for their good.
6For I will set mine eyes upon them for good, and I will bring them again to this land: and I will build them, and not pull them down; and I will plant them, and not pluck them up.
7And I will give them an heart to know me, that I am the LORD: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto me with their whole heart.
8And as the evil figs, which cannot be eaten, they are so evil; surely thus saith the LORD, So will I give Zedekiah the king of Judah, and his princes, and the residue of Jerusalem, that remain in this land, and them that dwell in the land of Egypt:
9And I will deliver them to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth for their hurt, to be a reproach and a proverb, a taunt and a curse, in all places whither I shall drive them.
10And I will send the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, among them, till they be consumed from off the land that I gave unto them and to their fathers.

1The LORD showed me, and behold, two baskets of figs were set before the LORD’s temple, after Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, and the princes of Judah, with the craftsmen and smiths, from Jerusalem, and had brought them to Babylon.
2One basket had very good figs, like the figs that are first-ripe; and the other basket had very bad figs, which could not be eaten, they were so bad.
3Then the LORD asked me, “What do you see, Jeremiah?” I said, “Figs. The good figs are very good, and the bad are very bad, so bad that they can’t be eaten.”
4The LORD’s word came to me, saying,
5“The LORD, the God of Israel says: ‘Like these good figs, so I will regard the captives of Judah, whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans, as good.
6For I will set my eyes on them for good, and I will bring them again to this land. I will build them, and not pull them down. I will plant them, and not pluck them up.
7I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the LORD. They will be my people, and I will be their God; for they will return to me with their whole heart.
8“‘As the bad figs, which can’t be eaten, they are so bad,’ surely the LORD says, ‘So I will give up Zedekiah the king of Judah, and his princes, and the remnant of Jerusalem who remain in this land, and those who dwell in the land of Egypt.
