Jeremías 18

1Das Wort, welches an Jeremia vom HERRN erging, lautete folgendermaßen:
2»Mache dich auf und gehe in das Haus des Töpfers hinab, denn dort will ich dir meine Weisungen kundtun!«
3So ging ich denn in das Haus des Töpfers hinab und fand ihn gerade mit einer Arbeit auf der Töpferscheibe beschäftigt;
4und wenn das Gefäß, das er anfertigte, mißriet, wie das bei dem Ton unter der Hand des Töpfers vorkommt, so machte er wieder ein anderes Gefäß daraus, wie es dem Töpfer eben gut schien.
5Da erging das Wort des HERRN an mich folgendermaßen:
6»Habe ich nicht das Recht, wie dieser Töpfer da mit euch zu verfahren, ihr vom Hause Israel?« – so lautet der Ausspruch des HERRN. »Wisset wohl: wie der Ton in der Hand des Töpfers, ebenso seid ihr in meiner Hand, ihr vom Hause Israel.
7Einmal drohe ich einem Volke oder einem Königshause, daß ich es ausrotten, vernichten und vertilgen wolle;
8wenn dann aber das betreffende Volk, gegen das meine Drohung gerichtet war, sich von seiner Bosheit bekehrt, so lasse ich mir das Unheil leid sein, das ich ihm zuzufügen beschlossen hatte.
9Und ein andermal verheiße ich einem Volke oder einem Königshause, es aufbauen und einpflanzen zu wollen;
10wenn es dann aber tut, was mir mißfällt, indem es meinen Weisungen nicht nachkommt, so lasse ich mir das Gute leid sein, das ich ihm zu erweisen gedacht hatte.
11Darum verkünde nun den Männern von Juda und besonders den Bewohnern Jerusalems folgendes: ›So hat der HERR gesprochen: Wisset wohl: ich habe Böses gegen euch im Sinn und hege Unheilsgedanken gegen euch. Kehrt doch um, ein jeder von seinem bösen Wege, und bessert euren Wandel und euer ganzes Tun!‹
12Doch sie werden antworten: ›Vergebliche Mühe! Nein, wir wollen unsern eigenen Gedanken nachgehen und ein jeder nach dem Starrsinn seines bösen Herzens handeln!‹«
13Darum hat der HERR so gesprochen: »Erkundigt euch doch bei den Heidenvölkern, ob jemand so etwas jemals gehört habe! Etwas ganz Abscheuliches hat die Jungfrau Israel verübt!
14Verläßt wohl jemals der Schnee des Libanons den Felsen im Gefild? Oder versiegen jemals die weither kommenden Wasser, die kalten, rieselnden?
15Doch mich hat mein Volk vergessen: den nichtigen Götzen opfern sie, und diese haben sie zu Fall gebracht auf ihren Wegen, den Pfaden der Vorzeit, so daß sie wandeln auf den Steigen eines ungebahnten Weges,
16um so ihr Land zu einem abschreckenden Beispiel zu machen, zu ewigem Hohn: jeder, der daran vorüberzieht, entsetzt sich und schüttelt den Kopf.
17Wie der Ostwind werde ich sie (auf der Flucht) vor dem Feinde her zerstreuen, werde ihnen den Rücken, aber nicht mein Angesicht zukehren am Tage ihres Untergangs!«
18Sie haben gesagt: »Kommt, laßt uns Anschläge gegen Jeremia ersinnen! Denn noch fehlt es den Priestern nicht an Belehrung und den Weisen nicht an Rat, noch den Propheten an Wort. Kommt, wir wollen ihn mit (seiner eigenen) Zunge schlagen und alle seine Reden unbeachtet lassen!«
19Gib doch acht auf mich, HERR, und vernimm die Worte meiner Widersacher!
20Soll denn Gutes mit Bösem vergolten werden? Sie haben ja meinem Leben eine Grube gegraben! Denke daran, wie ich vor dir gestanden habe, Fürbitte für sie einzulegen, um deinen Zorn von ihnen abzuwenden!
21Darum gib ihre Kinder dem Hunger preis und überliefere sie der Gewalt des Schwertes! Laß ihre Weiber kinderlos und zu Witwen werden, wenn ihre Männer von der Pest hingerafft sind, und laß ihre Jünglinge vom Schwert erschlagen werden im Kriege!
22Wehgeschrei möge aus ihren Häusern erschallen, wenn du unversehens Kriegerscharen über sie kommen läßt; denn sie haben eine Grube gegraben, um mich zu fangen, und meinen Füßen haben sie heimlich Schlingen gelegt.
23Du aber, HERR, kennst alle ihre Mordanschläge gegen mich: vergib ihnen ihre Missetat nicht und tilge ihre Sünde nicht aus vor deinem Angesicht, sondern laß sie niedergestürzt vor deinen Augen liegen! Zur Zeit deines Zorngerichts rechne mit ihnen ab!

1LA palabra que fué á Jeremías de Jehová, diciendo:
2Levántate, y vete á casa del alfarero, y allí te haré oir mis palabras.
3Y descendí á casa del alfarero, y he aquí que él hacía obra sobre la rueda.
4Y el vaso que él hacía de barro se quebró en la mano del alfarero; y tornó é hízolo otro vaso, según que al alfarero pareció mejor hacerlo.
5Entonces fué á mí palabra de Jehová, diciendo:
6¿No podré yo hacer de vosotros como este alfarero, oh casa de Israel, dice Jehová? He aquí que como el barro en la mano del alfarero, así sois vosotros en mi mano, oh casa de Israel.
7En un instante hablaré contra gentes y contra reinos, para arrancar, y disipar, y destruir.
8Empero si esas gentes se convirtieren de su maldad, de que habré hablado, yo me arrepentiré del mal que había pensado hacerles.
9Y en un instante hablaré de la gente y del reino, para edificar y para plantar;
10Pero si hiciere lo malo delante de mis ojos, no oyendo mi voz, arrepentiréme del bien que había determinado hacerle.
11Ahora pues habla luego á todo hombre de Judá, y á los moradores de Jerusalem, diciendo: Así ha dicho Jehová: He aquí que yo dispongo mal contra vosotros, y trazo contra vosotros designios: conviértase ahora cada uno de su mal camino, y mejorad vuestros caminos y vuestras obras.
12Y dijeron: Es por demás: porque en pos de nuestras imaginaciones hemos de ir, y hemos de hacer cada uno el pensamiento de su malvado corazón.
13Por tanto, así dijo Jehová: Preguntad ahora á las gentes, quién tal haya oído. Gran fealdad ha hecho la virgen de Israel.
14¿Faltará la nieve del Líbano de la piedra del campo? ¿faltarán las aguas frías que corren de lejanas tierras?
15Porque mi pueblo me ha olvidado, incensando á la vanidad, y hácenles tropezar en sus caminos, en las sendas antiguas, para que caminen por sendas, por camino no hollado;
16Para poner su tierra en desolación, y en silbos perpetuos; todo aquel que pasare por ella se maravillará, y meneará su cabeza.
17Como viento solano los esparciré delante del enemigo; mostraréles las espaldas, y no el rostro, en el día de su perdición.
18Y dijeron: Venid, y tracemos maquinaciones contra Jeremías; porque la ley no faltará del sacerdote, ni consejo del sabio, ni palabra del profeta. Venid é hirámoslo de lengua, y no miremos á todas sus palabras.
19Oh Jehová, mira por mí, y oye la voz de los que contienden conmigo.
20¿Dase mal por bien, para que hayan cavado hoyo á mi alma? Acuérdate que me puse delante de ti para hablar bien por ellos, para apartar de ellos tu ira.
21Por tanto, entrega sus hijos á hambre, y hazlos derramar por medio de la espada; y queden sus mujeres sin hijos, y viudas; y sus maridos sean puestos á muerte, y sus jóvenes heridos á cuchillo en la guerra.
22Oigase clamor de sus casas, cuando trajeres sobre ellos ejército de repente: porque cavaron hoyo para prenderme, y á mis pies han escondido lazos.
23Mas tú, oh Jehová, conoces todo su consejo contra mí para muerte; no perdones su maldad, ni borres su pecado de delante de tu rostro: y tropiecen delante de ti; haz así con ellos en el tiempo de tu furor.

1The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,
2Arise, and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words.
3Then I went down to the potter’s house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels.
4And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.
5Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
6O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.
7At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it;
8If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them.
9And at what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it;
10If it do evil in my sight, that it obey not my voice, then I will repent of the good, wherewith I said I would benefit them.
11Now therefore go to, speak to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I frame evil against you, and devise a device against you: return ye now every one from his evil way, and make your ways and your doings good.
12And they said, There is no hope: but we will walk after our own devices, and we will every one do the imagination of his evil heart.
13Therefore thus saith the LORD; Ask ye now among the heathen, who hath heard such things: the virgin of Israel hath done a very horrible thing.
14Will a man leave the snow of Lebanon which cometh from the rock of the field? or shall the cold flowing waters that come from another place be forsaken?
15Because my people hath forgotten me, they have burned incense to vanity, and they have caused them to stumble in their ways from the ancient paths, to walk in paths, in a way not cast up;
16To make their land desolate, and a perpetual hissing; every one that passeth thereby shall be astonished, and wag his head.
17I will scatter them as with an east wind before the enemy; I will shew them the back, and not the face, in the day of their calamity.
18Then said they, Come, and let us devise devices against Jeremiah; for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let us smite him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words.
19Give heed to me, O LORD, and hearken to the voice of them that contend with me.
20Shall evil be recompensed for good? for they have digged a pit for my soul. Remember that I stood before thee to speak good for them, and to turn away thy wrath from them.
21Therefore deliver up their children to the famine, and pour out their blood by the force of the sword; and let their wives be bereaved of their children, and be widows; and let their men be put to death; let their young men be slain by the sword in battle.
22Let a cry be heard from their houses, when thou shalt bring a troop suddenly upon them: for they have digged a pit to take me, and hid snares for my feet.
23Yet, LORD, thou knowest all their counsel against me to slay me: forgive not their iniquity, neither blot out their sin from thy sight, but let them be overthrown before thee; deal thus with them in the time of thine anger.

1The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,
2“Arise, and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause you to hear my words.”
3Then I went down to the potter’s house, and behold, he was making something on the wheels.
4When the vessel that he made of the clay was marred in the hand of the potter, he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.
5Then the LORD’s word came to me, saying,
6“House of Israel, can’t I do with you as this potter?” says the LORD. “Behold, as the clay in the potter’s hand, so are you in my hand, house of Israel.
7At the instant I speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up and to break down and to destroy it,
8if that nation, concerning which I have spoken, turns from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do to them.
9At the instant I speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it,
10if they do that which is evil in my sight, that they don’t obey my voice, then I will repent of the good with which I said I would benefit them.
11“Now therefore, speak to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, ‘The LORD says: “Behold, I frame evil against you, and devise a plan against you. Everyone return from his evil way now, and amend your ways and your doings.”’
12But they say, ‘It is in vain; for we will walk after our own plans, and we will each follow the stubbornness of his evil heart.’”
13Therefore the LORD says: “Ask now among the nations, ‘Who has heard such things?’ The virgin of Israel has done a very horrible thing.
14Will the snow of Lebanon fail from the rock of the field? Will the cold waters that flow down from afar be dried up?
15For my people have forgotten me. They have burned incense to false gods. They have been made to stumble in their ways in the ancient paths, to walk in byways, in a way not built up,
16to make their land an astonishment, and a perpetual hissing. Everyone who passes by it will be astonished, and shake his head.
17I will scatter them as with an east wind before the enemy. I will show them the back, and not the face, in the day of their calamity.
18Then they said, “Come! Let’s devise plans against Jeremiah; for the law won’t perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let’s strike him with the tongue, and let’s not give heed to any of his words.”
19Give heed to me, LORD, and listen to the voice of those who contend with me.
20Should evil be recompensed for good? For they have dug a pit for my soul. Remember how I stood before you to speak good for them, to turn away your wrath from them.
21Therefore deliver up their children to the famine, and give them over to the power of the sword. Let their wives become childless and widows. Let their men be killed and their young men struck by the sword in battle.
22Let a cry be heard from their houses when you bring a troop suddenly on them; for they have dug a pit to take me and hidden snares for my feet.
23Yet, LORD, you know all their counsel against me to kill me. Don’t forgive their iniquity. Don’t blot out their sin from your sight, Let them be overthrown before you. Deal with them in the time of your anger.
