1Aber der HERR antwortete mir: »Wenn auch Mose und Samuel vor mich träten, würde mein Herz sich doch diesem Volke nicht zuwenden: schaffe sie mir aus den Augen, sie sollen weggehen!
2Wenn sie dich dann fragen: ›Wohin sollen wir gehen?‹, so antworte ihnen: ›So hat der HERR gesprochen: Wer für den Tod bestimmt ist, gehe zum Tode! Wer für das Schwert (bestimmt ist), zum Schwerte! Wer für den Hunger, zum Hunger! Und wer für die Gefangenschaft, zur Gefangenschaft!‹
3Denn ich will vier Arten (von Verderbern) gegen sie aufbieten« – so lautet der Ausspruch des HERRN –: »das Schwert zum Morden, die Hunde zum Zerren, die Vögel des Himmels und die Tiere des Feldes zum Fressen und zum Vertilgen
4und will sie so zu einem abschreckenden Beispiel für alle Reiche der Erde machen um des judäischen Königs Manasse, des Sohnes Hiskias, willen, wegen alles dessen, was er in Jerusalem verübt hat.«
5Ach, wer wird Mitleid mit dir haben, Jerusalem, und wer dir Teilnahme bezeigen? Und wer wird bei dir einkehren, um sich nach deinem Ergehen zu erkundigen?
6»Du selbst hast mich ja verworfen« – so lautet der Ausspruch des HERRN –, »hast mir den Rücken zugekehrt; darum habe ich meine Hand gegen dich erhoben und dich zerschmettert: ich war’s müde, mich erbitten zu lassen!
7Ich habe sie mit der Worfschaufel hinausgeworfelt in den Toren des Landes, habe mein Volk seiner Kinder beraubt und es zugrunde gerichtet: sie sind von ihren bösen Wegen doch nicht umgekehrt!
8Ihre Witwen sind mir zahlreicher geworden als der Sand am Meer; ich habe ihnen über die Mütter der jungen Männer den Würgengel am hellen Mittag gebracht, habe jählings Angst und Schrecken auf sie fallen lassen.
9Die Mutter, welche sieben Söhne geboren hat, vergeht nun vor Trauer, haucht ihr Leben aus: die Sonne ist ihr noch bei Tage untergegangen, fassungslos und gebrochen steht sie da! Was jetzt aber von ihnen noch übrig ist, will ich dem Schwert preisgeben (auf der Flucht) vor ihren Feinden!« – so lautet der Ausspruch des HERRN.
10Wehe mir, meine Mutter, daß du mich geboren hast, einen Mann der Anfeindung und des Haders für das ganze Land! Ich habe kein Geld ausgeliehen, und niemand hat mir geborgt, und doch fluchen sie mir alle!
11Der HERR hat verheißen: »Wahrlich, ich will dich zum Guten stärken, wahrlich, ich will es so fügen, daß zur Zeit des Unglücks, zur Zeit der Not, der Feind dich bittend angehen soll!«
12[Kann man Eisen zerbrechen, Eisen aus dem Norden, und Erz?
13Dein Vermögen und deine Schätze will ich der Plünderung preisgeben ohne Entgelt, und zwar wegen aller Sünden, die du in allen Teilen deines Landes begangen hast;
14und ich will dich deinen Feinden dienstbar machen in einem Lande, das du nicht kennst; denn ein Feuer ist entbrannt durch meinen Zorn und lodert gegen euch.]
15HERR, du selbst weißt es: gedenke mein und nimm dich meiner an und schaffe mir Rache an meinen Widersachern! Laß mich nicht infolge deiner Langmut (gegen sie) hinweggerafft werden! Bedenke, daß ich um deinetwillen Schmach erdulde!
16Sooft deine Befehle erfolgten, habe ich sie meine Speise sein lassen, und deine Weisungen sind mir eine Wonne und Herzensfreude gewesen; ich bin ja nach deinem Namen genannt, HERR, du Gott der Heerscharen.
17Ich habe nie im Kreise der Scherzenden gesessen, um mich zu erlustigen; nein, von deiner Hand gebeugt, habe ich einsam gesessen, weil du mich mit Unwillen erfüllt hattest.
18Warum ist mein Schmerz endlos geworden und meine Wunde tödlich, daß sie eine Heilung zurückweist? Willst du mir wirklich wie ein trügerischer Bach sein, wie ein Wasserlauf, auf den kein Verlaß ist?
19Darum hat der HERR so (zu mir) gesprochen: »Wenn du umkehrst, so will ich dich zurückkehren lassen, daß du mir aufs neue dienen darfst; und wenn du nur Edles, nichts Gemeines hören läßt, sollst du wieder wie mein Mund sein. Jene sollen sich dann zu dir umwenden, du aber sollst dich nicht zu ihnen umwenden.
20Dann will ich dich diesem Volke gegenüber zu einer hochragenden Mauer von Erz machen, daß, wenn sie gegen dich anstürmen, sie dir doch nichts anhaben können; denn ich bin mit dir, um dir zu helfen und dir den Sieg zu verleihen« – so lautet der Ausspruch des HERRN –;
21»und ich will dich aus der Hand der Bösen erretten und dich aus der Faust der Gewalttätigen befreien!«

1Y DÍJOME Jehová: Si Moisés y Samuel se pusieran delante de mí, mi voluntad no será con este pueblo: échalos de delante de mí, y salgan.
2Y será que si te preguntaren: ¿A dónde saldremos? les dirás: Así ha dicho Jehová: El que á muerte, á muerte; y el que á cuchillo, á cuchillo; y el que á hambre, á hambre; y el que á cautividad, á cautividad.
3Y enviaré sobre ellos cuatro géneros, dice Jehová: cuchillo para matar, y perros para despedazar, y aves del cielo y bestias de la tierra, para devorar y para disipar.
4Y entregarélos á ser agitados por todos los reinos de la tierra, á causa de Manasés hijo de Ezechîas rey de Judá, por lo que hizo en Jerusalem.
5Porque ¿quién tendrá compasión de ti, oh Jerusalem? ¿ó quién se entristecerá por tu causa? ¿ó quién ha de venir á preguntar por tu paz?
6Tú me dejaste, dice Jehová, atrás te volviste: por tanto yo extenderé sobre ti mi mano, y te destruiré; estoy cansado de arrepentirme.
7Y aventélos con aventador hasta las puertas de la tierra; desahijé, desbaraté mi pueblo; no se tornaron de sus caminos.
8Sus viudas se me multiplicaron más que la arena de la mar; traje contra ellos destruidor á medio día sobre la madre y los hijos; sobre la ciudad hice que de repente cayesen terrores.
9Enflaquecióse la que parió siete; llenóse de dolor su alma; su sol se le puso siendo aún de día; fué avergonzada y llena de confusión: y lo que de ella quedare, entregarélo á cuchillo delante de sus enemigos, dice Jehová.
10¡Ay de mí, madre mía, que me has engendrado hombre de contienda y hombre de discordia á toda la tierra! Nunca les dí á logro, ni lo tomé de ellos; y todos me maldicen.
11Dijo Jehová: De cierto tus reliquias serán en bien; de cierto haré que el enemigo te salga á recibir en el tiempo trabajoso, y en el tiempo de angustia.
12¿Quebrará el hierro al hierro de la parte de aquilón, y al bronce?
13Tus riquezas y tus tesoros daré á saco sin ningún precio, por todos tus pecados, y en todos tus términos;
14Y te haré pasar á tus enemigos en tierra que no conoces: porque fuego se ha encendido en mi furor, y arderá sobre vosotros.
15Tú lo sabes, oh Jehová; acuérdate de mí, y visítame, y véngame de mis enemigos. No me tomes en la prolongación de tu enojo: sabes que por amor de ti sufro afrenta.
16Halláronse tus palabras, y yo las comí; y tu palabra me fué por gozo y por alegría de mi corazón: porque tu nombre se invocó sobre mí, oh Jehová Dios de los ejércitos.
17No me senté en compañía de burladores, ni me engreí á causa de tu profecía; sentéme solo, porque me llenaste de desabrimiento.
18¿Por qué fué perpetuo mi dolor, y mi herida desahuciada no admitió cura? ¿Serás para mí como cosa ilusoria, como aguas que no son estables?
19Por tanto así dijo Jehová: Si te convirtieres, yo te repondré, y delante de mí estarás; y si sacares lo precioso de lo vil, serás como mi boca. Conviértanse ellos á ti, y tú no te conviertas á ellos.
20Y te daré para este pueblo por fuerte muro de bronce, y pelearán contra ti, y no te vencerán: porque yo estoy contigo para guardarte y para defenderte, dice Jehová.
21Y librarte he de la mano de los malos, y te redimiré de la mano de los fuertes.

1Then said the LORD unto me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind could not be toward this people: cast them out of my sight, and let them go forth.
2And it shall come to pass, if they say unto thee, Whither shall we go forth? then thou shalt tell them, Thus saith the LORD; Such as are for death, to death; and such as are for the sword, to the sword; and such as are for the famine, to the famine; and such as are for the captivity, to the captivity.
3And I will appoint over them four kinds, saith the LORD: the sword to slay, and the dogs to tear, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the earth, to devour and destroy.
4And I will cause them to be removed into all kingdoms of the earth, because of Manasseh the son of Hezekiah king of Judah, for that which he did in Jerusalem.
5For who shall have pity upon thee, O Jerusalem? or who shall bemoan thee? or who shall go aside to ask how thou doest?
6Thou hast forsaken me, saith the LORD, thou art gone backward: therefore will I stretch out my hand against thee, and destroy thee; I am weary with repenting.
7And I will fan them with a fan in the gates of the land; I will bereave them of children, I will destroy my people, since they return not from their ways.
8Their widows are increased to me above the sand of the seas: I have brought upon them against the mother of the young men a spoiler at noonday: I have caused him to fall upon it suddenly, and terrors upon the city.
9She that hath borne seven languisheth: she hath given up the ghost; her sun is gone down while it was yet day: she hath been ashamed and confounded: and the residue of them will I deliver to the sword before their enemies, saith the LORD.
10Woe is me, my mother, that thou hast borne me a man of strife and a man of contention to the whole earth! I have neither lent on usury, nor men have lent to me on usury; yet every one of them doth curse me.
11The LORD said, Verily it shall be well with thy remnant; verily I will cause the enemy to entreat thee well in the time of evil and in the time of affliction.
12Shall iron break the northern iron and the steel?
13Thy substance and thy treasures will I give to the spoil without price, and that for all thy sins, even in all thy borders.
14And I will make thee to pass with thine enemies into a land which thou knowest not: for a fire is kindled in mine anger, which shall burn upon you.
15O LORD, thou knowest: remember me, and visit me, and revenge me of my persecutors; take me not away in thy longsuffering: know that for thy sake I have suffered rebuke.
16Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.
17I sat not in the assembly of the mockers, nor rejoiced; I sat alone because of thy hand: for thou hast filled me with indignation.
18Why is my pain perpetual, and my wound incurable, which refuseth to be healed? wilt thou be altogether unto me as a liar, and as waters that fail?
19Therefore thus saith the LORD, If thou return, then will I bring thee again, and thou shalt stand before me: and if thou take forth the precious from the vile, thou shalt be as my mouth: let them return unto thee; but return not thou unto them.
20And I will make thee unto this people a fenced brasen wall: and they shall fight against thee, but they shall not prevail against thee: for I am with thee to save thee and to deliver thee, saith the LORD.
21And I will deliver thee out of the hand of the wicked, and I will redeem thee out of the hand of the terrible.

1Then the LORD said to me, “Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind would not turn toward this people. Cast them out of my sight, and let them go out!
2It will happen when they ask you, ‘Where shall we go out?’ then you shall tell them, ‘The LORD says: “Such as are for death, to death; such as are for the sword, to the sword; such as are for the famine, to the famine; and such as are for captivity, to captivity.”’
3“I will appoint over them four kinds,” says the LORD: “the sword to kill, the dogs to tear, the birds of the sky, and the animals of the earth, to devour and to destroy.
4I will cause them to be tossed back and forth among all the kingdoms of the earth, because of Manasseh, the son of Hezekiah, king of Judah, for that which he did in Jerusalem.
5For who will have pity on you, Jerusalem? Who will mourn you? Who will come to ask of your welfare?
6You have rejected me,” says the LORD. “You have gone backward. Therefore I have stretched out my hand against you and destroyed you. I am weary of showing compassion.
7I have winnowed them with a fan in the gates of the land. I have bereaved them of children. I have destroyed my people. They didn’t return from their ways.
8Their widows are increased more than the sand of the seas. I have brought on them against the mother of the young men a destroyer at noonday. I have caused anguish and terrors to fall on her suddenly.
9She who has borne seven languishes. She has given up the spirit. Her sun has gone down while it was yet day. She has been disappointed and confounded. I will deliver their residue to the sword before their enemies,” says the LORD.
10Woe is me, my mother, that you have borne me, a man of strife, and a man of contention to the whole earth! I have not lent, neither have men lent to me; yet every one of them curses me.
11The LORD said, “Most certainly I will strengthen you for good. Most certainly I will cause the enemy to make supplication to you in the time of evil and in the time of affliction.
12Can one break iron, even iron from the north, and bronze?
13I will give your substance and your treasures for a plunder without price, and that for all your sins, even in all your borders.
14I will make them to pass with your enemies into a land which you don’t know; for a fire is kindled in my anger, which will burn on you.”
15LORD, you know. Remember me, visit me, and avenge me of my persecutors. You are patient, so don’t take me away. Know that for your sake I have suffered reproach.
16Your words were found, and I ate them. Your words were to me a joy and the rejoicing of my heart, for I am called by your name, LORD, God of Armies.
17I didn’t sit in the assembly of those who make merry and rejoice. I sat alone because of your hand, for you have filled me with indignation.
18Why is my pain perpetual, and my wound incurable, which refuses to be healed? Will you indeed be to me as a deceitful brook, like waters that fail?
19Therefore the LORD says, “If you return, then I will bring you again, that you may stand before me; and if you take out the precious from the vile, you will be as my mouth. They will return to you, but you will not return to them.
20I will make you to this people a fortified bronze wall. They will fight against you, but they will not prevail against you; for I am with you to save you and to deliver you,” says the LORD.
21“I will deliver you out of the hand of the wicked, and I will redeem you out of the hand of the terrible.”
