So much of the word of Yahweh as came unto Jeremiah, concerning the matter of the drought:—
PALABRA de Jehová que fué á Jeremías, con motivo de la sequía.

This is the LORD’s word that came to Jeremiah concerning the drought:
Judah mourneth, And the gates thereof, pine They lie in gloom on the ground,—And, the outcry of Jerusalem, hath ascended;
Enlutóse Judá, y sus puertas se despoblaron: oscureciéronse en tierra, y subió el clamor de Jerusalem.
Judah mourneth, and the gates thereof languish; they are black unto the ground; and the cry of Jerusalem is gone up.
“Judah mourns, and its gates languish. They sit in black on the ground. The cry of Jerusalem goes up.
And, their nobles have sent their menials to the waters,—They have been to the pits, They have found no water They have returned, their vessels empty, They are pale and ashamed and have covered their heads.
Y los principales de ellos enviaron sus criados al agua: vinieron á las lagunas, y no hallaron agua: volviéronse con sus vasos vacíos; se avergonzaron, confundiéronse, y cubrieron sus cabezas.
And their nobles have sent their little ones to the waters: they came to the pits, and found no water; they returned with their vessels empty; they were ashamed and confounded, and covered their heads.

Because the ground, is cracked, For there hath been no rain in the land, The plowmen are pale They have covered their heads.
Porque se resquebrajó la tierra á causa de no llover en el país; confusos los labradores, cubrieron sus cabezas.
Because the ground is chapt, for there was no rain in the earth, the plowmen were ashamed, they covered their heads.
Because of the ground which is cracked, because no rain has been in the land, the plowmen are disappointed. They cover their heads.
For, even the hind of the field hath calved and forsaken, Because there is no young herbage;
Y aun las ciervas en los campos parían, y dejaban la cría, porque no había hierba.
Yea, the hind also calved in the field, and forsook it, because there was no grass.
Yes, the doe in the field also calves and forsakes her young, because there is no grass.
Yea, wild asses stand still on the bare heights, They pant for air like jackals,—Dimmed are their eyes Because there is no grass.
Y los asnos monteses se ponían en los altos, aspiraban el viento como los chacales; sus ojos se ofuscaron, porque no había hierba.
And the wild asses did stand in the high places, they snuffed up the wind like dragons; their eyes did fail, because there was no grass.
The wild donkeys stand on the bare heights. They pant for air like jackals. Their eyes fail, because there is no vegetation.
Though, our iniquities, have testified against us, O Yahweh, effectually work thou for the sake of thy Name,—For our apostasies have abounded Against thee, have we sinned.
Si nuestras iniquidades testifican contra nosotros, oh Jehová, haz por amor de tu nombre; porque nuestras rebeliones se han multiplicado, contra ti pecamos.
O LORD, though our iniquities testify against us, do thou it for thy name’s sake: for our backslidings are many; we have sinned against thee.
Though our iniquities testify against us, work for your name’s sake, LORD; for our rebellions are many. We have sinned against you.
Thou Hope of Israel, His Saviour in the time of distress,—Wherefore shouldst thou be as a sojourner in the and? Or as a wayfarer, who hath turned aside to lodge for the night?
Oh esperanza de Israel, Guardador suyo en el tiempo de la aflicción, ¿por qué has de ser como peregrino en la tierra, y como caminante que se aparta para tener la noche?
O the hope of Israel, the saviour thereof in time of trouble, why shouldest thou be as a stranger in the land, and as a wayfaring man that turneth aside to tarry for a night?
You hope of Israel, its Savior in the time of trouble, why should you be as a foreigner in the land, and as a wayfaring man who turns aside to stay for a night?
Wherefore, shouldst thou be as a man astounded, As a mighty man who cannot save? Yet, thou, art in our midst—O Yahweh And, thy Name, on us, hath been called Do not abandon us!
¿Por qué has de ser como hombre atónito, y como valiente que no puede librar? tú empero estás entre nosotros, oh Jehová, y sobre nosotros es invocado tu nombre; no nos desampares.
Why shouldest thou be as a man astonied, as a mighty man that cannot save? yet thou, O LORD, art in the midst of us, and we are called by thy name; leave us not.
Why should you be like a scared man, as a mighty man who can’t save? Yet you, LORD, are in the middle of us, and we are called by your name. Don’t leave us.
Thus, saith Yahweh To this people In this way, have they loved to wander, Their feet, have they not restrained,—Yahweh, therefore hath not accepted them, Now, will he call to mind their iniquity,—That he may punish their sins.
Así ha dicho Jehová á este pueblo: Así amaron moverse, ni detuvieron sus pies: por tanto, Jehová no los tiene en voluntad; acordaráse ahora de la maldad de ellos, y visitará sus pecados.
Thus saith the LORD unto this people, Thus have they loved to wander, they have not refrained their feet, therefore the LORD doth not accept them; he will now remember their iniquity, and visit their sins.
The LORD says to this people: “Even so they have loved to wander. They have not restrained their feet. Therefore the LORD does not accept them. Now he will remember their iniquity, and punish them for their sins.”
And Yahweh said unto me,—Do not pray for this people for blessing;
Y díjome Jehová: No ruegues por este pueblo para bien.
Then said the LORD unto me, Pray not for this people for their good.
The LORD said to me, “Don’t pray for this people for their good.
Though they fast, I am not going to hearken unto their loud cry, and Though they offer ascending-sacrifice and meal-offering, I am not going to accept them,—For with sword and with famine and with pestilence, am, I, about to consume them.
Cuando ayunaren, yo no oiré su clamor, y cuando ofrecieren holocausto y ofrenda, no lo aceptaré; antes los consumiré con cuchillo, y con hambre, y con pestilencia.
When they fast, I will not hear their cry; and when they offer burnt offering and an oblation, I will not accept them: but I will consume them by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence.

Then said I, Ah, My Lord Yahweh! Lo! the prophets, are saying to them—Ye shall not see the sword And famine, shall ye not have,—For prosperity in truth, will I give you, in this place.
Y yo dije: ¡Ah! ah! Señor Jehová! he aquí que los profetas les dicen: No veréis cuchillo, ni habrá hambre en vosotros, sino que en este lugar os daré paz verdadera.
Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, the prophets say unto them, Ye shall not see the sword, neither shall ye have famine; but I will give you assured peace in this place.
Then I said, “Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, the prophets tell them, ‘You will not see the sword, neither will you have famine; but I will give you assured peace in this place.’”
So then Yahweh said unto me, Falsehood, are the prophets prophesying in my name, I have not sent them Neither have I commanded them, Neither have I spoken unto them,—A vision of falsehood, and A divination of worthlessness and A fraud of their own hearts, They, are prophesying unto you.
Díjome entonces Jehová: Falso profetizan los profetas en mi nombre: no los envié, ni les mandé, ni les hablé: visión mentirosa, y adivinación, y vanidad, y engaño de su corazón os profetizan.
Then the LORD said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart.
Then the LORD said to me, “The prophets prophesy lies in my name. I didn’t send them. I didn’t command them. I didn’t speak to them. They prophesy to you a lying vision, divination, and a thing of nothing, and the deceit of their own heart.
Therefore, Thus, saith Yahweh concerning the prophets who are prophesying in my Name though, I, sent them not, and yet, they have been, saying, Neither sword nor famine, shall there be in this land,—By sword or by famine, shall, those prophets, be consumed;
Por tanto así ha dicho Jehová sobre los profetas que profetizan en mi nombre, los cuales yo no envié, y que dicen, Cuchillo ni hambre no habrá en esta tierra: Con cuchillo y con hambre serán consumidos esos profetas.
Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the prophets that prophesy in my name, and I sent them not, yet they say, Sword and famine shall not be in this land; By sword and famine shall those prophets be consumed.
Therefore the LORD says concerning the prophets who prophesy in my name, but I didn’t send them, yet they say, ‘Sword and famine will not be in this land.’ Those prophets will be consumed by sword and famine.
And the people to whom they have been prophesying shall be getting cast out into the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword, and of there being none to give burial unto them, them, their wives, nor their sons nor their daughters,—So will I pour out upon them their own wickedness.
Y el pueblo á quien profetizan, echado será en las calles de Jerusalem por hambre y por espada; y no habrá quien los entierre, ellos, y sus mujeres, y sus hijos, y sus hijas; y sobre ellos derramaré su maldad.
And the people to whom they prophesy shall be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword; and they shall have none to bury them, them, their wives, nor their sons, nor their daughters: for I will pour their wickedness upon them.
The people to whom they prophesy will be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword. They will have no one to bury them—them, their wives, their sons, or their daughters, for I will pour their wickedness on them.
Therefore shalt thou say unto them this word, Let mine eyes, run down with tears night and day, And let them not rest,—For with a grievous injury, hath been injured the virgin the daughter of my people, With a wound, severe indeed!
Decirles has, pues, esta palabra: Córranse mis ojos en lágrimas noche y día, y no cesen; porque de gran quebrantamiento es quebrantada la virgen hija de mi pueblo, de plaga muy recia.
Therefore thou shalt say this word unto them; Let mine eyes run down with tears night and day, and let them not cease: for the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breach, with a very grievous blow.
“You shall say this word to them: “‘Let my eyes run down with tears night and day, and let them not cease; for the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breach, with a very grievous wound.
If I have gone out into the field, Then lo! the slain of the sword! And, if I have entered the city, Then lo! the diseases of famine! For, both prophet and priest, have trafficked against the land unnoticed.
Si salgo al campo, he aquí muertos á cuchillo; y si me entro en la ciudad, he aquí enfermos de hambre: porque también el profeta como el sacerdote anduvieron rodeando en la tierra, y no conocieron.
If I go forth into the field, then behold the slain with the sword! and if I enter into the city, then behold them that are sick with famine! yea, both the prophet and the priest go about into a land that they know not.

Hast thou, utterly rejected, Judah? Zion itself, hath thy soul loathed? Why, hast thou smitten us so that there is for us no healing? A waiting For prosperity, but no welfare, and For a time of healing, but lo! terror!
¿Has desechado enteramente á Judá? ¿ha aborrecido tu alma á Sión? ¿Por qué nos hiciste herir sin que nos quede cura? Esperamos paz, y no hubo bien; tiempo de cura, y he aquí turbación.
Hast thou utterly rejected Judah? hath thy soul lothed Zion? why hast thou smitten us, and there is no healing for us? we looked for peace, and there is no good; and for the time of healing, and behold trouble!
Have you utterly rejected Judah? Has your soul loathed Zion? Why have you struck us, and there is no healing for us? We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of healing, and behold, dismay!
We acknowledge O Yahweh Our own lawlessness The iniquity of our fathers,—For we have sinned against thee.
Reconocemos, oh Jehová, nuestra impiedad, la iniquidad de nuestros padres: porque contra ti hemos pecado.

Por amor de tu nombre no nos deseches, ni trastornes el trono de tu gloria: acuérdate, no invalides tu pacto con nosotros.

Are there, among the vanities of the nations senders of rain? Or can, the heavens themselves, give myriad drops? Art not, thou, he, O Yahweh our God? Therefore will we wait for thee, For, thou, hast made all these.
¿Hay entre las vanidades de las gentes quien haga llover? ¿y darán los cielos lluvias? ¿No eres tú, Jehová, nuestro Dios? en ti pues esperamos; pues tú hiciste todas estas cosas.
Are there any among the vanities of the Gentiles that can cause rain? or can the heavens give showers? art not thou he, O LORD our God? therefore we will wait upon thee: for thou hast made all these things.
Are there any among the vanities of the nations that can cause rain? Or can the sky give showers? Aren’t you he, the LORD our God? Therefore we will wait for you; for you have made all these things.
