1So hat der HERR zu mir gesprochen: »Gehe hin und kaufe dir einen linnenen Gürtel und lege ihn dir um die Hüften, aber laß ihn nicht ins Wasser geraten!«
2Da kaufte ich den Gürtel nach dem Befehl des HERRN und legte ihn mir um die Hüften.
3Hierauf erging das Wort des HERRN zum zweitenmal an mich folgendermaßen:
4»Nimm den Gürtel, den du dir gekauft hast und um deine Hüften trägst, und mache dich auf, gehe an den Euphrat und verstecke ihn dort in einer Felsspalte!«
5Da ging ich hin und versteckte ihn am Euphrat, wie der HERR mir geboten hatte.
6Nach längerer Zeit aber sagte der HERR zu mir: »Mache dich auf, gehe an den Euphrat und hole von dort den Gürtel, den du dort auf meinen Befehl versteckt hast!«
7Da begab ich mich an den Euphrat, grub nach und nahm den Gürtel von der Stelle, wo ich ihn versteckt hatte; aber siehe da: der Gürtel war verdorben, war zu nichts mehr zu gebrauchen!
8Da erging das Wort des HERRN an mich folgendermaßen:
9»So spricht der HERR: Ebenso will ich den Hochmut Judas und den Hochmut Jerusalems, der so gewaltig ist, ins Verderben stürzen!
10Dieses böse Volk, das sich weigert, auf meine Worte zu hören, das da wandelt im Starrsinn seines Herzens und anderen Göttern nachläuft, um ihnen zu dienen und sie anzubeten: es soll ihm ebenso ergehen wie diesem Gürtel, der zu nichts mehr taugt.
11Denn gleichwie der Gürtel sich eng an die Hüften eines Mannes anschließt, so hatte ich das ganze Haus Israel und das ganze Haus Juda sich eng an mich anschließen lassen« – so lautet der Ausspruch des HERRN –, »damit sie mein Volk würden, mir zum Ruhm und zum Lobpreis und zur Zierde; aber sie haben nicht gehorcht.«
12»So richte denn folgende Worte an sie: ›So hat der HERR, der Gott Israels, gesprochen: Jeder Krug wird mit Wein gefüllt.‹ Wenn sie dann zu dir sagen: ›Sollten wir das wirklich nicht selbst wissen, daß jeder Krug mit Wein gefüllt wird?‹,
13so erwidere ihnen: ›So hat der HERR gesprochen: Fürwahr, ich will alle Bewohner dieses Landes, sowohl die Könige, die auf dem Throne Davids sitzen, als auch die Priester und Propheten und alle Bewohner Jerusalems mit Trunkenheit füllen
14und sie sich dann einen an dem andern zerschmettern lassen, und zwar die Väter zugleich mit den Söhnen!‹ – so lautet der Ausspruch des HERRN –; ›ich will dabei keine Schonung üben und kein Mitleid haben, und kein Erbarmen soll mich abhalten, sie zu vernichten!‹«
15Höret und merkt auf! Seid nicht hochmütig, denn der HERR ist’s, der geredet hat!
16Gebt dem HERRN, eurem Gott, die Ehre, bevor es Nacht wird und bevor eure Füße sich an den Bergen in der Dunkelheit stoßen und ihr dann auf Licht wartet, er es aber zu tiefster Finsternis macht und es in Wolkendunkel verwandelt!
17Wenn ihr aber nicht gehorcht, so muß ich vor Kummer im Verborgenen weinen ob eurem Hochmut, und mein Auge muß unaufhörlich in Tränen zerfließen, weil die Herde des HERRN gefangen weggeführt wird.
18Sage zum König und zur Herrin: »Setzt euch tief herunter, denn vom Haupt ist euch eure herrliche Krone herabgefallen.
19Die Städte des Südlands sind verschlossen, und niemand ist da, der sie öffnet; in Gefangenschaft wird Juda weggeführt insgesamt, weggeführt in voller Zahl!«
20Hebe deine Augen auf, Jerusalem, und sieh, wie sie von Norden daherkommen! Wo ist die Herde, die dir anvertraut war, deine prächtigen Schafe?
21Was wirst du sagen, wenn er die, welche du selbst als vertraute Freunde an dich gewöhnt hast, zum Oberhaupt über dich bestellt? Werden dich da nicht Wehen erfassen wie ein Weib in Geburtsnöten?
22Und wenn du alsdann bei dir selber denkst: »Warum hat solches Leid mich getroffen?«, so wisse: Wegen deiner schweren Verschuldung wird dir die Schleppe aufgehoben, werden dir die Füße mit Gewalt entblößt.
23Kann wohl ein Mohr seine Haut verwandeln und ein Pardel sein buntes Fell? Dann würdet auch ihr imstande sein gut zu handeln, die ihr an Bösestun gewöhnt seid.
24»Darum will ich sie zerstreuen wie Spreu, die vor dem Wüstenwinde verfliegt.
25Das ist dein Los, dein Teil, das ich dir zugemessen habe« – so lautet der Ausspruch des HERRN –, »weil du mich vergessen und dein Vertrauen auf Trug gesetzt hast.
26Darum will auch ich dir deine Schleppen vorn bis über das Gesicht hochziehen, damit deine Scham sichtbar wird.
27Deine Ehebrecherei und dein brünstiges Wiehern, die Schmach deiner Buhlerei – auf den Hügeln wie im freien Felde habe ich deine Greuel gesehen! Wehe dir, Jerusalem, daß du dich nicht reinigst! Wie lange wird’s noch währen?«

1ASÍ me dijo Jehová: Ve, y cómprate un cinto de lino, y cíñelo sobre tus lomos, y no lo meterás en agua.
2Y compré el cinto conforme á la palabra de Jehová, y púselo sobre mis lomos.
3Y fué á mí segunda vez palabra de Jehová, diciendo:
4Toma el cinto que compraste, que está sobre tus lomos, y levántate, y ve al Eufrates, y escóndelo allá en la concavidad de una peña.
5Fuí pues, y escondílo junto al Eufrates, como Jehová me mandó.
6Y sucedió que al cabo de muchos días me dijo Jehová: Levántate, y ve al Eufrates, y toma de allí el cinto que te mandé escondieses allá.
7Entonces fuí al Eufrates, y cavé, y tomé el cinto del lugar donde lo había escondido; y he aquí que el cinto se había podrido; para ninguna cosa era bueno.
8Y fué á mí palabra de Jehová, diciendo:
9Así ha dicho Jehová: Así haré podrir la soberbia de Judá, y la mucha soberbia de Jerusalem,
10A este pueblo malo, que no quieren oir mis palabras, que andan en las imaginaciones de su corazón, y se fueron en pos de dioses ajenos para servirles, y para encorvarse á ellos; y vendrá á ser como este cinto, que para ninguna cosa es bueno.
11Porque como el cinto se junta á los lomos del hombre, así hice juntar á mí toda la casa de Israel y toda la casa de Judá, dice Jehová, para que me fuesen por pueblo y por fama, y por alabanza y por honra: empero no escucharon.
12Les dirás pues esta palabra: Así ha dicho Jehová, Dios de Israel: Henchiráse de vino todo odre. Y ellos te dirán: ¿No sabemos que todo odre se henchirá de vino?
13Entonces les has de decir: Así ha dicho Jehová: He aquí que yo lleno de embriaguez todos los moradores de esta tierra, y á los reyes de la estirpe de David que se sientan sobre su trono, y á los sacerdotes y profetas, y á todos los moradores de Jerusalem;
14Y quebrantarélos el uno con el otro, los padres con los hijos juntamente, dice Jehová: no perdonaré, ni tendré piedad ni misericordia, para no destruirlos.
15Escuchad y oid; no os elevéis: pues Jehová ha hablado.
16Dad gloria á Jehová Dios vuestro, antes que haga venir tinieblas, y antes que vuestros pies tropiecen en montes de oscuridad, y esperéis luz, y os la torne sombra de muerte y tinieblas.
17Mas si no oyereis esto, en secreto llorará mi alma á causa de vuestra soberbia; y llorando amargamente, se desharán mis ojos en lágrimas, porque el rebaño de Jehová fué cautivo.
18Di al rey y á la reina: Humillaos, sentaos en tierra; porque la corona de vuestra gloria bajó de vuestras cabezas.
19Las ciudades del mediodía fueron cerradas, y no hubo quien las abriese: toda Judá fué trasportada, trasportada fué toda ella.
20Alzad vuestros ojos, y ved los que vienen del aquilón: ¿dónde está el rebaño que te fué dado, la grey de tu gloria?
21¿Qué dirás cuando te visitará? porque tú los enseñaste á ser príncipes y cabeza sobre ti. ¿No te tomarán dolores como á mujer que pare?
22Cuando dijeres en tu corazón: ¿Por qué me ha sobrevenido esto? Por la enormidad de tu maldad fueron descubiertas tus faldas, fueron desnudos tus calcañares.
23¿Mudará el negro su pellejo, y el leopardo sus manchas? Así también podréis vosotros hacer bien, estando habituados á hacer mal.
24Por tanto yo los esparciré, como tamo que pasa, al viento del desierto.
25Esta es tu suerte, la porción de tus medidas de parte mía, dice Jehová; porque te olvidaste de mí, y confiaste en la mentira.
26Yo pues descubriré también tus faldas delante de tu cara, y se manifestará tu ignominia.
27Tus adulterios, tus relinchos, la maldad de tu fornicación sobre los collados: en el mismo campo vi tus abominaciones. ¡Ay de ti, Jerusalem! ¿No serás al cabo limpia? ¿hasta cuándo todavía?

1Thus saith the LORD unto me, Go and get thee a linen girdle, and put it upon thy loins, and put it not in water.
2So I got a girdle according to the word of the LORD, and put it on my loins.
3And the word of the LORD came unto me the second time, saying,
4Take the girdle that thou hast got, which is upon thy loins, and arise, go to Euphrates, and hide it there in a hole of the rock.
5So I went, and hid it by Euphrates, as the LORD commanded me.
6And it came to pass after many days, that the LORD said unto me, Arise, go to Euphrates, and take the girdle from thence, which I commanded thee to hide there.
7Then I went to Euphrates, and digged, and took the girdle from the place where I had hid it: and, behold, the girdle was marred, it was profitable for nothing.
8Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
9Thus saith the LORD, After this manner will I mar the pride of Judah, and the great pride of Jerusalem.
10This evil people, which refuse to hear my words, which walk in the imagination of their heart, and walk after other gods, to serve them, and to worship them, shall even be as this girdle, which is good for nothing.
11For as the girdle cleaveth to the loins of a man, so have I caused to cleave unto me the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah, saith the LORD; that they might be unto me for a people, and for a name, and for a praise, and for a glory: but they would not hear.
12Therefore thou shalt speak unto them this word; Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Every bottle shall be filled with wine: and they shall say unto thee, Do we not certainly know that every bottle shall be filled with wine?
13Then shalt thou say unto them, Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will fill all the inhabitants of this land, even the kings that sit upon David’s throne, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, with drunkenness.
14And I will dash them one against another, even the fathers and the sons together, saith the LORD: I will not pity, nor spare, nor have mercy, but destroy them.
15Hear ye, and give ear; be not proud: for the LORD hath spoken.
16Give glory to the LORD your God, before he cause darkness, and before your feet stumble upon the dark mountains, and, while ye look for light, he turn it into the shadow of death, and make it gross darkness.
17But if ye will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret places for your pride; and mine eye shall weep sore, and run down with tears, because the LORD’s flock is carried away captive.
18Say unto the king and to the queen, Humble yourselves, sit down: for your principalities shall come down, even the crown of your glory.
19The cities of the south shall be shut up, and none shall open them: Judah shall be carried away captive all of it, it shall be wholly carried away captive.
20Lift up your eyes, and behold them that come from the north: where is the flock that was given thee, thy beautiful flock?
21What wilt thou say when he shall punish thee? for thou hast taught them to be captains, and as chief over thee: shall not sorrows take thee, as a woman in travail?
22And if thou say in thine heart, Wherefore come these things upon me? For the greatness of thine iniquity are thy skirts discovered, and thy heels made bare.
23Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil.
24Therefore will I scatter them as the stubble that passeth away by the wind of the wilderness.
25This is thy lot, the portion of thy measures from me, saith the LORD; because thou hast forgotten me, and trusted in falsehood.
26Therefore will I discover thy skirts upon thy face, that thy shame may appear.
27I have seen thine adulteries, and thy neighings, the lewdness of thy whoredom, and thine abominations on the hills in the fields. Woe unto thee, O Jerusalem! wilt thou not be made clean? when shall it once be?
World English Bible
1The LORD said to me, “Go, and buy yourself a linen belt, and put it on your waist, and don’t put it in water.”
2So I bought a belt according to the LORD’s word, and put it on my waist.
3The LORD’s word came to me the second time, saying,
4“Take the belt that you have bought, which is on your waist, and arise, go to the Euphrates, and hide it there in a cleft of the rock.”
5So I went and hid it by the Euphrates, as the LORD commanded me.
6After many days, the LORD said to me, “Arise, go to the Euphrates, and take the belt from there, which I commanded you to hide there.”
7Then I went to the Euphrates, and dug, and took the belt from the place where I had hidden it; and behold, the belt was ruined. It was profitable for nothing.
8Then the LORD’s word came to me, saying,
9“The LORD says, ‘In this way I will ruin the pride of Judah, and the great pride of Jerusalem.
10This evil people, who refuse to hear my words, who walk in the stubbornness of their heart, and have gone after other gods to serve them and to worship them, will even be as this belt, which is profitable for nothing.
11For as the belt clings to the waist of a man, so I have caused the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah to cling to me,’ says the LORD; ‘that they may be to me for a people, for a name, for praise, and for glory; but they would not hear.’
12“Therefore you shall speak to them this word: ‘The LORD, the God of Israel says, “Every container should be filled with wine.”’ They will tell you, ‘Do we not certainly know that every container should be filled with wine?’
13Then tell them, ‘The LORD says, “Behold, I will fill all the inhabitants of this land, even the kings who sit on David’s throne, the priests, the prophets, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, with drunkenness.
14I will dash them one against another, even the fathers and the sons together,” says the LORD: “I will not pity, spare, or have compassion, that I should not destroy them.”’”
15Hear, and give ear. Don’t be proud, for the LORD has spoken.
16Give glory to the LORD your God, before he causes darkness, and before your feet stumble on the dark mountains, and while you look for light, he turns it into the shadow of death, and makes it deep darkness.
17But if you will not hear it, my soul will weep in secret for your pride. My eye will weep bitterly, and run down with tears, because the LORD’s flock has been taken captive.
18Say to the king and to the queen mother, “Humble yourselves. Sit down, for your crowns have come down, even the crown of your glory.
19The cities of the South are shut up, and there is no one to open them. Judah is carried away captive: all of them. They are wholly carried away captive.
20Lift up your eyes, and see those who come from the north. Where is the flock that was given to you, your beautiful flock?
21What will you say when he sets over you as head those whom you have yourself taught to be friends to you? Won’t sorrows take hold of you, as of a woman in travail?
22If you say in your heart, “Why have these things come on me?” Your skirts are uncovered because of the greatness of your iniquity, and your heels suffer violence.
23Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? Then may you also do good, who are accustomed to do evil.
24“Therefore I will scatter them as the stubble that passes away by the wind of the wilderness.
25This is your lot, the portion measured to you from me,” says the LORD, “because you have forgotten me, and trusted in falsehood.”
26Therefore I will also uncover your skirts on your face, and your shame will appear.
27I have seen your abominations, even your adulteries and your neighing, the lewdness of your prostitution, on the hills in the field. Woe to you, Jerusalem! You will not be made clean. How long will it yet be?”
