Perocché le leggi de' popoli sono vane: conciossiachè l'artefice tronca colla scure una pianta nel bosco, e la lavora,

Porque las ordenanzas de los pueblos son vanidad: porque leño del monte cortaron, obra de manos de artífice con azuela.

For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.
