1Die Israeliten thaten jedoch aufs Neue, was Jahwe mißfiel - Ehud war nämlich gestorben.
2Da verkaufte sie Jahwe in die Gewalt Jabins, des Königs von Kanaan, der in Hazor regierte. Sein Feldherr aber war Sisera; dieser wohnte im Haroseth der Heiden.
3Da schrien die Israeliten zu Jahwe um Hilfe. Er besaß nämlich 900 eiserne Wagen und er bedrückte die Israeliten gewaltig, zwanzig Jahre lang.
4Und Debora, eine Prophetin, das Weib Lapidoths, die sprach Israel zu jener Zeit Recht.
5Und zwar wohnte sie unter der Deborapalme zwischen Rama und Bethel auf dem Gebirge Ephraim, und die Israeliten pflegten zu ihr hinzugehen, um sich Urteilssprüche zu holen.
6Die sandte hin und ließ Barak, den Sohn Abinoams, aus Kedes in Naphthali rufen und sprach zu ihm: Wahrlich! Jahwe, der Gott Israels, gebietet: Mache dich auf den Weg, ziehe hin auf den Berg Thabor und nimm mit dir 10000 Mann aus den Naphthaliten und den Sebuloniten;
7dann werde ich Sisera, den Feldherrn Jabins, samt seinen Wagen und seinen Haufen zu dir hin nach dem Bache Kison bringen und werde ihn in deine Gewalt geben.
8Barak antwortete ihr: Wenn du mit mir gehst, will ich gehen; wenn du aber nicht mit mir gehst, gehe ich nicht!
9Sie erwiderte: Ich werde in der That mit dir gehen; doch wird der Ruhm auf dem Wege, den du gehst, nicht dir zufallen, sondern in eines Weibes Gewalt wird Jahwe Sisera verkaufen! Und Debora machte sich auf und ging mit Barak nach Kedes.
10Hierauf entbot Barak Sebulon und Naphthali nach Kedes; 10000 Mann folgten ihm auf dem Fuße hinauf, und auch Debora zog mit ihm hinauf.
11Der Keniter Heber aber hatte sich von Kain, von den Nachkommen Hobabs, des Schwiegervaters Moses, getrennt und schlug hin und her sein Zelt auf bis zur Eiche bei Zaanaim, das bei Kedes liegt.
12Als man Sisera meldete, daß Barak, der Sohn Abinoams, auf den Berg Thabor gezogen sei,
13da entbot Sisera alle seine Wagen, 900 eiserne Wagen, und das gesamte Kriegsvolk, das er um sich hatte, aus dem Haroseth der Heiden an den Bach Kison.
14Da sprach Debora zu Barak: Auf! denn dies ist der Tag, an dem Jahwe Sisera in deine Gewalt gegeben hat; ist doch Jahwe selbst vor dir her ausgezogen! So stieg denn Barak vom Berge Thabor herab und 10000 Mann folgten ihm.
15Da setzte Jahwe Sisera und alle die Wagen und sein ganzes Heer durch scharfes Dreinschlagen vor Barak her in Verwirrung, und Sisera stieg vom Wagen und floh zu Fuße.
16Barak aber jagte hinter den Wagen und dem Heere her bis zum Haroseth der Heiden und das ganze Heer Siseras fiel durchs Schwert, und auch nicht einer blieb übrig.
17Sisera aber war zu Fuße zum Zelte Jaels, des Weibes des Keniters Heber, geflohen; denn zwischen Jabin, dem Könige von Hazor, und dem Hause des Keniters Heber herrschte Friede.
18Da trat Jael heraus Sisera entgegen und sprach zu ihm: Kehre ein, o Herr, kehre ein zu mir; du hast nichts zu fürchten! Da kehrte er zu ihr ein ins Zelt, und sie deckte ihn mit einem Teppich zu.
19Er aber bat sie: Willst du mir nicht ein wenig Wasser zu trinken geben? ich bin durstig! Da öffnete sie den Milchschlauch und gab ihm zu trinken; sodann deckte sie ihn wieder zu.
20Hierauf bat er sie: Tritt an die Thüre des Zeltes, und wenn jemand kommt und dich fragt und spricht: Ist jemand hier? so sage: Nein!
21Da ergriff Jael, das Weib Hebers, einen Zeltpflock, nahm den Hammer in die Hand, trat leise an ihn heran und schlug ihm den Pflock durch die Schläfe, so daß er in die Erde eindrang; er war nämlich fest eingeschlafen. Da wurde er ohnmächtig und starb.
22Da gerade erschien Barak, in der Verfolgung Siseras begriffen. Jael aber trat hinaus ihm entgegen und rief ihm zu: Komm, ich will dir den Mann zeigen, den du suchst! Und als er zu ihr eintrat, fand er Sisera tot daliegend, und der Pflock stak noch in seiner Schläfe.
23So ließ Gott damals Jabin, den König von Kanaan, vor den Israeliten unterliegen.
24Und die Hand der Israeliten lastete immer schwerer auf Jabin, dem Könige von Kanaan, bis sie Jabin, den König von Kanaan, vernichtet hatten.

1MAS los hijos de Israel tornaron á hacer lo malo en ojos de Jehová, después de la muerte de Aod.
2Y Jehová los vendió en mano de Jabín rey de Canaán, el cual reinó en Asor: y el capitán de su ejército se llamaba Sísara, y él habitaba en Haroseth de las Gentes.
3Y los hijos de Israel clamaron á Jehová, porque aquél tenía nuevecientos carros herrados: y había afligido en gran manera á los hijos de Israel por veinte años.
4Y gobernaba en aquel tiempo á Israel una mujer, Débora, profetisa, mujer de Lapidoth:
5La cual Débora habitaba debajo de una palma entre Rama y Beth-el, en el monte de Ephraim: y los hijos de Israel subían á ella á juicio.
6Y ella envió á llamar á Barac hijo de Abinoam, de Cedes de Nephtalí, y díjole: ¿No te ha mandado Jehová Dios de Israel, diciendo: Ve, y haz gente en el monte de Tabor, y toma contigo diez mil hombres de los hijos de Nephtalí, y de los hijos de Zabulón:
7Y yo atraeré á ti al arroyo de Cisón á Sísara, capitán del ejército de Jabín, con sus carros y su ejército, y entregarélo en tus manos?
8Y Barac le respondió: Si tú fueres conmigo, yo iré: pero si no fueres conmigo, no iré.
9Y ella dijo: Iré contigo; mas no será tu honra en el camino que vas; porque en mano de mujer venderá Jehová á Sísara. Y levantándose Débora fué con Barac á Cedes.
10Y juntó Barac á Zabulón y á Nephtalí en Cedes, y subió con diez mil hombres á su mando, y Débora subió con él.
11Y Heber Cineo, de los hijos de Hobab suegro de Moisés, se había apartado de los Cineos, y puesto su tienda hasta el valle de Zaananim, que está junto á Cedes.
12Vinieron pues las nuevas á Sísara como Barac hijo de Abinoam había subido al monte de Tabor.
13Y reunió Sísara todos sus carros, nuevecientos carros herrados, con todo el pueblo que con él estaba, desde Haroseth de las Gentes hasta el arroyo de Cisón.
14Entonces Débora dijo á Barac: Levántate; porque este es el día en que Jehová ha entregado á Sísara en tus manos. ¿No ha salido Jehová delante de ti? Y Barac descendió del monte de Tabor, y diez mil hombres en pos de él.
15Y Jehová desbarató á Sísara, y á todos sus carros y á todo su ejército, á filo de espada delante de Barac: y Sísara descendió del carro, y huyó á pie.
16Mas Barac siguió los carros y el ejército hasta Haroseth de las Gentes, y todo el ejército de Sísara cayó á filo de espada, hasta no quedar ni uno.
17Y Sísara se acogió á pie á la tienda de Jael mujer de Heber Cineo; porque había paz entre Jabín rey de Asor y la casa de Heber Cineo.
18Y saliendo Jael á recibir á Sísara, díjole: Ven, señor mío, ven á mí, no tengas temor. Y él vino á ella á la tienda, y ella le cubrió con una manta.
19Y él le dijo: Ruégote me des á beber una poca de agua, que tengo sed. Y ella abrió un odre de leche y dióle de beber, y tornóle á cubrir.
20Y él le dijo: Estáte á la puerta de la tienda, y si alguien viniere, y te preguntare, diciendo: ¿Hay aquí alguno? tú responderás que no.
21Y Jael, mujer de Heber, tomó una estaca de la tienda, y poniendo un mazo en su mano, vino á él calladamente, y metióle la estaca por las sienes, y enclavólo en la tierra, pues él estaba cargado de sueño y cansado; y así murió.
22Y siguiendo Barac á Sísara, Jael salió á recibirlo, y díjole: Ven, y te mostraré al varón que tú buscas. Y él entró donde ella estaba, y he aquí Sísara yacía muerto con la estaca por la sien.
23Así abatió Dios aquel día á Jabín, rey de Canaán, delante de los hijos de Israel.
24Y la mano de los hijos de Israel comenzó á crecer y á fortificarse contra Jabín rey de Canaán, hasta que lo destruyeron.

1And the children of Israel again did evil in the sight of the LORD, when Ehud was dead.
2And the LORD sold them into the hand of Jabin king of Canaan, that reigned in Hazor; the captain of whose host was Sisera, which dwelt in Harosheth of the Gentiles.
3And the children of Israel cried unto the LORD: for he had nine hundred chariots of iron; and twenty years he mightily oppressed the children of Israel.
4And Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, she judged Israel at that time.
5And she dwelt under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Beth-el in mount Ephraim: and the children of Israel came up to her for judgment.
6And she sent and called Barak the son of Abinoam out of Kedesh-naphtali, and said unto him, Hath not the LORD God of Israel commanded, saying, Go and draw toward mount Tabor, and take with thee ten thousand men of the children of Naphtali and of the children of Zebulun?
7And I will draw unto thee to the river Kishon Sisera, the captain of Jabin’s army, with his chariots and his multitude; and I will deliver him into thine hand.
8And Barak said unto her, If thou wilt go with me, then I will go: but if thou wilt not go with me, then I will not go.
9And she said, I will surely go with thee: notwithstanding the journey that thou takest shall not be for thine honour; for the LORD shall sell Sisera into the hand of a woman. And Deborah arose, and went with Barak to Kedesh.
10And Barak called Zebulun and Naphtali to Kedesh; and he went up with ten thousand men at his feet: and Deborah went up with him.
11Now Heber the Kenite, which was of the children of Hobab the father in law of Moses, had severed himself from the Kenites, and pitched his tent unto the plain of Zaanaim, which is by Kedesh.
12And they shewed Sisera that Barak the son of Abinoam was gone up to mount Tabor.
13And Sisera gathered together all his chariots, even nine hundred chariots of iron, and all the people that were with him, from Harosheth of the Gentiles unto the river of Kishon.
14And Deborah said unto Barak, Up; for this is the day in which the LORD hath delivered Sisera into thine hand: is not the LORD gone out before thee? So Barak went down from mount Tabor, and ten thousand men after him.
15And the LORD discomfited Sisera, and all his chariots, and all his host, with the edge of the sword before Barak; so that Sisera lighted down off his chariot, and fled away on his feet.
16But Barak pursued after the chariots, and after the host, unto Harosheth of the Gentiles: and all the host of Sisera fell upon the edge of the sword; and there was not a man left.
17Howbeit Sisera fled away on his feet to the tent of Jael the wife of Heber the Kenite: for there was peace between Jabin the king of Hazor and the house of Heber the Kenite.
18And Jael went out to meet Sisera, and said unto him, Turn in, my lord, turn in to me; fear not. And when he had turned in unto her into the tent, she covered him with a mantle.
19And he said unto her, Give me, I pray thee, a little water to drink; for I am thirsty. And she opened a bottle of milk, and gave him drink, and covered him.
20Again he said unto her, Stand in the door of the tent, and it shall be, when any man doth come and enquire of thee, and say, Is there any man here? that thou shalt say, No.
21Then Jael Heber’s wife took a nail of the tent, and took an hammer in her hand, and went softly unto him, and smote the nail into his temples, and fastened it into the ground: for he was fast asleep and weary. So he died.
22And, behold, as Barak pursued Sisera, Jael came out to meet him, and said unto him, Come, and I will shew thee the man whom thou seekest. And when he came into her tent, behold, Sisera lay dead, and the nail was in his temples.
23So God subdued on that day Jabin the king of Canaan before the children of Israel.
24And the hand of the children of Israel prospered, and prevailed against Jabin the king of Canaan, until they had destroyed Jabin king of Canaan.

1The children of Israel again did that which was evil in the LORD’s sight, when Ehud was dead.
2The LORD sold them into the hand of Jabin king of Canaan, who reigned in Hazor; the captain of whose army was Sisera, who lived in Harosheth of the Gentiles.
3The children of Israel cried to the LORD, for he had nine hundred chariots of iron; and he mightily oppressed the children of Israel for twenty years.
4Now Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lappidoth, judged Israel at that time.
5She lived under Deborah’s palm tree between Ramah and Bethel in the hill country of Ephraim; and the children of Israel came up to her for judgment.
6She sent and called Barak the son of Abinoam out of Kedesh Naphtali, and said to him, “Hasn’t the LORD, the God of Israel, commanded, ‘Go and lead the way to Mount Tabor, and take with you ten thousand men of the children of Naphtali and of the children of Zebulun?
7I will draw to you, to the river Kishon, Sisera, the captain of Jabin’s army, with his chariots and his multitude; and I will deliver him into your hand.’”
8Barak said to her, “If you will go with me, then I will go; but if you will not go with me, I will not go.”
9She said, “I will surely go with you. Nevertheless, the journey that you take won’t be for your honor; for the LORD will sell Sisera into a woman’s hand.” Deborah arose, and went with Barak to Kedesh.
10Barak called Zebulun and Naphtali together to Kedesh. Ten thousand men followed him; and Deborah went up with him.
11Now Heber the Kenite had separated himself from the Kenites, even from the children of Hobab, Moses’ brother-in-law, and had pitched his tent as far as the oak in Zaanannim, which is by Kedesh.
12They told Sisera that Barak the son of Abinoam had gone up to Mount Tabor.
13Sisera gathered together all his chariots, even nine hundred chariots of iron, and all the people who were with him, from Harosheth of the Gentiles, to the river Kishon.
14Deborah said to Barak, “Go; for this is the day in which the LORD has delivered Sisera into your hand. Hasn’t the LORD gone out before you?” So Barak went down from Mount Tabor, and ten thousand men after him.
15The LORD confused Sisera, all his chariots, and all his army, with the edge of the sword before Barak. Sisera abandoned his chariot and fled away on his feet.
16But Barak pursued the chariots and the army to Harosheth of the Gentiles; and all the army of Sisera fell by the edge of the sword. There was not a man left.
17However Sisera fled away on his feet to the tent of Jael the wife of Heber the Kenite; for there was peace between Jabin the king of Hazor and the house of Heber the Kenite.
18Jael went out to meet Sisera, and said to him, “Turn in, my lord, turn in to me; don’t be afraid.” He came in to her into the tent, and she covered him with a rug.
19He said to her, “Please give me a little water to drink; for I am thirsty.” She opened a container of milk, and gave him a drink, and covered him.
20He said to her, “Stand in the door of the tent, and if any man comes and inquires of you, and says, ‘Is there any man here?’ you shall say, ‘No.’”
21Then Jael, Heber’s wife, took a tent peg, and took a hammer in her hand, and went softly to him, and struck the pin into his temples, and it pierced through into the ground, for he was in a deep sleep; so he fainted and died.
22Behold, as Barak pursued Sisera, Jael came out to meet him, and said to him, “Come, and I will show you the man whom you seek.” He came to her; and behold, Sisera lay dead, and the tent peg was in his temples.
23So God subdued Jabin the king of Canaan before the children of Israel on that day.
24The hand of the children of Israel prevailed more and more against Jabin the king of Canaan, until they had destroyed Jabin king of Canaan.
