Tafel-Bibel
1Und das sind die Völkerschaften, die Jehovah ließ bleiben, daß Er an ihnen Israel versuchete, alle, die nichts wußten von all den Kriegen Kanaans.
2Nur damit die Geschlechter der Söhne Israel es wüßten, um sie streiten zu lehren, nur sie, die vordem davon nichts wußten:
3Die fünf Fürsten der Philister und alle Kanaaniter und die Zidonier und die Chiviter, die da wohnen auf dem Berge Libanon, vom Berge Baal Chermon, bis man kommt gen Chamath.
4Und sie waren dazu da, Israel an ihnen zu versuchen, auf daß man wisse, ob sie auf die Gebote Jehovahs, die Er ihren Vätern durch Moses Hand geboten hatte, hören wollten.
5Und die Söhne Israels wohnten inmitten der Kanaaniter, der Chethiter und Amoriter und Pherisiter und Chiviter und Jebusiter.
6Und sie nahmen sich ihre Töchter zu Weibern und gaben ihre Töchter ihren Söhnen und dienten ihren Göttern.
7Und die Söhne Israels taten Böses in den Augen Jehovahs und vergaßen Jehovahs, ihres Gottes, und dienten den Baalim und den Ascheren.
8Und es entbrannte der Zorn Jehovahs gegen Israel, und Er verkaufte sie in die Hand des Kuschan Rischathajim, König von Aram der beiden Flüsse, und die Söhne Israels dienten dem Kuschan Rischathajim acht Jahre.
9Und die Söhne Israels schrien zu Jehovah, und Jehovah ließ den Söhnen Israels einen Retter erstehen, und er rettete sie: Othniel, den Sohn des Kenas, des Bruders von Kaleb, jünger als er.
10Und der Geist Jehovahs war auf ihm, und er richtete Israel und zog zum Streite aus, und Jehovah gab Kuschan Rischathajim, den König Arams, in seine Hand; und seine Hand ward stark über Kuschan Rischathajim.
11Und das Land war stille vierzig Jahre, und Othniel, des Kenas Sohn, starb.
12Und die Söhne Israels taten wiederum Böses in den Augen Jehovahs, und Jehovah stärkte Eglon, Moabs König, wider Israel, darum, daß sie taten, was böse war in den Augen Jehovahs.
13Und er sammelte wider dasselbe die Söhne Ammons und Amaleks und zog hin und schlug Israel und sie nahmen ein die Palmenstadt.
14Und die Söhne Israels dienten Eglon, Moabs König, achtzehn Jahre.
15Und die Söhne Israels schrien zu Jehovah, und Jehovah ließ ihnen erstehen einen Retter, den Ehud, Geras Sohn, den Benjaminiter, einen Mann, dessen rechte Hand lahm war; und die Söhne Israels sandten durch seine Hand an Eglon, Moabs König, ein Geschenk.
16Und Ehud machte sich ein Schwert, das zwei Schneiden hatte, eine Elle lang, und gürtete es unter seine Obergewänder auf seine rechte Hüfte.
17Und er brachte das Geschenk dar dem Eglon, dem König von Moab. Eglon aber war ein sehr feister Mann.
18Und es geschah, da er das Darbringen des Geschenkes vollendet, da entließ er das Volk, welches das Geschenk getragen hatte;
19Und er kehrte von den Schnitzbildern, die bei Gilgal sind, zurück und sprach: Ich habe ein geheimes Wort an dich, König. Und er gebot Stille, und alle gingen von ihm hinaus, die bei ihm gestanden.
20Und Ehud kam zu ihm hinein. Und er saß in dem Söller seines Kühlungsgemachs allein. Und Ehud sprach: Ich habe ein Wort Gottes an dich. Und er stand auf von seinem Thron.
21Und Ehud reckte seine linke Hand aus und nahm das Schwert von seiner rechten Hüfte und stieß es ihm in den Leib,
22Und auch das Heft ging nach der Klinge hinein, und das Fett schloß sich hinter der Klinge, denn er zog das Schwert nicht aus seinem Leib, und es ging durch den Mastdarm hinaus.
23Und Ehud ging auf den Vorsaal hinaus und verschloß die Türen des Söllers hinter sich und riegelte.
24Und er ging hinaus und seine Diener kamen und sahen, und siehe, die Türen des Söllers waren verriegelt, und sie sprachen: Er bedeckt nur seine Füße in der Kammer des Kühlungsgemachs.
25Und sie warteten, bis sie sich schämten, und siehe, niemand öffnete die Türen des Söllers, und sie nahmen den Schlüssel und öffneten, und siehe, ihr Herr war zur Erde gefallen, tot.
26Und Ehud entrann, während sie zauderten, und kam an den Schnitzbildern vorüber und entrann nach Seirath.
27Und wie er dorthin kam, stieß er auf dem Gebirge Ephraim in die Posaune. Und die Söhne Israels kamen hinter ihm vom Berge herab und er vor ihnen her.
28Und er sprach zu ihnen: Setzet mir nach; denn Jehovah hat eure Feinde, die Moabiter, in eure Hand gegeben, und sie kamen hinter ihm herab und gewannen die Furten des Jordans, Moab zu, und gestatteten niemand, überzusetzen;
29Und sie schlugen Moab zu selbiger Zeit bei zehntausend Mann, alle feiste und alle tapfere Männer, und kein Mann entrann.
30Und Moab wurde am selbigen Tage unter die Hand Israels niedergebeugt, und das Land war stille achtzig Jahre.
31Und nach ihm war Schamgar, der Sohn des Anath; und er schlug den Philistern sechshundert Mann mit einem Ochsenstecken, und auch er rettete Israel.

1ESTAS, pues, son las gentes que dejó Jehová para probar con ellas á Israel, á todos aquellos que no habían conocido todas las guerras de Canaán;
2Para que al menos el linaje de los hijos de Israel conociese, para enseñarlos en la guerra, siquiera fuese á los que antes no la habían conocido:
3Cinco príncipes de los Philisteos, y todos los Cananeos, y los Sidonios, y los Heveos que habitaban en el monte Líbano: desde el monte de Baal-hermón hasta llegar á Hamath.
4Estos pues fueron para probar por ellos á Israel, para saber si obedecerían á los mandamientos de Jehová, que él había prescrito á sus padres por mano de Moisés.
5Así los hijos de Israel habitaban entre los Cananeos, Hetheos, Amorrheos, Pherezeos, Heveos, y Jebuseos:
6Y tomaron de sus hijas por mujeres, y dieron sus hijas á los hijos de ellos, y sirvieron á sus dioses.
7Hicieron, pues, los hijos de Israel lo malo en ojos de Jehová: y olvidados de Jehová su Dios, sirvieron á los Baales, y á los ídolos de los bosques.
8Y la saña de Jehová se encendió contra Israel, y vendiólos en manos de Chusan-risathaim, rey de Mesopotamia; y sirvieron los hijos de Israel á Chusan-risathaim ocho años.
9Y clamaron los hijos de Israel á Jehová; y Jehová suscitó salvador á los hijos de Israel y librólos; es á saber, á Othoniel hijo de Cenez, hermano menor de Caleb.
10Y el espíritu de Jehová fué sobre él, y juzgó á Israel, y salió á batalla, y Jehová entregó en su mano á Chusan-risathaim, rey de Siria, y prevaleció su mano contra Chusan-risathaim.
11Y reposó la tierra cuarenta años; y murió Othoniel, hijo de Cenez.
12Y tornaron los hijos de Israel á hacer lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová; y Jehová esforzó á Eglón rey de Moab contra Israel, por cuanto habían hecho lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová.
13Y juntó consigo á los hijos de Ammón y de Amalec, y fué, é hirió á Israel, y tomó la ciudad de las palmas.
14Y sirvieron los hijos de Israel á Eglón rey de los Moabitas diez y ocho años.
15Y clamaron los hijos de Israel á Jehová; y Jehová les suscitó salvador, á Aod, hijo de Gera, Benjamita, el cual tenía cerrada la mano derecha. Y los hijos de Israel enviaron con él un presente á Eglón rey de Moab.
16Y Aod se había hecho un puñal de dos filos, de un codo de largo; y ciñósele debajo de sus vestidos á su lado derecho.
17Y presentó el presente á Eglón rey de Moab; y era Eglón hombre muy grueso.
18Y luego que hubo presentado el don, despidió á la gente que lo había traído.
19Mas él se volvió desde los ídolos que están en Gilgal, y dijo: Rey, una palabra secreta tengo que decirte. El entonces dijo: Calla. Y saliéronse de con él todos los que delante de él estaban.
20Y llegóse Aod á él, el cual estaba sentado solo en una sala de verano. Y Aod dijo: Tengo palabra de Dios para ti. El entonces se levantó de la silla.
21Mas Aod metió su mano izquierda, y tomó el puñal de su lado derecho, y metióselo por el vientre;
22De tal manera que la empuñadura entró también tras la hoja, y la grosura encerró la hoja, que él no sacó el puñal de su vientre: y salió el estiércol.
23Y saliendo Aod al patio, cerró tras sí las puertas de la sala.
24Y salido él, vinieron sus siervos, los cuales viendo las puertas de la sala cerradas, dijeron: Sin duda él cubre sus pies en la sala de verano.
25Y habiendo esperado hasta estar confusos, pues que él no abría las puertas de la sala, tomaron la llave y abrieron: y he aquí su señor caído en tierra muerto.
26Mas entre tanto que ellos se detuvieron, Aod se escapó, y pasando los ídolos, salvóse en Seirath.
27Y como hubo entrado, tocó el cuerno en el monte de Ephraim, y los hijos de Israel descendieron con él del monte, y él iba delante de ellos.
28Entonces él les dijo: Seguidme, porque Jehová ha entregado vuestros enemigos los Moabitas en vuestras manos. Y descendieron en pos de él, y tomaron los vados del Jordán á Moab, y no dejaron pasar á ninguno.
29Y en aquel tiempo hirieron de los Moabitas como diez mil hombres, todos valientes y todos hombres de guerra; no escapó hombre.
30Así quedó Moab sojuzgado aquel día bajo la mano de Israel: y reposó la tierra ochenta años.
31Después de éste fué Samgar hijo de Anat, el cual hirió seiscientos hombres de los Filisteos con una aguijada de bueyes; y él también salvó á Israel.

1Now these are the nations which the LORD left, to prove Israel by them, even as many of Israel as had not known all the wars of Canaan;
2Only that the generations of the children of Israel might know, to teach them war, at the least such as before knew nothing thereof;
3Namely, five lords of the Philistines, and all the Canaanites, and the Sidonians, and the Hivites that dwelt in mount Lebanon, from mount Baal-hermon unto the entering in of Hamath.
4And they were to prove Israel by them, to know whether they would hearken unto the commandments of the LORD, which he commanded their fathers by the hand of Moses.
5And the children of Israel dwelt among the Canaanites, Hittites, and Amorites, and Perizzites, and Hivites, and Jebusites:
6And they took their daughters to be their wives, and gave their daughters to their sons, and served their gods.
7And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and forgat the LORD their God, and served Baalim and the groves.
8Therefore the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of Chushan-rishathaim king of Mesopotamia: and the children of Israel served Chushan-rishathaim eight years.
9And when the children of Israel cried unto the LORD, the LORD raised up a deliverer to the children of Israel, who delivered them, even Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother.
10And the Spirit of the LORD came upon him, and he judged Israel, and went out to war: and the LORD delivered Chushan-rishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand; and his hand prevailed against Chushan-rishathaim.
11And the land had rest forty years. And Othniel the son of Kenaz died.
12And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the LORD: and the LORD strengthened Eglon the king of Moab against Israel, because they had done evil in the sight of the LORD.
13And he gathered unto him the children of Ammon and Amalek, and went and smote Israel, and possessed the city of palm trees.
14So the children of Israel served Eglon the king of Moab eighteen years.
15But when the children of Israel cried unto the LORD, the LORD raised them up a deliverer, Ehud the son of Gera, a Benjamite, a man lefthanded: and by him the children of Israel sent a present unto Eglon the king of Moab.
16But Ehud made him a dagger which had two edges, of a cubit length; and he did gird it under his raiment upon his right thigh.
17And he brought the present unto Eglon king of Moab: and Eglon was a very fat man.
18And when he had made an end to offer the present, he sent away the people that bare the present.
19But he himself turned again from the quarries that were by Gilgal, and said, I have a secret errand unto thee, O king: who said, Keep silence. And all that stood by him went out from him.
20And Ehud came unto him; and he was sitting in a summer parlour, which he had for himself alone. And Ehud said, I have a message from God unto thee. And he arose out of his seat.
21And Ehud put forth his left hand, and took the dagger from his right thigh, and thrust it into his belly:
22And the haft also went in after the blade; and the fat closed upon the blade, so that he could not draw the dagger out of his belly; and the dirt came out.
23Then Ehud went forth through the porch, and shut the doors of the parlour upon him, and locked them.
24When he was gone out, his servants came; and when they saw that, behold, the doors of the parlour were locked, they said, Surely he covereth his feet in his summer chamber.
25And they tarried till they were ashamed: and, behold, he opened not the doors of the parlour; therefore they took a key, and opened them: and, behold, their lord was fallen down dead on the earth.
26And Ehud escaped while they tarried, and passed beyond the quarries, and escaped unto Seirath.
27And it came to pass, when he was come, that he blew a trumpet in the mountain of Ephraim, and the children of Israel went down with him from the mount, and he before them.
28And he said unto them, Follow after me: for the LORD hath delivered your enemies the Moabites into your hand. And they went down after him, and took the fords of Jordan toward Moab, and suffered not a man to pass over.
29And they slew of Moab at that time about ten thousand men, all lusty, and all men of valour; and there escaped not a man.
30So Moab was subdued that day under the hand of Israel. And the land had rest fourscore years.
31And after him was Shamgar the son of Anath, which slew of the Philistines six hundred men with an ox goad: and he also delivered Israel.
World English Bible
1Now these are the nations which the LORD left, to test Israel by them, even as many as had not known all the wars of Canaan;
2only that the generations of the children of Israel might know, to teach them war, at least those who knew nothing of it before:
3the five lords of the Philistines, all the Canaanites, the Sidonians, and the Hivites who lived on Mount Lebanon, from Mount Baal Hermon to the entrance of Hamath.
4They were left to test Israel by them, to know whether they would listen to the LORD’s commandments, which he commanded their fathers by Moses.
5The children of Israel lived among the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites.
6They took their daughters to be their wives, and gave their own daughters to their sons and served their gods.
7The children of Israel did that which was evil in the LORD’s sight, and forgot the LORD their God, and served the Baals and the Asheroth.
8Therefore the LORD’s anger burned against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of Cushan Rishathaim king of Mesopotamia; and the children of Israel served Cushan Rishathaim eight years.

11The land had rest forty years, then Othniel the son of Kenaz died.
12The children of Israel again did that which was evil in the LORD’s sight, and the LORD strengthened Eglon the king of Moab against Israel, because they had done that which was evil in the LORD’s sight.
13He gathered the children of Ammon and Amalek to himself; and he went and struck Israel, and they possessed the city of palm trees.
14The children of Israel served Eglon the king of Moab eighteen years.
15But when the children of Israel cried to the LORD, the LORD raised up a savior for them: Ehud the son of Gera, the Benjamite, a left-handed man. The children of Israel sent tribute by him to Eglon the king of Moab.
16Ehud made himself a sword which had two edges, a cubit in length; and he wore it under his clothing on his right thigh.
17He offered the tribute to Eglon king of Moab. Now Eglon was a very fat man.
18When Ehud had finished offering the tribute, he sent away the people who carried the tribute.
19But he himself turned back from the stone idols that were by Gilgal, and said, “I have a secret message for you, O king.” The king said, “Keep silence!” All who stood by him left him.
20Ehud came to him; and he was sitting by himself alone in the cool upper room. Ehud said, “I have a message from God to you.” He arose out of his seat.
21Ehud put out his left hand, and took the sword from his right thigh, and thrust it into his body.
22The handle also went in after the blade; and the fat closed on the blade, for he didn’t draw the sword out of his body; and it came out behind.
23Then Ehud went out onto the porch, and shut the doors of the upper room on him, and locked them.
24After he had gone, his servants came and saw that the doors of the upper room were locked. They said, “Surely he is covering his feet in the upper room.”
25They waited until they were ashamed; and behold, he didn’t open the doors of the upper room. Therefore they took the key and opened them, and behold, their lord had fallen down dead on the floor.
26Ehud escaped while they waited, passed beyond the stone idols, and escaped to Seirah.
27When he had come, he blew a trumpet in the hill country of Ephraim; and the children of Israel went down with him from the hill country, and he led them.
28He said to them, “Follow me; for the LORD has delivered your enemies the Moabites into your hand.” They followed him, and took the fords of the Jordan against the Moabites, and didn’t allow any man to pass over.
29They struck at that time about ten thousand men of Moab, every strong man and every man of valor. No man escaped.
30So Moab was subdued that day under the hand of Israel. Then the land had rest eighty years.
31After him was Shamgar the son of Anath, who struck six hundred men of the Philistines with an ox goad. He also saved Israel.
