6Et ils lui disaient : Je te prie, dis : Schibboleth. Et il disait Sibboleth, sans prendre garde de bien prononcer. Et ils le saisissaient et l'égorgeaient près des gués du Jourdain. Et il périt alors d'Ephraïm quarante-deux mille hommes.

6Entonces le decían: Ahora pues, di, Shiboleth. Y él decía, Siboleth; porque no podía pronunciar de aquella suerte. Entonces le echaban mano, y le degollaban junto á los vados del Jordán. Y murieron entonces de los de Ephraim cuarenta y dos mil.

6Then said they unto him, Say now Shibboleth: and he said Sibboleth: for he could not frame to pronounce it right. Then they took him, and slew him at the passages of Jordan: and there fell at that time of the Ephraimites forty and two thousand.
World English Bible
6then they said to him, “Now say ‘Shibboleth;’” and he said “Sibboleth”; for he couldn’t manage to pronounce it correctly, then they seized him and killed him at the fords of the Jordan. At that time, forty-two thousand of Ephraim fell.
