1Et après Abimélech s'éleva, pour délivrer Israël, Thola, fils de Puali, fils de Dodo, homme d'Issaschar, lequel habitait Samir dans la montagne d'Ephraïm.
2Et il jugea Israël pendant vingt-trois ans, puis il mourut et reçut la sépulture à Samir.
3Et après lui s'éleva Jaïr de Galaad, qui jugea Israël pendant vingt-deux ans.
4Et il avait trente fils qui montaient trente ânes poulains, et ils possédaient trente villes, qu'on appelle encore aujourd'hui Bourgs de Jaïr, et elles sont dans le pays de Galaad.
5Et Jaïr étant mort reçut la sépulture à Kamon.
6Et les enfants d'Israël continuèrent à faire ce qui déplaît à l'Éternel et ils servirent les Baals et les Astartés et les dieux de Syrie et les dieux de Sidon et les dieux de Moab et les dieux des Ammonites et les dieux des Philistins, et abandonnèrent l'Éternel et son service.
7Et la colère de l'Éternel s'alluma contre les Israélites et Il les vendit entre les mains des Philistins et les mains des Ammonites.
8Et ils tourmentèrent et écrasèrent les enfants d'Israël cette année-là, et pendant dix-huit ans tous les enfants d'Israël habitant au delà du Jourdain dans le pays des Amoréens en Galaad.
9Et les Ammonites passèrent le Jourdain pour attaquer aussi Juda et Benjamin et la maison d'Ephraïm. Et Israël fut serré de très près.
10Alors les enfants d'Israël crièrent vers l'Éternel, disant : Nous avons péché contre toi, en abandonnant notre Dieu et en servant les Baals.
11Et l'Éternel dit aux enfants d'Israël : Ne vous avais-je pas délivrés des Égyptiens et des Amoréens, des Ammonites et des Philistins,
12et, lorsque les Sidoniens, Amalek et Maon, vous opprimèrent, et que vous avez crié vers moi, ne vous ai-je pas sauvés de leurs mains ?
13Mais vous, vous m'avez abandonné et vous avez servi d'autres dieux. C'est pourquoi je ne continuerai pas de vous délivrer.
14Allez et adressez vos cris aux dieux dont vous avez fait choix ! qu'ils vous délivrent au moment de votre détresse.
15Et les enfants d'Israël dirent à l'Éternel : Nous avons péché : traite-nous comme il te semblera bon ; seulement, oh ! sauve-nous aujourd'hui !
16Et ils firent disparaître du milieu d'eux les dieux de l'étranger et ils servirent l'Éternel. Alors Son âme ne put être indifférente aux tribulations d'Israël.
17Et les Ammonites se rassemblèrent et campèrent en Galaad, et les enfants d'Israël se réunirent et campèrent à Mitspa.
18Alors le peuple, les princes de Galaad se dirent l'un à l'autre : Quel est l'homme qui commencera l'attaque des Ammonites ? il deviendra le chef de tous les habitants de Galaad.

1Y DESPUÉS de Abimelech levantóse para librar á Israel, Tola hijo de Púa, hijo de Dodo, varón de Issachâr, el cual habitaba en Samir, en el monte de Ephraim.
2Y juzgó á Israel veintitrés años, y murió, y fué sepultado en Samir.
3Tras él se levantó Jair, Galaadita, el cual juzgó á Israel veintidós años.
4Este tuvo treinta hijos que cabalgaban sobre treinta asnos, y tenían treinta villas, que se llamaron las villas de Jair hasta hoy, las cuales están en la tierra de Galaad.
5Y murió Jair, y fué sepultado en Camón.
6Mas los hijos de Israel tornaron á hacer lo malo en los ojos de Jehová, y sirvieron á los Baales y á Astaroth, y á los dioses de Siria, y á los dioses de Sidón, y á los dioses de Moab, y á los dioses de los hijos de Ammón, y á los dioses de los Filisteos: y dejaron á Jehová, y no le sirvieron.
7Y Jehová se airó contra Israel, y vendiólos en mano de los Filisteos, y en mano de los hijos de Ammón:
8Los cuales molieron y quebrantaron á los hijos de Israel en aquel tiempo dieciocho años, á todos los hijos de Israel que estaban de la otra parte del Jordán en la tierra del Amorrheo, que es en Galaad.
9Y los hijos de Ammón pasaron el Jordán para hacer también guerra contra Judá, y contra Benjamín, y la casa de Ephraim: y fué Israel en gran manera afligido.
10Y los hijos de Israel clamaron á Jehová, diciendo: Nosotros hemos pecado contra ti; porque hemos dejado á nuestro Dios, y servido á los Baales.
11Y Jehová respondió á los hijos de Israel: ¿No habéis sido oprimidos de Egipto, de los Amorrheos, de los Ammonitas, de los Filisteos,
12De los de Sidón, de Amalec, y de Maón, y clamando á mí os he librado de sus manos?
13Mas vosotros me habéis dejado, y habéis servido á dioses ajenos: por tanto, yo no os libraré más.
14Andad, y clamad á los dioses que os habéis elegido, que os libren en el tiempo de vuestra aflicción.
15Y los hijos de Israel respondieron á Jehová: Hemos pecado; haz tú con nosotros como bien te pareciere: solamente que ahora nos libres en este día.
16Y quitaron de entre sí los dioses ajenos, y sirvieron á Jehová: y su alma fué angustiada á causa del trabajo de Israel.
17Y juntándose los hijos de Ammón, asentaron campo en Galaad: juntáronse asimismo los hijos de Israel, y asentaron su campo en Mizpa.
18Y los príncipes y el pueblo de Galaad dijeron el uno al otro: ¿Quién será el que comenzará la batalla contra los hijos de Ammón? él será cabeza sobre todos los que habitan en Galaad.

1And after Abimelech there arose to defend Israel Tola the son of Puah, the son of Dodo, a man of Issachar; and he dwelt in Shamir in mount Ephraim.
2And he judged Israel twenty and three years, and died, and was buried in Shamir.
3And after him arose Jair, a Gileadite, and judged Israel twenty and two years.
4And he had thirty sons that rode on thirty ass colts, and they had thirty cities, which are called Havoth-jair unto this day, which are in the land of Gilead.
5And Jair died, and was buried in Camon.
6And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim, and Ashtaroth, and the gods of Syria, and the gods of Zidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the children of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines, and forsook the LORD, and served not him.
7And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he sold them into the hands of the Philistines, and into the hands of the children of Ammon.
8And that year they vexed and oppressed the children of Israel: eighteen years, all the children of Israel that were on the other side Jordan in the land of the Amorites, which is in Gilead.
9Moreover the children of Ammon passed over Jordan to fight also against Judah, and against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim; so that Israel was sore distressed.
10And the children of Israel cried unto the LORD, saying, We have sinned against thee, both because we have forsaken our God, and also served Baalim.
11And the LORD said unto the children of Israel, Did not I deliver you from the Egyptians, and from the Amorites, from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines?
12The Zidonians also, and the Amalekites, and the Maonites, did oppress you; and ye cried to me, and I delivered you out of their hand.
13Yet ye have forsaken me, and served other gods: wherefore I will deliver you no more.
14Go and cry unto the gods which ye have chosen; let them deliver you in the time of your tribulation.
15And the children of Israel said unto the LORD, We have sinned: do thou unto us whatsoever seemeth good unto thee; deliver us only, we pray thee, this day.
16And they put away the strange gods from among them, and served the LORD: and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.
17Then the children of Ammon were gathered together, and encamped in Gilead. And the children of Israel assembled themselves together, and encamped in Mizpeh.
18And the people and princes of Gilead said one to another, What man is he that will begin to fight against the children of Ammon? he shall be head over all the inhabitants of Gilead.
World English Bible
1After Abimelech, Tola the son of Puah, the son of Dodo, a man of Issachar, arose to save Israel. He lived in Shamir in the hill country of Ephraim.
2He judged Israel twenty-three years, and died, and was buried in Shamir.
3After him Jair, the Gileadite, arose. He judged Israel twenty-two years.
4He had thirty sons who rode on thirty donkey colts. They had thirty cities, which are called Havvoth Jair to this day, which are in the land of Gilead.
5Jair died, and was buried in Kamon.
6The children of Israel again did that which was evil in the LORD’s sight, and served the Baals, the Ashtaroth, the gods of Syria, the gods of Sidon, the gods of Moab, the gods of the children of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines. They abandoned the LORD, and didn’t serve him.
7The LORD’s anger burned against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of the Philistines and into the hand of the children of Ammon.
8They troubled and oppressed the children of Israel that year. For eighteen years they oppressed all the children of Israel that were beyond the Jordan in the land of the Amorites, which is in Gilead.
9The children of Ammon passed over the Jordan to fight also against Judah, and against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim, so that Israel was very distressed.
10The children of Israel cried to the LORD, saying, “We have sinned against you, even because we have forsaken our God, and have served the Baals.”
11The LORD said to the children of Israel, “Didn’t I save you from the Egyptians, and from the Amorites, from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines?
12The Sidonians also, and the Amalekites, and the Maonites, oppressed you; and you cried to me, and I saved you out of their hand.
13Yet you have forsaken me and served other gods. Therefore I will save you no more.
14Go and cry to the gods which you have chosen. Let them save you in the time of your distress!”
15The children of Israel said to the LORD, “We have sinned! Do to us whatever seems good to you; only deliver us, please, today.”
16They put away the foreign gods from among them and served the LORD; and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.
17Then the children of Ammon were gathered together and encamped in Gilead. The children of Israel assembled themselves together and encamped in Mizpah.
18The people, the princes of Gilead, said to one another, “Who is the man who will begin to fight against the children of Ammon? He shall be head over all the inhabitants of Gilead.”
