1Nach Abimelech machte sich auf, zu helfen Israel, Thola, ein Mann von Isaschar, ein Sohn Phuas, des Sohnes Dodos. Und er wohnte zu Samir auf dem Gebirge Ephraim
2und richtete Israel dreiundzwanzig Jahre und starb und wurde begraben zu Samir.
3Nach ihm machte sich auf Jair, ein Gileaditer, und richtete Israel zweiundzwanzig Jahre.
4Der hatte dreißig Söhne auf dreißig Eselsfüllen reiten; und sie hatten dreißig Städte, die hießen Dörfer Jairs bis auf diesen Tag und liegen in Gilead.
5Und Jair starb und ward begraben zu Kamon.
6Aber die Kinder Israel taten fürder übel vor dem HERRN und dienten den Baalim und den Astharoth und den Göttern von Syrien und den Göttern von Sidon und den Göttern Moabs und den Göttern der Kinder Ammon und den Göttern der Philister und verließen den HERRN und dienten ihm nicht.
7Da ergrimmte der Zorn des HERRN über Israel, und er verkaufte sie unter die Hand der Philister und der Kinder Ammon.
8Und sie zertraten und zerschlugen die Kinder Israel von dem Jahr an wohl achtzehn Jahre, nämlich alle Kinder Israel jenseit des Jordans, im Lande der Amoriter, das in Gilead liegt.
9Dazu zogen die Kinder Ammon über den Jordan und stritten wider Juda, Benjamin und das Haus Ephraim, also daß Israel sehr geängstet ward.
10Da schrieen die Kinder Israel zu dem HERRN und sprachen: Wir haben an dir gesündigt; denn wir haben unsern Gott verlassen und den Baalim gedient.
11Aber der HERR sprach zu den Kindern Israel: Haben euch nicht auch gezwungen die Ägypter, die Amoriter, die Kinder Ammon, die Philister,
12die Sidonier, die Amalekiter und Maoniter, und ich half euch aus ihren Händen, da ihr zu mir schrieet?
13Und doch habt ihr mich verlassen und andern Göttern gedient; darum will ich euch nicht mehr helfen.
14Geht hin und schreit die Götter an, die ihr erwählt habt; laßt euch dieselben helfen zur Zeit eurer Trübsal.
15Aber die Kinder Israel sprachen zu dem HERRN: Wir haben gesündigt, mache es nur du mit uns, wie es dir gefällt; allein errette uns zu dieser Zeit.
16Und sie taten von sich die fremden Götter und dienten dem HERRN. Und es jammerte ihn, daß Israel so geplagt ward.
17Und die Kinder Ammon kamen zuhauf und lagerten sich in Gilead; aber die Kinder Israel versammelten sich und lagerten sich zu Mizpa.
18Und die Obersten des Volks zu Gilead sprachen untereinander: Welcher anfängt zu streiten wider die Kinder Ammon, der soll das Haupt sein über alle, die in Gilead wohnen.

1Y DESPUÉS de Abimelech levantóse para librar á Israel, Tola hijo de Púa, hijo de Dodo, varón de Issachâr, el cual habitaba en Samir, en el monte de Ephraim.
2Y juzgó á Israel veintitrés años, y murió, y fué sepultado en Samir.
3Tras él se levantó Jair, Galaadita, el cual juzgó á Israel veintidós años.
4Este tuvo treinta hijos que cabalgaban sobre treinta asnos, y tenían treinta villas, que se llamaron las villas de Jair hasta hoy, las cuales están en la tierra de Galaad.
5Y murió Jair, y fué sepultado en Camón.
6Mas los hijos de Israel tornaron á hacer lo malo en los ojos de Jehová, y sirvieron á los Baales y á Astaroth, y á los dioses de Siria, y á los dioses de Sidón, y á los dioses de Moab, y á los dioses de los hijos de Ammón, y á los dioses de los Filisteos: y dejaron á Jehová, y no le sirvieron.
7Y Jehová se airó contra Israel, y vendiólos en mano de los Filisteos, y en mano de los hijos de Ammón:
8Los cuales molieron y quebrantaron á los hijos de Israel en aquel tiempo dieciocho años, á todos los hijos de Israel que estaban de la otra parte del Jordán en la tierra del Amorrheo, que es en Galaad.
9Y los hijos de Ammón pasaron el Jordán para hacer también guerra contra Judá, y contra Benjamín, y la casa de Ephraim: y fué Israel en gran manera afligido.
10Y los hijos de Israel clamaron á Jehová, diciendo: Nosotros hemos pecado contra ti; porque hemos dejado á nuestro Dios, y servido á los Baales.
11Y Jehová respondió á los hijos de Israel: ¿No habéis sido oprimidos de Egipto, de los Amorrheos, de los Ammonitas, de los Filisteos,
12De los de Sidón, de Amalec, y de Maón, y clamando á mí os he librado de sus manos?
13Mas vosotros me habéis dejado, y habéis servido á dioses ajenos: por tanto, yo no os libraré más.
14Andad, y clamad á los dioses que os habéis elegido, que os libren en el tiempo de vuestra aflicción.
15Y los hijos de Israel respondieron á Jehová: Hemos pecado; haz tú con nosotros como bien te pareciere: solamente que ahora nos libres en este día.
16Y quitaron de entre sí los dioses ajenos, y sirvieron á Jehová: y su alma fué angustiada á causa del trabajo de Israel.
17Y juntándose los hijos de Ammón, asentaron campo en Galaad: juntáronse asimismo los hijos de Israel, y asentaron su campo en Mizpa.
18Y los príncipes y el pueblo de Galaad dijeron el uno al otro: ¿Quién será el que comenzará la batalla contra los hijos de Ammón? él será cabeza sobre todos los que habitan en Galaad.

1And after Abimelech there arose to defend Israel Tola the son of Puah, the son of Dodo, a man of Issachar; and he dwelt in Shamir in mount Ephraim.
2And he judged Israel twenty and three years, and died, and was buried in Shamir.
3And after him arose Jair, a Gileadite, and judged Israel twenty and two years.
4And he had thirty sons that rode on thirty ass colts, and they had thirty cities, which are called Havoth-jair unto this day, which are in the land of Gilead.
5And Jair died, and was buried in Camon.
6And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim, and Ashtaroth, and the gods of Syria, and the gods of Zidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the children of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines, and forsook the LORD, and served not him.
7And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he sold them into the hands of the Philistines, and into the hands of the children of Ammon.
8And that year they vexed and oppressed the children of Israel: eighteen years, all the children of Israel that were on the other side Jordan in the land of the Amorites, which is in Gilead.
9Moreover the children of Ammon passed over Jordan to fight also against Judah, and against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim; so that Israel was sore distressed.
10And the children of Israel cried unto the LORD, saying, We have sinned against thee, both because we have forsaken our God, and also served Baalim.
11And the LORD said unto the children of Israel, Did not I deliver you from the Egyptians, and from the Amorites, from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines?
12The Zidonians also, and the Amalekites, and the Maonites, did oppress you; and ye cried to me, and I delivered you out of their hand.
13Yet ye have forsaken me, and served other gods: wherefore I will deliver you no more.
14Go and cry unto the gods which ye have chosen; let them deliver you in the time of your tribulation.
15And the children of Israel said unto the LORD, We have sinned: do thou unto us whatsoever seemeth good unto thee; deliver us only, we pray thee, this day.
16And they put away the strange gods from among them, and served the LORD: and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.
17Then the children of Ammon were gathered together, and encamped in Gilead. And the children of Israel assembled themselves together, and encamped in Mizpeh.
18And the people and princes of Gilead said one to another, What man is he that will begin to fight against the children of Ammon? he shall be head over all the inhabitants of Gilead.
World English Bible
1After Abimelech, Tola the son of Puah, the son of Dodo, a man of Issachar, arose to save Israel. He lived in Shamir in the hill country of Ephraim.
2He judged Israel twenty-three years, and died, and was buried in Shamir.
3After him Jair, the Gileadite, arose. He judged Israel twenty-two years.
4He had thirty sons who rode on thirty donkey colts. They had thirty cities, which are called Havvoth Jair to this day, which are in the land of Gilead.
5Jair died, and was buried in Kamon.
6The children of Israel again did that which was evil in the LORD’s sight, and served the Baals, the Ashtaroth, the gods of Syria, the gods of Sidon, the gods of Moab, the gods of the children of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines. They abandoned the LORD, and didn’t serve him.
7The LORD’s anger burned against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of the Philistines and into the hand of the children of Ammon.
8They troubled and oppressed the children of Israel that year. For eighteen years they oppressed all the children of Israel that were beyond the Jordan in the land of the Amorites, which is in Gilead.
9The children of Ammon passed over the Jordan to fight also against Judah, and against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim, so that Israel was very distressed.
10The children of Israel cried to the LORD, saying, “We have sinned against you, even because we have forsaken our God, and have served the Baals.”
11The LORD said to the children of Israel, “Didn’t I save you from the Egyptians, and from the Amorites, from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines?
12The Sidonians also, and the Amalekites, and the Maonites, oppressed you; and you cried to me, and I saved you out of their hand.
13Yet you have forsaken me and served other gods. Therefore I will save you no more.
14Go and cry to the gods which you have chosen. Let them save you in the time of your distress!”
15The children of Israel said to the LORD, “We have sinned! Do to us whatever seems good to you; only deliver us, please, today.”
16They put away the foreign gods from among them and served the LORD; and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.
17Then the children of Ammon were gathered together and encamped in Gilead. The children of Israel assembled themselves together and encamped in Mizpah.
18The people, the princes of Gilead, said to one another, “Who is the man who will begin to fight against the children of Ammon? He shall be head over all the inhabitants of Gilead.”
