Santiago, un siervo de Dios y del Señor Jesucristo, a las doce tribus que están en la dispersión, saludos.

Considérenlo todo por gozo, mis hermanos cuando experimenten varios problemas,

Hermanos míos, tened por sumo gozo cuando cayereis en diversas tentaciones;

My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations,

sabiendo que la prueba de su fe, produce resistencia.

Sabiendo que la prueba de vuestra fe obra paciencia.

Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.

Dejen que la resistencia complete su obra, para que sean completamente maduros, y no les falte en nada.

Mas tenga la paciencia perfecta su obra, para que seáis perfectos y cabales, sin faltar en alguna cosa.

But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

Pero si alguno de ustedes necesita sabiduría, pídala al Único que se las da, Dios, generosamente y sin reproche a todo al que la pida, y Dios se los concederá.

Y si alguno de vosotros tiene falta de sabiduría, demándela á Dios, el cual da á todos abundantemente, y no zahiere; y le será dada.

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

Pero pidan en fe, sin dudar, porque el que duda es como una ola en el mar, conducida por el viento y lanzada.

Pero pida en fe, no dudando nada: porque el que duda es semejante á la onda de la mar, que es movida del viento, y echada de una parte á otra.

But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

But let him ask in faith, without any doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven by the wind and tossed.

Pero esa persona no debe pensar que él recibirá su solicitud del Señor;

No piense pues el tal hombre que recibirá ninguna cosa del Señor.

For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

For that man shouldn’t think that he will receive anything from the Lord.

el tal; es una persona de doble ánimo, inestable en todos sus caminos.

El hombre de doblado ánimo es inconstante en todos sus caminos.

A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

He is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

El hermano pobre debe gloriarse en su alta posición,

El hermano que es de baja suerte, gloríese en su alteza:

Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted:

Let the brother in humble circumstances glory in his high position;

mientras el hermano rico en su humildad, porque él morirá como una flor salvaje muere en el campo.

Mas el que es rico, en su bajeza; porque él se pasará como la flor de la hierba.

But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.

and the rich, in that he is made humble, because like the flower in the grass, he will pass away.

El sol se levanta con calor abrasador y seca la planta, y la flor cae y su belleza muere. De la misma manera que las personas ricas se desvanecerán en medio de sus actividades.

Porque salido el sol con ardor, la hierba se secó, y su flor se cayó, y pereció su hermosa apariencia: así también se marchitará el rico en todos sus caminos.

For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.

For the sun arises with the scorching wind and withers the grass; and the flower in it falls, and the beauty of its appearance perishes. So the rich man will also fade away in his pursuits.

Bendecido es el hombre quien resiste la prueba, porque después que él haya pasado la prueba, él recibirá la corona de vida, que ha sido prometida a aquellos quienes aman a Dios.

Bienaventurado el varón que sufre la tentación; porque cuando fuere probado, recibirá la corona de vida, que Dios ha prometido á los que le aman.

Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

Blessed is a person who endures temptation, for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord promised to those who love him.

Nadie debe decir cuando es tentado: "Esta tentación es de Dios," porque Dios no es tentado por el mal, y Dios en sí mismo no tienta a nadie.

Cuando alguno es tentado, no diga que es tentado de Dios: porque Dios no puede ser tentado de los malos, ni él tienta á alguno:

Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

Let no man say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God,” for God can’t be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one.

Cada persona es tentada por sus propios malos deseos los cuales lo atraen y lo arrastran fuera.

Sino que cada uno es tentado, cuando de su propia concupiscencia es atraído, y cebado.

But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own lust and enticed.

Entonces después, los deseos pecaminosos conciben, el pecado nace, y después que el pecado ha crecido completamente, resulta en muerte.

Y la concupiscencia, después que ha concebido, pare el pecado: y el pecado, siendo cumplido, engendra muerte.

Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

Then the lust, when it has conceived, bears sin. The sin, when it is full grown, produces death.

No se engañen, amados hermanos míos.

Amados hermanos míos, no erréis.

Do not err, my beloved brethren.

Don’t be deceived, my beloved brothers.

Todo buen regalo y todo regalo perfecto viene de arriba, descendiendo del Padre de las luces. Él nunca cambia como sombras cambiantes.

Toda buena dádiva y todo don perfecto es de lo alto, que desciende del Padre de las luces, en el cual no hay mudanza, ni sombra de variación.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation nor turning shadow.

Dios escogió darnos a nosotros la vida por la palabra de verdad, para que así nosotros pudiéramos ser como los primeros frutos entre Sus criaturas.

El, de su voluntad nos ha engendrado por la palabra de verdad, para que seamos primicias de sus criaturas.

Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

Of his own will he gave birth to us by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures.

Ustedes conocen esto, mis amados hermanos. Todo hombre debe ser pronto para oír, lento para hablar, y lento para la ira,

Por esto, mis amados hermanos, todo hombre sea pronto para oir, tardío para hablar, tardío para airarse:

Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger;

pues la ira del hombre no trabaja en la justicia de Dios.

Porque la ira del hombre no obra la justicia de Dios.

For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

for the anger of man doesn’t produce the righteousness of God.

Por lo tanto, desechen toda suciedad pecaminosa y el mal que está en todas partes, y en humildad reciban la palabra implantada, que es capaz de salvar sus almas.

Por lo cual, dejando toda inmundicia y superfluidad de malicia, recibid con mansedumbre la palabra ingerida, la cual puede hacer salvas vuestras almas.

Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

Therefore, putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness, receive with humility the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.

Obedezcan la palabra, no sólo la escuchen, no se engañen a ustedes mismos.

Mas sed hacedores de la palabra, y no tan solamente oidores, engañándoos á vosotros mismos.

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

But be doers of the word, and not only hearers, deluding your own selves.

Pues si cualquiera escucha la palabra y no la hace, es como un hombre que examina su rostro natural en un espejo.

Porque si alguno oye la palabra, y no la pone por obra, este tal es semejante al hombre que considera en un espejo su rostro natural.

For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:

For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man looking at his natural face in a mirror;

Él examina su rostro, y se va y pronto se olvida de como lucía.

Porque él se consideró á sí mismo, y se fué, y luego se olvidó qué tal era.

For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.

for he sees himself, and goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.

Pero la persona que observa cuidadosamente en la ley perfecta, la ley de libertad, y continúa obedeciéndola; no es sólo un oidor que la olvida, este hombre será bendecido en lo que hace.

Mas el que hubiere mirado atentamente en la perfecta ley, que es la de la libertad, y perseverado en ella, no siendo oidor olvidadizo, sino hacedor de la obra, este tal será bienaventurado en su hecho.

But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

But he who looks into the perfect law of freedom and continues, not being a hearer who forgets but a doer of the work, this man will be blessed in what he does.

Si alguno piensa en sí mismo que es religioso, pero no controla su lengua, él engaña su corazón y su religión es vana.

Si alguno piensa ser religioso entre vosotros, y no refrena su lengua, sino engañando su corazón, la religión del tal es vana.

If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.

If anyone among you thinks himself to be religious while he doesn’t bridle his tongue, but deceives his heart, this man’s religion is worthless.

La religión pura e incorruptible delante de nuestro Dios y Padre es ésta: ayudar al huérfano y a las viudas en sus aflicciones, y protegerse a sí mismo de la corrupción del mundo.

La religión pura y sin mácula delante de Dios y Padre es esta: Visitar los huérfanos y las viudas en sus tribulaciones, y guardarse sin mancha de este mundo.

Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

Pure religion and undefiled before our God and Father is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.
