Abbiate, fratelli miei come argomento di vero gaudio le varie tentazioni, nelle quali urterete:
Hermanos míos, tened por sumo gozo cuando cayereis en diversas tentaciones;
My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations,
Sapendo, come lo sperimento della vostra fede produce la pazienza.
Sabiendo que la prueba de vuestra fe obra paciencia.
Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.
La pazienza poi fa opera perfetta: onde voi siate perfetti, e intieri, e in nulla cosa manchevoli.
Mas tenga la paciencia perfecta su obra, para que seáis perfectos y cabales, sin faltar en alguna cosa.
But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
Che se alcuno di voi è bisognoso di sapienza, la chieda a Dio, che da a tutti abbondantemente, e noi rimprovera: e saragli conceduta.
Y si alguno de vosotros tiene falta de sabiduría, demándela á Dios, el cual da á todos abundantemente, y no zahiere; y le será dada.
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
Ma chieda con fede senza niente esitare: imperocché chi esita, egli è simile al flutto del mare mosso, e agitato dal vento:
Pero pida en fe, no dudando nada: porque el que duda es semejante á la onda de la mar, que es movida del viento, y echada de una parte á otra.
But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
But let him ask in faith, without any doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven by the wind and tossed.
Non si pensi adunque un tal uomo di ottener cosa alcuna dal Signore.
No piense pues el tal hombre que recibirá ninguna cosa del Señor.
For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

L'uomo di animo doppio egli è incostante in tutti i suoi andamenti.

Or il fratello, che è in basso stato, faccia gloria del suo innalzamento:
El hermano que es de baja suerte, gloríese en su alteza:
Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted:
Let the brother in humble circumstances glory in his high position;
Il ricco poi della sua umiliazione, perché come fior d'erba ci passerà:
Mas el que es rico, en su bajeza; porque él se pasará como la flor de la hierba.
But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.
and the rich, in that he is made humble, because like the flower in the grass, he will pass away.
Imperocché si levò il sole cocente, e l'erba si seccò, e il fior ne cadde, e la venustà dell'aspetto di lui perì: così anche il ricco ne' suoi avanzamenti appassirà.
Porque salido el sol con ardor, la hierba se secó, y su flor se cayó, y pereció su hermosa apariencia: así también se marchitará el rico en todos sus caminos.
For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.
For the sun arises with the scorching wind and withers the grass; and the flower in it falls, and the beauty of its appearance perishes. So the rich man will also fade away in his pursuits.
Beato l'uomo, che tollera tentazione: perché quando sarà stato provato, riceverà la corona di vita promessa da Dio a quegli, che lo amano.
Bienaventurado el varón que sufre la tentación; porque cuando fuere probado, recibirá la corona de vida, que Dios ha prometido á los que le aman.
Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
Blessed is a person who endures temptation, for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord promised to those who love him.
Nissuno quand'è tentato, dica, che è tentato da Dio: imperocché Dio non è tentatore di cose male: ed ei non tenta nissuno.
Cuando alguno es tentado, no diga que es tentado de Dios: porque Dios no puede ser tentado de los malos, ni él tienta á alguno:
Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
Let no man say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God,” for God can’t be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one.
Ma ciascuno è tentato dalla propria concupiscenza, che lo tragge, e lo alletta.
Sino que cada uno es tentado, cuando de su propia concupiscencia es atraído, y cebado.
But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

Indi la concupiscenza quando ha conceputo, partorisce il peccato: il peccato poi consumato che sia, genera la morte.
Y la concupiscencia, después que ha concebido, pare el pecado: y el pecado, siendo cumplido, engendra muerte.
Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
Then the lust, when it has conceived, bears sin. The sin, when it is full grown, produces death.
Non vogliate adunque ingannarvi, fratelli miei dilettissimi.
Amados hermanos míos, no erréis.
Do not err, my beloved brethren.
Don’t be deceived, my beloved brothers.
Ogni buon dato, e ogni perfetto dono viene di sopra, scendendo da quel Padre de' lumi, in cui non è mutamento, né alternativa di adombramento.
Toda buena dádiva y todo don perfecto es de lo alto, que desciende del Padre de las luces, en el cual no hay mudanza, ni sombra de variación.
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

Imperocché l'ira dell'uomo non adempie la giustizia di Dio.
Porque la ira del hombre no obra la justicia de Dios.
For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
for the anger of man doesn’t produce the righteousness of God.
Per la qual cosa rigettando ogni immondezza, e la ridondante malizia, con mansueto animo abbracciate la parola (in voi) innestata, la quale può salvare le anime vostre.
Por lo cual, dejando toda inmundicia y superfluidad de malicia, recibid con mansedumbre la palabra ingerida, la cual puede hacer salvas vuestras almas.
Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
Therefore, putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness, receive with humility the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
Siate perciò facitori della parola, e non uditori solamente, ingannando voi stessi.
Mas sed hacedores de la palabra, y no tan solamente oidores, engañándoos á vosotros mismos.
But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
But be doers of the word, and not only hearers, deluding your own selves.
Imperocché se uno è uditore, e non facitore della parola, ei si rassomiglierà a un uomo, che considera il nativo suo volto ad uno specchio:
Porque si alguno oye la palabra, y no la pone por obra, este tal es semejante al hombre que considera en un espejo su rostro natural.
For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man looking at his natural face in a mirror;
Il quale considerato che si è, se ne va, e si scorda subita, qual ei si fosse.
Porque él se consideró á sí mismo, y se fué, y luego se olvidó qué tal era.
For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
for he sees himself, and goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.
Ma chi mirerà addentro nella perfetta legge della libertà, e in essa persevererà, non essendo uditore smemorato, ma facitore di opere: questi nel suo fare sarà beato.
Mas el que hubiere mirado atentamente en la perfecta ley, que es la de la libertad, y perseverado en ella, no siendo oidor olvidadizo, sino hacedor de la obra, este tal será bienaventurado en su hecho.
But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
But he who looks into the perfect law of freedom and continues, not being a hearer who forgets but a doer of the work, this man will be blessed in what he does.
Che se uno si crede di essere religioso, senza raffrenare la propria lingua, anzi seducendo il proprio cuore, la religione di costui è vana.
Si alguno piensa ser religioso entre vosotros, y no refrena su lengua, sino engañando su corazón, la religión del tal es vana.
If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.
If anyone among you thinks himself to be religious while he doesn’t bridle his tongue, but deceives his heart, this man’s religion is worthless.
Religione para, e immacolata nel cospetto di Dio, e del Padre, è questa: di visitare i pupilli, e le vedove nella loro tribolazione, e di conservarsi puro da questo secolo. Gli ammonisce a non essere uccellatori di persone: chi trasgredisce un sol precetto della legge, è trasgressor della legge. Gli esorta all'esercizio delle opere di misericordia, dimostrando, che L'uomo è giustificato mediante le opere, perchè la fede senza le opere è morta.
La religión pura y sin mácula delante de Dios y Padre es esta: Visitar los huérfanos y las viudas en sus tribulaciones, y guardarse sin mancha de este mundo.
Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
