1und der da reich ist, rühme sich seiner Niedrigkeit; denn wie eine Blume des Grases wird er vergehen.
2Die Sonne gehet auf mit der Hitze, und das Gras verwelket, und die Blume fällt ab und seine schöne Gestalt verdirbet; also wird der Reiche in seiner Habe verwelken.
3Selig ist der Mann, der die Anfechtung erduldet; denn nachdem er bewähret ist, wird er die Krone des Lebens empfangen, welche Gott verheißen hat denen, die ihn liebhaben.
4Niemand sage, wenn er versuchet wird, daß er von Gott versucht werde; denn Gott ist nicht ein Versucher zum Bösen; er versuchet niemand;
5sondern ein jeglicher wird versucht, wenn er von seiner eigenen Lust gereizet und gelocket wird.
6Danach, wenn die Lust empfangen hat, gebieret sie die Sünde; die Sünde aber, wenn sie vollendet ist, gebieret sie den Tod.
7Irret nicht, liebe Brüder!
8Alle gute Gabe und alle vollkommene Gabe kommt von oben herab, von dem Vater des Lichts, bei welchem ist keine Veränderung noch Wechsel des Lichts und Finsternis.
9Er hat uns gezeuget nach seinem Willen durch das Wort der Wahrheit, auf daß wir wären Erstlinge seiner Kreaturen.
10Darum, liebe Brüder, ein jeglicher Mensch sei schnell zu hören, langsam aber zu reden und langsam zum Zorn;
11denn des Menschen Zorn tut nicht, was vor Gott recht ist.
12Darum so leget ab alle Unsauberkeit und alle Bosheit und nehmet das Wort an mit Sanftmut, das in euch gepflanzet ist, welches kann eure Seelen selig machen.
13Seid aber Täter des Worts und nicht Hörer allein, damit ihr euch selbst betrüget.
14Denn so jemand ist ein Hörer des Worts und nicht ein Täter, der ist gleich einem Mann, der sein leiblich Angesicht im Spiegel beschauet;
15denn nachdem er sich beschauet hat, gehet er von Stund' an davon und vergisset, wie er gestaltet war.
16Wer aber durchschauet in das voll kommene Gesetz der Freiheit und darinnen beharret und ist nicht ein vergeßlicher Hörer, sondern ein Täter, derselbige wird selig sein in seiner Tat.
17So aber sich jemand unter euch lässet dünken, er diene Gott, und hält seine Zunge nicht im Zaum, sondern verführet sein Herz, des Gottesdienst ist eitel.
18Ein reiner und unbefleckter Gottesdienst vor Gott dem Vater ist der: die Waisen und Witwen in ihrer Trübsal besuchen und sich von der Welt unbefleckt behalten.
19Liebe Brüder, haltet nicht dafür, daß der Glaube an Jesum Christum, unsern HERRN der HERRLIchkeit, Ansehen der Person leide.
20Denn so in eure Versammlung käme ein Mann mit einem güldenen Ringe und mit einem herrlichen Kleide, es käme aber auch ein Armer mit einem unsauberen Kleide,
21und ihr sähet auf den, der das herrliche Kleid träget, und sprächet zu ihm: Setze du dich her aufs beste, und sprächet zu dem Armen: Stehe du dort oder setze dich her zu meinen Füßen,
22und bedenket es nicht recht, sondern ihr werdet Richter und machet bösen Unterschied.
23Höret zu, meine lieben Brüder! Hat nicht Gott die Armen auf dieser Welt, die am Glauben reich sind und Erben des Reichs, welches er verheißen hat denen, die ihn liebhaben?
24Ihr aber habt dem Armen Unehre getan. Sind nicht die Reichen die, die Gewalt an euch üben und ziehen euch vor Gericht?
25Verlästern sie nicht den guten Namen, davon ihr genannt seid?
26So ihr das königliche Gesetz vollendet nach der Schrift: Liebe deinen Nächsten wie dich selbst, so tut ihr wohl.
27So ihr aber die Person ansehet, tut ihr Sünde und werdet gestraft vom Gesetz als die Übertreter.

2Hermanos míos, tened por sumo gozo cuando cayereis en diversas tentaciones;
3Sabiendo que la prueba de vuestra fe obra paciencia.
4Mas tenga la paciencia perfecta su obra, para que seáis perfectos y cabales, sin faltar en alguna cosa.
5Y si alguno de vosotros tiene falta de sabiduría, demándela á Dios, el cual da á todos abundantemente, y no zahiere; y le será dada.
6Pero pida en fe, no dudando nada: porque el que duda es semejante á la onda de la mar, que es movida del viento, y echada de una parte á otra.
7No piense pues el tal hombre que recibirá ninguna cosa del Señor.
8El hombre de doblado ánimo es inconstante en todos sus caminos.
9El hermano que es de baja suerte, gloríese en su alteza:
10Mas el que es rico, en su bajeza; porque él se pasará como la flor de la hierba.
11Porque salido el sol con ardor, la hierba se secó, y su flor se cayó, y pereció su hermosa apariencia: así también se marchitará el rico en todos sus caminos.
12Bienaventurado el varón que sufre la tentación; porque cuando fuere probado, recibirá la corona de vida, que Dios ha prometido á los que le aman.
13Cuando alguno es tentado, no diga que es tentado de Dios: porque Dios no puede ser tentado de los malos, ni él tienta á alguno:
14Sino que cada uno es tentado, cuando de su propia concupiscencia es atraído, y cebado.
15Y la concupiscencia, después que ha concebido, pare el pecado: y el pecado, siendo cumplido, engendra muerte.
16Amados hermanos míos, no erréis.
17Toda buena dádiva y todo don perfecto es de lo alto, que desciende del Padre de las luces, en el cual no hay mudanza, ni sombra de variación.
18El, de su voluntad nos ha engendrado por la palabra de verdad, para que seamos primicias de sus criaturas.
19Por esto, mis amados hermanos, todo hombre sea pronto para oir, tardío para hablar, tardío para airarse:
20Porque la ira del hombre no obra la justicia de Dios.
21Por lo cual, dejando toda inmundicia y superfluidad de malicia, recibid con mansedumbre la palabra ingerida, la cual puede hacer salvas vuestras almas.
22Mas sed hacedores de la palabra, y no tan solamente oidores, engañándoos á vosotros mismos.
23Porque si alguno oye la palabra, y no la pone por obra, este tal es semejante al hombre que considera en un espejo su rostro natural.
24Porque él se consideró á sí mismo, y se fué, y luego se olvidó qué tal era.
25Mas el que hubiere mirado atentamente en la perfecta ley, que es la de la libertad, y perseverado en ella, no siendo oidor olvidadizo, sino hacedor de la obra, este tal será bienaventurado en su hecho.
26Si alguno piensa ser religioso entre vosotros, y no refrena su lengua, sino engañando su corazón, la religión del tal es vana.
27La religión pura y sin mácula delante de Dios y Padre es esta: Visitar los huérfanos y las viudas en sus tribulaciones, y guardarse sin mancha de este mundo.

1James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.
2My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
3Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
4But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
5If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
6But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
7For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
8A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
9Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted:
10But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.
11For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.
12Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
13Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
14But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
15Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
16Do not err, my beloved brethren.
17Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
18Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
19Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
20For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
21Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
22But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
23For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
24For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
25But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
26If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.
27Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

2Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations,
3knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.
4Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
5But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
6But let him ask in faith, without any doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven by the wind and tossed.
7For that man shouldn’t think that he will receive anything from the Lord.
8He is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
9Let the brother in humble circumstances glory in his high position;
10and the rich, in that he is made humble, because like the flower in the grass, he will pass away.
11For the sun arises with the scorching wind and withers the grass; and the flower in it falls, and the beauty of its appearance perishes. So the rich man will also fade away in his pursuits.
12Blessed is a person who endures temptation, for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord promised to those who love him.
13Let no man say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God,” for God can’t be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one.
14But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own lust and enticed.
15Then the lust, when it has conceived, bears sin. The sin, when it is full grown, produces death.
16Don’t be deceived, my beloved brothers.
17Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation nor turning shadow.
18Of his own will he gave birth to us by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures.
19So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger;
20for the anger of man doesn’t produce the righteousness of God.
21Therefore, putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness, receive with humility the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
22But be doers of the word, and not only hearers, deluding your own selves.
23For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man looking at his natural face in a mirror;
24for he sees himself, and goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.
25But he who looks into the perfect law of freedom and continues, not being a hearer who forgets but a doer of the work, this man will be blessed in what he does.
26If anyone among you thinks himself to be religious while he doesn’t bridle his tongue, but deceives his heart, this man’s religion is worthless.
27Pure religion and undefiled before our God and Father is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.
