1Peuples qui marchez dans les ténèbres, voyez une grande lumière ; et vous qui habitez dans la région ténébreuse de la mort, une lumière luira sur vous ;
2Sur vous qui êtes la plus grande part d'un peuple que vous avez amené, Seigneur, à vos joies ; et ils se réjouiront de votre vue, comme ceux qui se réjouissent d'une moisson, ou qui se partagent des dépouilles ;
3Parce que vous avez ôté le joug qui pesait sur eux, et la verge qui courbait leur cou. Car le Seigneur a brisé la verge de ceux qui les pressuraient, comme au jour où il s'est déclaré contre Madian.
4Ils rendront le prix des robes qu'ils ont accumulées par fraude, et des manteaux qu'ils ont eus par les vicissitudes de la guerre ; et ils consentiront à les voir brûlés par le feu.
5Car un petit enfant nous est né, et un fils nous a été donné ; la principauté repose sur son épaule, et il est appelé de ce nom, l'Ange du grand conseil. Par lui j'amènerai la paix sur les princes, par lui la santé et la paix.
6Sa principauté est grande, et à la paix qu'il donne il n'est point de limites ; il s'assoira sur le trône de David, et il possédera son royaume, pour le conduire, et l'affermir dans l'équité et la justice, maintenant et dans tous les siècles ; l'amour du Seigneur des armées fera ce prodige.
7Le Seigneur a envoyé la mort contre Jacob, et elle est venue contre Israël.
8Et tout le peuple d'Ephraïm et ceux qui résident en Samarie le connaîtront, eux qui disent dans l'orgueil et l'arrogance de leur cœur :
9Les briques sont tombées, mais venez ; taillons des pierres, abattons des sycomores et des cèdres, et bâtissons-nous une tour.
10Et le Seigneur brisera ceux qui s'élèvent contre lui sur la montagne de Sion, et il dispersera les ennemis,
11La Syrie à l'Orient, les Hellènes à l'Occident, qui dévorent Israël à pleine bouche. Contre eux tous s'est tournée sa fureur, et sa main est encore levée.
12Et le peuple ne s'est point converti, et il n'a point cherché le Seigneur, avant d'avoir été frappé.
13Et en un seul jour le Seigneur a retranché d'Israël la tête et la queue, le grand et le petit,
14Le vieillard et tous ceux qui n'admirent que les apparences, c'est la tête ; et le faux prophète qui enseigne l'iniquité, c'est la queue.
15Et ceux qui déclarent heureux ce peuple sont dans l'égarement, et ils l'égarent en de le dévorer.
16C'est pourquoi le Seigneur ne mettra pas sa joie en leurs jeunes gens, et il n'aura pitié ni de leurs orphelins ni de leurs veuves, parce qu'ils sont tous déréglés et pervers, et que leurs bouches profèrent toutes l'iniquité. Contre eux tous s'est tournée sa fureur, et sa main est encore levée.
17Et leur iniquité brûlera comme un feu ; elle sera consumée par la flamme comme une herbe sèche ; elle s'allumera comme une épaisse forêt de chênes, et tout ce qui environne la colline sera dévoré.
18A cause de la colère du Seigneur la terre entière sera livrée au feu, et le peuple sera la proie des flammes, et le frère n'aura point pitié de son frère.
19Il ira à droite, parce qu'il aura faim ; il mangera à gauche, et ne sera point rassasié de la chair de son bras.
20Car Manassé mangera Ephraïm, et Éphraïm, Manassé, parce qu'ensemble ils auront assiégé Juda. Contre eux tous s'est tournée sa fureur, et sa main est encore levée.

1AUNQUE no será esta oscuridad tal como la aflicción que le vino en el tiempo que livianamente tocaron la primera vez á la tierra de Zabulón, y á la tierra de Nephtalí; y después cuando agravaron por la vía de la mar, de esa parte del Jordán, en Galilea de las gentes.
2El pueblo que andaba en tinieblas vió gran luz: los que moraban en tierra de sombra de muerte, luz resplandeció sobre ellos.
3Aumentando la gente, no aumentaste la alegría. Alegraránse delante de ti como se alegran en la siega, como se gozan cuando reparten despojos.
4Porque tú quebraste su pesado yugo, y la vara de su hombro, y el cetro de su exactor, como en el día de Madián.
5Porque toda batalla de quien pelea es con estruendo, y con revolcamiento de vestidura en sangre: mas esto será para quema, y pábulo del fuego.
6Porque un niño nos es nacido, hijo nos es dado; y el principado sobre su hombro: y llamaráse su nombre Admirable, Consejero, Dios fuerte, Padre eterno, Príncipe de paz.
7Lo dilatado de su imperio y la paz no tendrán término, sobre el trono de David, y sobre su reino, disponiéndolo y confirmándolo en juicio y en justicia desde ahora para siempre. El celo de Jehová de los ejércitos hará esto.
8El Señor envió palabra á Jacob, y cayó en Israel.
9Y la sabrá el pueblo, todo él, Ephraim y los moradores de Samaria, que con soberbia y con altivez de corazón dicen:
10Los ladrillos cayeron, mas edificaremos de cantería; cortaron los cabrahigos, mas cedros pondremos en su lugar.
11Empero Jehová ensalzará los enemigos de Rezín contra él, y juntará sus enemigos;
12De oriente los Siros, y los Filisteos de poniente; y con toda la boca se tragarán á Israel. Ni con todo eso ha cesado su furor, antes todavía su mano extendida.
13Mas el pueblo no se convirtió al que lo hería, ni buscaron á Jehová de los ejércitos.
14Y Jehová cortará de Israel cabeza y cola, ramo y caña en un mismo día.
15El viejo y venerable de rostro es la cabeza: el profeta que enseña mentira, este es cola.
16Porque los gobernadores de este pueblo son engañadores; y sus gobernados, perdidos.
17Por tanto, el Señor no tomará contentamiento en sus mancebos, ni de sus huérfanos y viudas tendrá misericordia: porque todos son falsos y malignos, y toda boca habla despropósitos. Con todo esto no ha cesado su furor, antes todavía su mano extendida.
18Porque la maldad se encendió como fuego, cardos y espinas devorará; y encenderáse en lo espeso de la breña, y serán alzados como humo.
19Por la ira de Jehová de los ejércitos se oscureció la tierra, y será el pueblo como pábulo del fuego: el hombre no tendrá piedad de su hermano.
20Cada uno hurtará á la mano derecha, y tendrá hambre; y comerá á la izquierda, y no se hartará: cada cual comerá la carne de su brazo:
21Manasés á Ephraim, y Ephraim á Manasés, y entrambos contra Judá. Ni con todo esto ha cesado su furor, antes todavía extendida su mano.

1Nevertheless the dimness shall not be such as was in her vexation, when at the first he lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, and afterward did more grievously afflict her by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, in Galilee of the nations.
2The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.
3Thou hast multiplied the nation, and not increased the joy: they joy before thee according to the joy in harvest, and as men rejoice when they divide the spoil.
4For thou hast broken the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, as in the day of Midian.
5For every battle of the warrior is with confused noise, and garments rolled in blood; but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire.
6For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
7Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
8The Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it hath lighted upon Israel.
9And all the people shall know, even Ephraim and the inhabitant of Samaria, that say in the pride and stoutness of heart,
10The bricks are fallen down, but we will build with hewn stones: the sycomores are cut down, but we will change them into cedars.
11Therefore the LORD shall set up the adversaries of Rezin against him, and join his enemies together;
12The Syrians before, and the Philistines behind; and they shall devour Israel with open mouth. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
13For the people turneth not unto him that smiteth them, neither do they seek the LORD of hosts.
14Therefore the LORD will cut off from Israel head and tail, branch and rush, in one day.
15The ancient and honourable, he is the head; and the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the tail.
16For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed.
17Therefore the Lord shall have no joy in their young men, neither shall have mercy on their fatherless and widows: for every one is an hypocrite and an evildoer, and every mouth speaketh folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
18For wickedness burneth as the fire: it shall devour the briers and thorns, and shall kindle in the thickets of the forest, and they shall mount up like the lifting up of smoke.
19Through the wrath of the LORD of hosts is the land darkened, and the people shall be as the fuel of the fire: no man shall spare his brother.
20And he shall snatch on the right hand, and be hungry; and he shall eat on the left hand, and they shall not be satisfied: they shall eat every man the flesh of his own arm:
21Manasseh, Ephraim; and Ephraim, Manasseh: and they together shall be against Judah. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

1But there shall be no more gloom for her who was in anguish. In the former time, he brought into contempt the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali; but in the latter time he has made it glorious, by the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the nations.
2The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light. The light has shined on those who lived in the land of the shadow of death.
3You have multiplied the nation. You have increased their joy. They rejoice before you according to the joy in harvest, as men rejoice when they divide the plunder.
4For the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, you have broken as in the day of Midian.
5For all the armor of the armed man in the noisy battle, and the garments rolled in blood, will be for burning, fuel for the fire.
6For a child is born to us. A son is given to us; and the government will be on his shoulders. His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7Of the increase of his government and of peace there shall be no end, on David’s throne, and on his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from that time on, even forever. The zeal of the LORD of Armies will perform this.

9All the people will know, including Ephraim and the inhabitants of Samaria, who say in pride and in arrogance of heart,

16For those who lead this people lead them astray; and those who are led by them are destroyed.
17Therefore the Lord will not rejoice over their young men, neither will he have compassion on their fatherless and widows; for everyone is profane and an evildoer, and every mouth speaks folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
18For wickedness burns like a fire. It devours the briers and thorns; yes, it kindles in the thickets of the forest, and they roll upward in a column of smoke.
19Through the LORD of Armies’ wrath, the land is burned up; and the people are the fuel for the fire. No one spares his brother.
20One will devour on the right hand, and be hungry; and he will eat on the left hand, and they will not be satisfied. Everyone will eat the flesh of his own arm:
21Manasseh eating Ephraim and Ephraim eating Manasseh, and they together will be against Judah. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
