2Je suis venu : pourquoi n'y avait-il personne ? J'ai appelé : pourquoi personne n'a-t-il répondu ? Ma main est-elle donc trop courte pour délivrer, ou bien n'ai-je pas assez de force pour sauver ? Voici que, par ma menace, je dessèche la mer, je change les fleuves en désert ; leurs poissons pourrissent faute d'eau, et ils périssent de soif.

2Porque vine, y nadie pareció; llamé, y nadie respondió. ¿Ha llegado á acortarse mi mano, para no redimir? ¿no hay en mí poder para librar? He aquí que con mi reprensión hago secar la mar; torno los ríos en desierto, hasta pudrirse sus peces, y morirse de sed por falta de agua.

2Wherefore, when I came, was there no man? when I called, was there none to answer? Is my hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? or have I no power to deliver? behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: their fish stinketh, because there is no water, and dieth for thirst.
