Isaías 41

Be silent †and hearken unto me, O ye Coastlands, And let the Races of Men renew their strength,—Let them approach, then, let them speak, Together, for controversy, let us draw near:—

ESCUCHADME, islas, y esfuércense los pueblos; alléguense, y entonces hablen: estemos juntamente á juicio.

Keep silence before me, O islands; and let the people renew their strength: let them come near; then let them speak: let us come near together to judgment.

Who roused up one from the East, In righteousness, called him to his feet,—Set before him nations And over kings, caused him to rule, His sword, made †them like dust, His bow like driven chaff:

¿Quién despertó del oriente al justo, lo llamó para que le siguiese, entregó delante de él naciones, é hízolo enseñorear de reyes; entrególos á su espada como polvo, y á su arco como hojarascas arrebatadas?

Who raised up the righteous man from the east, called him to his foot, gave the nations before him, and made him rule over kings? he gave them as the dust to his sword, and as driven stubble to his bow.

Who has raised up one from the east? Who called him to his feet in righteousness? He hands over nations to him and makes him rule over kings. He gives them like the dust to his sword, like the driven stubble to his bow.

He pursued them passed along safely,—Upon the path of his own feet, entered he not?

Who hath wrought and performed, Calling the generations, in advance? I, Yahweh, †who am First, And with them who are last, I, am the Same!

¿Quién obró é hizo esto? ¿Quién llama las generaciones desde el principio? Yo Jehová, el primero, y yo mismo con los postreros.

Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I the LORD, the first, and with the last; I am he.

Who has worked and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I, the LORD, the first, and with the last, I am he.”

Coastlands have seen, so they fear, The ends of the earth, are in dread,—They have drawn near, and have come:

Las islas vieron, y tuvieron temor; los términos de la tierra se espantaron: congregáronse, y vinieron.

The isles saw it, and feared; the ends of the earth were afraid, drew near, and came.

The islands have seen, and fear. The ends of the earth tremble. They approach, and come.

Every man, to his neighbour, giveth help,—And to his brother, saith Take courage!

Cada cual ayudó á su cercano; y á su hermano dijo: Esfuérzate.

They helped every one his neighbour; and every one said to his brother, Be of good courage.

Everyone helps his neighbor. They say to their brothers, “Be strong!”

So, the carver, hath encouraged, the goldsmith, he that maketh smooth with the hammer, him that smiteth the anvil,—Saying of the welding, It is, good, Then hath he fastened it with nails—it must not totter!

El carpintero animó al platero, y el que alisa con martillo al que batía en el yunque, diciendo, Buena está la soldadura; y afirmólo con clavos, porque no se moviese.

So the carpenter encouraged the goldsmith, and he that smootheth with the hammer him that smote the anvil, saying, It is ready for the sodering: and he fastened it with nails, that it should not be moved.

So the carpenter encourages the goldsmith. He who smooths with the hammer encourages him who strikes the anvil, saying of the soldering, “It is good;” and he fastens it with nails, that it might not totter.

But, thou, Israel, my Servant, Jacob whom I have chosen,—The seed of Abraham my loving one;

Mas tú, Israel, siervo mío eres; tú, Jacob, á quien yo escogí, simiente de Abraham mi amigo.

But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend.

“But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the offspring of Abraham my friend,

Thou whom I have taken hold of from the ends of the earth, And from the extremities thereof, have called thee,—And said to thee, My Servant, thou! I have chosen thee and not cast thee off,

Porque te tomé de los extremos de la tierra, y de sus principales te llamé, y te dije: Mi siervo eres tú; te escogí, y no te deseché.

Thou whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called thee from the chief men thereof, and said unto thee, Thou art my servant; I have chosen thee, and not cast thee away.

you whom I have taken hold of from the ends of the earth, and called from its corners, and said to you, ‘You are my servant. I have chosen you and have not cast you away.’

Do not fear, for with thee, I am! Look not around, for, I, am thy God,—I have emboldened thee, Yea I have helped thee, Yea I have upheld thee with my righteous right-hand.

No temas, que yo soy contigo; no desmayes, que yo soy tu Dios que te esfuerzo: siempre te ayudaré, siempre te sustentaré con la diestra de mi justicia.

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.

Lo! they shall turn pale and be ashamed—All they who have been incensed against thee,—They shall become as nothing and perish—The men who have been thine accusers:

He aquí que todos los que se airan contra ti, serán avergonzados y confundidos: serán como nada y perecerán, los que contienden contigo.

Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish.

Behold, all those who are incensed against you will be disappointed and confounded. Those who strive with you will be like nothing, and shall perish.

Thou shalt seek them, but shalt not find them—The men who have contended with thee, They shall become as nothing, and as a thing of nought—The men who have warred against thee;

Los buscarás, y no los hallarás, los que tienen contienda contigo; serán como nada, y como cosa que no es, aquellos que te hacen guerra.

Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought.

You will seek them, and won’t find them, even those who contend with you. Those who war against you will be as nothing, as a nonexistent thing.

For I, Yahweh thy God am firmly grasping thy right-hand,—Who am saying unto thee Do not fear! I, have become thy helper!

Porque yo Jehová soy tu Dios, que te ase de tu mano derecha, y te dice: No temas, yo te ayudé.

For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.

For I, the LORD your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, ‘Don’t be afraid. I will help you.’

Do not fear, Thou worm Jacob, Ye men of Israel,—I, have become thy helper, Declareth Yahweh, And thy redeemer The Holy One of Israel.

No temas, gusano de Jacob, oh vosotros los pocos de Israel; yo te socorrí, dice Jehová, y tu Redentor el Santo de Israel.

Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the LORD, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

Don’t be afraid, you worm Jacob, and you men of Israel. I will help you,” says the LORD. “Your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel.

Lo! I have made of thee a new pointed threshing sledge, owning teeth,—Thou shalt thresh mountains and crush them, And, hills—like chaff, shalt thou make:

He aquí que yo te he puesto por trillo, trillo nuevo, lleno de dientes: trillarás montes y los molerás, y collados tornarás en tamo.

Behold, I will make thee a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth: thou shalt thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and shalt make the hills as chaff.

Behold, I have made you into a new sharp threshing instrument with teeth. You will thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and will make the hills like chaff.

Thou shalt fan them and, a wind, shall carry them away, And, a whirlwind, scatter, them,—But, thou, shalt exult in Yahweh, And, in the Holy One of Israel, shalt thou boast thyself.

Los aventarás, y los llevará el viento, y esparcirálos el torbellino. Tú empero te regocijarás en Jehová, te gloriarás en el Santo de Israel.

Thou shalt fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them: and thou shalt rejoice in the LORD, and shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel.

You will winnow them, and the wind will carry them away, and the whirlwind will scatter them. You will rejoice in the LORD. You will glory in the Holy One of Israel.

As for the oppressed and the needy. Seeking water when there is none, Their tongue with thirst being parched I—Yahweh, will answer them, The God of Israel, I will not forsake them:

Los afligidos y menesterosos buscan las aguas, que no hay; secóse de sed su lengua; yo Jehová los oiré, yo el Dios de Israel no los desampararé.

When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, I the LORD will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them.

I will open, On bare hills rivers, and In the midst of plains, fountains,—I will make The desert, a lake of water, and Parched land, springs of water;

En los altos abriré ríos, y fuentes en mitad de los llanos: tornaré el desierto en estanques de aguas, y en manaderos de aguas la tierra seca.

I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.

I will open rivers on the bare heights, and springs in the middle of the valleys. I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.

I will set in the desert! Cedar, acacia, and myrtle, and oil-tree,—I will place, in the waste plain, Cypress, holm-oak, and sherbin-cedar, together

Daré en el desierto cedros, espinos, arrayanes, y olivas; pondré en la soledad hayas, olmos, y álamos juntamente;

I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, the shittah tree, and the myrtle, and the oil tree; I will set in the desert the fir tree, and the pine, and the box tree together:

I will put cedar, acacia, myrtle, and oil trees in the wilderness. I will set cypress trees, pine, and box trees together in the desert;

That men may see and observe and consider and understand at once, That, the hand of Yahweh, hath done this, That the Holy One of Israel hath created it.

Porque vean y conozcan, y adviertan y entiendan todos, que la mano de Jehová hace esto, y que el Santo de Israel lo crió.

That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the LORD hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it.

Bring near your contention, Saith Yahweh,—Advance your defences, Saith the King of Jacob:

Alegad por vuestra causa, dice Jehová: exhibid vuestros fundamentos, dice el Rey de Jacob.

Produce your cause, saith the LORD; bring forth your strong reasons, saith the King of Jacob.

Produce your cause,” says the LORD. “Bring out your strong reasons!” says the King of Jacob.

Let them advance them, and tell us, What shall happen,—Things known in advance—what they were, tell ye, That we may lay them to our heart and mark the after-story of them, Or, things yet to come, let us hear:

Traigan, y anúnciennos lo que ha de venir: dígannos lo que ha pasado desde el principio, y pondremos nuestro corazón en ello: sepamos también su postrimería, y hacednos entender lo que ha de venir.

Let them bring them forth, and shew us what shall happen: let them shew the former things, what they be, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare us things for to come.

“Let them announce and declare to us what will happen! Declare the former things, what they are, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or show us things to come.

Tell ye the events which shall be here-after, That we may perceive that gods, ye are,—Surely ye must do something—good or bad, That we may be amazed and behold it, at once.

Dadnos nuevas de lo que ha de ser después, para que sepamos que vosotros sois dioses; ó á lo menos haced bien, ó mal, para que tengamos qué contar, y juntamente nos maravillemos.

Shew the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye are gods: yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold it together.

Declare the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that you are gods. Yes, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and see it together.

Lo! ye, are, of nought, And your work is a puff of breath,—An abomination, he that chooseth you!

He aquí que vosotros sois de nada, y vuestras obras de vanidad; abominación el que os escogió.

Behold, ye are of nothing, and your work of nought: an abomination is he that chooseth you.

Behold, you are nothing, and your work is nothing. He who chooses you is an abomination.

I have roused up one from the North, and he hath come, From the rising of the sun, calleth he on my Name,—And he hath come, on deputies, as though they were mortar, And as a potter treadeth clay.

Del norte desperté uno, y vendrá; del nacimiento del sol llamará en mi nombre: y hollará príncipes como lodo, y como pisa el barro el alfarero.

I have raised up one from the north, and he shall come: from the rising of the sun shall he call upon my name: and he shall come upon princes as upon morter, and as the potter treadeth clay.

“I have raised up one from the north, and he has come, from the rising of the sun, one who calls on my name, and he shall come on rulers as on mortar, and as the potter treads clay.

Who hath told in advance, that we might know, And beforetime, that we might say Right! Nay, there is none who can tell. Nay, there is none who can let us hear, Nay, there is none who can understand what ye utter.

¿Quién lo anunció desde el principio, para que sepamos; ó de tiempo atrás, y diremos: Es justo? Cierto, no hay quien anuncie, sí, no hay quien enseñe, ciertamente no hay quien oiga vuestras palabras.

Who hath declared from the beginning, that we may know? and beforetime, that we may say, He is righteous? yea, there is none that sheweth, yea, there is none that declareth, yea, there is none that heareth your words.

Who has declared it from the beginning, that we may know? and before, that we may say, ‘He is right’? Surely, there is no one who declares. Surely, there is no one who shows. Surely, there is no one who hears your words.

He who is First, †can say, To Zion, Lo! there they are! And to Jerusalem, A herald of good-tidings, do I give.

Yo soy el primero que he enseñado estas cosas á Sión, y á Jerusalem daré un portador de alegres nuevas.

The first shall say to Zion, Behold, behold them: and I will give to Jerusalem one that bringeth good tidings.

I am the first to say to Zion, ‘Behold, look at them;’ and I will give one who brings good news to Jerusalem.

So I look, And there is not, a Man! Even among these And there is none to advise,—That, when I ask them, can answer a word.

Miré, y no había ninguno; y pregunté de estas cosas, y ningún consejero hubo: preguntéles, y no respondieron palabra.

For I beheld, and there was no man; even among them, and there was no counsellor, that, when I asked of them, could answer a word.

When I look, there is no man, even among them there is no counselor who, when I ask, can answer a word.

Lo! as to all of them, Vanity—nothingness, are their works, Wind and emptiness, their molten images!

He aquí, todos iniquidad, y las obras de ellos nada: viento y vanidad son sus vaciadizos.

Behold, they are all vanity; their works are nothing: their molten images are wind and confusion.

Behold, all of their deeds are vanity and nothing. Their molten images are wind and confusion.
