Isaías 40

1Tröstet, tröstet mein Volk, spricht euer Gott; redet freundlich mit Jerusalem und rufet ihr zu,
2daß ihr Frondienst vollendet, daß ihre Schuld gesühnt ist; denn sie hat von der Hand des HERRN Zwiefältiges empfangen für alle ihre Sünden.
3Eine Stimme ruft: In der Wüste bereitet den Weg des HERRN, ebnet auf dem Gefilde eine Bahn unserm Gott!
4Jedes Tal soll erhöht, jeder Berg und Hügel erniedrigt werden, und was krumm ist, soll gerade, und was höckericht ist, zur Ebene werden;
5und die Herrlichkeit des HERRN wird sich offenbaren und alles Fleisch zumal wird sie sehen; denn der Mund des HERRN hat es gesagt.
6Es spricht eine Stimme: Predige! Und er sprach: Was soll ich predigen? «Alles Fleisch ist Gras und alle seine Anmut wie die Blume des Feldes!
7Das Gras wird dürr, die Blume welkt; denn der Hauch des HERRN weht darein. Wahrhaftig, das Volk ist Gras!
8Das Gras verdorrt, die Blume verwelkt; aber das Wort unsres Gottes bleibt in Ewigkeit.»
9Steige auf einen hohen Berg, o Zion, die du gute Botschaft bringst! Erhebe deine Stimme mit Kraft, o Jerusalem, die du gute Botschaft bringst; erhebe sie ohne Furcht; sage den Städten Judas: Seht, da ist euer Gott!
10Siehe, Gott, der HERR, kommt als ein Starker, und sein Arm wird für ihn herrschen; siehe, sein Lohn ist bei ihm, und was er erworben, geht vor ihm her.
11Er wird seine Herde weiden wie ein Hirte; in seinen Arm wird er die Lämmer nehmen und sie an seinem Busen tragen; die Schafmütter wird er sorgsam führen.
12Wer maß die Wasser mit der hohlen Hand? Wer grenzte den Himmel mit der Spanne ab und faßte den Staub der Erde in einen Dreiling? Wer wog die Berge mit der Waage ab und die Hügel mit Waagschalen?
13Wer unterrichtete den Geist des HERRN, und welcher Ratgeber hat ihn unterwiesen?
14Wen hat er um Rat gefragt, daß er ihn verständig mache und ihm den Weg des Rechts weise, daß er ihn Erkenntnis lehre und ihm den Weg des Verstandes zeige?
15Siehe, die Völker sind wie ein Tropfen am Eimer; wie ein Stäublein in den Waagschalen sind sie geachtet; siehe, er hebt die Inseln auf wie ein Sandkörnlein!
16Der Libanon reicht nicht hin zum Feuer, und seine Tiere genügen nicht zum Brandopfer.
17Alle Völker sind wie nichts vor ihm; für eitel und gar nichtig gelten sie ihm!
18Wem wollt ihr denn Gott vergleichen? Oder was für ein Ebenbild wollt ihr ihm an die Seite stellen?
19Das Götzenbild? Das hat der Künstler gegossen, und der Goldschmied überzieht es mit Gold und gießt silberne Ketten daran.
20Wer aber arm ist, wählt zu seinem Weihgeschenk ein Holz, das nicht fault, und sucht sich einen Schnitzer, der ein Götzenbild herstellen kann, das nicht wackelt.
21Wisset ihr es nicht? Hört ihr es nicht? Ist es euch nicht von Anfang an verkündigt worden? Habt ihr die Gründung der Erde nicht begriffen?
22Der ich über dem Kreise der Erde sitze und vor dem ihre Bewohner wie Heuschrecken sind; der ich den Himmel ausbreite wie einen Flor und ihn ausspanne wie ein Zelt, daß man darunter wohne;
23der ich Fürsten zunichte und Richter der Erde machtlos mache
24kaum sind sie gepflanzt, kaum sind sie gesetzt, kaum wurzelt ihr Stamm in der Erde, so hauche ich sie an, daß sie verdorren und dahinfahren wie Stoppeln vor dem Sturmwind;
25wem wollt ihr mich vergleichen, dem ich gleich sein soll? spricht der Heilige.
26Hebet eure Augen zur Höhe und seht: Wer hat diese erschaffen? Er, der ihr Heer nach der Zahl herausführt, der sie alle mit Namen ruft. So groß ist sein Vermögen und so stark ist er, daß es nicht an einem fehlen kann.
27Warum sprichst du denn, Jakob, und sagst du, Israel: Mein Weg ist vor dem HERRN verborgen, und mein Recht entgeht meinem Gott?
28Weißt du denn nicht, hast du denn nicht gehört? Der ewige Gott, der HERR, der die Enden der Erde geschaffen hat, wird nicht müde noch matt; sein Verstand ist unerschöpflich!
29Er gibt dem Müden Kraft und Stärke genug dem Unvermögenden.
30Knaben werden müde und matt, und Jünglinge fallen;
31die aber auf den HERRN harren, kriegen neue Kraft, daß sie auffahren mit Flügeln wie Adler, daß sie laufen und nicht matt werden, daß sie wandeln und nicht müde werden.

1CONSOLAOS, consolaos, pueblo mío, dice vuestro Dios.
2Hablad al corazón de Jerusalem: decidle á voces que su tiempo es ya cumplido, que su pecado es perdonado; que doble ha recibido de la mano de Jehová por todos sus pecados.
3Voz que clama en el desierto: Barred camino á Jehová: enderezad calzada en la soledad á nuestro Dios.
4Todo valle sea alzado, y bájese todo monte y collado; y lo torcido se enderece, y lo áspero se allane.
5Y manifestaráse la gloria de Jehová, y toda carne juntamente la verá; que la boca de Jehová habló.
6Voz que decía: Da voces. Y yo respondí: ¿Qué tengo de decir á voces? Toda carne es hierba, y toda su gloria como flor del campo:
7La hierba se seca, y la flor se cae; porque el viento de Jehová sopló en ella: ciertamente hierba es el pueblo.
8Sécase la hierba, cáese la flor: mas la palabra del Dios nuestro permanece para siempre.
9Súbete sobre un monte alto, anunciadora de Sión; levanta fuertemente tu voz, anunciadora de Jerusalem; levántala, no temas; di á las ciudades de Judá: ¡Veis aquí el Dios vuestro!
10He aquí que el Señor Jehová vendrá con fortaleza, y su brazo se enseñoreará: he aquí que su salario viene con él, y su obra delante de su rostro.
11Como pastor apacentará su rebaño; en su brazo cogerá los corderos, y en su seno los llevará; pastoreará suavemente las paridas.
12¿Quién midió las aguas con su puño, y aderezó los cielos con su palmo, y con tres dedos allegó el polvo de la tierra, y pesó los montes con balanza, y con peso los collados?
13¿Quién enseñó al espíritu de Jehová, ó le aconsejo enseñándole?
14¿A quién demandó consejo para ser avisado? ¿Quién le enseñó el camino del juicio, ó le enseñó ciencia, ó le mostró la senda de la prudencia?
15He aquí que las naciones son reputadas como la gota de un acetre, y como el orín del peso: he aquí que hace desaparecer las islas como polvo.
16Ni el Líbano bastará para el fuego, ni todos sus animales para el sacrificio.
17Como nada son todas las gentes delante de él; y en su comparación serán estimadas en menos que nada, y que lo que no es.
18¿A qué pues haréis semejante á Dios, ó qué imagen le compondréis?
19El artífice apareja la imagen de talla, el platero le extiende el oro, y le funde cadenas de plata.
20El pobre escoge, para ofrecerle, madera que no se corrompa; búscase un maestro sabio, que le haga una imagen de talla que no se mueva.
21¿No sabéis? ¿no habéis oído? ¿nunca os lo han dicho desde el principio? ¿no habéis sido enseñados desde que la tierra se fundó?
22El está asentado sobre el globo de la tierra, cuyos moradores son como langostas: él extiende los cielos como una cortina, tiéndelos como una tienda para morar:
23El torna en nada los poderosos, y á los que gobiernan la tierra hace como cosa vana.
24Como si nunca fueran plantados, como si nunca fueran sembrados, como si nunca su tronco hubiera tenido raíz en la tierra; así que sopla en ellos se secan, y el torbellino los lleva como hojarascas.
25¿A qué pues me haréis semejante, ó seré asimilado? dice el Santo.
26Levantad en alto vuestros ojos, y mirad quién crió estas cosas: él saca por cuenta su ejército: á todas llama por sus nombres; ninguna faltará: tal es la grandeza de su fuerza, y su poder y virtud.
27¿Por qué dices, oh Jacob, y hablas tú, Israel: Mi camino es escondido de Jehová, y de mi Dios pasó mi juicio?
28¿No has sabido, no has oído que el Dios del siglo es Jehová, el cual crió los términos de la tierra? No se trabaja, ni se fatiga con cansancio, y su entendimiento no hay quien lo alcance.
29El da esfuerzo al cansado, y multiplica las fuerzas al que no tiene ningunas.
30Los mancebos se fatigan y se cansan, los mozos flaquean y caen:
31Mas los que esperan á Jehová tendrán nuevas fuerzas; levantarán las alas como águilas; correrán, y no se cansarán; caminarán, y no se fatigarán.

1Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.
2Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the LORD’s hand double for all her sins.
3The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
4Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:
5And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
6The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field:
7The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the LORD bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass.
8The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
9O Zion, that bringest good tidings, get thee up into the high mountain; O Jerusalem, that bringest good tidings, lift up thy voice with strength; lift it up, be not afraid; say unto the cities of Judah, Behold your God!
10Behold, the Lord GOD will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.
11He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.
12Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?
13Who hath directed the Spirit of the LORD, or being his counsellor hath taught him?
14With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed to him the way of understanding?
15Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing.
16And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor the beasts thereof sufficient for a burnt offering.
17All nations before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity.
18To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto him?
19The workman melteth a graven image, and the goldsmith spreadeth it over with gold, and casteth silver chains.
20He that is so impoverished that he hath no oblation chooseth a tree that will not rot; he seeketh unto him a cunning workman to prepare a graven image, that shall not be moved.
21Have ye not known? have ye not heard? hath it not been told you from the beginning? have ye not understood from the foundations of the earth?
22It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:
23That bringeth the princes to nothing; he maketh the judges of the earth as vanity.
24Yea, they shall not be planted; yea, they shall not be sown: yea, their stock shall not take root in the earth: and he shall also blow upon them, and they shall wither, and the whirlwind shall take them away as stubble.
25To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One.
26Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth.
27Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, My way is hid from the LORD, and my judgment is passed over from my God?
28Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.
29He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
30Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:
31But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

1“Comfort, comfort my people,” says your God.
2“Speak comfortably to Jerusalem, and call out to her that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned, that she has received of the LORD’s hand double for all her sins.”
3The voice of one who calls out, “Prepare the way of the LORD in the wilderness! Make a level highway in the desert for our God.
4Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low. The uneven shall be made level, and the rough places a plain.
5The LORD’s glory shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together; for the mouth of the LORD has spoken it.”
6The voice of one saying, “Cry out!” One said, “What shall I cry?” “All flesh is like grass, and all its glory is like the flower of the field.
7The grass withers, the flower fades, because the LORD’s breath blows on it. Surely the people are like grass.

9You who tell good news to Zion, go up on a high mountain. You who tell good news to Jerusalem, lift up your voice with strength! Lift it up! Don’t be afraid! Say to the cities of Judah, “Behold, your God!”
10Behold, the Lord GOD will come as a mighty one, and his arm will rule for him. Behold, his reward is with him, and his recompense before him.

20He who is too impoverished for such an offering chooses a tree that will not rot. He seeks a skillful workman to set up a carved image for him that will not be moved.
21Haven’t you known? Haven’t you heard? Haven’t you been told from the beginning? Haven’t you understood from the foundations of the earth?
22It is he who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers; who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them out like a tent to dwell in,
23who brings princes to nothing, who makes the judges of the earth meaningless.
24They are planted scarcely. They are sown scarcely. Their stock has scarcely taken root in the ground. He merely blows on them, and they wither, and the whirlwind takes them away as stubble.
25“To whom then will you liken me? Who is my equal?” says the Holy One.
26Lift up your eyes on high, and see who has created these, who brings out their army by number. He calls them all by name. By the greatness of his might, and because he is strong in power, not one is lacking.
27Why do you say, Jacob, and speak, Israel, “My way is hidden from the LORD, and the justice due me is disregarded by my God”?
28Haven’t you known? Haven’t you heard? The everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, doesn’t faint. He isn’t weary. His understanding is unsearchable.
29He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might.
30Even the youths faint and get weary, and the young men utterly fall;
31but those who wait for the LORD will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint.
