1An jenem Tage wird man dieses Lied im Lande Juda singen: »Eine feste Stadt haben wir; zum Schutz hat er ihr Mauern und Außenwerk geschaffen.
2Öffnet die Tore, damit ein gerechtes Volk einziehe, das die Treue bewahrt!
3Ein festes Herz segnest du mit Heil, mit Heil, weil es voll Vertrauen auf dich ist.
4Vertrauet auf den HERRN für und für, denn an Gott dem HERRN habt ihr einen ewigen Felsen.
5Denn niedergeworfen hat er die, welche eine Hochburg bewohnten, eine hochragende Stadt; er hat sie erniedrigt, ja erniedrigt bis zum Erdboden, hat sie niedergestoßen bis in den Staub:
6zertreten soll sie der Fuß, ja die Füße der Niedrigen, die Tritte der Geringen.«
7Der Pfad des Gerechten ist ebener Pfad, geradeaus geht die Bahn des Gerechten: du läßt sie eben sein.
8Auch auf dem Wege deiner Gerichte, HERR, harren wir dein; nach deinem Namen und nach deinem Lobpreis steht das Verlangen unsers Herzens.
9Mein Herz verlangt nach dir in der Nacht, auch sehnt sich mein Geist nach dir in meinem Inneren; denn sobald deine Gerichte die Erde treffen, lernen die Bewohner des Erdkreises Gerechtigkeit.
10Wird dem Gottlosen Gnade zuteil, so lernt er nicht Gerechtigkeit; nein, in einem Lande, wo das Recht gilt, bleibt er doch ein Frevler und sieht nichts von der Erhabenheit des HERRN.
11HERR, ist deine Hand auch hocherhoben: sie sehen es nicht; laß sie zu ihrer Beschämung deinen Eifer um dein Volk sehen! Ja, das Zornesfeuer, das deine Widersacher erwartet, möge sie verzehren!
12HERR, du wirst uns Heil schaffen, denn du hast ja auch alle unsere Taten für uns vollbracht.
13HERR, unser Gott, es haben zwar außer dir noch andere als Herren über uns geherrscht, aber dich allein preisen wir, deinen Namen.
14Tote leben nicht wieder auf, Unterweltsbewohner erstehen nicht wieder: zu dem Zwecke hast du sie ja heimgesucht und vernichtet und jede Erinnerung an sie ausgetilgt.
15Gleichwohl hast du Zuwachs dem Volke verliehen, HERR, ja Zuwachs dem Volke; du hast dich verherrlicht, alle Grenzen des Landes weit hinausgerückt.
16HERR, in der Bedrängnis haben sie dich gesucht; als deine Züchtigung sie traf, haben sie sich in flüsternde Gebete ergossen.
17Wie eine Schwangere, wenn ihre Stunde da ist, sich windet und aufschreit in ihren Wehen, so ist es auch uns, HERR, ergangen – von dir aus geschah es –:
18wir gingen schwanger, wanden uns in Wehen; doch als wir gebaren, war es Wind: Rettung schafften wir dem Lande nicht, und Erdenbewohner kamen nicht ans Tageslicht.
19Werden wohl deine Toten wieder aufleben? (Auch) meine Leichen? Ja, sie werden auferstehen! Wacht auf und jubelt, die ihr im Staube ruht! Denn ein Tau der Himmelslichter ist dein Tau, und so wird die Erde die Schatten wieder ans Tageslicht bringen.
20Wohlan, mein Volk, gehe in deine Kammern hinein und schließe deine Türen hinter dir zu! Verbirg dich einen kurzen Augenblick, bis das Zorngericht vorübergegangen ist.
21Denn gar bald wird der HERR aus seiner Wohnstätte hervortreten, um die Erdbewohner zur Rechenschaft wegen ihrer Verschuldung zu ziehen; dann wird die Erde das von ihr verschluckte Blut wieder zum Vorschein bringen und die in ihr verscharrten Ermordeten nicht länger verbergen.

1EN aquel día cantarán este cantar en tierra de Judá: Fuerte ciudad tenemos: salud puso Dios por muros y antemuro.
2Abrid las puertas, y entrará la gente justa, guardadora de verdades.
3Tú le guardarás en completa paz, cuyo pensamiento en ti persevera; porque en ti se ha confiado.
4Confiad en Jehová perpetuamente: porque en el Señor Jehová está la fortaleza de los siglos.
5Porque derribó los que moraban en lugar sublime: humilló la ciudad ensalzada, humillóla hasta la tierra, derribóla hasta el polvo.
6Hollarála pie, los pies del afligido, los pasos de los menesterosos.
7El camino del justo es rectitud: Tú, Recto, pesas el camino del justo.
8También en el camino de tus juicios, oh Jehová, te hemos esperado: á tu nombre y á tu memoria es el deseo del alma.
9Con mi alma te he deseado en la noche; y en tanto que me durare el espíritu en medio de mí, madrugaré á buscarte: porque luego que hay juicios tuyos en la tierra, los moradores del mundo aprenden justicia.
10Alcanzará piedad el impío, y no aprenderá justicia; en tierra de rectitud hará iniquidad, y no mirará á la majestad de Jehová.
11Jehová, bien que se levante tu mano, no ven: verán al cabo, y se avergonzarán los que envidian á tu pueblo; y á tus enemigos fuego los consumirá.
12Jehová, tú nos depararás paz; porque también obraste en nosotros todas nuestras obras.
13Jehová Dios nuestro, señores se han enseñoreado de nosotros fuera de ti; mas en ti solamente nos acordaremos de tu nombre.
14Muertos son, no vivirán: han fallecido, no resucitarán: porque los visitaste, y destruiste, y deshiciste toda su memoria.
15Añadiste al pueblo, oh Jehová, añadiste al pueblo: hicístete glorioso: extendístelo hasta todos los términos de la tierra.
16Jehová, en la tribulación te buscaron: derramaron oración cuando los castigaste.
17Como la preñada cuando se acerca el parto gime, y da gritos con sus dolores, así hemos sido delante de ti, oh Jehová.
18Concebimos, tuvimos dolores de parto, parimos como viento: salud ninguna hicimos en la tierra, ni cayeron los moradores del mundo.
19Tus muertos vivirán; junto con mi cuerpo muerto resucitarán. ¡Despertad y cantad, moradores del polvo! porque tu rocío, cual rocío de hortalizas; y la tierra echará los muertos.
20Anda, pueblo mío, éntrate en tus aposentos, cierra tras ti tus puertas; escóndete un poquito, por un momento, en tanto que pasa la ira.
21Porque he aquí que Jehová sale de su lugar, para visitar la maldad del morador de la tierra contra él; y la tierra descubrirá sus sangres, y no más encubrirá sus muertos.

1In that day shall this song be sung in the land of Judah; We have a strong city; salvation will God appoint for walls and bulwarks.
2Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in.
3Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
4Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:
5For he bringeth down them that dwell on high; the lofty city, he layeth it low; he layeth it low, even to the ground; he bringeth it even to the dust.
6The foot shall tread it down, even the feet of the poor, and the steps of the needy.
7The way of the just is uprightness: thou, most upright, dost weigh the path of the just.
8Yea, in the way of thy judgments, O LORD, have we waited for thee; the desire of our soul is to thy name, and to the remembrance of thee.
9With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.
10Let favour be shewed to the wicked, yet will he not learn righteousness: in the land of uprightness will he deal unjustly, and will not behold the majesty of the LORD.
11LORD, when thy hand is lifted up, they will not see: but they shall see, and be ashamed for their envy at the people; yea, the fire of thine enemies shall devour them.
12LORD, thou wilt ordain peace for us: for thou also hast wrought all our works in us.
13O LORD our God, other lords beside thee have had dominion over us: but by thee only will we make mention of thy name.
14They are dead, they shall not live; they are deceased, they shall not rise: therefore hast thou visited and destroyed them, and made all their memory to perish.
15Thou hast increased the nation, O LORD, thou hast increased the nation: thou art glorified: thou hadst removed it far unto all the ends of the earth.
16LORD, in trouble have they visited thee, they poured out a prayer when thy chastening was upon them.
17Like as a woman with child, that draweth near the time of her delivery, is in pain, and crieth out in her pangs; so have we been in thy sight, O LORD.
18We have been with child, we have been in pain, we have as it were brought forth wind; we have not wrought any deliverance in the earth; neither have the inhabitants of the world fallen.
19Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead.
20Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast.
21For, behold, the LORD cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.
World English Bible
1In that day, this song will be sung in the land of Judah: “We have a strong city. God appoints salvation for walls and bulwarks.
2Open the gates, that the righteous nation may enter: the one which keeps faith.
3You will keep whoever’s mind is steadfast in perfect peace, because he trusts in you.
4Trust in the LORD forever; for in the LORD, the LORD, is an everlasting Rock.
5For he has brought down those who dwell on high, the lofty city. He lays it low. He lays it low even to the ground. He brings it even to the dust.
6The foot shall tread it down, even the feet of the poor and the steps of the needy.”
7The way of the just is uprightness. You who are upright make the path of the righteous level.
8Yes, in the way of your judgments, LORD, we have waited for you. Your name and your renown are the desire of our soul.
9With my soul I have desired you in the night. Yes, with my spirit within me I will seek you earnestly; for when your judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.
10Let favor be shown to the wicked, yet he will not learn righteousness. In the land of uprightness he will deal wrongfully, and will not see the LORD’s majesty.
11LORD, your hand is lifted up, yet they don’t see; but they will see your zeal for the people and be disappointed. Yes, fire will consume your adversaries.
12LORD, you will ordain peace for us, for you have also done all our work for us.
13LORD our God, other lords besides you have had dominion over us, but we will only acknowledge your name.
14The dead shall not live. The departed spirits shall not rise. Therefore you have visited and destroyed them, and caused all memory of them to perish.
15You have increased the nation, O LORD. You have increased the nation! You are glorified! You have enlarged all the borders of the land.
16LORD, in trouble they have visited you. They poured out a prayer when your chastening was on them.
17Just as a woman with child, who draws near the time of her delivery, is in pain and cries out in her pangs, so we have been before you, LORD.
18We have been with child. We have been in pain. We gave birth, it seems, only to wind. We have not worked any deliverance in the earth; neither have the inhabitants of the world fallen.
19Your dead shall live. Their dead bodies shall arise. Awake and sing, you who dwell in the dust; for your dew is like the dew of herbs, and the earth will cast out the departed spirits.
20Come, my people, enter into your rooms, and shut your doors behind you. Hide yourself for a little moment, until the indignation is past.
21For, behold, the LORD comes out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity. The earth also will disclose her blood, and will no longer cover her slain.
