1Ausspruch über die Meereswüste. Gleich Stürmen im Mittagslande, die heranjagen, kommt es aus der Wüste, aus furchtbarem Lande.
2Ein hartes Gesicht ist mir kund geworden: der Gewaltthätige vergewaltigt noch immer, und der Verwüster verwüstet noch immer! Ziehe heran, Elam! Belagere, Medien! All' ihrem Seufzen mach' ich ein Ende!
3Deshalb liegen meine Hüften in Zuckungen, packen mich Wehen wie die Wehen einer Gebärenden, bin ich schwindelig, daß ich nicht höre, bestürzt, daß ich nicht sehe.
4Es taumeln meine Sinne, Entsetzen verstört mich; die Dämmerung, die mir so lieb, hat es mir in Beben verwandelt!
5man bereitet den Tisch, legt die Teppiche, man ißt, man trinkt - auf, ihr Fürsten, salbt den Schild!
6Denn so sprach der Herr zu mir: Auf, bestelle einen Späher! Was er sieht, soll er melden!
7Und sieht er Berittene, Gespanne von Rossen, Eselreiter oder Kamelreiter, so soll er aufhorchen, gespannt aufhorchen!
8Er aber rief: Auf der Warte stehe ich, o Herr, beständig bei Tage und verharre auf meiner Wacht alle Nächte hindurch!
9Siehe, da kamen berittene Männer, Gespanne von Rossen. Die hoben an und sprachen: Gefallen, gefallen ist Babel, und alle seine Götterbilder hat er zu Boden geschmettert!
10O mein zermalmtes und zerdroschenes Volk! Was ich von Jahwe der Heerscharen, dem Gott Israels, vernommen habe, habe ich euch verkündigt!
11Ausspruch über Duma. Aus Seir ruft man mir zu: Wächter, wie spät ist's in der Nacht? Wächter, wie spät ist's in der Nacht?
12Der Wächter spricht: Es kommt der Morgen, aber auch Nacht. Wenn ihr fragen wollt, so kommt nur wieder und fragt!
13Ausspruch “Am Abend”. Übernachtet am Abend im Wald, ihr Karawanen der Dedaniter!
14Bringt Wasser den Durstigen entgegen, ihr Bewohner des Landes Thema! Bietet den Flüchtigen Brot an!
15Denn vor Schwertern sind sie flüchtig geworden, vor dem gezückten Schwert und vor dem gespannten Bogen und vor der Wucht des Kampfs.
16Denn so sprach der Herr zu mir: In einem Jahre, wie die Jahre eines Lohnarbeiters gerechnet werden, wird die ganze Macht Kedars zu nichte sein.
17Und der Überrest von der Zahl der Bogen der Kriegsmänner der Kedarener wird gering sein. Ja, Jahwe, der Gott Israels, hat es geredet!

1CARGA del desierto de la mar. Como los torbellinos que pasan por el desierto en la región del mediodía, así vienen de la tierra horrenda.
2Visión dura me ha sido mostrada. El prevaricador prevarica, y el destructor destruye. Sube, Persa; cerca, Medo. Todo su gemido hice cesar.
3Por tanto mis lomos se han llenado de dolor; angustias se apoderaron de mí, como angustias de mujer de parto: agobiéme oyendo, y al ver heme espantado.
4Pasmóse mi corazón, el horror me ha intimidado; la noche de mi deseo se me tornó en espanto.
5Pon la mesa, mira del atalaya, come, bebe: levantaos, príncipes, ungid el escudo.
6Porque el Señor me dijo así: Ve, pon centinela que haga saber lo que viere.
7Y vió un carro de un par de caballeros, un carro de asno, y un carro de camello. Luego miró muy más atentamente.
8Y gritó como un león: Señor, sobre la atalaya estoy yo continuamente de día, y las noches enteras sobre mi guarda:
9Y he aquí este carro de hombres viene, un par de caballeros. Después habló, y dijo: Cayó, cayó Babilonia; y todos los ídolos de sus dioses quebrantó en tierra.
10Trilla mía, y paja de mi era: os he dicho lo que oí de Jehová de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel.
11Carga de Duma. Danme voces de Seir: Guarda, ¿qué de la noche? Guarda, ¿qué de la noche?
12El guarda respondió: La mañana viene, y después la noche: si preguntareis, preguntad; volved, venid.
13Carga sobre Arabia. En el monte tendréis la noche en Arabia, oh caminantes de Dedanim.
14Salid á encontrar al sediento; llevadle aguas, moradores de tierra de Tema, socorred con su pan al que huye.
15Porque de la presencia de las espadas huyen, de la presencia de la espada desnuda, de la presencia del arco entesado, de la presencia del peso de la batalla.
16Porque así me ha dicho Jehová: De aquí á un año, semejante á años de mozo de soldada, toda la gloria de Cedar será deshecha;
17Y las reliquias del número de los valientes flecheros, hijos de Cedar, serán apocadas: porque Jehová Dios de Israel lo ha dicho.

1The burden of the desert of the sea. As whirlwinds in the south pass through; so it cometh from the desert, from a terrible land.
2A grievous vision is declared unto me; the treacherous dealer dealeth treacherously, and the spoiler spoileth. Go up, O Elam: besiege, O Media; all the sighing thereof have I made to cease.
3Therefore are my loins filled with pain: pangs have taken hold upon me, as the pangs of a woman that travaileth: I was bowed down at the hearing of it; I was dismayed at the seeing of it.
4My heart panted, fearfulness affrighted me: the night of my pleasure hath he turned into fear unto me.
5Prepare the table, watch in the watchtower, eat, drink: arise, ye princes, and anoint the shield.
6For thus hath the Lord said unto me, Go, set a watchman, let him declare what he seeth.
7And he saw a chariot with a couple of horsemen, a chariot of asses, and a chariot of camels; and he hearkened diligently with much heed:
8And he cried, A lion: My lord, I stand continually upon the watchtower in the daytime, and I am set in my ward whole nights:
9And, behold, here cometh a chariot of men, with a couple of horsemen. And he answered and said, Babylon is fallen, is fallen; and all the graven images of her gods he hath broken unto the ground.
10O my threshing, and the corn of my floor: that which I have heard of the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, have I declared unto you.
11The burden of Dumah. He calleth to me out of Seir, Watchman, what of the night? Watchman, what of the night?
12The watchman said, The morning cometh, and also the night: if ye will enquire, enquire ye: return, come.
13The burden upon Arabia. In the forest in Arabia shall ye lodge, O ye travelling companies of Dedanim.
14The inhabitants of the land of Tema brought water to him that was thirsty, they prevented with their bread him that fled.
15For they fled from the swords, from the drawn sword, and from the bent bow, and from the grievousness of war.
16For thus hath the Lord said unto me, Within a year, according to the years of an hireling, and all the glory of Kedar shall fail:
17And the residue of the number of archers, the mighty men of the children of Kedar, shall be diminished: for the LORD God of Israel hath spoken it.

1The burden of the wilderness of the sea. As whirlwinds in the South sweep through, it comes from the wilderness, from an awesome land.
2A grievous vision is declared to me. The treacherous man deals treacherously, and the destroyer destroys. Go up, Elam; attack! I have stopped all of Media’s sighing.
3Therefore my thighs are filled with anguish. Pains have seized me, like the pains of a woman in labor. I am in so much pain that I can’t hear. I am so dismayed that I can’t see.
4My heart flutters. Horror has frightened me. The twilight that I desired has been turned into trembling for me.
5They prepare the table. They set the watch. They eat. They drink. Rise up, you princes, oil the shield!
6For the Lord said to me, “Go, set a watchman. Let him declare what he sees.
7When he sees a troop, horsemen in pairs, a troop of donkeys, a troop of camels, he shall listen diligently with great attentiveness.”
8He cried like a lion: “Lord, I stand continually on the watchtower in the daytime, and every night I stay at my post.
9Behold, here comes a troop of men, horsemen in pairs.” He answered, “Fallen, fallen is Babylon; and all the engraved images of her gods are broken to the ground.
10You are my threshing, and the grain of my floor!” That which I have heard from the LORD of Armies, the God of Israel, I have declared to you.
11The burden of Dumah. One calls to me out of Seir, “Watchman, what of the night? Watchman, what of the night?”
12The watchman said, “The morning comes, and also the night. If you will inquire, inquire. Come back again.”
13The burden on Arabia. You will lodge in the thickets in Arabia, you caravans of Dedanites.
14They brought water to him who was thirsty. The inhabitants of the land of Tema met the fugitives with their bread.
15For they fled away from the swords, from the drawn sword, from the bent bow, and from the heat of battle.
16For the Lord said to me, “Within a year, as a worker bound by contract would count it, all the glory of Kedar will fail,
17and the residue of the number of the archers, the mighty men of the children of Kedar, will be few; for the LORD, the God of Israel, has spoken it.”
