1(Dies ist) die Offenbarung, die Jesaja, der Sohn des Amoz, über Juda und (besonders) Jerusalem geschaut hat in den Tagen der judäischen Könige Ussia, Jotham, Ahas und Hiskia.
2Höret, ihr Himmel, und horche auf, o Erde! Denn der HERR redet: »Söhne habe ich großgezogen und zu Ehren gebracht, doch sie sind mir untreu geworden!
3Ein Rind kennt seinen Besitzer und ein Esel die Krippe seines Herrn; aber Israel hat keine Erkenntnis, mein Volk ist ohne Einsicht!«
4Wehe dem sündigen Geschlecht, dem schuldbeladenen Volk, der Brut von Missetätern, den entarteten Söhnen! Den HERRN haben sie verlassen, den Heiligen Israels verworfen, sich zur Abkehr von ihm gewandt!
5Auf welche Stelle soll man euch noch schlagen, da ihr ja doch im Abfall verharret? Das ganze Haupt ist krank und das ganze Herz siech;
6von der Fußsohle bis zum Scheitel ist nichts Unversehrtes mehr an ihm: nur Wunden und Striemen und frische Schläge, die nicht ausgedrückt und nicht verbunden, noch mit Öl erweicht sind.
7Euer Land ist zu einer Wüste geworden: eure Städte sind mit Feuer verbrannt, euer Ackerland – Fremde verzehren seinen Ertrag vor euren Augen; ja, eine Wüstenei ist (alles), wie einst bei der Zerstörung Sodoms;
8und übriggeblieben ist die Tochter Zion wie eine Hütte im Weinberg, wie ein Wächterhäuschen im Gurkenfeld, wie ein eingeschlossener Wachtturm.
9Hätte der HERR der Heerscharen von uns nicht eben noch einen Rest übriggelassen: schier wie Sodom wären wir geworden und hätten gleiches Schicksal mit Gomorrha gehabt!
10Höret das Wort des HERRN, ihr Sodomsfürsten! Merk auf die Weisung unsres Gottes, du Gomorrhavolk!
11»Wozu soll mir die Menge eurer Schlachtopfer dienen?« fragt der HERR; »überdrüssig bin ich der Brandopfer von Widdern und des Fettes der Mastkälber, und am Blut von Jungstieren, Lämmern und Böcken habe ich kein Wohlgefallen.
12Wenn ihr kommt, um vor meinem Angesicht euch sehen zu lassen – wer hat das von euch verlangt, meine Vorhöfe zu zertreten?
13Bringt mir keine heuchlerischen Speisopfer mehr dar: greuelhafter Opferrauch sind sie mir! Neumonde und Sabbate, die Berufung von Festversammlungen: ich kann Gottlosigkeit im Verein mit Festgepränge nicht ertragen!
14Eure Neumonde und Festzeiten sind meinem Herzen verhaßt, sie sind mir zur Last geworden, und bin’s müde, sie zu ertragen!
15Und wenn ihr eure Hände ausbreitet (beim Gebet), verhülle ich meine Augen vor euch; auch wenn ihr noch soviel betet, höre ich doch nicht darauf: eure Hände sind ja voll Blutschuld.
16Wascht euch, reinigt euch, schafft eure bösen Taten mir aus den Augen! Hört auf, Böses zu tun,
17lernt Gutes tun, kümmert euch um die Rechtspflege, tretet den Gewalttätigen entgegen, schafft den Waisen Recht und führt die Sache der Witwen!«
18»So kommt denn her, wir wollen miteinander rechten!« spricht der HERR. »Wenn eure Sünden auch rot wie Scharlach sind, sollen sie doch weiß werden wie Schnee; und sind sie auch rot wie Purpur, sollen sie doch weiß wie Wolle werden.
19Wenn ihr willig und gehorsam seid, sollt ihr die köstlichen Gaben des Landes genießen;
20doch wenn ihr euch weigert und widerspenstig seid, sollt ihr vom Schwert gefressen werden; denn der Mund des HERRN hat gesprochen!«
21Ach wie ist doch die (einstmals) treue Stadt zur Ehebrecherin geworden, Zion, das (vordem) voll von Rechtspflege war! Die Gerechtigkeit hatte eine Wohnstätte in ihr, jetzt aber Mörder!
22Dein Silber ist zu Schlacken geworden, dein edler Wein mit Wasser verschnitten.
23Deine Oberen sind Aufrührer geworden und Diebsgesellen; sie sind alle in Geschenke verliebt und laufen hinter Bestechung her; den Waisen schaffen sie nicht Recht, und die Sache der Witwen gelangt nicht vor sie.
24Darum lautet der Ausspruch des Höchsten, der HERRN der Heerscharen, des starken Helden Israels: »Ha! Ich will meinen Zorn an meinen Widersachern kühlen und Rache an meinen Feinden nehmen!
25Ich will meine Hand gegen dich kehren und deine Schlacken wie mit Laugensalz ausschmelzen und all dein unedles Metall ausscheiden,
26und will dir wieder Richter schaffen wie in der Vorzeit und Ratgeber wie zu Anfang: danach wird man dich nennen ›die Burg der Gerechtigkeit, die treue Stadt‹.«
27Zion wird durch Gericht erlöst werden, aber die sich in ihm Bekehrenden durch Gerechtigkeit.
28Und zwar wird Vernichtung die Abtrünnigen und Sünder allesamt treffen, und die vom HERRN Abgefallenen werden umkommen!
29Ja, ihr sollt zuschanden werden wegen der Terebinthen, die eure Lust sind, und vor Scham erröten wegen der Gärten, die ihr so gern habt!
30Denn ihr sollt werden wie eine Terebinthe, deren Laub verwelkt, und einem Garten gleichen, der kein Wasser hat!
31Und sogar der Mächtige soll zu (dürrem) Werg werden und sein Werk zum (zündenden) Funken, und sie sollen beide zusammen verbrennen, ohne daß jemand löschen kann!

1VISIÓN de Isaías hijo de Amoz, la cual vió sobre Judá y Jerusalem, en días de Uzzías, Jotham, Achâz y Ezechîas, reyes de Judá.
2Oid, cielos, y escucha tú, tierra; porque habla Jehová: Crié hijos, y engrandecílos, y ellos se rebelaron contra mí.
3El buey conoce á su dueño, y el asno el pesebre de su señor: Israel no conoce, mi pueblo no tiene entendimiento.
4¡Oh gente pecadora, pueblo cargado de maldad, generación de malignos, hijos depravados! Dejaron á Jehová, provocaron á ira al Santo de Israel, tornáronse atrás.
5¿Para qué habéis de ser castigados aún? todavía os rebelaréis. Toda cabeza está enferma, y todo corazón doliente.
6Desde la planta del pie hasta la cabeza no hay en él cosa ilesa, sino herida, hinchazón y podrida llaga: no están curadas, ni vendadas, ni suavizadas con aceite.
7Vuestra tierra está destruída, vuestras ciudades puestas á fuego, vuestra tierra delante de vosotros comida de extranjeros, y asolada como asolamiento de extraños.
8Y queda la hija de Sión como choza en viña, y como cabaña en melonar, como ciudad asolada.
9Si Jehová de los ejércitos no hubiera hecho que nos quedasen muy cortos residuos, como Sodoma fuéramos, y semejantes á Gomorra.
10Príncipes de Sodoma, oid la palabra de Jehová; escuchad la ley de nuestro Dios, pueblo de Gomorra.
11¿Para qué á mí, dice Jehová, la multitud de vuestros sacrificios? Harto estoy de holocaustos de carneros, y de sebo de animales gruesos: no quiero sangre de bueyes, ni de ovejas, ni de machos cabríos.
12¿Quién demandó esto de vuestras manos, cuando vinieseis á presentaros delante de mí, para hollar mis atrios?
13No me traigáis más vano presente: el perfume me es abominación: luna nueva y sábado, el convocar asambleas, no las puedo sufrir: son iniquidad vuestras solemnidades.
14Vuestras lunas nuevas y vuestras solemnidades tiene aborrecidas mi alma: me son gravosas; cansado estoy de llevarlas.
15Cuando extendiereis vuestras manos, yo esconderé de vosotros mis ojos: asimismo cuando multiplicareis la oración, yo no oiré: llenas están de sangre vuestras manos.
16Lavad, limpiaos; quitad la iniquidad de vuestras obras de ante mis ojos; dejad de hacer lo malo:
17Aprended á hacer bien; buscad juicio, restituid al agraviado, oid en derecho al huérfano, amparad á la viuda.
18Venid luego, dirá Jehová, y estemos á cuenta: si vuestros pecados fueren como la grana, como la nieve serán emblanquecidos: si fueren rojos como el carmesí, vendrán á ser como blanca lana.
19Si quisiereis y oyereis, comeréis el bien de la tierra:
20Si no quisiereis y fuereis rebeldes, seréis consumidos á espada: porque la boca de Jehová lo ha dicho.
21¿Cómo te has tornado ramera, oh ciudad fiel? Llena estuvo de juicio, en ella habitó equidad; mas ahora, homicidas.
22Tu plata se ha tornado escorias, tu vino mezclado está con agua.
23Tus príncipes, prevaricadores y compañeros de ladrones: todos aman las dádivas, y van tras las recompensas: no oyen en juicio al huérfano, ni llega á ellos la causa de la viuda.
24Por tanto, dice el Señor Jehová de los ejércitos, el Fuerte de Israel: Ea, tomaré satisfacción de mis enemigos, vengaréme de mis adversarios:
25Y volveré mi mano sobre ti, y limpiaré hasta lo más puro tus escorias, y quitaré todo tu estaño:
26Y restituiré tus jueces como al principio, y tus consejeros como de primero: entonces te llamarán Ciudad de justicia, Ciudad fiel.
27Sión con juicio será rescatada, y los convertidos de ella con justicia.
28Mas los rebeldes y pecadores á una serán quebrantados, y los que dejan á Jehová serán consumidos.
29Entonces os avergonzarán los olmos que amasteis, y os afrentarán los bosques que escogisteis.
30Porque seréis como el olmo que se le cae la hoja, y como huerto que le faltan las aguas.
31Y el fuerte será como estopa, y lo que hizo como centella; y ambos serán encendidos juntamente, y no habrá quien apague.

1The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.
2Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the LORD hath spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me.
3The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master’s crib: but Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider.
4Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.
5Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.
6From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment.
7Your country is desolate, your cities are burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.
8And the daughter of Zion is left as a cottage in a vineyard, as a lodge in a garden of cucumbers, as a besieged city.
9Except the LORD of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah.
10Hear the word of the LORD, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah.
11To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats.
12When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts?
13Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting.
14Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them.
15And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.
16Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;
17Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.
18Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
19If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
20But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
21How is the faithful city become an harlot! it was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers.
22Thy silver is become dross, thy wine mixed with water:
23Thy princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves: every one loveth gifts, and followeth after rewards: they judge not the fatherless, neither doth the cause of the widow come unto them.
24Therefore saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will ease me of mine adversaries, and avenge me of mine enemies:
25And I will turn my hand upon thee, and purely purge away thy dross, and take away all thy tin:
26And I will restore thy judges as at the first, and thy counsellors as at the beginning: afterward thou shalt be called, The city of righteousness, the faithful city.
27Zion shall be redeemed with judgment, and her converts with righteousness.
28And the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together, and they that forsake the LORD shall be consumed.
29For they shall be ashamed of the oaks which ye have desired, and ye shall be confounded for the gardens that ye have chosen.
30For ye shall be as an oak whose leaf fadeth, and as a garden that hath no water.
31And the strong shall be as tow, and the maker of it as a spark, and they shall both burn together, and none shall quench them.

1The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem, in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.
2Hear, heavens, and listen, earth; for the LORD has spoken: “I have nourished and brought up children and they have rebelled against me.
3The ox knows his owner, and the donkey his master’s crib; but Israel doesn’t know. My people don’t consider.”
4Ah sinful nation, a people loaded with iniquity, offspring of evildoers, children who deal corruptly! They have forsaken the LORD. They have despised the Holy One of Israel. They are estranged and backward.
5Why should you be beaten more, that you revolt more and more? The whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.
6From the sole of the foot even to the head there is no soundness in it, but wounds, welts, and open sores. They haven’t been closed, bandaged, or soothed with oil.
7Your country is desolate. Your cities are burned with fire. Strangers devour your land in your presence and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.
8The daughter of Zion is left like a shelter in a vineyard, like a hut in a field of melons, like a besieged city.
9Unless the LORD of Armies had left to us a very small remnant, we would have been as Sodom. We would have been like Gomorrah.
10Hear the LORD’s word, you rulers of Sodom! Listen to the law of our God, you people of Gomorrah!
11“What are the multitude of your sacrifices to me?”, says the LORD. “I have had enough of the burnt offerings of rams and the fat of fed animals. I don’t delight in the blood of bulls, or of lambs, or of male goats.
12When you come to appear before me, who has required this at your hand, to trample my courts?
13Bring no more vain offerings. Incense is an abomination to me. New moons, Sabbaths, and convocations— I can’t stand evil assemblies.
14My soul hates your New Moons and your appointed feasts. They are a burden to me. I am weary of bearing them.
15When you spread out your hands, I will hide my eyes from you. Yes, when you make many prayers, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood.
16Wash yourselves. Make yourself clean. Put away the evil of your doings from before my eyes. Cease to do evil.
17Learn to do well. Seek justice. Relieve the oppressed. Defend the fatherless. Plead for the widow.”

25I will turn my hand on you, thoroughly purge away your dross, and will take away all your tin.
26I will restore your judges as at the first, and your counselors as at the beginning. Afterward you shall be called ‘The city of righteousness, a faithful town.’
27Zion shall be redeemed with justice, and her converts with righteousness.
