Oseas 4

Hear the word of Yahweh, ye sons of Israel,—that, a controversy, hath Yahweh with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no faithfulness, nor lovingkindness, nor knowledge of God, in the land:

OID palabra de Jehová, hijos de Israel, porque Jehová pleitea con los moradores de la tierra; porque no hay verdad, ni misericordia, ni conocimiento de Dios en la tierra.

Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.

Hear the LORD’s word, you children of Israel, for the LORD has a charge against the inhabitants of the land: “Indeed there is no truth, nor goodness, nor knowledge of God in the land.

Cursing and lying, and killing and stealing, and committing adultery, have broken forth, and, blood-shedding, unto blood-shedding, doth extend.

Perjurar, y mentir, y matar, y hurtar y adulterar prevalecieron, y sangres se tocaron con sangres.

By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood.

There is cursing, lying, murder, stealing, and committing adultery; they break boundaries, and bloodshed causes bloodshed.

For this cause, shall the land mourn, and everyone who dwelleth therein shall languish, with the wild beast of the field and with the bird of the heavens,—moreover also, the fishes of the sea, shall be withdrawn.

Por lo cual, se enlutará la tierra, y extenuaráse todo morador de ella, con las bestias del campo, y las aves del cielo: y aun los peces de la mar fallecerán.

Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away.

Therefore the land will mourn, and everyone who dwells in it will waste away, with all living things in her, even the animals of the field and the birds of the sky; yes, the fish of the sea also die.

Howbeit let, no man, contend, nor let him rebuke another,—since, thy people, are as they who contend against a priest:

Ciertamente hombre no contienda ni reprenda á hombre, porque tu pueblo es como los que resisten al sacerdote.

Yet let no man strive, nor reprove another: for thy people are as they that strive with the priest.

“Yet let no man bring a charge, neither let any man accuse; for your people are like those who bring charges against a priest.

So shouldst thou stumble in the daytime, and even the prophet stumble with thee, in the night,—and I should destroy thine own mother.

Caerás por tanto en el día, y caerá también contigo el profeta de noche; y á tu madre talaré.

Therefore shalt thou fall in the day, and the prophet also shall fall with thee in the night, and I will destroy thy mother.

You will stumble in the day, and the prophet will also stumble with you in the night; and I will destroy your mother.

My people, are destroyed, for lack of knowledge,—Because, thou, hast rejected knowledge, therefore will I reject thee from ministering as priest unto me, and, because thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I also, will forget thy children.

Mi pueblo fué talado, porque le faltó sabiduría. Porque tú desechaste la sabiduría, yo te echaré del sacerdocio: y pues que olvidaste la ley de tu Dios, también yo me olvidaré de tus hijos.

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you, that you may be no priest to me. Because you have forgotten your God’s law, I will also forget your children.

As they were magnified, so, they sinned against me,—My glory—for what was contemptible, did they exchange.

Conforme á su grandeza así pecaron contra mí: trocaré su honra en afrenta.

As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame.

As they were multiplied, so they sinned against me. I will change their glory into shame.

The sin of my people, they do eat,—and. unto their iniquity, lift they up every man his desire.

Comen del pecado de mi pueblo, y en su maldad levantan su alma.

They eat up the sin of my people, and they set their heart on their iniquity.

They feed on the sin of my people, and set their heart on their iniquity.

So doth it come to be—like people, like priest,—therefore will I visit upon him his ways, and, his doings, will I bring back to him;

Tal será el pueblo como el sacerdote: y visitaré sobre él sus caminos, y pagaréle conforme á sus obras.

And there shall be, like people, like priest: and I will punish them for their ways, and reward them their doings.

It will be like people, like priest; and I will punish them for their ways, and will repay them for their deeds.

And they shall eat, and not be satisfied, they have encouraged unchastity, yet have not been making increase,—for unto, Yahweh, have they left off giving heed:—

Y comerán, mas no se hartarán; fornicarán, mas no se aumentarán: porque dejaron de atender á Jehová.

For they shall eat, and not have enough: they shall commit whoredom, and shall not increase: because they have left off to take heed to the LORD.

They will eat, and not have enough. They will play the prostitute, and will not increase; because they have abandoned listening to the LORD.

Unchastity, and wine, and new wine, take away the heart.

Fornicación, y vino, y mosto quitan el corazón.

Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the heart.

Prostitution, wine, and new wine take away understanding.

My people, of their Wood, do ask,—Let, their Staff, then tell them,—for, the spirit of unchastity, hath led them astray, and they have unchastely departed from under their God.

Mi pueblo á su madero pregunta, y su palo le responde: porque espíritu de fornicaciones lo engañó, y fornicaron debajo de sus dioses.

My people ask counsel at their stocks, and their staff declareth unto them: for the spirit of whoredoms hath caused them to err, and they have gone a whoring from under their God.

My people consult with their wooden idol, and answer to a stick of wood. Indeed the spirit of prostitution has led them astray, and they have been unfaithful to their God.

On the headlands of the mountains, they sacrifice, and, on the hills, burn they incense, under oak and poplar and terebinth, because, pleasant, is the shade thereof: For this cause, do your daughters, become unchaste, and, your brides, commit adultery.

Sobre las cabezas de los montes sacrificaron, é incensaron sobre los collados, debajo de encinas, y álamos, y olmos que tuviesen buena sombra: por tanto, vuestras hijas fornicarán, y adulterarán vuestras nueras.

They sacrifice upon the tops of the mountains, and burn incense upon the hills, under oaks and poplars and elms, because the shadow thereof is good: therefore your daughters shall commit whoredom, and your spouses shall commit adultery.

They sacrifice on the tops of the mountains, and burn incense on the hills, under oaks, poplars, and terebinths, because its shade is good. Therefore your daughters play the prostitute, and your brides commit adultery.

I do not bring punishment upon your daughters when they become unchaste, nor upon your brides, when they commit adultery, for, the men themselves, with unchaste women, do seclude themselves, and, with the common women of the shrine, do offer sacrifice,—and, a people who will not discern, must be ruined.

No visitaré sobre vuestras hijas cuando fornicaren, ni sobre vuestras nueras cuando adulteraren: porque ellos ofrecen con las rameras, y con las malas mujeres sacrifican: por tanto, el pueblo sin entendimiento caerá.

I will not punish your daughters when they commit whoredom, nor your spouses when they commit adultery: for themselves are separated with whores, and they sacrifice with harlots: therefore the people that doth not understand shall fall.

I will not punish your daughters when they play the prostitute, nor your brides when they commit adultery; because the men consort with prostitutes, and they sacrifice with the shrine prostitutes; so the people without understanding will come to ruin.

Though unchaste art thou, O Israel, let not Judah, become guilty, neither let them enter Gilgal, nor go up to Beth-aven, and †then swear, By the life of Yahweh!

Si fornicares tú, Israel, á lo menos no peque Judá: y no entréis en Gilgal, ni subáis á Beth-aven; ni juréis, Vive Jehová.

Though thou, Israel, play the harlot, yet let not Judah offend; and come not ye unto Gilgal, neither go ye up to Beth-aven, nor swear, The LORD liveth.

“Though you, Israel, play the prostitute, yet don’t let Judah offend; and don’t come to Gilgal, neither go up to Beth Aven, nor swear, ‘As the LORD lives.’

For, as a heifer that is stubborn, hath Israel, been stubborn,—Now, can Yahweh, turn them out to pasture, like a young ram in a wide place?

Porque como becerra cerrera se apartó Israel: ¿apacentarálos ahora Jehová como á carneros en anchura?

For Israel slideth back as a backsliding heifer: now the LORD will feed them as a lamb in a large place.

For Israel has behaved extremely stubbornly, like a stubborn heifer. Then how will the LORD feed them like a lamb in a meadow?

Mated with idols, is Ephraim, let him alone.

Ephraim es dado á ídolos; déjalo.

Ephraim is joined to idols: let him alone.

Ephraim is joined to idols. Leave him alone!

Their drinking-bout, having passed,—they became, unchaste, they loved wildly, a contempt, became her great men.

Su bebida se corrompió; fornicaron pertinazmente: sus príncipes amaron las dádivas, afrenta de ellos.

Their drink is sour: they have committed whoredom continually: her rulers with shame do love, Give ye.

Their drink has become sour. They play the prostitute continually. Her rulers dearly love their shameful way.

The wind hath bound her up in its wings,—that they may be ashamed, because of their sacrifices.

Atóla el viento en sus alas, y de sus sacrificios serán avergonzados.

The wind has wrapped her up in its wings; and they shall be disappointed because of their sacrifices.
