Oseas 2

Say ye unto your brethren, O Ammi †="O my people", and unto your sisters, O Ruhamah †="O compassionated one":

DECID á vuestros hermanos, Ammi, y á vuestras hermanas, Ruhama:

Say ye unto your brethren, Ammi; and to your sisters, Ru-hamah.

“Say to your brothers, ‘My people!’ and to your sisters, ‘My loved one!’

Contend ye with your mother, contend, for she is no wife of mine, and I am no husband of hers, Let her then put away her paramours from before her, and her partners in adultery, from her embraces:

Pleitead con vuestra madre, pleitead; porque ella no es mi mujer, ni yo su marido; quite pues sus fornicaciones de su rostro, y sus adulterios de entre sus pechos;

Plead with your mother, plead: for she is not my wife, neither am I her husband: let her therefore put away her whoredoms out of her sight, and her adulteries from between her breasts;

Contend with your mother! Contend, for she is not my wife, neither am I her husband; and let her put away her prostitution from her face, and her adulteries from between her breasts;

Lest I strip off her under-clothing, and set her forth to view, as in the day she was born,—and make her like a wilderness, and render her like a land that is parched, and suffer her to die of thirst;

For their mother, hath been unchaste, and she that conceived them, hath caused shame,—for she said, Let me go after my lovers! who used to give my bread, and my water, my wool, and my flax, mine oil, and my drink.

Porque su madre fornicó; la que los engendró fué avergonzada; porque dijo: Iré tras mis amantes, que me dan mi pan y mi agua, mi lana y mi lino, mi aceite y mi bebida.

For their mother hath played the harlot: she that conceived them hath done shamefully: for she said, I will go after my lovers, that give me my bread and my water, my wool and my flax, mine oil and my drink.

For their mother has played the prostitute. She who conceived them has done shamefully; for she said, ‘I will go after my lovers, who give me my bread and my water, my wool and my flax, my oil and my drink.’

Therefore, behold me! hedging up her way, with thorns,—and I will wall her in, and, her footpaths, shall she not find.

And, when she shall pursue her lovers, and not overtake them, and shall seek them and not find, then will she say, Let me go my way now! and return unto my first husband, for it was better with me, then, than, now!

Y seguirá sus amantes, y no los alcanzará; buscarálos, y no los hallará. Entonces dirá: Iré, y volveréme á mi primer marido; porque mejor me iba entonces que ahora.

And she shall follow after her lovers, but she shall not overtake them; and she shall seek them, but shall not find them: then shall she say, I will go and return to my first husband; for then was it better with me than now.

She will follow after her lovers, but she won’t overtake them; and she will seek them, but won’t find them. Then she will say, ‘I will go and return to my first husband, for then it was better with me than now.’

But, she, owneth not, that, I, gave her—the corn, and the new wine and the oil,—silver, also increased I unto her, and gold—†which they offered to Baal!

Y ella no reconoció que yo le daba el trigo, y el vino, y el aceite, y que les multipliqué la plata y el oro con que hicieron á Baal.

For she did not know that I gave her corn, and wine, and oil, and multiplied her silver and gold, which they prepared for Baal.

For she didn’t know that I gave her the grain, the new wine, and the oil, and multiplied to her silver and gold, which they used for Baal.

Therefore, will I again take away my corn, in the time thereof, and my new wine, in the season thereof,—and will recover my wool and my flax †given to hide her shame.

Por tanto yo tornaré, y tomaré mi trigo á su tiempo, y mi vino á su sazón, y quitaré mi lana y mi lino que había dado para cubrir su desnudez.

Therefore will I return, and take away my corn in the time thereof, and my wine in the season thereof, and will recover my wool and my flax given to cover her nakedness.

Therefore I will take back my grain in its time, and my new wine in its season, and will pluck away my wool and my flax which should have covered her nakedness.

Now, therefore, will I expose her unseemliness, before the eyes of her lovers,—and no, man, shall deliver her out of my hand!

Y ahora descubriré yo su locura delante de los ojos de sus amantes, y nadie la librará de mi mano.

And now will I discover her lewdness in the sight of her lovers, and none shall deliver her out of mine hand.

And I will cause to cease all her mirth, her pilgrim-festival, her new moon and her sabbath,—and her every appointed meeting;

Y haré cesar todo su gozo, sus fiestas, sus nuevas lunas y sus sábados, y todas sus festividades.

I will also cause all her mirth to cease, her feast days, her new moons, and her sabbaths, and all her solemn feasts.

I will also cause all her celebrations to cease: her feasts, her new moons, her Sabbaths, and all her solemn assemblies.

And will lay waste her vine and her fig- tree, as to which she hath said, A present, are they for myself, which my lovers, have given me,—and I will make of them a thicket, and the wild beasts of the field shall devour them.

Y haré talar sus vides y sus higueras, de que ha dicho: Mi salario me son, que me han dado mis amantes. Y reducirélas á un matorral, y las comerán las bestias del campo.

And I will destroy her vines and her fig trees, whereof she hath said, These are my rewards that my lovers have given me: and I will make them a forest, and the beasts of the field shall eat them.

I will lay waste her vines and her fig trees, about which she has said, ‘These are my wages that my lovers have given me,’ and I will make them a forest, and the animals of the field shall eat them.

So will I visit upon her the days of the Baals, unto whom she used to burn incense, and decked herself with her nose-ring and her jewelry, and went her way after her lovers,—whereas, me, she forgat, Declareth Yahweh.

Y visitaré sobre ella los tiempos de los Baales, á los cuales incensaba, y adornábase de sus zarcillos y de sus joyeles, é íbase tras sus amantes olvidada de mí, dice Jehová.

And I will visit upon her the days of Baalim, wherein she burned incense to them, and she decked herself with her earrings and her jewels, and she went after her lovers, and forgat me, saith the LORD.

Therefore, lo! I, am going to persuade her, and, though I conduct her forth into wilderness, yet will I speak unto her heart.

Therefore, behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak comfortably unto her.

Then will I give to her her vineyards from thence, and the vale of Achor †="trouble" for a door of hope,—and she will respond there, as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt.

And I will give her her vineyards from thence, and the valley of Achor for a door of hope: and she shall sing there, as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt.

And it shall come to pass, in that day, Declareth Yahweh, that she will call me Ishi †="My husband", and will not call me any more, Baali †="Mine owner".

Y será que en aquel tiempo, dice Jehová, me llamarás Marido mío, y nunca más me llamarás Baali.

And it shall be at that day, saith the LORD, that thou shalt call me Ishi; and shalt call me no more Baali.

It will be in that day,” says the LORD, “that you will call me ‘my husband,’ and no longer call me ‘my master.’

So will I take away the names of the Baals, out of her mouth,—and they shall not be called to mind any more, by their name.

For I will take away the names of Baalim out of her mouth, and they shall no more be remembered by their name.

And I will solemnize to them a covenant, in that day, with the wild-beast of the field, and with the bird of the heavens, and the creeping thing of the ground,—and, bow and sword and battle, will I break in pieces out of the land, so will I cause them to lie down, in security.

Y haré por ellos concierto en aquel tiempo con las bestias del campo, y con las aves del cielo, y con las serpientes de la tierra: y quebraré arco, y espada, y batalla de la tierra, y harélos dormir seguros.

And in that day will I make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven, and with the creeping things of the ground: and I will break the bow and the sword and the battle out of the earth, and will make them to lie down safely.

And I will take thee unto myself, unto times age-abiding,—yea I will take thee unto myself, in righteousness and in justice, and in lovingkindness, and in abounding compassion:

Y te desposaré conmigo para siempre; desposarte he conmigo en justicia, y juicio, y misericordia, y miseraciones.

And I will betroth thee unto me for ever; yea, I will betroth thee unto me in righteousness, and in judgment, and in lovingkindness, and in mercies.

I will betroth you to me forever. Yes, I will betroth you to me in righteousness, in justice, in loving kindness, and in compassion.

Yea I will take thee unto myself, in faithfulness,—So shalt thou know Yahweh.

Y te desposaré conmigo en fe, y conocerás á Jehová.

I will even betroth thee unto me in faithfulness: and thou shalt know the LORD.

I will even betroth you to me in faithfulness; and you shall know the LORD.

And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will respond, Declareth Yahweh, I will respond to the heavens,—and, they, shall respond to the earth;

Y será que en aquel tiempo responderé, dice Jehová, yo responderé á los cielos, y ellos responderán á la tierra;

And it shall come to pass in that day, I will hear, saith the LORD, I will hear the heavens, and they shall hear the earth;

It will happen in that day, that I will respond,” says the LORD. “I will respond to the heavens, and they will respond to the earth;

And, the earth, shall respond to the corn, and to the new wine and to the oil,—and, they, shall respond to Jezreel †="Whom GOD scattereth," "Whom GOD soweth".

Y la tierra responderá al trigo, y al vino, y al aceite, y ellos responderán á Jezreel.

And the earth shall hear the corn, and the wine, and the oil; and they shall hear Jezreel.

and the earth will respond to the grain, and the new wine, and the oil; and they will respond to Jezreel.

So will I sow her unto me in the land, and will have compassion upon the uncompassionated one †="Lo-ruhamah",—and will say to him who was No-people-of-mine †="Lo-ammi", My people, thou art, and, he, shall say, My God!

Y sembraréla para mí en la tierra, y tendré misericordia de Lo-ruhama: y diré á Lo-ammi: Pueblo mío tú; y él dirá: Dios mío.

And I will sow her unto me in the earth; and I will have mercy upon her that had not obtained mercy; and I will say to them which were not my people, Thou art my people; and they shall say, Thou art my God.

I will sow her to me in the earth; and I will have mercy on her who had not obtained mercy; and I will tell those who were not my people, ‘You are my people;’ and they will say, ‘You are My God!’”
