1Samaria muß es büßen, daß es gegen seinen Gott widerspenstig war; durch das Schwert sollen sie fallen, die zarten Kinder sollen zerschmettert, die Schwangeren aufgeschlitzt werden.
2Kehre um, o Israel, zu Jahwe, deinem Gott! Denn durch deine Verschuldung kamst du zu Fall.
3Nehmt reuige Worte mit euch und kehrt damit um zu Jahwe! Sprecht zu ihm: Verzeihe doch ganz und gar die Schuld und greife zur Güte, so wollen wir dir als Farren die Gelübde unserer Lippen entrichten:
4“Wir wollen nicht mehr unsere Zuflucht zu Assur nehmen, wollen nicht mehr auf Rossen reiten und ferner nicht mehr “unser Gott” sagen zum Machwerk unserer Hände; denn bei dir finden die Verwaisten Erbarmen!”
5Ich will die Folgen ihres Abfalls wieder gut machen, aus freien Stücken ihnen Liebe erzeigen, denn mein Zorn hast sich von ihnen gewandt.
6Ich will wie ein Tau für Israel werden: es soll blühen wie eine Lilie und Wurzel schlagen wie der Wald des Libanon.
7Seine Schößlinge sollen wuchern; seine Krone soll der des Ölbaums gleichen und sein Duft dem des Libanon.
8Die in seinem Schatten wohnen, sollen dann wieder Getreide erzielen und blühen wie der Weinstock: Sein Ruhm soll werden wie der des Weins vom Libanon.
9O Ephraim! Was gehen ich und die Götzen in Zukunft uns an? Ich allein will ihm willfahren und es im Auge haben; ich bin wie eine grünende Cypresse! Als mein Werk sollen deine Früchte sich erweisen!
10Wer ist weise, daß er dieses einsehe, und verständig, daß er es erkenne? Ja, gerade sind Jahwes Wege! Die Frommen wandeln sicher darauf, aber die Abtrünnigen kommen auf ihnen zu Fall.

1CONVIÉRTETE, oh Israel, á Jehová tu Dios: porque por tu pecado has caído.
2Tomad con vosotros palabras, y convertíos á Jehová, y decidle: Quita toda iniquidad, y acepta el bien, y daremos becerros de nuestros labios.
3No nos librará Assur; no subiremos sobre caballos, ni nunca más diremos á la obra de nuestras manos: Dioses nuestros: porque en ti el huérfano alcanzará misericordia.
4Yo medicinaré su rebelión, amarélos de voluntad: porque mi furor se apartó de ellos.
5Yo seré á Israel como rocío; él florecerá como lirio, y extenderá sus raíces como el Líbano.
6Extenderse han sus ramos, y será su gloria como la de la oliva, y olerá como el Líbano.
7Volverán, y se sentarán bajo de su sombra: serán vivificados como trigo, y florecerán como la vid: su olor, como de vino del Líbano.
8Ephraim dirá: ¿Qué más tendré ya con los ídolos? Yo lo oiré, y miraré; yo seré á él como la haya verde: de mí será hallado tu fruto.
9¿Quién es sabio para que entienda esto, y prudente para que lo sepa? Porque los caminos de Jehová son derechos, y los justos andarán por ellos: mas los rebeldes en ellos caerán.

1O Israel, return unto the LORD thy God; for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity.
2Take with you words, and turn to the LORD: say unto him, Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: so will we render the calves of our lips.
3Asshur shall not save us; we will not ride upon horses: neither will we say any more to the work of our hands, Ye are our gods: for in thee the fatherless findeth mercy.
4I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely: for mine anger is turned away from him.
5I will be as the dew unto Israel: he shall grow as the lily, and cast forth his roots as Lebanon.
6His branches shall spread, and his beauty shall be as the olive tree, and his smell as Lebanon.
7They that dwell under his shadow shall return; they shall revive as the corn, and grow as the vine: the scent thereof shall be as the wine of Lebanon.
8Ephraim shall say, What have I to do any more with idols? I have heard him, and observed him: I am like a green fir tree. From me is thy fruit found.
9Who is wise, and he shall understand these things? prudent, and he shall know them? for the ways of the LORD are right, and the just shall walk in them: but the transgressors shall fall therein.

1Israel, return to the LORD your God; for you have fallen because of your sin.
2Take words with you, and return to the LORD. Tell him, “Forgive all our sins, and accept that which is good; so we offer bulls as we vowed of our lips.
3Assyria can’t save us. We won’t ride on horses; neither will we say any more to the work of our hands, ‘Our gods!’ for in you the fatherless finds mercy.”
4“I will heal their waywardness. I will love them freely; for my anger is turned away from them.
5I will be like the dew to Israel. He will blossom like the lily, and send down his roots like Lebanon.
6His branches will spread, and his beauty will be like the olive tree, and his fragrance like Lebanon.
7Men will dwell in his shade. They will revive like the grain, and blossom like the vine. Their fragrance will be like the wine of Lebanon.
8Ephraim, what have I to do any more with idols? I answer, and will take care of him. I am like a green cypress tree; from me your fruit is found.”
9Who is wise, that he may understand these things? Who is prudent, that he may know them? For the ways of the LORD are right, and the righteous walk in them, but the rebellious stumble in them.
