Oseas 12

1Efraín se apacienta del viento, y confiando en Egipto respira el aire ardiente. Todo el día está aumentando sus falsedades y las causas de su perdición, se ha confederado con los asirios y ha llevado sus excelentes aceites a Egipto.
2Vendrá, pues, el Señor a vigilar la conducta de Judá, y a castigar a Jacob , y le dará el pago que merecen sus obras y sus vanos caprichos.
3Jacob en el seno materno cogió por el calcañar a su hermano; y con su fortaleza luchó con el ángel.
4Y prevaleció sobre él, y lo venció, y con lágrimas se encomendó a dicho ángel del Señor. En Betel fue donde tuvo este feliz encuentro, y allí habló el Señor con nosotros.
5Y al Señor, que es el Dios de los ejércitos, al Señor tuvo siempre presente Jacob en su memoria.
6¡Ea pues!, conviértete tú al Dios tuyo, observa la misericordia y la justicia; y confía siempre en tu Dios.
7Mas este cananeo tiene en sus manos una balanza engañosa, él se complace en estafar al prójimo.
8Efraín está diciendo: Ello es que yo me he hecho rico; he adquirido para mí el ídolo de las riquezas; en todos mis afanes no se hallará que yo haya cometido injusticia alguna.
9Pero no obstante yo me acuerdo que soy el Señor Dios tuyo desde que te saqué de la tierra de Egipto; aun te dejaré reposar en tus moradas como en los días de aquella solemnidad de los Tabernáculos.
10Yo soy el que te habló por los profetas, haciéndoles ver muchas cosas venideras; y por medio de los profetas me descubrí a vosotros.
11Si aquello de Galaad es un ídolo, luego en vano se inmolaban bueyes en Galgal; y en efecto, ya sus altares son como los montones de piedras cerca de los surcos del campo.
12Huyó Jacob a tierra de Siria, Israel sirvió a Labán por adquirir una esposa, y por adquirir otra sirvió de pastor.
13Después el Señor por medio de un profeta sacó a Israel de Egipto, y por medio de otro profeta lo salvó.
14Efraín, no obstante eso, con acerbos disgustos ha provocado mi enojo, sobre él hará recaer su Señor la sangre derramada, y le daré la paga de los insultos que le ha hecho.

1CERCÓME Ephraim con mentira, y la casa de Israel con engaño: mas Judá aun domina con Dios, y es fiel con los santos.
2Ephraim se apacienta del viento, y sigue al solano: mentira y destrucción aumenta continuamente; porque hicieron alianza con los Asirios, y aceite se lleva á Egipto.
3Pleito tiene Jehová con Judá para visitar á Jacob conforme á sus caminos: pagarále conforme á sus obras.
4En el vientre tomó por el calcañar á su hermano, y con su fortaleza venció al ángel.
5Venció al ángel, y prevaleció; lloró, y rogóle: en Beth-el le halló, y allí habló con nosotros.
6Mas Jehová es Dios de los ejércitos: Jehová es su memorial.
7Tú pues, conviértete á tu Dios: guarda misericordia y juicio, y en tu Dios espera siempre.
8Es mercader que tiene en su mano peso falso, amador de opresión.
9Y dijo Ephraim: Ciertamente yo he enriquecido, hallado he riquezas para mí: nadie hallará en mí iniquidad, ni pecado en todos mis trabajos.
10Empero yo soy Jehová tu Dios desde la tierra de Egipto: aun te haré morar en tiendas, como en los días de la fiesta.
11Y hablado he á los profetas, y yo aumenté la profecía, y por mano de los profetas puse semejanzas.
12¿Es Galaad iniquidad? Ciertamente vanidad han sido: en Gilgal sacrificaron bueyes: y aun son sus altares como montones en los surcos del campo.
13Mas Jacob huyó á tierra de Aram, y sirvió Israel por mujer, y por mujer fué pastor.
14Y por profeta hizo subir Jehová á Israel de Egipto, y por profeta fué guardado. Enojado ha Ephraim á Dios con amarguras; por tanto, sus sangres se derramarán sobre él, y su Señor le pagará su oprobio.
King James Version
1Ephraim feedeth on wind, and followeth after the east wind: he daily increaseth lies and desolation; and they do make a covenant with the Assyrians, and oil is carried into Egypt.
2The LORD hath also a controversy with Judah, and will punish Jacob according to his ways; according to his doings will he recompense him.
3He took his brother by the heel in the womb, and by his strength he had power with God:
4Yea, he had power over the angel, and prevailed: he wept, and made supplication unto him: he found him in Beth-el, and there he spake with us;
5Even the LORD God of hosts; the LORD is his memorial.
6Therefore turn thou to thy God: keep mercy and judgment, and wait on thy God continually.
7He is a merchant, the balances of deceit are in his hand: he loveth to oppress.
8And Ephraim said, Yet I am become rich, I have found me out substance: in all my labours they shall find none iniquity in me that were sin.
9And I that am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt will yet make thee to dwell in tabernacles, as in the days of the solemn feast.
10I have also spoken by the prophets, and I have multiplied visions, and used similitudes, by the ministry of the prophets.
11Is there iniquity in Gilead? surely they are vanity: they sacrifice bullocks in Gilgal; yea, their altars are as heaps in the furrows of the fields.
12And Jacob fled into the country of Syria, and Israel served for a wife, and for a wife he kept sheep.
13And by a prophet the LORD brought Israel out of Egypt, and by a prophet was he preserved.
14Ephraim provoked him to anger most bitterly: therefore shall he leave his blood upon him, and his reproach shall his Lord return unto him.

1Ephraim feeds on wind, and chases the east wind. He continually multiplies lies and desolation. They make a covenant with Assyria, and oil is carried into Egypt.
2The LORD also has a controversy with Judah, and will punish Jacob according to his ways; according to his deeds he will repay him.
3In the womb he took his brother by the heel, and in his manhood he contended with God.
4Indeed, he struggled with the angel, and prevailed; he wept, and made supplication to him. He found him at Bethel, and there he spoke with us—
5even the LORD, the God of Armies. The LORD is his name of renown!
6Therefore turn to your God. Keep kindness and justice, and wait continually for your God.
7A merchant has dishonest scales in his hand. He loves to defraud.
8Ephraim said, “Surely I have become rich. I have found myself wealth. In all my wealth they won’t find in me any iniquity that is sin.”
9“But I am the LORD your God from the land of Egypt. I will yet again make you dwell in tents, as in the days of the solemn feast.
10I have also spoken to the prophets, and I have multiplied visions; and by the ministry of the prophets I have used parables.
11If Gilead is wicked, surely they are worthless. In Gilgal they sacrifice bulls. Indeed, their altars are like heaps in the furrows of the field.
12Jacob fled into the country of Aram. Israel served to get a wife. For a wife he tended flocks and herds.
13By a prophet the LORD brought Israel up out of Egypt, and by a prophet he was preserved.
14Ephraim has bitterly provoked anger. Therefore his blood will be left on him, and his Lord will repay his contempt.
