Per la qual cosa intermettendo di discorrere de' rudimenti di Cristo, avanziamoci a quel, che havvi di più perfetto, senza gettare di bel nuovo il fondamento della conversione dalle opere di morte, e della fede in Dio,
POR tanto, dejando la palabra del comienzo en la doctrina de Cristo, vamos adelante á la perfección; no echando otra vez el fundamento del arrepentimiento de obras muertas, y de la fe en Dios,
Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

Della dottrina de' battesimi, della imposizione ancor delle mani, e della risurrezione de' morti, e dell'eterno giudizio.
De la doctrina de bautismos, y de la imposición de manos, y de la resurrección de los muertos, y del juicio eterno.

Imperocché è impossibile, che coloro, i quali sono stati una volta illuminati, hanno anche gustato il dono celeste, e sono stati fatti partecipi dello Spirito santo,

Imperocché la terra, che beve la pioggia, che frequentemente le cade in grembo, ed utili erbe genera a chi la coltiva, riceve benedizione da Dio:

For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God:

Ma se delle spine produce, è de' triboli, ella è riprovata, e prossima a maledizione: il fine di cui si è di essere abbruciata.
Mas la que produce espinas y abrojos, es reprobada, y cercana de maldición; cuyo fin será el ser abrasada.
But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned.

Imperocché non è Dio ingiusto, onde si dimentichi dell'opera vostra, e della carità, che dimostrata avete pel nome di lui, nell'aver servito ai santi, e nel servirgli.

For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.

Ma desideriamo, che ognuno di voi la stessa sollecitudine dimostri, affin di rendere compiuta la speranza sino alla fine,
Mas deseamos que cada uno de vosotros muestre la misma solicitud hasta el cabo, para cumplimiento de la esperanza:
And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end:

Affinchè non diventiate pigri, ma imitatori di coloro, i quali mediante la fede, e la pazienza sono eredi delle promesse.
Que no os hagáis perezosos, mas imitadores de aquellos que por la fe y la paciencia heredan las promesas.
That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

Imperocché Dio facendo promessa ad Abramo, perché nissuno aveva più grande, per cui giurare, giurò per se medesimo.

Conciossiaché gli uomini giurano per chi è maggiore di loro: e di qualunque controversia è fine per essi il giuramento di confermazione.
Porque los hombres ciertamente por el mayor que ellos juran: y el fin de todas sus controversias es el juramento para confirmación.
For men verily swear by the greater: and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife.

Per la qual cosa volendo Dio abbondare nel far conoscere agli eredi della promessa l'immutabilità del suo consiglio, vi pose di mezzo il giuramento:
Por lo cual, queriendo Dios mostrar más abundantemente á los herederos de la promesa la inmutabilidad de su consejo, interpuso juramento;

Affinchè per mezzo di due cose immutabili, nelle quali non è possibile, che Dio mentisca, una consolazione fortissima abbiamo noi, i quali abbiamo presa la corsa per afferrare la speranza proposta:
Para que por dos cosas inmutables, en las cuales es imposible que Dios mienta, tengamos un fortísimo consuelo, los que nos acogemos á trabarnos de la esperanza propuesta:

La quale tenghiamo come ancora sicura, e stabile dell'anima, e la quale penetra sino alle parti, che sono dopo il velo:
La cual tenemos como segura y firme ancla del alma, y que entra hasta dentro del velo;
Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;

Dove precursore per noi entrò Gesù, fatto secondo l'ordine di Melchisedech pontefice in eterno. Il sacerdozio di Melchisedech è più eccellente del Levitico, come riconoscesi dall'obblazione delle decime, e dalla benedizione ricevuta da Abramo; onde il sacerdozio di Cristo, che è necessariamente secondo l'ordine di Melchisedech, ed instiuito in perpetuo, e confermato con giuramento, di maggior dignità del sacerdozio levitico, il quale e da lui abolito insieme colla legge.
