1Denn jeder aus Menschen genommene Hohepriester wird für Menschen eingesetzt, zum Dienst vor Gott, um sowohl Gaben darzubringen, als auch Opfer für Sünden.
2Ein solcher kann Nachsicht üben mit den Unwissenden und Irrenden, da er auch selbst mit Schwachheit behaftet ist;
3und ihretwegen muß er, wie für das Volk, so auch für sich selbst, opfern für die Sünden.
4Und keiner nimmt sich selbst die Würde, sondern er wird von Gott berufen, gleichwie Aaron.
5So hat auch Christus sich nicht selbst die hohepriesterliche Würde beigelegt, sondern der, welcher zu ihm sprach: «Du bist mein Sohn; heute habe ich dich gezeugt.»
6Wie er auch an anderer Stelle spricht: «Du bist ein Priester in Ewigkeit nach der Ordnung Melchisedeks.»
7Und er hat in den Tagen seines Fleisches Bitten und Flehen mit starkem Geschrei und Tränen dem dargebracht, der ihn vom Tode retten konnte, und ist auch erhört und befreit worden von dem Zagen.
8Und wiewohl er Sohn war, hat er doch an dem, was er litt, den Gehorsam gelernt;
9und so zur Vollendung gelangt, ist er allen, die ihm gehorchen, der Urheber ewigen Heils geworden,
10von Gott zubenannt: Hoherpriester «nach der Ordnung Melchisedeks».
11Davon haben wir nun viel zu sagen, und solches, was schwer zu erklären ist, weil ihr träge geworden seid zum Hören;
12und obschon ihr der Zeit nach Lehrer sein solltet, habt ihr wieder nötig, daß man euch gewisse Anfangsgründe der Aussprüche Gottes lehre, und seid der Milch bedürftig geworden und nicht fester Speise.
13Denn wer noch Milch genießt, der ist unerfahren im Worte der Gerechtigkeit; denn er ist unmündig.
14Die feste Speise aber ist für die Gereiften, deren Sinne durch Übung geschult sind zur Unterscheidung des Guten und des Bösen.

1PORQUE todo pontífice, tomado de entre los hombres, es constituído á favor de los hombres en lo que á Dios toca, para que ofrezca presentes y sacrificios por los pecados:
2Que se pueda compadecer de los ignorantes y extraviados, pues que él también está rodeado de flaqueza;
3Y por causa de ella debe, como por sí mismo, así también por el pueblo, ofrecer por los pecados.
4Ni nadie toma para sí la honra, sino el que es llamado de Dios, como Aarón.
5Así también Cristo no se glorificó á sí mismo haciéndose Pontífice, mas el que le dijo: Tú eres mi Hijo, yo te he engendrado hoy;
6Como también dice en otro lugar: Tú eres sacerdote eternamente, según el orden de Melchîsedec.
7El cual en los días de su carne, ofreciendo ruegos y súplicas con gran clamor y lágrimas al que le podía librar de la muerte, fué oído por su reverencial miedo.
8Y aunque era Hijo, por lo que padeció aprendió la obediencia;
9Y consumado, vino á ser causa de eterna salud á todos los que le obedecen;
10Nombrado de Dios pontífice según el orden de Melchîsedec.
11Del cual tenemos mucho que decir, y dificultoso de declarar, por cuanto sois flacos para oir.
12Porque debiendo ser ya maestros á causa del tiempo, tenéis necesidad de volver á ser enseñados cuáles sean los primeros rudimentos de las palabras de Dios; y habéis llegado á ser tales que tengáis necesidad de leche, y no de manjar sólido.
13Que cualquiera que participa de la leche, es inhábil para la palabra de la justicia, porque es niño;
14Mas la vianda firme es para los perfectos, para los que por la costumbre tienen los sentidos ejercitados en el discernimiento del bien y del mal.

1For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins:
2Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity.
3And by reason hereof he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins.
4And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron.
5So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee.
6As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
7Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;
8Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;
9And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;
10Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec.
11Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing.
12For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
13For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.
14But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
World English Bible
1For every high priest, being taken from among men, is appointed for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins.
2The high priest can deal gently with those who are ignorant and going astray, because he himself is also surrounded with weakness.
3Because of this, he must offer sacrifices for sins for the people, as well as for himself.
4Nobody takes this honor on himself, but he is called by God, just like Aaron was.
5So also Christ didn’t glorify himself to be made a high priest, but it was he who said to him, “You are my Son. Today I have become your father.”
6As he says also in another place, “You are a priest forever, after the order of Melchizedek.”
7He, in the days of his flesh, having offered up prayers and petitions with strong crying and tears to him who was able to save him from death, and having been heard for his godly fear,
8though he was a Son, yet learned obedience by the things which he suffered.
9Having been made perfect, he became to all of those who obey him the author of eternal salvation,
10named by God a high priest after the order of Melchizedek.
11About him we have many words to say, and hard to interpret, seeing you have become dull of hearing.
12For although by this time you should be teachers, you again need to have someone teach you the rudiments of the first principles of the revelations of God. You have come to need milk, and not solid food.
13For everyone who lives on milk is not experienced in the word of righteousness, for he is a baby.
14But solid food is for those who are full grown, who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern good and evil.
