1Portanto, precisamos prestar muita atenção às verdades que temos ouvido, senão podemos nos desviar delas.
2Porque, se é certo que as mensagens vindas dos anjos sempre têm se mostrado verdadeiras, e o povo tem sido sempre castigado por lhes desobedecer,
3que é que nos leva a pensar que podemos escapar, se formos indiferentes a essa grande salvação anunciada pelo próprio Senhor Jesus, e que nos foi transmitida por aqueles que o ouviram falar?
4Deus sempre tem nos mostrado que estas mensagens são verdadeiras, por meio de sinais, maravilhas e diferentes milagres, e concedendo certos dons especiais da parte do Espírito Santo àqueles que creem, de acordo com a sua vontade.
5E o mundo futuro a respeito do qual estamos falando não será dirigido por anjos,
6porque em certo lugar das Escrituras alguém diz: “Que é o homem, para que o Senhor se preocupe tanto com ele? E quem é este Filho do homem para que o honre tão magnificamente?
7Porque embora o tivesse feito, durante pouco tempo, menos do que os anjos, agora o coroou de glória e de honra.
8E o colocou como responsável absoluto por tudo quanto existe. Não fica nada fora do seu domínio”. Ainda não vimos tudo isso acontecer,
9mas vemos, sim, Jesus — que por um momento foi feito menor do que os anjos — coroado agora por Deus, com glória e honra, porque ele sofreu a morte por nós. Ora, pela graça de Deus, Jesus provou a morte por todas as pessoas.
10E era justo e conveniente que Deus, de quem tudo provém e por meio de quem tudo existe, permitisse que Jesus sofresse, porque ao fazê-lo ele estava levando filhos à glória; porquanto por meio do sofrimento Jesus tornou-se perfeito como autor da salvação deles.
11Ora, tanto aquele que santifica quanto os que são santificados têm agora o mesmo Pai. É por isso que Jesus não se envergonha de nos chamar seus irmãos.
12Porque ele diz: “Falarei aos meus irmãos do seu nome e cantaremos seus louvores na reunião do povo”.
13Noutra ocasião ele disse: “Porei minha confiança em Deus”. E ainda numa outra vez: “Vejam, aqui estou com os filhos que Deus me deu”.
14Visto que nós, os filhos, somos seres humanos, feitos de carne e sangue, ele se tornou carne e sangue também pelo nascimento em forma humana; pois somente como ser humano ele poderia morrer, e morrendo derrotar o poder do diabo, que tinha o poder da morte.
15Só dessa maneira é que ele poderia libertar aqueles que durante a vida toda estiveram escravizados pelo medo da morte.
16Todos nós sabemos que ele não veio socorrer anjos, mas sim os descendentes de Abraão.
17E era necessário que Jesus fosse como nós, os seus irmãos, a fim de que ele pudesse ser, diante de Deus, o nosso sumo sacerdote, misericordioso e fiel, para perdoar os pecados do povo.
18Pois visto que ele próprio agora já passou pelo sofrimento e pela tentação, quando sofremos e somos tentados, ele sabe como é isso, e assim é capaz de nos ajudar.

1POR tanto, es menester que con más diligencia atendamos á las cosas que hemos oído, porque acaso no nos escurramos.
2Porque si la palabra dicha por los ángeles fué firme, y toda rebelión y desobediencia recibió justa paga de retribución,
3¿Cómo escaparemos nosotros, si tuviéremos en poco una salud tan grande? La cual, habiendo comenzado á ser publicada por el Señor, ha sido confirmada hasta nosotros por los que oyeron;
4Testificando juntamente con ellos Dios, con señales y milagros, y diversas maravillas, y repartimientos del Espíritu Santo según su voluntad.
5Porque no sujetó á los ángeles el mundo venidero, del cual hablamos.
6Testificó empero uno en cierto lugar, diciendo: ¿Qué es el hombre, que te acuerdas de él? ¿ó el hijo del hombre, que le visitas?
7Tú le hiciste un poco menor que los ángeles, coronástele de gloria y de honra, y pusístele sobre las obras de tus manos;
8Todas las cosas sujetaste debajo de sus pies. Porque en cuanto le sujetó todas las cosas, nada dejó que no sea sujeto á él; mas aun no vemos que todas las cosas le sean sujetas.
9Empero vemos coronado de gloria y de honra, por el padecimiento de muerte, á aquel Jesús que es hecho un poco menor que los ángeles, para que por gracia de Dios gustase la muerte por todos.
10Porque convenía que aquel por cuya causa son todas las cosas, y por el cual todas las cosas subsisten, habiendo de llevar á la gloria á muchos hijos, hiciese consumado por aflicciones al autor de la salud de ellos.
11Porque el que santifica y los que son santificados, de uno son todos: por lo cual no se avergüenza de llamarlos hermanos,
12Diciendo: Anunciaré á mis hermanos tu nombre, en medio de la congregación te alabaré.
13Y otra vez: Yo confiaré en él. Y otra vez: He aquí, yo y los hijos que me dió Dios.
14Así que, por cuanto los hijos participaron de carne y sangre, él también participó de lo mismo, para destruir por la muerte al que tenía el imperio de la muerte, es á saber, al diablo,
15Y librar á los que por el temor de la muerte estaban por toda la vida sujetos á servidumbre.
16Porque ciertamente no tomó á los ángeles, sino á la simiente de Abraham tomó.
17Por lo cual, debía ser en todo semejante á los hermanos, para venir á ser misericordioso y fiel Pontífice en lo que es para con Dios, para expiar los pecados del pueblo.
18Porque en cuanto él mismo padeció siendo tentado, es poderoso para socorrer á los que son tentados.

1Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.
2For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;
3How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;
4God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?
5For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak.
6But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him?
7Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands:
8Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.
9But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
10For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.
11For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,
12Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee.
13And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given me.
14Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
15And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
16For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.
17Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.
18For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.

1Therefore we ought to pay greater attention to the things that were heard, lest perhaps we drift away.
2For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just penalty,
3how will we escape if we neglect so great a salvation—which at the first having been spoken through the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard,
4God also testifying with them, both by signs and wonders, by various works of power, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to his own will?
5For he didn’t subject the world to come, of which we speak, to angels.
6But one has somewhere testified, saying, “What is man, that you think of him? Or the son of man, that you care for him?
7You made him a little lower than the angels. You crowned him with glory and honor.
8You have put all things in subjection under his feet.” For in that he subjected all things to him, he left nothing that is not subject to him. But now we don’t yet see all things subjected to him.
9But we see him who has been made a little lower than the angels, Jesus, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that by the grace of God he should taste of death for everyone.
10For it became him, for whom are all things and through whom are all things, in bringing many children to glory, to make the author of their salvation perfect through sufferings.
11For both he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all from one, for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brothers,
12saying, “I will declare your name to my brothers. Among the congregation I will sing your praise.”
13Again, “I will put my trust in him.” Again, “Behold, here I am with the children whom God has given me.”
14Since then the children have shared in flesh and blood, he also himself in the same way partook of the same, that through death he might bring to nothing him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,
15and might deliver all of them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
16For most certainly, he doesn’t give help to angels, but he gives help to the offspring of Abraham.
17Therefore he was obligated in all things to be made like his brothers, that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make atonement for the sins of the people.
18For in that he himself has suffered being tempted, he is able to help those who are tempted.
