Per la qual cosa noi pure avendo d'ogni parte sì gran nugolo di testimoni, sgravatici d'ogni incarico, e del peccato, che ci sta d'intorno, corriamo per la pazienza nella carriera, che ci è proposta:
POR tanto nosotros también, teniendo en derredor nuestro una tan grande nube de testigos, dejando todo el peso del pecado que nos rodea, corramos con paciencia la carrera que nos es propuesta,
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

Imperocché ripensate attentamente a colui, che tale contro la sua propria persona sostenne contraddizione da' peccatori: affinchè non vi stanchiate, perdendovi d'animo.
Reducid pues á vuestro pensamiento á aquel que sufrió tal contradicción de pecadores contra sí mismo, porque no os fatiguéis en vuestros ánimos desmayando.
For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

Dappoiché non avete per anco resistito fino al sangue, pugnando contro il peccato:

E vi siete scordati di quella esortazione, la quale a voi parla come a' figliuoli, dicendo: figliuol mio, non trascurare la disciplina del Signore: e non ti venga a noia, quando da lui s'è ripreso.
Y estáis ya olvidados de la exhortación que como con hijos habla con vosotros, diciendo: Hijo mío, no menosprecies el castigo del Señor, ni desmayes cuando eres de él reprendido.
And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:

Imperocché il Signore corregge quei che ama: e usa la sferza con ogni figliuolo, cui riconosce per suo.
Porque el Señor al que ama castiga, y azota á cualquiera que recibe por hijo.
For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

Siate perseveranti sotto la disciplina. Dio si diporta con voi come con figliuoli: imperocché qual è il figliuolo, cui il padre non corregge?
Si sufrís el castigo, Dios se os presenta como á hijos; porque ¿qué hijo es aquel á quien el padre no castiga?
If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?
It is for discipline that you endure. God deals with you as with children, for what son is there whom his father doesn’t discipline?
Che se siete fuori della disciplina, alla quale tutti hanno parte: siete adunque bastardi, e non figliuoli.
Mas si estáis fuera del castigo, del cual todos han sido hechos participantes, luego sois bastardos, y no hijos.
But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.
But if you are without discipline, of which all have been made partakers, then you are illegitimate, and not children.
Di più i padri nostri secondo la carne abbiamo avuti per precettori; e gli abbiam rispettati: e non saremo molto più ubbidienti al padre degli spiriti, per aver vita?
Por otra parte, tuvimos por castigadores á los padres de nuestra carne, y los reverenciábamos, ¿por qué no obedeceremos mucho mejor al Padre de los espíritus, y viviremos?

Imperocché quelli per il tempo di pochi giorni ci facevano i pedagoghi, secondo che lor pareva: ma questi in quello, che giova a divenir partecipi della di lui santità.

For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.

Or qualunque disciplina pel presente non sembra apportatrice di gaudio, ma di tristezza: dopo però, tranquillo frutto di giustizia rende a coloro, che in essa siano stati esercitati.
Es verdad que ningún castigo al presente parece ser causa de gozo, sino de tristeza; mas después da fruto apacible de justicia á los que en él son ejercitados.
Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.
All chastening seems for the present to be not joyous but grievous; yet afterward it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

Cercate la pace con tutti, e la santità, senza di cui nissuno vedrà Dio:

Ponendo mente, che nissuno manchi alla grazia di Dio: che nissuna amara radice spuntando fuora, non rechi danno, e per essa molti restino infetti.
Mirando bien que ninguno se aparte de la gracia de Dios, que ninguna raíz de amargura brotando os impida, y por ella muchos sean contaminados;
Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;

Che non (siavi) alcuno fornicatore, o profano, come Esaù, il quale per una pietanza vendè la sua primogenitura:
Que ninguno sea fornicario, ó profano, como Esaú, que por una vianda vendió su primogenitura.
Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.

Imperocché sapete, come ancor poi bramando di essere erede della benedizione, fu rigettato; conciossiaché non trovò luogo a penitenza, quantunque con lagrime la ricercasse.

E al suon della tromba, e al rimbombo delle parole, per cui que', che l'udirono, domandarono, che non fosse fatta lor più parola.

Imperocché non reggevano a quella intimazione: se anche una bestia toccherà il monte, sarà lapidata.
Porque no podían tolerar lo que se mandaba: Si bestia tocare al monte, será apedreada, ó pasada con dardo.
(For they could not endure that which was commanded, And if so much as a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned, or thrust through with a dart:

Ma vi siete appressati al monte di Sion, e alla città di Dio vivo, alla Gerusalemme celeste, e alla moltitudine di molte migliaja di Angeli,

Badate di non rifiutare colui, che parla. Imperocché se per aver rifiutato colui, che loro parlava sopra la trini, quelli non ebbero scampo: molto più noi, volgendo le spalle a lui, che ci parla dal cielo:
Mirad que no desechéis al que habla. Porque si aquellos no escaparon que desecharon al que hablaba en la tierra, mucho menos nosotros, si desecháramos al que habla de los cielos.
See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven:
See that you don’t refuse him who speaks. For if they didn’t escape when they refused him who warned on the earth, how much more will we not escape who turn away from him who warns from heaven,
La voce del quale scosse allora la terra: e adesso fa promessa, dicendo i ancora una volta; e io sommoverò non solo la terra, ma anche il cielo.
La voz del cual entonces conmovió la tierra; mas ahora ha denunciado, diciendo: Aun una vez, y yo conmoveré no solamente la tierra, mas aun el cielo.
Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.

Or dacché egli dice: ancor una volta: dichiara la traslazione delle cose instabili come fattizie, affinchè quelle rimangano, che sono immobili.
Y esta palabra, Aun una vez, declara la mudanza de las cosas movibles, como de cosas hechas, para que queden las cosas que son firmes.
And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.

Per la qual cosa attenendoci al regno immobile, abbiamo la grazia, per la quale accetti a Dio lo serviamo con timore, e riverenza.
Así que, tomando el reino inmóvil, retengamos la gracia por la cual sirvamos á Dios agradándole con temor y reverencia;
Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:

Imperocché il nostro Dio è un fuoco divoratore. Esortazione alle virtù. Ordina di guardarti dalle dottrine straniere: rammenta l’altare, e le ostie del vecchio, e del nuovo testamento; gli ammonisce, che siano ubbidienti a loro prelati; chiede, che preghino per lui, facendo egli lo stesso per essi: e aggiunge i vicendevoli saluti.
Porque nuestro Dios es fuego consumidor.
