José atirou-se sobre seu pai, chorou sobre ele e o beijou.

ENTONCES se echó José sobre el rostro de su padre, y lloró sobre él, y besólo.

And Joseph fell upon his father’s face, and wept upon him, and kissed him.

Ele deu ordens a seus servos, aos que eram médicos, para embalsamarem seu pai; e os médicos embalsamaram o corpo de Israel.

O processo de embalsamamento levou quarenta dias, que era o prazo normal para isso. Os egípcios choraram a sua morte por setenta dias.

Y cumpliéronle cuarenta días, porque así cumplían los días de los embalsamados, y lloráronlo los Egipcios setenta días.

And forty days were fulfilled for him; for so are fulfilled the days of those which are embalmed: and the Egyptians mourned for him threescore and ten days.

Forty days were used for him, for that is how many days it takes to embalm. The Egyptians wept for Israel for seventy days.

Depois que terminou o período de luto, José falou com a alta corte do faraó: “Peço a bondade de vocês de falarem com o faraó a meu favor, dizendo:

Y pasados los días de su luto, habló José á los de la casa de Faraón, diciendo: Si he hallado ahora gracia en vuestros ojos, os ruego que habléis en oídos de Faraón, diciendo:

And when the days of his mourning were past, Joseph spake unto the house of Pharaoh, saying, If now I have found grace in your eyes, speak, I pray you, in the ears of Pharaoh, saying,

When the days of weeping for him were past, Joseph spoke to Pharaoh’s staff, saying, “If now I have found favor in your eyes, please speak in the ears of Pharaoh, saying,

‘Meu pai me fez jurar o seguinte: Estou perto da morte. Enterre-me na terra de Canaã, no túmulo que preparei para mim. Por favor, deixe-me subir e enterrar meu pai; depois eu voltarei’ ”.

Mi padre me conjuró diciendo: He aquí yo muero; en mi sepulcro que yo cavé para mí en la tierra de Canaán, allí me sepultarás; ruego pues que vaya yo ahora, y sepultaré á mi padre, y volveré.

My father made me swear, saying, Lo, I die: in my grave which I have digged for me in the land of Canaan, there shalt thou bury me. Now therefore let me go up, I pray thee, and bury my father, and I will come again.

‘My father made me swear, saying, “Behold, I am dying. Bury me in my grave which I have dug for myself in the land of Canaan.” Now therefore, please let me go up and bury my father, and I will come again.’”

E o faraó respondeu: “Vá e enterre o seu pai como ele o fez jurar”.

Y Faraón dijo: Ve, y sepulta á tu padre, como él te conjuró.

And Pharaoh said, Go up, and bury thy father, according as he made thee swear.

Pharaoh said, “Go up, and bury your father, just like he made you swear.”

Então José subiu para enterrar o seu pai. Foram com ele todos os oficiais do faraó, os membros mais importantes da sua família e todas as autoridades da terra do Egito.

Entonces José subió á sepultar á su padre; y subieron con él todos los siervos de Faraón, los ancianos de su casa, y todos los ancianos de la tierra de Egipto,

Além deles, foi toda a família de José, seus irmãos e os demais membros da família de seu pai. Somente as crianças, os rebanhos e o gado foram deixados na terra de Gósen.

Também foram com eles homens a cavalo e carruagens. Assim, o cortejo foi muito grande.

Chegando ao campo de beneficiamento de grãos de Atade, a oeste do rio Jordão, choraram muito; e José chorou a morte do pai por sete dias.

Y llegaron hasta la era de Atad, que está á la otra parte del Jordán, y endecharon allí con grande y muy grave lamentación: y José hizo á su padre duelo por siete días.

And they came to the threshingfloor of Atad, which is beyond Jordan, and there they mourned with a great and very sore lamentation: and he made a mourning for his father seven days.

Quando os cananeus, moradores daquela terra, viram o luto em Atade, disseram: “É impressionante o choro desses egípcios!” Por isso, aquele lugar, que fica além do rio Jordão, se chamou Abel-Mizraim.

Y viendo los moradores de la tierra, los Cananeos, el llanto en la era de Atad, dijeron: Llanto grande es este de los Egipcios: por eso fué llamado su nombre Abelmizraim, que está á la otra parte del Jordán.

And when the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, saw the mourning in the floor of Atad, they said, This is a grievous mourning to the Egyptians: wherefore the name of it was called Abel-mizraim, which is beyond Jordan.

Assim, os filhos de Israel fizeram o que ele lhes tinha ordenado.

Levaram-no à terra de Canaã e o enterraram na caverna do campo de Macpela, próximo a Manre. Abraão tinha comprado essa caverna com o campo do heteu Efrom. Ele recebeu a escritura de posse para que fosse usada como cemitério da família.

Pues lleváronlo sus hijos á la tierra de Canaán, y le sepultaron en la cueva del campo de Macpela, la que había comprado Abraham con el mismo campo, para heredad de sepultura, de Ephrón el Hetheo, delante de Mamre.

For his sons carried him into the land of Canaan, and buried him in the cave of the field of Machpelah, which Abraham bought with the field for a possession of a buryingplace of Ephron the Hittite, before Mamre.

Vendo os irmãos de José que seu pai estava morto, disseram: “Agora é possível que José nos persiga e se vingue do mal que fizemos a ele”.

Y viendo los hermanos de José que su padre era muerto, dijeron: Quizá nos aborrecerá José, y nos dará el pago de todo el mal que le hicimos.

And when Joseph’s brethren saw that their father was dead, they said, Joseph will peradventure hate us, and will certainly requite us all the evil which we did unto him.

Por isso mandaram este recado a José: “Antes de morrer, o seu pai deixou uma mensagem a você.

Y enviaron á decir á José: Tu padre mandó antes de su muerte, diciendo:

And they sent a messenger unto Joseph, saying, Thy father did command before he died, saying,

They sent a message to Joseph, saying, “Your father commanded before he died, saying,

A mensagem é esta: ‘Perdoe a maldade de seus irmãos e o pecado que cometeram, com o mal que fizeram a você’. Agora lhe pedimos que perdoe a maldade dos servos do Deus de seu pai”. Enquanto falavam, José chorou.

Así diréis á José: Ruégote que perdones ahora la maldad de tus hermanos y su pecado, porque mal te trataron: por tanto ahora te rogamos que perdones la maldad de los siervos del Dios de tu padre. Y José lloró mientras hablaban.

So shall ye say unto Joseph, Forgive, I pray thee now, the trespass of thy brethren, and their sin; for they did unto thee evil: and now, we pray thee, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of thy father. And Joseph wept when they spake unto him.

‘You shall tell Joseph, “Now please forgive the disobedience of your brothers, and their sin, because they did evil to you.”’ Now, please forgive the disobedience of the servants of the God of your father.” Joseph wept when they spoke to him.

Depois os irmãos foram falar pessoalmente com ele. Ficaram inclinados diante de José e disseram: “Aqui estamos, dispostos a servi-lo como seus escravos”.

Y vinieron también sus hermanos, y postráronse delante de él, y dijeron: Henos aquí por tus siervos.

And his brethren also went and fell down before his face; and they said, Behold, we be thy servants.

José, porém, lhes disse: “Não tenham medo. Por acaso estou no lugar de Deus?

Y respondióles José: No temáis: ¿estoy yo en lugar de Dios?

And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God?

É bem verdade que vocês planejaram o mal contra mim, mas Deus tornou o mal em bem para que hoje fosse preservada a vida de muitas pessoas.

Vosotros pensasteis mal sobre mí, mas Dios lo encaminó á bien, para hacer lo que vemos hoy, para mantener en vida á mucho pueblo.

But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.

As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to save many people alive, as is happening today.

Por isso, não tenham medo. Vou sustentar vocês e seus filhos”. Assim, ele os tranquilizou e lhes falou amavelmente.

Ahora, pues, no tengáis miedo; yo os sustentaré á vosotros y á vuestros hijos. Así los consoló, y les habló al corazón.

Now therefore fear ye not: I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them.

José e toda a família de seu pai ficaram morando no Egito. Ele viveu cento e dez anos.

Y estuvo José en Egipto, él y la casa de su padre: y vivió José ciento diez años.

And Joseph dwelt in Egypt, he, and his father’s house: and Joseph lived an hundred and ten years.

José chegou a ver os filhos e os netos de Efraim. Viu também os filhos de Maquir, que era filho de Manassés, os quais José tomou no colo.

Y vió José los hijos de Ephraim hasta la tercera generación: también los hijos de Machîr, hijo de Manasés, fueron criados sobre las rodillas de José.

And Joseph saw Ephraim’s children of the third generation: the children also of Machir the son of Manasseh were brought up upon Joseph’s knees.

Disse José aos seus irmãos: “Está chegando o dia da minha morte; mas Deus certamente virá ao encontro de vocês no tempo certo e os tirará desta terra, e os fará voltar para a terra que ele jurou dar a Abraão, a Isaque e a Jacó”.

Y José dijo á sus hermanos: Yo me muero; mas Dios ciertamente os visitará, y os hará subir de aquesta tierra á la tierra que juró á Abraham, á Isaac, y á Jacob.

And Joseph said unto his brethren, I die: and God will surely visit you, and bring you out of this land unto the land which he sware to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

Joseph said to his brothers, “I am dying, but God will surely visit you, and bring you up out of this land to the land which he swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.”

Então José fez que os filhos de Israel jurassem, dizendo-lhes: “Estou certo de que Deus fará o que acabo de dizer. Quando isso acontecer, levem os meus ossos daqui”.

Y conjuró José á los hijos de Israel, diciendo: Dios ciertamente os visitará, y haréis llevar de aquí mis huesos.

And Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you, and ye shall carry up my bones from hence.

José morreu com cento e dez anos. Seu corpo foi embalsamado e colocado num caixão no Egito.

Y murió José de edad de ciento diez años; y embalsamáronlo, y fué puesto en un ataúd en Egipto.

So Joseph died, being an hundred and ten years old: and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt.
