Cuando los cananeos que vivían allí vieron el luto en la era de Atad, comentaron: “Este luto de los egipcios es muy grande”. Por eso, a ese lugar que está junto al Jordán se le llamó Abel Mizraim.
Y viendo los moradores de la tierra, los Cananeos, el llanto en la era de Atad, dijeron: Llanto grande es este de los Egipcios: por eso fué llamado su nombre Abelmizraim, que está á la otra parte del Jordán.
