Dan sei eine Schlange am Wege, / eine Otter auf dem Pfade, / die das Ross in die Fersen beisst, / dass sein Reiter rücklings stürzt. /

Será Dan serpiente junto al camino, cerasta junto á la senda, que muerde los talones de los caballos, y hace caer por detrás al cabalgador de ellos.

Dan shall be a serpent by the way, an adder in the path, that biteth the horse heels, so that his rider shall fall backward.

Dan will be a serpent on the trail, an adder in the path, that bites the horse’s heels, so that his rider falls backward.
