1Israel emprendió el viaje con todo lo que tenía, y al llegar a Beerseba, ofreció sacrificios al Dios de su padre Isaac.
2Durante la noche, Dios le habló a Israel en una visión y lo llamó: “¡Jacob, Jacob!” “Aquí estoy”, respondió él.
3Y Dios le dijo: “Yo soy Dios, el Dios de tu padre. No tengas miedo de bajar a Egipto, porque allí haré de ti una gran nación.
4Yo mismo bajaré contigo a Egipto, y yo mismo te haré volver de allá. Y cuando mueras, José cerrará tus ojos con sus propias manos”.
5Jacob se marchó de Beerseba, y los hijos de Israel llevaron a su padre Jacob, junto con sus niños y sus esposas, en las carretas que el faraón había enviado para transportarlo.
6También se llevaron su ganado y los bienes que habían adquirido en la tierra de Canaán. Así fue como Jacob y toda su descendencia llegaron a Egipto.
7Jacob se llevó a Egipto a sus hijos y a sus nietos, a sus hijas y a sus nietas; es decir, a toda su descendencia.
8Éstos son los nombres de los israelitas que llegaron a Egipto (Jacob y sus descendientes): Rubén, el hijo mayor de Jacob.
9Los hijos de Rubén fueron Hanoc, Falú, Hezrón y Carmí.
10Los hijos de Simeón fueron Jemuel, Jamín, Ohad, Jaquín, Zóhar y Saúl, que era hijo de una mujer cananea.
11Los hijos de Leví fueron Gersón, Coat y Merarí.
12Los hijos de Judá fueron Er, Onán, Selá, Fares y Zera; pero Er y Onán habían muerto en la tierra de Canaán. Los hijos de Fares fueron Hezrón y Hamul.
13Los hijos de Isacar fueron Tola, Fúa, Job y Simrón.
14Los hijos de Zabulón fueron Sered, Elón y Jahleel.
15Éstos fueron los hijos que Lea le dio a Jacob en Padán Aram, además de su hija Dina. En total, los hijos y las hijas de Lea eran treinta y tres personas.
16Los hijos de Gad fueron Zifión, Hagui, Suni, Ezbón, Erí, Arodí y Arelí.
17Los hijos de Aser fueron Imná, Isúa, Isúi y Bería, y la hermana de ellos se llamaba Sera. Los hijos de Bería fueron Heber y Malquiel.
18Éstos fueron los hijos que Zilpá le dio a Jacob (Zilpá era la sirvienta que Labán le había regalado a su hija Lea). En total fueron dieciséis personas.
19Los hijos de Raquel, la esposa de Jacob, fueron José y Benjamín.
20En Egipto, Asenat, la hija de Potifera, el sacerdote de On, le dio dos hijos a José: Manasés y Efraín.
21Los hijos de Benjamín fueron Bela, Bequer, Asbel, Gera, Naamán, Ehí, Ros, Mupim, Hupim y Ard.
22Éstos fueron los hijos que Raquel le dio a Jacob; en total fueron catorce personas.
23El hijo de Dan fue Husim.
24Los hijos de Neftalí fueron Jahzeel, Guní, Jezer y Silem.
25Éstos fueron los hijos que Bilhá le dio a Jacob (Bilhá era la sirvienta que Labán le había regalado a su hija Raquel). En total fueron siete personas.
26El total de las personas que llegaron a Egipto con Jacob y que eran de su propia sangre (sin contar a las esposas de sus hijos), fue de sesenta y seis.
27Y los hijos que le nacieron a José en Egipto fueron dos. Así que el total de las personas de la familia de Jacob que llegaron a Egipto fue de setenta.
28Jacob mandó a Judá por delante para que le avisara a José que estaban en camino a Gosén. Cuando llegaron a la región de Gosén,
29José preparó su carruaje y salió a recibir a su padre Israel. Al encontrarse con él, José lo abrazó y lloró abrazado a él por un largo rato.
30Entonces Israel le dijo a José: “Ya me puedo morir en paz, porque te he visto y sé que todavía estás vivo”.
31Luego José les dijo a sus hermanos y a la familia de su padre: “Voy a ir a avisarle al faraón. Le diré: ‘Mis hermanos y la familia de mi padre, que vivían en la tierra de Canaán, han venido a quedarse conmigo.
32Como estos hombres son pastores y se dedican a la cría de animales, han traído sus ovejas, sus vacas y todo lo que tienen’.
33Así que, cuando el faraón los mande llamar y les pregunte: ‘¿A qué se dedican?’,
34ustedes responderán: ‘Sus siervos se han dedicado a la cría de ganado desde su juventud hasta ahora, al igual que nuestros antepasados’. Digan esto para que puedan quedarse a vivir en la región de Gosén, ya que los egipcios detestan a los pastores de ovejas”.

8Y estos son los nombres de los hijos de Israel, que entraron en Egipto, Jacob y sus hijos: Rubén, el primogénito de Jacob.

26Todas las personas que vinieron con Jacob á Egipto, procedentes de sus lomos, sin las mujeres de los hijos de Jacob, todas las personas fueron sesenta y seis.
27Y los hijos de José, que le nacieron en Egipto, dos personas. Todas las almas de la casa de Jacob, que entraron en Egipto, fueron setenta.
28Y envió á Judá delante de sí á José, para que le viniese á ver á Gosén; y llegaron á la tierra de Gosén.
29Y José unció su carro y vino á recibir á Israel su padre á Gosén; y se manifestó á él, y echóse sobre su cuello, y lloró sobre su cuello bastante.
30Entonces Israel dijo á José: Muera yo ahora, ya que he visto tu rostro, pues aun vives.
31Y José dijo á sus hermanos, y á la casa de su padre: Subiré y haré saber á Faraón, y diréle: Mis hermanos y la casa de mi padre, que estaban en la tierra de Canaán, han venido á mí;
32Y los hombres son pastores de ovejas, porque son hombres ganaderos: y han traído sus ovejas y sus vacas, y todo lo que tenían.
33Y cuando Faraón os llamare y dijere: ¿cuál es vuestro oficio?
34Entonces diréis: Hombres de ganadería han sido tus siervos desde nuestra mocedad hasta ahora, nosotros y nuestros padres; á fin que moréis en la tierra de Gosén, porque los Egipcios abominan todo pastor de ovejas.

1And Israel took his journey with all that he had, and came to Beer-sheba, and offered sacrifices unto the God of his father Isaac.
2And God spake unto Israel in the visions of the night, and said, Jacob, Jacob. And he said, Here am I.
3And he said, I am God, the God of thy father: fear not to go down into Egypt; for I will there make of thee a great nation:
4I will go down with thee into Egypt; and I will also surely bring thee up again: and Joseph shall put his hand upon thine eyes.
5And Jacob rose up from Beer-sheba: and the sons of Israel carried Jacob their father, and their little ones, and their wives, in the wagons which Pharaoh had sent to carry him.
6And they took their cattle, and their goods, which they had gotten in the land of Canaan, and came into Egypt, Jacob, and all his seed with him:
7His sons, and his sons’ sons with him, his daughters, and his sons’ daughters, and all his seed brought he with him into Egypt.
8And these are the names of the children of Israel, which came into Egypt, Jacob and his sons: Reuben, Jacob’s firstborn.
9And the sons of Reuben; Hanoch, and Phallu, and Hezron, and Carmi.
10And the sons of Simeon; Jemuel, and Jamin, and Ohad, and Jachin, and Zohar, and Shaul the son of a Canaanitish woman.
11And the sons of Levi; Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
12And the sons of Judah; Er, and Onan, and Shelah, and Pharez, and Zerah: but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan. And the sons of Pharez were Hezron and Hamul.
13And the sons of Issachar; Tola, and Phuvah, and Job, and Shimron.
14And the sons of Zebulun; Sered, and Elon, and Jahleel.
15These be the sons of Leah, which she bare unto Jacob in Padan-aram, with his daughter Dinah: all the souls of his sons and his daughters were thirty and three.
16And the sons of Gad; Ziphion, and Haggi, Shuni, and Ezbon, Eri, and Arodi, and Areli.
17And the sons of Asher; Jimnah, and Ishuah, and Isui, and Beriah, and Serah their sister: and the sons of Beriah; Heber, and Malchiel.
18These are the sons of Zilpah, whom Laban gave to Leah his daughter, and these she bare unto Jacob, even sixteen souls.

20And unto Joseph in the land of Egypt were born Manasseh and Ephraim, which Asenath the daughter of Poti-pherah priest of On bare unto him.
21And the sons of Benjamin were Belah, and Becher, and Ashbel, Gera, and Naaman, Ehi, and Rosh, Muppim, and Huppim, and Ard.
22These are the sons of Rachel, which were born to Jacob: all the souls were fourteen.
23And the sons of Dan; Hushim.
24And the sons of Naphtali; Jahzeel, and Guni, and Jezer, and Shillem.
25These are the sons of Bilhah, which Laban gave unto Rachel his daughter, and she bare these unto Jacob: all the souls were seven.
26All the souls that came with Jacob into Egypt, which came out of his loins, besides Jacob’s sons’ wives, all the souls were threescore and six;
27And the sons of Joseph, which were born him in Egypt, were two souls: all the souls of the house of Jacob, which came into Egypt, were threescore and ten.
28And he sent Judah before him unto Joseph, to direct his face unto Goshen; and they came into the land of Goshen.
29And Joseph made ready his chariot, and went up to meet Israel his father, to Goshen, and presented himself unto him; and he fell on his neck, and wept on his neck a good while.
30And Israel said unto Joseph, Now let me die, since I have seen thy face, because thou art yet alive.
31And Joseph said unto his brethren, and unto his father’s house, I will go up, and shew Pharaoh, and say unto him, My brethren, and my father’s house, which were in the land of Canaan, are come unto me;
32And the men are shepherds, for their trade hath been to feed cattle; and they have brought their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have.
33And it shall come to pass, when Pharaoh shall call you, and shall say, What is your occupation?
34That ye shall say, Thy servants’ trade hath been about cattle from our youth even until now, both we, and also our fathers: that ye may dwell in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd is an abomination unto the Egyptians.

1Israel traveled with all that he had, and came to Beersheba, and offered sacrifices to the God of his father, Isaac.
2God spoke to Israel in the visions of the night, and said, “Jacob, Jacob!” He said, “Here I am.”
3He said, “I am God, the God of your father. Don’t be afraid to go down into Egypt, for there I will make of you a great nation.
4I will go down with you into Egypt. I will also surely bring you up again. Joseph’s hand will close your eyes.”
5Jacob rose up from Beersheba, and the sons of Israel carried Jacob, their father, their little ones, and their wives, in the wagons which Pharaoh had sent to carry him.
6They took their livestock, and their goods, which they had gotten in the land of Canaan, and came into Egypt—Jacob, and all his offspring with him,
7his sons, and his sons’ sons with him, his daughters, and his sons’ daughters, and he brought all his offspring with him into Egypt.

29Joseph prepared his chariot, and went up to meet Israel, his father, in Goshen. He presented himself to him, and fell on his neck, and wept on his neck a good while.
30Israel said to Joseph, “Now let me die, since I have seen your face, that you are still alive.”
31Joseph said to his brothers, and to his father’s house, “I will go up, and speak with Pharaoh, and will tell him, ‘My brothers, and my father’s house, who were in the land of Canaan, have come to me.
32These men are shepherds, for they have been keepers of livestock, and they have brought their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have.’
33It will happen, when Pharaoh summons you, and will say, ‘What is your occupation?’
34that you shall say, ‘Your servants have been keepers of livestock from our youth even until now, both we, and our fathers:’ that you may dwell in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd is an abomination to the Egyptians.”
