Als er sie nun eingeholt hatte, redete er solche Worte mit ihnen.

And they said unto him, Wherefore saith my lord these words? God forbid that thy servants should do according to this thing:

Das Geld, das wir oben in unsern Säcken gefunden, haben wir dir doch aus dem Lande Kanaan zurückgebracht; wie sollten wir da aus dem Hause deines Herrn Silber oder Gold stehlen?
He aquí, el dinero que hallamos en la boca de nuestros costales, te lo volvimos á traer desde la tierra de Canaán; ¿cómo, pues, habíamos de hurtar de casa de tu señor plata ni oro?
Behold, the money, which we found in our sacks’ mouths, we brought again unto thee out of the land of Canaan: how then should we steal out of thy lord’s house silver or gold?

Der unter deinen Knechten, bei dem es gefunden wird, der sei des Todes; wir aber wollen überdies meines Herrn Knechte sein.

And he said, Now also let it be according unto your words: he with whom it is found shall be my servant; and ye shall be blameless.

Und eilends liess ein jeder seinen Sack auf die Erde herab und machte ihn auf.

Da sprach Joseph zu ihnen: Was ist das für eine Tat, die ihr begangen habt! Wusstet ihr nicht, dass ein Mann wie ich es gewiss erkunden würde?
Y díjoles José: ¿Qué obra es esta que habéis hecho? ¿no sabéis que un hombre como yo sabe adivinar?
And Joseph said unto them, What deed is this that ye have done? wot ye not that such a man as I can certainly divine?

Juda antwortete: Was sollen wir meinem Herrn sagen? wie sollen wir reden und womit uns rechtfertigen? Gott hat die Schuld deiner Knechte an den Tag gebracht. Siehe, wir sind meines Herrn Knechte, wir sowohl als der, bei dem sich der Becher gefunden hat.
Entonces dijo Judá: ¿Qué diremos á mi señor? ¿qué hablaremos? ¿ó con qué nos justificaremos? Dios ha hallado la maldad de tus siervos: he aquí, nosotros somos siervos de mi señor, nosotros, y también aquél en cuyo poder fué hallada la copa.
And Judah said, What shall we say unto my lord? what shall we speak? or how shall we clear ourselves? God hath found out the iniquity of thy servants: behold, we are my lord’s servants, both we, and he also with whom the cup is found.
Judah said, “What will we tell my lord? What will we speak? How will we clear ourselves? God has found out the iniquity of your servants. Behold, we are my lord’s slaves, both we and he also in whose hand the cup is found.”
Er aber sprach: Das sei ferne von mir, solches zu tun! Nur der, bei dem sich der Becher gefunden hat, soll mein Knecht sein; ihr aber mögt in Frieden hinauf zu eurem Vater ziehen!
Y él respondió: Nunca yo tal haga: el varón en cuyo poder fué hallada la copa, él será mi siervo; vosotros id en paz á vuestro padre.
And he said, God forbid that I should do so: but the man in whose hand the cup is found, he shall be my servant; and as for you, get you up in peace unto your father.
He said, “Far be it from me that I should do so. The man in whose hand the cup is found, he will be my slave; but as for you, go up in peace to your father.”
Da trat Juda zu ihm heran und sprach: Mit Verlaub, Herr, lass doch deinen Knecht ein Wort reden vor deinen Ohren, und dein Zorn entbrenne nicht über deinen Knecht; denn du bist wie der Pharao.
Entonces Judá se llegó á él, y dijo: Ay señor mío, ruégote que hable tu siervo una palabra en oídos de mi señor, y no se encienda tu enojo contra tu siervo, pues que tú eres como Faraón.
Then Judah came near unto him, and said, Oh my lord, let thy servant, I pray thee, speak a word in my lord’s ears, and let not thine anger burn against thy servant: for thou art even as Pharaoh.
Then Judah came near to him, and said, “Oh, my lord, please let your servant speak a word in my lord’s ears, and don’t let your anger burn against your servant; for you are even as Pharaoh.
Mein Herr hat seine Knechte gefragt: Habt ihr noch einen Vater oder einen Bruder?

Da antworteten wir meinem Herrn: Wir haben noch unsern alten Vater und einen Knaben, der ihm im Alter geboren wurde; sein Bruder ist tot, und so ist er allein von seiner Mutter übriggeblieben, und der Vater hat ihn lieb. (a) 1Mo 42:13
Y nosotros respondimos á mi señor: Tenemos un padre anciano, y un mozo que le nació en su vejez, pequeño aún; y un hermano suyo murió, y él quedó solo de su madre, y su padre lo ama.
And we said unto my lord, We have a father, an old man, and a child of his old age, a little one; and his brother is dead, and he alone is left of his mother, and his father loveth him.

Da sprachst du zu deinen Knechten: Bringt ihn herab zu mir, dass ich ihn zu Gesicht bekomme.

And thou saidst unto thy servants, Bring him down unto me, that I may set mine eyes upon him.

Wir aber antworteten meinem Herrn: Der Knabe kann seinen Vater nicht verlassen; wenn er seinen Vater verliesse, so würde dieser sterben.
Y nosotros dijimos á mi señor: El mozo no puede dejar á su padre, porque si le dejare, su padre morirá.
And we said unto my lord, The lad cannot leave his father: for if he should leave his father, his father would die.
We said to my lord, ‘The boy can’t leave his father, for if he should leave his father, his father would die.’
Da sprachst du zu deinen Knechten: Wenn euer jüngster Bruder nicht mit euch herabkommt, so dürft ihr mir nicht mehr unter die Augen treten.
Y dijiste á tus siervos: Si vuestro hermano menor no descendiere con vosotros, no veáis más mi rostro.
And thou saidst unto thy servants, Except your youngest brother come down with you, ye shall see my face no more.
You said to your servants, ‘Unless your youngest brother comes down with you, you will see my face no more.’
Als wir nun zu deinem Knechte, meinem Vater, hinaufkamen, taten wir ihm die Worte meines Herrn kund.
Aconteció pues, que como llegamos á mi padre tu siervo, contámosle las palabras de mi señor.

Y nosotros respondimos: No podemos ir: si nuestro hermano fuere con nosotros, iremos; porque no podemos ver el rostro del varón, no estando con nosotros nuestro hermano el menor.
And we said, We cannot go down: if our youngest brother be with us, then will we go down: for we may not see the man’s face, except our youngest brother be with us.

Da sprach dein Knecht, mein Vater, zu uns: Ihr wisst ja selbst, dass mir mein Weib nur zwei Söhne geboren hat.
Entonces tu siervo mi padre nos dijo: Vosotros sabéis que dos me parió mi mujer;
And thy servant my father said unto us, Ye know that my wife bare me two sons:
Your servant, my father, said to us, ‘You know that my wife bore me two sons.
Der eine ist von mir gegangen, sodass ich mir sagen musste: "Er ist gewiss zerrissen worden", und ich habe ihn bis heute nicht wiedergesehen.
Y el uno salió de conmigo, y pienso de cierto que fué despedazado, y hasta ahora no le he visto;
And the one went out from me, and I said, Surely he is torn in pieces; and I saw him not since:

Nehmt ihr nun diesen auch von mir, und es stösst ihm ein Unfall zu, so bringt ihr meine grauen Haare mit Jammer ins Totenreich hinunter. (a) 1Mo 42:38
Y si tomareis también éste de delante de mí, y le aconteciere algún desastre, haréis descender mis canas con dolor á la sepultura.
And if ye take this also from me, and mischief befall him, ye shall bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave.
If you take this one also from me, and harm happens to him, you will bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to Sheol.’
Und nun, wenn ich zu deinem Knechte, meinem Vater, heimkäme und der Knabe wäre nicht bei uns, an dem er doch mit ganzer Seele hängt,
Ahora, pues, cuando llegare yo á tu siervo mi padre, y el mozo no fuere conmigo, como su alma está ligada al alma de él,
Now therefore when I come to thy servant my father, and the lad be not with us; seeing that his life is bound up in the lad’s life;
Now therefore when I come to your servant my father, and the boy is not with us; since his life is bound up in the boy’s life;
so stirbt er, wenn er sieht, dass der Knabe nicht mehr bei uns ist. So würden deine Knechte die grauen Haare deines Knechtes, unsres Vaters, mit Kummer ins Totenreich hinunterbringen.
Sucederá que cuando no vea al mozo, morirá: y tus siervos harán descender las canas de tu siervo nuestro padre con dolor á la sepultura.
It shall come to pass, when he seeth that the lad is not with us, that he will die: and thy servants shall bring down the gray hairs of thy servant our father with sorrow to the grave.
it will happen, when he sees that the boy is no more, that he will die. Your servants will bring down the gray hairs of your servant, our father, with sorrow to Sheol.
Denn dein Knecht ist für den Knaben Bürge geworden bei meinem Vater und hat gesprochen: "Wenn ich ihn dir nicht wiederbringe, so will ich mein Leben lang die Schuld tragen vor meinem Vater." (a) 1Mo 43 9
Como tu siervo salió por fiador del mozo con mi padre, diciendo: Si no te lo volviere, entonces yo seré culpable para mi padre todos los días;
For thy servant became surety for the lad unto my father, saying, If I bring him not unto thee, then I shall bear the blame to my father for ever.
For your servant became collateral for the boy to my father, saying, ‘If I don’t bring him to you, then I will bear the blame to my father forever.’
Darum erlaube jetzt, dass dein Knecht an des Knaben Statt hier bleibe als Sklave meines Herrn; der Knabe aber möge mit seinen Brüdern hinaufziehen.
Ruégote por tanto que quede ahora tu siervo por el mozo por siervo de mi señor, y que el mozo vaya con sus hermanos.
Now therefore, I pray thee, let thy servant abide instead of the lad a bondman to my lord; and let the lad go up with his brethren.
