La famine s'appesantissait sur le pays.

Y EL hambre era grande en la tierra.

Quand ils eurent fini de manger le blé qu'ils avaient apporté d'Egypte, leur père leur dit : " Retournez nous acheter un peu de vivres. "

Y aconteció que como acabaron de comer el trigo que trajeron de Egipto, díjoles su padre: Volved, y comprad para nosotros un poco de alimento.

And it came to pass, when they had eaten up the corn which they had brought out of Egypt, their father said unto them, Go again, buy us a little food.

Juda lui répondit : " Cet homme nous a fait cette déclaration formelle : Vous ne verrez point ma face que votre frère ne soit avec vous.

Y respondió Judá, diciendo: Aquel varón nos protestó con ánimo resuelto, diciendo: No veréis mi rostro sin vuestro hermano con vosotros.

And Judah spake unto him, saying, The man did solemnly protest unto us, saying, Ye shall not see my face, except your brother be with you.

Si donc tu laisses venir notre frère avec nous, nous descendrons et nous t'achèterons des vivres.

Si enviares á nuestro hermano con nosotros, descenderemos y te compraremos alimento:

If thou wilt send our brother with us, we will go down and buy thee food:

If you’ll send our brother with us, we’ll go down and buy you food;

Mais si tu ne le laisses pas venir, nous ne descendrons point ; car cet homme nous a dit : Vous ne verrez pas ma face que votre frère ne soit avec vous. "

Pero si no le enviares, no descenderemos: porque aquel varón nos dijo: No veréis mi rostro sin vuestro hermano con vosotros.

But if thou wilt not send him, we will not go down: for the man said unto us, Ye shall not see my face, except your brother be with you.

Et Israël dit : " Pourquoi m'avez-vous causé cette peine, de dire à cet homme que vous aviez encore un frère ? "

Y dijo Israel: ¿Por qué me hicisteis tanto mal, declarando al varón que teníais más hermano?

And Israel said, Wherefore dealt ye so ill with me, as to tell the man whether ye had yet a brother?

Israel said, “Why did you treat me so badly, telling the man that you had another brother?”

Ils dirent : " Cet homme nous a adressé beaucoup de questions sur nous et sur notre famille, en disant : Votre père vit-il encore ? Avez-vous un autre frère ? Et nous avons répondu selon ces questions. Pouvions-nous savoir qu'il dirait : Faites descendre votre frère ? "

Y ellos respondieron: Aquel varón nos preguntó expresamente por nosotros, y por nuestra parentela, diciendo: ¿Vive aún vuestro padre? ¿tenéis otro hermano? y declarámosle conforme á estas palabras. ¿Podíamos nosotros saber que había de decir: Haced venir á vuestro hermano?

And they said, The man asked us straitly of our state, and of our kindred, saying, Is your father yet alive? have ye another brother? and we told him according to the tenor of these words: could we certainly know that he would say, Bring your brother down?

They said, “The man asked directly concerning ourselves, and concerning our relatives, saying, ‘Is your father still alive? Have you another brother?’ We just answered his questions. Is there any way we could know that he would say, ‘Bring your brother down’?”

Et Juda dit à Israël, son père : " Laisse partir l'enfant avec moi, afin que nous nous levions et nous mettions en route, et nous vivrons et ne mourrons point, nous, toi et nos petits enfants.

Entonces Judá dijo á Israel su padre: Envía al mozo conmigo, y nos levantaremos é iremos, á fin que vivamos y no muramos nosotros, y tú, y nuestros niños.

And Judah said unto Israel his father, Send the lad with me, and we will arise and go; that we may live, and not die, both we, and thou, and also our little ones.

C'est moi qui réponds de lui, tu le redemanderas de ma main. Si je ne le ramène pas auprès de toi, si je ne le mets pas devant toi, je serai coupable envers toi à tout jamais.

Yo lo fío; á mí me pedirás cuenta de él: si yo no te lo volviere y lo pusiere delante de ti, seré para ti el culpante todos los días:

I will be surety for him; of my hand shalt thou require him: if I bring him not unto thee, and set him before thee, then let me bear the blame for ever:

I’ll be collateral for him. From my hand will you require him. If I don’t bring him to you, and set him before you, then let me bear the blame forever;

Car si nous n'avions pas tant tardé, nous serions maintenant deux fois de retour. "

Que si no nos hubiéramos detenido, cierto ahora hubiéramos ya vuelto dos veces.

For except we had lingered, surely now we had returned this second time.

for if we hadn’t delayed, surely we would have returned a second time by now.”

Israël, leur père, leur dit : " Eh bien, puisqu'il le faut, faites ceci : Prenez dans vos vaisseaux des meilleures productions du pays et portez à cet homme un présent : un peu de baume et un peu de miel, de l'astragale, du ladanum, des pistaches et des amandes.

Entonces Israel su padre les respondió: Pues que así es, hacedlo; tomad de lo mejor de la tierra en vuestros vasos, y llevad á aquel varón un presente, un poco de bálsamo, y un poco de miel, aromas y mirra, nueces y almendras.

And their father Israel said unto them, If it must be so now, do this; take of the best fruits in the land in your vessels, and carry down the man a present, a little balm, and a little honey, spices, and myrrh, nuts, and almonds:

Prenez dans vos mains de l'argent en double, et reportez celui qui a été mis à l'entrée de vos sacs, peut-être par erreur.

Y tomad en vuestras manos doblado dinero, y llevad en vuestra mano el dinero vuelto en las bocas de vuestros costales; quizá fué yerro.

And take double money in your hand; and the money that was brought again in the mouth of your sacks, carry it again in your hand; peradventure it was an oversight:

and take double money in your hand, and take back the money that was returned in the mouth of your sacks. Perhaps it was an oversight.

Prenez votre frère, levez-vous et retournez vers cet homme.

Tomad también á vuestro hermano, y levantaos, y volved á aquel varón.

Que le Dieu tout-puissant vous fasse trouver grâce devant cet homme, afin qu'il laisse revenir avec vous votre autre frère, ainsi que Benjamin ! Pour moi, si je dois être privé de mes enfants, que j'en sois privé ! "

Y el Dios Omnipotente os dé misericordias delante de aquel varón, y os suelte al otro vuestro hermano, y á este Benjamín. Y si he de ser privado de mis hijos, séalo.

And God Almighty give you mercy before the man, that he may send away your other brother, and Benjamin. If I be bereaved of my children, I am bereaved.

May God Almighty give you mercy before the man, that he may release to you your other brother and Benjamin. If I am bereaved of my children, I am bereaved.”

Les hommes prirent ce présent, et ils prirent dans leurs mains de l'argent au double, ainsi que Benjamin ; et, s'étant levés, ils descendirent en Egypte et se présentèrent devant Joseph.

Entonces tomaron aquellos varones el presente, y tomaron en su mano doblado dinero, y á Benjamín; y se levantaron, y descendieron á Egipto, y presentáronse delante de José.

And the men took that present, and they took double money in their hand, and Benjamin; and rose up, and went down to Egypt, and stood before Joseph.

Dès que Joseph vit Benjamin avec eux, il dit à son intendant : " Fais entrer ces gens dans la maison, tue des victimes et apprête un repas, car ces gens mangeront avec moi à midi. "

Y vió José á Benjamín con ellos, y dijo al mayordomo de su casa: Mete en casa á esos hombres, y degüella víctima, y aderézala; porque estos hombres comerán conmigo al medio día.

And when Joseph saw Benjamin with them, he said to the ruler of his house, Bring these men home, and slay, and make ready; for these men shall dine with me at noon.

Cet homme fit ce que Joseph avait ordonné, et il conduisit ces gens dans la maison de Joseph.

E hizo el hombre como José dijo; y metió aquel hombre á los hombres en casa de José.

And the man did as Joseph bade; and the man brought the men into Joseph’s house.

Pendant qu'on les conduisait à la maison de Joseph, les hommes eurent peur, et ils dirent : " C'est à cause de l'argent rapporté l'autre fois dans nos sacs qu'on nous emmène ; c'est pour nous assaillir, tomber sur nous, nous prendre comme esclaves avec nos ânes. "

Y aquellos hombres tuvieron temor, cuando fueron metidos en casa de José, y decían: Por el dinero que fué vuelto en nuestros costales la primera vez nos han metido aquí, para revolver contra nosotros, y dar sobre nosotros, y tomarnos por siervos á nosotros, y á nuestros asnos.

And the men were afraid, because they were brought into Joseph’s house; and they said, Because of the money that was returned in our sacks at the first time are we brought in; that he may seek occasion against us, and fall upon us, and take us for bondmen, and our asses.

The men were afraid, because they were brought to Joseph’s house; and they said, “Because of the money that was returned in our sacks the first time, we’re brought in; that he may seek occasion against us, attack us, and seize us as slaves, along with our donkeys.”

S'étant approchés de l'intendant de la maison de Joseph, ils lui adressèrent la parole, à l'entrée de la maison,

Y llegáronse al mayordomo de la casa de José, y le hablaron á la entrada de la casa.

And they came near to the steward of Joseph’s house, and they communed with him at the door of the house,

Au retour, quand nous arrivâmes à l'endroit où nous devions passer la nuit, nous avons ouvert nos sacs, et voici, l'argent de chacun était à l'entrée de son sac, notre argent selon son poids : nous le rapportons avec nous ;

Y aconteció que como vinimos al mesón y abrimos nuestros costales, he aquí el dinero de cada uno estaba en la boca de su costal, nuestro dinero en su justo peso; y hémoslo vuelto en nuestras manos.

And it came to pass, when we came to the inn, that we opened our sacks, and, behold, every man’s money was in the mouth of his sack, our money in full weight: and we have brought it again in our hand.

et en même temps nous avons apporté d'autre argent pour acheter des vivres. Nous ne savons pas qui a mis notre argent dans nos sacs. "

Hemos también traído en nuestras manos otro dinero para comprar alimentos: nosotros no sabemos quién haya puesto nuestro dinero en nuestros costales.

And other money have we brought down in our hands to buy food: we cannot tell who put our money in our sacks.

Il leur dit : " Que la paix soit avec vous ! Ne craignez rien. C'est votre Dieu, le Dieu de votre père, qui vous a donné un trésor dans vos sacs. Votre argent m'a été remis. " Et il leur amena Siméon.

Y él respondió: Paz á vosotros, no temáis; vuestro Dios y el Dios de vuestro padre os dió el tesoro en vuestros costales: vuestro dinero vino á mí. Y sacó á Simeón á ellos.

And he said, Peace be to you, fear not: your God, and the God of your father, hath given you treasure in your sacks: I had your money. And he brought Simeon out unto them.

He said, “Peace be to you. Don’t be afraid. Your God, and the God of your father, has given you treasure in your sacks. I received your money.” He brought Simeon out to them.

Cet homme, les ayant fait entrer dans la maison de Joseph, leur donna de l'eau et ils se lavèrent les pieds ; il donna aussi du fourrage à leurs ânes.

Y metió aquel varón á aquellos hombres en casa de José: y dióles agua, y lavaron sus pies: y dió de comer á sus asnos.

And they answered, Thy servant our father is in good health, he is yet alive. And they bowed down their heads, and made obeisance.

They said, “Your servant, our father, is well. He is still alive.” They bowed down humbly.

Y alzando él sus ojos vió á Benjamín su hermano, hijo de su madre, y dijo: ¿Es éste vuestro hermano menor, de quien me hablasteis? Y dijo: Dios tenga misericordia de ti, hijo mío.

And he lifted up his eyes, and saw his brother Benjamin, his mother’s son, and said, Is this your younger brother, of whom ye spake unto me? And he said, God be gracious unto thee, my son.

Alors, en toute hâte, car ses entrailles étaient émues pour son frère, Joseph chercha un endroit pour pleurer ; il entra dans sa chambre et il y pleura.

Après s'être lavé le visage, il sortit et, faisant des efforts pour se contenir, il dit : " Servez à manger. "
