Génesis 42

Et lorsque Jacob vit qu'il y avait du blé en Égypte, il dit à ses fils : Pourquoi vous entre-regardez-vous ?

Y VIENDO Jacob que en Egipto había alimentos, dijo á sus hijos: ¿Por qué os estáis mirando?

Now when Jacob saw that there was corn in Egypt, Jacob said unto his sons, Why do ye look one upon another?

Now Jacob saw that there was grain in Egypt, and Jacob said to his sons, “Why do you look at one another?”

Et il dit : Voici, j'ai appris qu'il y a du blé en Égypte : descendez-y et y faites des achats pour nous, afin que nous vivions et ne mourions pas.

Y dijo: He aquí, yo he oído que hay víveres en Egipto; descended allá, y comprad de allí para nosotros, para que podamos vivir, y no nos muramos.

And he said, Behold, I have heard that there is corn in Egypt: get you down thither, and buy for us from thence; that we may live, and not die.

He said, “Behold, I have heard that there is grain in Egypt. Go down there, and buy for us from there, so that we may live, and not die.”

Alors les dix frères de Joseph descendirent en Égypte pour y acheter du blé.

Y descendieron los diez hermanos de José á comprar trigo á Egipto.

And Joseph’s ten brethren went down to buy corn in Egypt.

Joseph’s ten brothers went down to buy grain from Egypt.

Mais quant à Benjamin, frère de Joseph, Jacob ne l'envoya point avec ses frères, car il disait : Je ne veux pas que malheur lui arrive.

Mas Jacob no envió á Benjamín hermano de José con sus hermanos; porque dijo: No sea acaso que le acontezca algún desastre.

But Benjamin, Joseph’s brother, Jacob sent not with his brethren; for he said, Lest peradventure mischief befall him.

But Jacob didn’t send Benjamin, Joseph’s brother, with his brothers; for he said, “Lest perhaps harm happen to him.”

Les fils d'Israël vinrent donc pour acheter du blé, parmi ceux qui venaient d'ailleurs ; car la famine était dans le pays de Canaan.

Y vinieron los hijos de Israel á comprar entre los que venían: porque había hambre en la tierra de Canaán.

And the sons of Israel came to buy corn among those that came: for the famine was in the land of Canaan.

The sons of Israel came to buy among those who came, for the famine was in the land of Canaan.

Or Joseph avait le pouvoir dans le pays ; c'est lui qui vendait du blé à tout le peuple du pays. Et les frères de Joseph vinrent, et ils s'inclinèrent devant lui la face contre terre.

Y José era el señor de la tierra, que vendía á todo el pueblo de la tierra: y llegaron los hermanos de José, é inclináronse á él rostro por tierra.

And Joseph was the governor over the land, and he it was that sold to all the people of the land: and Joseph’s brethren came, and bowed down themselves before him with their faces to the earth.

Joseph was the governor over the land. It was he who sold to all the people of the land. Joseph’s brothers came, and bowed themselves down to him with their faces to the earth.

Et à la vue de ses frères, Joseph les reconnut, mais il ne se fit pas connaître à eux, et il prit avec eux un langage dur et leur dit : D'où venez-vous ? Et ils répondirent : Du pays de Canaan pour acheter des subsistances.

Y José como vió á sus hermanos, conociólos; mas hizo que no los conocía, y hablóles ásperamente, y les dijo: ¿De dónde habéis venido? Ellos respondieron: De la tierra de Canaán á comprar alimentos.

And Joseph saw his brethren, and he knew them, but made himself strange unto them, and spake roughly unto them; and he said unto them, Whence come ye? And they said, From the land of Canaan to buy food.

Joseph saw his brothers, and he recognized them, but acted like a stranger to them, and spoke roughly with them. He said to them, “Where did you come from?” They said, “From the land of Canaan, to buy food.”

Et Joseph reconnaissait ses frères, mais eux ne le reconnaissaient pas.

José, pues, conoció á sus hermanos; pero ellos no le conocieron.

And Joseph knew his brethren, but they knew not him.

Joseph recognized his brothers, but they didn’t recognize him.

Et Joseph se rappela les songes qu'il avait faits sur eux, et il leur dit : Vous êtes des espions ; c'est pour observer les endroits faibles du pays que vous êtes venus.

Entonces se acordó José de los sueños que había tenido de ellos, y díjoles: Espías sois; por ver lo descubierto del país habéis venido.

And Joseph remembered the dreams which he dreamed of them, and said unto them, Ye are spies; to see the nakedness of the land ye are come.

Joseph remembered the dreams which he dreamed about them, and said to them, “You are spies! You have come to see the nakedness of the land.”

Et ils lui répondirent : Non, monseigneur, et tes serviteurs sont venus pour acheter des subsistances.

Y ellos le respondieron: No, señor mío: mas tus siervos han venido á comprar alimentos.

And they said unto him, Nay, my lord, but to buy food are thy servants come.

They said to him, “No, my lord, but your servants have come to buy food.

Tous nous sommes fils d'un seul homme ; nous sommes honnêtes ; tes serviteurs ne sont point des espions.

Todos nosotros somos hijos de un varón: somos hombres de verdad: tus siervos nunca fueron espías.

We are all one man’s sons; we are true men, thy servants are no spies.

We are all one man’s sons; we are honest men. Your servants are not spies.”

Et il leur dit : Non, car vous êtes venus pour observer les endroits faibles du pays.

Y él les dijo: No; á ver lo descubierto del país habéis venido.

And he said unto them, Nay, but to see the nakedness of the land ye are come.

He said to them, “No, but you have come to see the nakedness of the land!”

Et ils répondirent : Nous, tes serviteurs, sommes douze frères, fils d'un seul homme au pays de Canaan ; et voici, le cadet est maintenant auprès de notre père, et l'un n'est plus.

Y ellos respondieron: Tus siervos somos doce hermanos, hijos de un varón en la tierra de Canaán; y he aquí el menor está hoy con nuestro padre, y otro no parece.

And they said, Thy servants are twelve brethren, the sons of one man in the land of Canaan; and, behold, the youngest is this day with our father, and one is not.

They said, “We, your servants, are twelve brothers, the sons of one man in the land of Canaan; and behold, the youngest is today with our father, and one is no more.”

Et Joseph leur dit : C'est ce que je vous disais : Vous êtes des espions.

Y José les dijo: Eso es lo que os he dicho, afirmando que sois espías:

And Joseph said unto them, That is it that I spake unto you, saying, Ye are spies:

Joseph said to them, “It is like I told you, saying, ‘You are spies!’

Voici l'épreuve que vous subirez : par la vie de Pharaon ! vous ne sortirez pas d'ici que votre frère cadet n'y vienne.

En esto seréis probados: Vive Faraón que no saldréis de aquí, sino cuando vuestro hermano menor aquí viniere.

Hereby ye shall be proved: By the life of Pharaoh ye shall not go forth hence, except your youngest brother come hither.

By this you shall be tested. By the life of Pharaoh, you shall not go out from here, unless your youngest brother comes here.

Envoyez l'un de vous chercher votre frère ; quant à vous, restez prisonniers, pour montrer par cette épreuve s'il y a chez vous vérité ou non. Par la vie de Pharaon ! vous êtes des espions.

Enviad uno de vosotros, y traiga á vuestro hermano; y vosotros quedad presos, y vuestras palabras serán probadas, si hay verdad con vosotros: y si no, vive Faraón, que sois espías.

Send one of you, and let him fetch your brother, and ye shall be kept in prison, that your words may be proved, whether there be any truth in you: or else by the life of Pharaoh surely ye are spies.

Send one of you, and let him get your brother, and you shall be bound, that your words may be tested, whether there is truth in you, or else by the life of Pharaoh surely you are spies.”

Et il les mit ensemble en prison pendant trois jours.

Y juntólos en la cárcel por tres días.

And he put them all together into ward three days.

He put them all together into custody for three days.

Et le troisième jour Joseph leur dit : Faites ceci et vous vivrez ; je crains Dieu !

Y al tercer día díjoles José: Haced esto, y vivid: Yo temo á Dios:

And Joseph said unto them the third day, This do, and live; for I fear God:

Joseph said to them the third day, “Do this, and live, for I fear God.

Si vous êtes honnêtes, que l'un de vos frères reste prisonnier dans le lieu de votre détention, et vous, partez pour porter les subsistances nécessaires à vos maisons,

Si sois hombres de verdad, quede preso en la casa de vuestra cárcel uno de vuestros hermanos; y vosotros id, llevad el alimento para el hambre de vuestra casa:

If ye be true men, let one of your brethren be bound in the house of your prison: go ye, carry corn for the famine of your houses:

If you are honest men, then let one of your brothers be bound in your prison; but you go, carry grain for the famine of your houses.

et ramenez-moi votre frère cadet ; ainsi, vos discours seront vérifiés, et vous ne mourrez pas.Et c'est ce qu'ils firent.

Pero habéis de traerme á vuestro hermano menor, y serán verificadas vuestras palabras, y no moriréis. Y ellos lo hicieron así.

But bring your youngest brother unto me; so shall your words be verified, and ye shall not die. And they did so.

Bring your youngest brother to me; so will your words be verified, and you won’t die.” They did so.

Alors ils se dirent l'un à l'autre : Certainement nous fûmes coupables envers notre frère, lorsque témoins de l'angoisse de son âme nous ne voulûmes point l'écouter quand il nous suppliait ; c'est pour cela que cette détresse nous est survenue.

Y decían el uno al otro: Verdaderamente hemos pecado contra nuestro hermano, que vimos la angustia de su alma cuando nos rogaba, y no le oímos: por eso ha venido sobre nosotros esta angustia.

And they said one to another, We are verily guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the anguish of his soul, when he besought us, and we would not hear; therefore is this distress come upon us.

They said to one another, “We are certainly guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the distress of his soul, when he begged us, and we wouldn’t listen. Therefore this distress has come upon us.”

Et Ruben leur répondit en disant : Ne vous ai-je pas dit : Ne commettez pas un péché sur cet enfant ? mais vous n'avez pas écouté ; et son sang, voici, il est redemandé.

Entonces Rubén les respondió, diciendo: ¿No os hablé yo y dije: No pequéis contra el mozo; y no escuchasteis? He aquí también su sangre es requerida.

And Reuben answered them, saying, Spake I not unto you, saying, Do not sin against the child; and ye would not hear? therefore, behold, also his blood is required.

Reuben answered them, saying, “Didn’t I tell you, saying, ‘Don’t sin against the child,’ and you wouldn’t listen? Therefore also, behold, his blood is required.”

Or ils ne se doutaient pas que Joseph comprenait ; car ils communiquaient par un interprète.

Y ellos no sabían que los entendía José, porque había intérprete entre ellos.

And they knew not that Joseph understood them; for he spake unto them by an interpreter.

They didn’t know that Joseph understood them; for there was an interpreter between them.

Alors Joseph se tira à l'écart et pleura. Et revenant auprès d'eux il leur parla, et choisit parmi eux Siméon, qu'il lia sous leurs yeux.

Y apartóse él de ellos, y lloró: después volvió á ellos, y les habló, y tomó de entre ellos á Simeón, y aprisionóle á vista de ellos.

And he turned himself about from them, and wept; and returned to them again, and communed with them, and took from them Simeon, and bound him before their eyes.

He turned himself away from them, and wept. Then he returned to them, and spoke to them, and took Simeon from among them, and bound him before their eyes.

Et Joseph fit remplir leurs sacs de blé, et remettre leur argent, à chacun dans son sac, et leur fit donner des vivres pour la route. Et c'est ce qui fut fait pour eux.

Y mandó José que llenaran sus sacos de trigo, y devolviesen el dinero de cada uno de ellos, poniéndolo en su saco, y les diesen comida para el camino: é hízose así con ellos.

Then Joseph commanded to fill their sacks with corn, and to restore every man’s money into his sack, and to give them provision for the way: and thus did he unto them.

Then Joseph gave a command to fill their bags with grain, and to restore each man’s money into his sack, and to give them food for the way. So it was done to them.

Et ils chargèrent leur denrée sur leurs ânes, et partirent de là.

Y ellos pusieron su trigo sobre sus asnos, y fuéronse de allí.

And they laded their asses with the corn, and departed thence.

They loaded their donkeys with their grain, and departed from there.

Et l'un d'eux ouvrit son sac pour donner du fourrage à son âne, dans le caravansérail, et il vit son argent, et voilà qu'il était à l'ouverture de son sac !

Y abriendo uno de ellos su saco para dar de comer á su asno en el mesón, vió su dinero que estaba en la boca de su costal.

And as one of them opened his sack to give his ass provender in the inn, he espied his money; for, behold, it was in his sack’s mouth.

As one of them opened his sack to give his donkey food in the lodging place, he saw his money. Behold, it was in the mouth of his sack.

Et il dit à ses frères : Mon argent a été rendu, et le voici dans mon sac ! Alors le cœur leur manqua ; et se regardant l'un l'autre avec effroi ils disaient : Pourquoi Dieu nous a-t-il fait cela ?

Y dijo á sus hermanos: Mi dinero se me ha devuelto, y aun helo aquí en mi saco. Sobresaltóseles entonces el corazón, y espantados dijeron el uno al otro: ¿Qué es esto que nos ha hecho Dios?

And he said unto his brethren, My money is restored; and, lo, it is even in my sack: and their heart failed them, and they were afraid, saying one to another, What is this that God hath done unto us?

He said to his brothers, “My money is restored! Behold, it is in my sack!” Their hearts failed them, and they turned trembling to one another, saying, “What is this that God has done to us?”

Cependant ils arrivèrent chez Jacob, leur père, au pays de Canaan, et ils lui racontèrent tout ce qui leur était survenu et dirent :

Y venidos á Jacob su padre en tierra de Canaán, contáronle todo lo que les había acaecido, diciendo:

And they came unto Jacob their father unto the land of Canaan, and told him all that befell unto them; saying,

They came to Jacob their father, to the land of Canaan, and told him all that had happened to them, saying,

L'homme qui est le seigneur du pays nous a tenu un langage dur et nous a traités comme si nous venions épier le pays.

Aquel varón, señor de la tierra, nos habló ásperamente, y nos trató como á espías de la tierra:

The man, who is the lord of the land, spake roughly to us, and took us for spies of the country.

“The man, the lord of the land, spoke roughly with us, and took us for spies of the country.

Et nous lui avons dit : Nous sommes honnêtes, ne sommes point des espions ;

Y nosotros le dijimos: Somos hombres de verdad, nunca fuimos espías:

And we said unto him, We are true men; we are no spies:

We said to him, ‘We are honest men. We are no spies.

nous sommes douze frères, fils de notre père ; l'un n'est plus, et le cadet est maintenant avec notre père au pays de Canaan.

Somos doce hermanos, hijos de nuestro padre; uno no parece, y el menor está hoy con nuestro padre en la tierra de Canaán.

We be twelve brethren, sons of our father; one is not, and the youngest is this day with our father in the land of Canaan.

We are twelve brothers, sons of our father; one is no more, and the youngest is today with our father in the land of Canaan.’

Alors l'homme qui est le seigneur du pays, nous a dit : Voici ce qui me prouvera que vous êtes honnêtes : laissez chez moi l'un de vos frères, et emportez le nécessaire de vos maisons et partez ; mais ramenez-moi votre frère cadet,

Y aquel varón, señor de la tierra, nos dijo: En esto conoceré que sois hombres de verdad; dejad conmigo uno de vuestros hermanos, y tomad para el hambre de vuestras casas, y andad,

And the man, the lord of the country, said unto us, Hereby shall I know that ye are true men; leave one of your brethren here with me, and take food for the famine of your households, and be gone:

The man, the lord of the land, said to us, ‘By this I will know that you are honest men: leave one of your brothers with me, and take grain for the famine of your houses, and go your way.

pour que j'aie la preuve que vous n'êtes pas des espions, que vous êtes honnêtes, puis je vous rendrai votre frère et vous pourrez faire vos affaires dans le pays. –

Y traedme á vuestro hermano el menor, para que yo sepa que no sois espías, sino hombres de verdad: así os daré á vuestro hermano, y negociaréis en la tierra.

And bring your youngest brother unto me: then shall I know that ye are no spies, but that ye are true men: so will I deliver you your brother, and ye shall traffick in the land.

Bring your youngest brother to me. Then I will know that you are not spies, but that you are honest men. So I will deliver your brother to you, and you shall trade in the land.’”

Et lorsqu'il vidèrent leurs sacs, voici, chacun d'eux avait sa bourse d'argent dans son sac ; et à la vue de leur bourse d'argent ils furent effrayés, eux et leur père. –

Y aconteció que vaciando ellos sus sacos, he aquí que en el saco de cada uno estaba el atado de su dinero: y viendo ellos y su padre los atados de su dinero, tuvieron temor.

And it came to pass as they emptied their sacks, that, behold, every man’s bundle of money was in his sack: and when both they and their father saw the bundles of money, they were afraid.

As they emptied their sacks, behold, each man’s bundle of money was in his sack. When they and their father saw their bundles of money, they were afraid.

Et Jacob, leur père, leur dit : Vous m'ôtez mes enfants ! Joseph n'est plus et Siméon n'est plus, et vous voulez prendre Benjamin ! tout tombe sur moi.

Entonces su padre Jacob les dijo: Habéisme privado de mis hijos; José no parece, ni Simeón tampoco, y á Benjamín le llevaréis: contra mí son todas estas cosas.

And Jacob their father said unto them, Me have ye bereaved of my children: Joseph is not, and Simeon is not, and ye will take Benjamin away: all these things are against me.

Jacob, their father, said to them, “You have bereaved me of my children! Joseph is no more, Simeon is no more, and you want to take Benjamin away. All these things are against me.”

Et Ruben dit à son père : Tu peux faire mourir mes deux fils, si je ne te le ramène pas. Remets-le entre mes mains et je te le rendrai.

Y Rubén habló á su padre, diciendo: Harás morir á mis dos hijos, si no te lo volviere; entrégalo en mi mano, que yo lo volveré á ti.

And Reuben spake unto his father, saying, Slay my two sons, if I bring him not to thee: deliver him into my hand, and I will bring him to thee again.

Reuben spoke to his father, saying, “Kill my two sons, if I don’t bring him to you. Entrust him to my care, and I will bring him to you again.”

Et il dit : Mon fils ne descendra pas avec vous ; car son frère est mort et lui seul survit, et s'il lui arrivait malheur sur la route que vous suivrez, vous feriez descendre mes cheveux blancs douloureusement aux Enfers.

Y él dijo: No descenderá mi hijo con vosotros; que su hermano es muerto, y él solo ha quedado: y si le aconteciere algún desastre en el camino por donde vais, haréis descender mis canas con dolor á la sepultura.

And he said, My son shall not go down with you; for his brother is dead, and he is left alone: if mischief befall him by the way in the which ye go, then shall ye bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave.

He said, “My son shall not go down with you; for his brother is dead, and he only is left. If harm happens to him along the way in which you go, then you will bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to Sheol.”
