Or, Jacob, ayant vu qu'il y avait vente en Égypte, dit à ses fils : D'où vient votre nonchalance ?

Y VIENDO Jacob que en Egipto había alimentos, dijo á sus hijos: ¿Por qué os estáis mirando?

Now when Jacob saw that there was corn in Egypt, Jacob said unto his sons, Why do ye look one upon another?

Now Jacob saw that there was grain in Egypt, and Jacob said to his sons, “Why do you look at one another?”

Je sais qu'il y a du blé en Égypte ; descendez-y et achetez-nous un peu de blé, afin que nous vivions et ne mourions pas.

Y dijo: He aquí, yo he oído que hay víveres en Egipto; descended allá, y comprad de allí para nosotros, para que podamos vivir, y no nos muramos.

And he said, Behold, I have heard that there is corn in Egypt: get you down thither, and buy for us from thence; that we may live, and not die.

He said, “Behold, I have heard that there is grain in Egypt. Go down there, and buy for us from there, so that we may live, and not die.”

Et les dix frères de Joseph allèrent acheter du blé en Égypte.

Y descendieron los diez hermanos de José á comprar trigo á Egipto.

And Joseph’s ten brethren went down to buy corn in Egypt.

Joseph’s ten brothers went down to buy grain from Egypt.

Mais Jacob n'envoya pas, avec ses frères, Benjamin, le frère de Joseph : Car, dit-il, j'ai peur qu'une maladie ne le prenne en chemin.

Mas Jacob no envió á Benjamín hermano de José con sus hermanos; porque dijo: No sea acaso que le acontezca algún desastre.

But Benjamin, Joseph’s brother, Jacob sent not with his brethren; for he said, Lest peradventure mischief befall him.

But Jacob didn’t send Benjamin, Joseph’s brother, with his brothers; for he said, “Lest perhaps harm happen to him.”

Les fils de Jacob allèrent donc acheter, en compagnie de ceux qui partaient : car la famine était en la terre de Chanaan.

Y vinieron los hijos de Israel á comprar entre los que venían: porque había hambre en la tierra de Canaán.

And the sons of Israel came to buy corn among those that came: for the famine was in the land of Canaan.

Or, Joseph était le chef de la contrée, et il vendait à tous les peuples de la terre ; les frères de Joseph, étant arrivés, se prosternèrent devant lui, la face contre terre.

Y José era el señor de la tierra, que vendía á todo el pueblo de la tierra: y llegaron los hermanos de José, é inclináronse á él rostro por tierra.

And Joseph was the governor over the land, and he it was that sold to all the people of the land: and Joseph’s brethren came, and bowed down themselves before him with their faces to the earth.

À la vue de ses frères, Joseph les reconnut ; mais il ne se fit point connaître à eux ; il leur parla même avec sévérité, et il leur dit : D'où venez-vous ? Et ils dirent : De la terre de Chanaan, acheter du blé.

Y José como vió á sus hermanos, conociólos; mas hizo que no los conocía, y hablóles ásperamente, y les dijo: ¿De dónde habéis venido? Ellos respondieron: De la tierra de Canaán á comprar alimentos.

And Joseph saw his brethren, and he knew them, but made himself strange unto them, and spake roughly unto them; and he said unto them, Whence come ye? And they said, From the land of Canaan to buy food.

Joseph saw his brothers, and he recognized them, but acted like a stranger to them, and spoke roughly with them. He said to them, “Where did you come from?” They said, “From the land of Canaan, to buy food.”

Joseph reconnaissait bien ses frères, mais ils ne le reconnaissaient point.

José, pues, conoció á sus hermanos; pero ellos no le conocieron.

And Joseph knew his brethren, but they knew not him.

Joseph recognized his brothers, but they didn’t recognize him.

Il se souvint alors des songes qu'il avait eus, et il leur dit : Vous êtes des espions ; vous êtes venus épier ce qui se fait en la contrée.

Entonces se acordó José de los sueños que había tenido de ellos, y díjoles: Espías sois; por ver lo descubierto del país habéis venido.

And Joseph remembered the dreams which he dreamed of them, and said unto them, Ye are spies; to see the nakedness of the land ye are come.

Joseph remembered the dreams which he dreamed about them, and said to them, “You are spies! You have come to see the nakedness of the land.”

Et ils dirent : Non, seigneur, tes serviteurs sont venus acheter des vivres.

Y ellos le respondieron: No, señor mío: mas tus siervos han venido á comprar alimentos.

And they said unto him, Nay, my lord, but to buy food are thy servants come.

They said to him, “No, my lord, but your servants have come to buy food.

Nous sommes tous fils d'un seul homme, nous sommes pacifiques, et tes serviteurs ne sont pas des espions.

Todos nosotros somos hijos de un varón: somos hombres de verdad: tus siervos nunca fueron espías.

We are all one man’s sons; we are true men, thy servants are no spies.

We are all one man’s sons; we are honest men. Your servants are not spies.”

Non, reprit-il, vous êtes venus pour voir ce qui se fait en la contrée.

Y él les dijo: No; á ver lo descubierto del país habéis venido.

And he said unto them, Nay, but to see the nakedness of the land ye are come.

He said to them, “No, but you have come to see the nakedness of the land!”

Et ils dirent : Tes serviteurs étaient douze frères en la terre de Chanaan ; le plus jeune, est aujourd'hui avec notre père, et l'autre ne vit plus.

Y ellos respondieron: Tus siervos somos doce hermanos, hijos de un varón en la tierra de Canaán; y he aquí el menor está hoy con nuestro padre, y otro no parece.

And they said, Thy servants are twelve brethren, the sons of one man in the land of Canaan; and, behold, the youngest is this day with our father, and one is not.

They said, “We, your servants, are twelve brothers, the sons of one man in the land of Canaan; and behold, the youngest is today with our father, and one is no more.”

Joseph leur dit : C'est bien cela, c'est ce que je vous ai dit : vous êtes des espions ;

Y José les dijo: Eso es lo que os he dicho, afirmando que sois espías:

And Joseph said unto them, That is it that I spake unto you, saying, Ye are spies:

Joseph said to them, “It is like I told you, saying, ‘You are spies!’

C'est par là que vous serez reconnus. Par la santé du Pharaon ! vous ne sortirez pas d'ici que votre frère le plus jeune n'y soit venu.

En esto seréis probados: Vive Faraón que no saldréis de aquí, sino cuando vuestro hermano menor aquí viniere.

Hereby ye shall be proved: By the life of Pharaoh ye shall not go forth hence, except your youngest brother come hither.

By this you shall be tested. By the life of Pharaoh, you shall not go out from here, unless your youngest brother comes here.

Envoyez l'un de vous et qu'il amène votre frère ; en attendant, vous allez être retenus jusqu'à ce que vos paroles soient confirmées, et que l'on sache si vous dites vrai ou non. Si vous avez menti, par la santé du Pharaon ! vous êtes des espions.

Enviad uno de vosotros, y traiga á vuestro hermano; y vosotros quedad presos, y vuestras palabras serán probadas, si hay verdad con vosotros: y si no, vive Faraón, que sois espías.

Send one of you, and let him fetch your brother, and ye shall be kept in prison, that your words may be proved, whether there be any truth in you: or else by the life of Pharaoh surely ye are spies.

Send one of you, and let him get your brother, and you shall be bound, that your words may be tested, whether there is truth in you, or else by the life of Pharaoh surely you are spies.”

Et il les mit en prison trois jours.

Y juntólos en la cárcel por tres días.

And he put them all together into ward three days.

Le troisième jour venu, il leur dit : Faites ce que je vais vous dire, et vous vivrez, car je crains Dieu.

Y al tercer día díjoles José: Haced esto, y vivid: Yo temo á Dios:

And Joseph said unto them the third day, This do, and live; for I fear God:

Joseph said to them the third day, “Do this, and live, for I fear God.

Si vous êtes pacifiques, que l'un de vous reste en prison, et que les autres partent ; allez, emportez votre blé,

Si sois hombres de verdad, quede preso en la casa de vuestra cárcel uno de vuestros hermanos; y vosotros id, llevad el alimento para el hambre de vuestra casa:

If ye be true men, let one of your brethren be bound in the house of your prison: go ye, carry corn for the famine of your houses:

If you are honest men, then let one of your brothers be bound in your prison; but you go, carry grain for the famine of your houses.

Et amenez-moi votre frère le plus jeune : ainsi vos paroles seront confirmées ; si vous vous y refusez, apprêtez-vous à mourir. Et ils firent comme il avait dit.

Pero habéis de traerme á vuestro hermano menor, y serán verificadas vuestras palabras, y no moriréis. Y ellos lo hicieron así.

But bring your youngest brother unto me; so shall your words be verified, and ye shall not die. And they did so.

Bring your youngest brother to me; so will your words be verified, and you won’t die.” They did so.

Sur quoi, chacun dit à son frère : Oui, c'est mérité, car nous sommes coupables au sujet de notre frère ; nous n'avons eu aucun souci de l'affliction de son âme ; lorsqu'il nous suppliait, nous ne l'avons pas écouté ; c'est pourquoi cette affliction est tombée sur nous.

Y decían el uno al otro: Verdaderamente hemos pecado contra nuestro hermano, que vimos la angustia de su alma cuando nos rogaba, y no le oímos: por eso ha venido sobre nosotros esta angustia.

And they said one to another, We are verily guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the anguish of his soul, when he besought us, and we would not hear; therefore is this distress come upon us.

They said to one another, “We are certainly guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the distress of his soul, when he begged us, and we wouldn’t listen. Therefore this distress has come upon us.”

Ruben ajouta : Ne vous ai-je point dit : Ne maltraitez pas l'enfant ? Mais vous n'avez rien voulu entendre, et voilà que son sang est vengé.

Entonces Rubén les respondió, diciendo: ¿No os hablé yo y dije: No pequéis contra el mozo; y no escuchasteis? He aquí también su sangre es requerida.

And Reuben answered them, saying, Spake I not unto you, saying, Do not sin against the child; and ye would not hear? therefore, behold, also his blood is required.

Reuben answered them, saying, “Didn’t I tell you, saying, ‘Don’t sin against the child,’ and you wouldn’t listen? Therefore also, behold, his blood is required.”

Ils parlaient entre eux et ne savaient pas que Joseph les entendait, car il s'était servi avec eux d'un interprète.

Y ellos no sabían que los entendía José, porque había intérprete entre ellos.

And they knew not that Joseph understood them; for he spake unto them by an interpreter.

They didn’t know that Joseph understood them; for there was an interpreter between them.

Et Joseph, s'étant éloigné, pleura ; revenu auprès d'eux, il leur parla, prit Siméon, et l'enchaîna devant eux.

Y apartóse él de ellos, y lloró: después volvió á ellos, y les habló, y tomó de entre ellos á Simeón, y aprisionóle á vista de ellos.

And he turned himself about from them, and wept; and returned to them again, and communed with them, and took from them Simeon, and bound him before their eyes.

He turned himself away from them, and wept. Then he returned to them, and spoke to them, and took Simeon from among them, and bound him before their eyes.

Cependant, Joseph ordonna qu'on remplit leurs sacs, que dans chacun on remît l'argent, et qu'on leur donnât des vivres pour la route ; et il fut fait comme il avait dit.

Y mandó José que llenaran sus sacos de trigo, y devolviesen el dinero de cada uno de ellos, poniéndolo en su saco, y les diesen comida para el camino: é hízose así con ellos.

Then Joseph commanded to fill their sacks with corn, and to restore every man’s money into his sack, and to give them provision for the way: and thus did he unto them.

Then Joseph gave a command to fill their bags with grain, and to restore each man’s money into his sack, and to give them food for the way. So it was done to them.

Après avoir chargé le blé sur leurs ânes, ils se mirent en route.

Y ellos pusieron su trigo sobre sus asnos, y fuéronse de allí.

And they laded their asses with the corn, and departed thence.

They loaded their donkeys with their grain, and departed from there.

Or, l'un d'eux, ayant délié son sac pour faire manger les ânes à la première halte, vit, à l'entrée du sac, sa bourse d'argent.

Y abriendo uno de ellos su saco para dar de comer á su asno en el mesón, vió su dinero que estaba en la boca de su costal.

And as one of them opened his sack to give his ass provender in the inn, he espied his money; for, behold, it was in his sack’s mouth.

As one of them opened his sack to give his donkey food in the lodging place, he saw his money. Behold, it was in the mouth of his sack.

Et il dit à ses frères : L'argent m'a été rendu, le voici dans mon sac ; leur cœur fut saisi, ils se troublèrent ; car ils se disaient les uns aux autres : Pourquoi Dieu nous a-t-il fait cela ?

Y dijo á sus hermanos: Mi dinero se me ha devuelto, y aun helo aquí en mi saco. Sobresaltóseles entonces el corazón, y espantados dijeron el uno al otro: ¿Qué es esto que nos ha hecho Dios?

And he said unto his brethren, My money is restored; and, lo, it is even in my sack: and their heart failed them, and they were afraid, saying one to another, What is this that God hath done unto us?

He said to his brothers, “My money is restored! Behold, it is in my sack!” Their hearts failed them, and they turned trembling to one another, saying, “What is this that God has done to us?”

Arrivés chez Jacob, leur père, en la terre de Chanaan, ils lui racontèrent tout ce qui leur était advenu, disant :

Y venidos á Jacob su padre en tierra de Canaán, contáronle todo lo que les había acaecido, diciendo:

And they came unto Jacob their father unto the land of Canaan, and told him all that befell unto them; saying,

They came to Jacob their father, to the land of Canaan, and told him all that had happened to them, saying,

L'homme maître de la contrée nous a parlé sévèrement, et il nous a emprisonnés comme espions.

Aquel varón, señor de la tierra, nos habló ásperamente, y nos trató como á espías de la tierra:

The man, who is the lord of the land, spake roughly to us, and took us for spies of the country.

“The man, the lord of the land, spoke roughly with us, and took us for spies of the country.

Nous lui avons dit : Nous sommes pacifiques, nous ne sommes point des espions.

Y nosotros le dijimos: Somos hombres de verdad, nunca fuimos espías:

And we said unto him, We are true men; we are no spies:

We said to him, ‘We are honest men. We are no spies.

Nous étions douze frères, fils du même père ; l'un ne vit plus, et le plus jeune est aujourd'hui avec notre père, en la terre de Chanaan.

Somos doce hermanos, hijos de nuestro padre; uno no parece, y el menor está hoy con nuestro padre en la tierra de Canaán.

We be twelve brethren, sons of our father; one is not, and the youngest is this day with our father in the land of Canaan.

We are twelve brothers, sons of our father; one is no more, and the youngest is today with our father in the land of Canaan.’

Mais l'homme maître de la contrée nous a dit : Vous me donnez vous-mêmes le moyen de savoir si vous n'êtes pas des espions, et si vous êtes pacifiques : laissez-moi l'un de vous, et, prenant les vivres que vous avez achetés pour votre maison, partez.

Y aquel varón, señor de la tierra, nos dijo: En esto conoceré que sois hombres de verdad; dejad conmigo uno de vuestros hermanos, y tomad para el hambre de vuestras casas, y andad,

And the man, the lord of the country, said unto us, Hereby shall I know that ye are true men; leave one of your brethren here with me, and take food for the famine of your households, and be gone:

The man, the lord of the land, said to us, ‘By this I will know that you are honest men: leave one of your brothers with me, and take grain for the famine of your houses, and go your way.

Allez me chercher votre plus jeune frère : je connaîtrai alors que vous n'êtes point des espions, mais que vous êtes pacifiques ; je vous rendrai votre frère, et vous pourrez négocier en ce pays.

Y traedme á vuestro hermano el menor, para que yo sepa que no sois espías, sino hombres de verdad: así os daré á vuestro hermano, y negociaréis en la tierra.

And bring your youngest brother unto me: then shall I know that ye are no spies, but that ye are true men: so will I deliver you your brother, and ye shall traffick in the land.

Bring your youngest brother to me. Then I will know that you are not spies, but that you are honest men. So I will deliver your brother to you, and you shall trade in the land.’”

Or, lorsqu'ils vidèrent leurs sacs, chacun trouva dans son sac sa bourse d'argent ; ils virent les bourses d'argent, leur père les vit aussi, et ils eurent crainte.

Y aconteció que vaciando ellos sus sacos, he aquí que en el saco de cada uno estaba el atado de su dinero: y viendo ellos y su padre los atados de su dinero, tuvieron temor.

And it came to pass as they emptied their sacks, that, behold, every man’s bundle of money was in his sack: and when both they and their father saw the bundles of money, they were afraid.

As they emptied their sacks, behold, each man’s bundle of money was in his sack. When they and their father saw their bundles of money, they were afraid.

Sur quoi Jacob, leur père, s'écria : Vous m'avez privé de mes enfants. Joseph n'est plus ; Siméon n'est plus ; me prendrez-vous aussi Benjamin ? C'est sur moi que tout tombe.

Entonces su padre Jacob les dijo: Habéisme privado de mis hijos; José no parece, ni Simeón tampoco, y á Benjamín le llevaréis: contra mí son todas estas cosas.

And Jacob their father said unto them, Me have ye bereaved of my children: Joseph is not, and Simeon is not, and ye will take Benjamin away: all these things are against me.

Jacob, their father, said to them, “You have bereaved me of my children! Joseph is no more, Simeon is no more, and you want to take Benjamin away. All these things are against me.”

Ruben répondit à son père : Fais mourir mes deux fils si je ne te ramène le tien ; remets-le entre mes mains, et je le reconduirai près de toi.

Y Rubén habló á su padre, diciendo: Harás morir á mis dos hijos, si no te lo volviere; entrégalo en mi mano, que yo lo volveré á ti.

And Reuben spake unto his father, saying, Slay my two sons, if I bring him not to thee: deliver him into my hand, and I will bring him to thee again.

Reuben spoke to his father, saying, “Kill my two sons, if I don’t bring him to you. Entrust him to my care, and I will bring him to you again.”

Mais Jacob dit : Mon fils ne partira pas avec vous ; son frère est mort, celui-ci seul m'est resté ; une maladie le prendra dans le chemin où vous irez, et, de tristesse, vous ferez descendre ma vieillesse au sein de la terre.

Y él dijo: No descenderá mi hijo con vosotros; que su hermano es muerto, y él solo ha quedado: y si le aconteciere algún desastre en el camino por donde vais, haréis descender mis canas con dolor á la sepultura.

And he said, My son shall not go down with you; for his brother is dead, and he is left alone: if mischief befall him by the way in the which ye go, then shall ye bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave.

He said, “My son shall not go down with you; for his brother is dead, and he only is left. If harm happens to him along the way in which you go, then you will bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to Sheol.”
