Und Jakob sah, dass Getreide in Ägypten war, und Jakob sprach zu seinen Söhnen: Was seht ihr einander an?

Y VIENDO Jacob que en Egipto había alimentos, dijo á sus hijos: ¿Por qué os estáis mirando?

Now when Jacob saw that there was corn in Egypt, Jacob said unto his sons, Why do ye look one upon another?

Now Jacob saw that there was grain in Egypt, and Jacob said to his sons, “Why do you look at one another?”

Und er sprach: Siehe, ich habe gehört, dass Getreide in Ägypten ist; zieht hinab und kauft uns von dort Getreide, dass wir leben und nicht sterben.

Y dijo: He aquí, yo he oído que hay víveres en Egipto; descended allá, y comprad de allí para nosotros, para que podamos vivir, y no nos muramos.

And he said, Behold, I have heard that there is corn in Egypt: get you down thither, and buy for us from thence; that we may live, and not die.

He said, “Behold, I have heard that there is grain in Egypt. Go down there, and buy for us from there, so that we may live, and not die.”

Und die zehn Brüder Josephs zogen hinab, um Getreide aus Ägypten zu kaufen.

Y descendieron los diez hermanos de José á comprar trigo á Egipto.

And Joseph’s ten brethren went down to buy corn in Egypt.

Aber Benjamin, Josephs Bruder, sandte Jakob nicht mit seinen Brüdern; denn er sprach: Dass ihm nicht etwa ein Unfall begegne.

Mas Jacob no envió á Benjamín hermano de José con sus hermanos; porque dijo: No sea acaso que le acontezca algún desastre.

But Benjamin, Joseph’s brother, Jacob sent not with his brethren; for he said, Lest peradventure mischief befall him.

But Jacob didn’t send Benjamin, Joseph’s brother, with his brothers; for he said, “Lest perhaps harm happen to him.”

Und so kamen die Söhne Israels unter den Ankommenden, um Getreide zu kaufen; denn die Hungersnot war im Land Kanaan.

Y vinieron los hijos de Israel á comprar entre los que venían: porque había hambre en la tierra de Canaán.

And the sons of Israel came to buy corn among those that came: for the famine was in the land of Canaan.

Und Joseph, er war der Gebieter über das Land, er verkaufte das Getreide allem Volk des Landes. Und die Brüder Josephs kamen und beugten sich vor ihm nieder, mit dem Gesicht zur Erde.

Y José era el señor de la tierra, que vendía á todo el pueblo de la tierra: y llegaron los hermanos de José, é inclináronse á él rostro por tierra.

And Joseph was the governor over the land, and he it was that sold to all the people of the land: and Joseph’s brethren came, and bowed down themselves before him with their faces to the earth.

Joseph was the governor over the land. It was he who sold to all the people of the land. Joseph’s brothers came, and bowed themselves down to him with their faces to the earth.

Und Joseph sah seine Brüder und erkannte sie; aber er stellte sich fremd gegen sie und redete hart mit ihnen und sprach zu ihnen: Woher kommt ihr? Und sie sprachen: Aus dem Land Kanaan, um Speise zu kaufen.

Y José como vió á sus hermanos, conociólos; mas hizo que no los conocía, y hablóles ásperamente, y les dijo: ¿De dónde habéis venido? Ellos respondieron: De la tierra de Canaán á comprar alimentos.

And Joseph saw his brethren, and he knew them, but made himself strange unto them, and spake roughly unto them; and he said unto them, Whence come ye? And they said, From the land of Canaan to buy food.

Joseph saw his brothers, and he recognized them, but acted like a stranger to them, and spoke roughly with them. He said to them, “Where did you come from?” They said, “From the land of Canaan, to buy food.”

Und Joseph erkannte seine Brüder; sie aber erkannten ihn nicht.

José, pues, conoció á sus hermanos; pero ellos no le conocieron.

And Joseph knew his brethren, but they knew not him.

Joseph recognized his brothers, but they didn’t recognize him.

Und Joseph gedachte der Träume, die er von ihnen gehabt hatte, und er sprach zu ihnen: Ihr seid Kundschafter; um zu sehen, wo das Land offen ist, seid ihr gekommen.

Entonces se acordó José de los sueños que había tenido de ellos, y díjoles: Espías sois; por ver lo descubierto del país habéis venido.

And Joseph remembered the dreams which he dreamed of them, and said unto them, Ye are spies; to see the nakedness of the land ye are come.

Joseph remembered the dreams which he dreamed about them, and said to them, “You are spies! You have come to see the nakedness of the land.”

Da sprachen sie zu ihm: Nein, mein Herr; sondern deine Knechte sind gekommen, um Speise zu kaufen.

Y ellos le respondieron: No, señor mío: mas tus siervos han venido á comprar alimentos.

And they said unto him, Nay, my lord, but to buy food are thy servants come.

They said to him, “No, my lord, but your servants have come to buy food.

Wir alle sind eines Mannes Söhne; wir sind redlich, deine Knechte sind nicht Kundschafter.

Todos nosotros somos hijos de un varón: somos hombres de verdad: tus siervos nunca fueron espías.

We are all one man’s sons; we are true men, thy servants are no spies.

We are all one man’s sons; we are honest men. Your servants are not spies.”

Und er sprach zu ihnen: Nein, sondern ihr seid gekommen, um zu sehen, wo das Land offen ist.

Y él les dijo: No; á ver lo descubierto del país habéis venido.

And he said unto them, Nay, but to see the nakedness of the land ye are come.

He said to them, “No, but you have come to see the nakedness of the land!”

Und sie sprachen: Zwölf Brüder sind wir, deine Knechte, Söhne eines Mannes im Land Kanaan; und siehe, der jüngste ist heute bei unserem Vater, und der eine ist nicht mehr.

Y ellos respondieron: Tus siervos somos doce hermanos, hijos de un varón en la tierra de Canaán; y he aquí el menor está hoy con nuestro padre, y otro no parece.

And they said, Thy servants are twelve brethren, the sons of one man in the land of Canaan; and, behold, the youngest is this day with our father, and one is not.

They said, “We, your servants, are twelve brothers, the sons of one man in the land of Canaan; and behold, the youngest is today with our father, and one is no more.”

Da sprach Joseph zu ihnen: Das ist es, was ich zu euch gesagt habe: Kundschafter seid ihr!

Y José les dijo: Eso es lo que os he dicho, afirmando que sois espías:

And Joseph said unto them, That is it that I spake unto you, saying, Ye are spies:

Joseph said to them, “It is like I told you, saying, ‘You are spies!’

Daran sollt ihr geprüft werden: Beim Leben des Pharaos! Wenn ihr von hier weggeht, es sei denn, dass euer jüngster Bruder hierher komme!

En esto seréis probados: Vive Faraón que no saldréis de aquí, sino cuando vuestro hermano menor aquí viniere.

Hereby ye shall be proved: By the life of Pharaoh ye shall not go forth hence, except your youngest brother come hither.

By this you shall be tested. By the life of Pharaoh, you shall not go out from here, unless your youngest brother comes here.

Sendet einen von euch hin, dass er euren Bruder hole; ihr aber bleibt gefangen, und eure Worte sollen geprüft werden, ob Wahrheit bei euch ist; und wenn nicht, beim Leben des Pharaos! So seid ihr Kundschafter.

Enviad uno de vosotros, y traiga á vuestro hermano; y vosotros quedad presos, y vuestras palabras serán probadas, si hay verdad con vosotros: y si no, vive Faraón, que sois espías.

Send one of you, and let him fetch your brother, and ye shall be kept in prison, that your words may be proved, whether there be any truth in you: or else by the life of Pharaoh surely ye are spies.

Send one of you, and let him get your brother, and you shall be bound, that your words may be tested, whether there is truth in you, or else by the life of Pharaoh surely you are spies.”

Und er setzte sie drei Tage zusammen in Gewahrsam.

Y juntólos en la cárcel por tres días.

And he put them all together into ward three days.

Und am dritten Tag sprach Joseph zu ihnen: Tut dieses, und ihr sollt leben; ich fürchte Gott:

Y al tercer día díjoles José: Haced esto, y vivid: Yo temo á Dios:

And Joseph said unto them the third day, This do, and live; for I fear God:

Joseph said to them the third day, “Do this, and live, for I fear God.

Wenn ihr redlich seid, so bleibe einer eurer Brüder gefangen im Haus eures Gewahrsams; ihr aber, zieht hin, bringt Getreide für den Bedarf eurer Häuser;

Si sois hombres de verdad, quede preso en la casa de vuestra cárcel uno de vuestros hermanos; y vosotros id, llevad el alimento para el hambre de vuestra casa:

If ye be true men, let one of your brethren be bound in the house of your prison: go ye, carry corn for the famine of your houses:

If you are honest men, then let one of your brothers be bound in your prison; but you go, carry grain for the famine of your houses.

und euren jüngsten Bruder sollt ihr zu mir bringen, dass eure Worte sich bewähren, und ihr nicht sterbt. Und sie taten so.

Pero habéis de traerme á vuestro hermano menor, y serán verificadas vuestras palabras, y no moriréis. Y ellos lo hicieron así.

But bring your youngest brother unto me; so shall your words be verified, and ye shall not die. And they did so.

Bring your youngest brother to me; so will your words be verified, and you won’t die.” They did so.

Da sprachen sie einer zum anderen: Wirklich, wir sind schuldig wegen unseres Bruders, dessen Seelenangst wir sahen, als er zu uns flehte, und wir hörten nicht; darum ist diese Drangsal über uns gekommen.

Y decían el uno al otro: Verdaderamente hemos pecado contra nuestro hermano, que vimos la angustia de su alma cuando nos rogaba, y no le oímos: por eso ha venido sobre nosotros esta angustia.

And they said one to another, We are verily guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the anguish of his soul, when he besought us, and we would not hear; therefore is this distress come upon us.

They said to one another, “We are certainly guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the distress of his soul, when he begged us, and we wouldn’t listen. Therefore this distress has come upon us.”

Und Ruben antwortete ihnen und sprach: Habe ich nicht zu euch gesprochen und gesagt: Versündigt euch nicht an dem Knaben? Aber ihr hörtet nicht; und siehe, sein Blut wird auch gefordert!

Entonces Rubén les respondió, diciendo: ¿No os hablé yo y dije: No pequéis contra el mozo; y no escuchasteis? He aquí también su sangre es requerida.

And Reuben answered them, saying, Spake I not unto you, saying, Do not sin against the child; and ye would not hear? therefore, behold, also his blood is required.

Reuben answered them, saying, “Didn’t I tell you, saying, ‘Don’t sin against the child,’ and you wouldn’t listen? Therefore also, behold, his blood is required.”

Sie aber wussten nicht, dass Joseph es verstand, denn ein Dolmetscher war zwischen ihnen.

Y ellos no sabían que los entendía José, porque había intérprete entre ellos.

And they knew not that Joseph understood them; for he spake unto them by an interpreter.

They didn’t know that Joseph understood them; for there was an interpreter between them.

Und er wandte sich von ihnen ab und weinte. Und er kehrte zu ihnen zurück und redete zu ihnen; und er nahm Simeon aus ihrer Mitte und band ihn vor ihren Augen.

Y apartóse él de ellos, y lloró: después volvió á ellos, y les habló, y tomó de entre ellos á Simeón, y aprisionóle á vista de ellos.

And he turned himself about from them, and wept; and returned to them again, and communed with them, and took from them Simeon, and bound him before their eyes.

He turned himself away from them, and wept. Then he returned to them, and spoke to them, and took Simeon from among them, and bound him before their eyes.

Und Joseph gebot, dass man ihre Gefäße mit Getreide fülle und ihr Geld zurückgebe, jedem in seinen Sack, und ihnen Zehrung gebe auf den Weg. Und man tat ihnen so.

Y mandó José que llenaran sus sacos de trigo, y devolviesen el dinero de cada uno de ellos, poniéndolo en su saco, y les diesen comida para el camino: é hízose así con ellos.

Then Joseph commanded to fill their sacks with corn, and to restore every man’s money into his sack, and to give them provision for the way: and thus did he unto them.

Then Joseph gave a command to fill their bags with grain, and to restore each man’s money into his sack, and to give them food for the way. So it was done to them.

Und sie luden ihr Getreide auf ihre Esel und zogen von dort weg.

Y ellos pusieron su trigo sobre sus asnos, y fuéronse de allí.

And they laded their asses with the corn, and departed thence.

They loaded their donkeys with their grain, and departed from there.

Und einer öffnete seinen Sack, um seinem Esel in der Herberge Futter zu geben; und er sah sein Geld, und siehe, es war oben in seinem Sacke.

Y abriendo uno de ellos su saco para dar de comer á su asno en el mesón, vió su dinero que estaba en la boca de su costal.

And as one of them opened his sack to give his ass provender in the inn, he espied his money; for, behold, it was in his sack’s mouth.

As one of them opened his sack to give his donkey food in the lodging place, he saw his money. Behold, it was in the mouth of his sack.

Und er sprach zu seinen Brüdern: Mein Geld ist mir wieder geworden, und siehe, es ist sogar in meinem Sack. Da entfiel ihnen das Herz, und sie sahen einander erschrocken an und sprachen: Was hat Gott uns da getan!

Y dijo á sus hermanos: Mi dinero se me ha devuelto, y aun helo aquí en mi saco. Sobresaltóseles entonces el corazón, y espantados dijeron el uno al otro: ¿Qué es esto que nos ha hecho Dios?

And he said unto his brethren, My money is restored; and, lo, it is even in my sack: and their heart failed them, and they were afraid, saying one to another, What is this that God hath done unto us?

He said to his brothers, “My money is restored! Behold, it is in my sack!” Their hearts failed them, and they turned trembling to one another, saying, “What is this that God has done to us?”

Und sie kamen in das Land Kanaan zu ihrem Vater Jakob und berichteten ihm alles, was ihnen widerfahren war, und sprachen:

Y venidos á Jacob su padre en tierra de Canaán, contáronle todo lo que les había acaecido, diciendo:

And they came unto Jacob their father unto the land of Canaan, and told him all that befell unto them; saying,

They came to Jacob their father, to the land of Canaan, and told him all that had happened to them, saying,

Der Mann, der Herr des Landes, redete hart mit uns und behandelte uns wie Kundschafter des Landes.

Aquel varón, señor de la tierra, nos habló ásperamente, y nos trató como á espías de la tierra:

The man, who is the lord of the land, spake roughly to us, and took us for spies of the country.

“The man, the lord of the land, spoke roughly with us, and took us for spies of the country.

Und wir sprachen zu ihm: Wir sind redlich, wir sind nicht Kundschafter;

Y nosotros le dijimos: Somos hombres de verdad, nunca fuimos espías:

And we said unto him, We are true men; we are no spies:

We said to him, ‘We are honest men. We are no spies.

zwölf Brüder sind wir, Söhne unseres Vaters; der eine ist nicht mehr, und der jüngste ist heute bei unserem Vater im Land Kanaan.

Somos doce hermanos, hijos de nuestro padre; uno no parece, y el menor está hoy con nuestro padre en la tierra de Canaán.

We be twelve brethren, sons of our father; one is not, and the youngest is this day with our father in the land of Canaan.

We are twelve brothers, sons of our father; one is no more, and the youngest is today with our father in the land of Canaan.’

Und der Mann, der Herr des Landes, sprach zu uns: Daran werde ich erkennen, dass ihr redlich seid: Einen eurer Brüder lasst bei mir, und nehmt den Bedarf eurer Häuser und zieht hin;

Y aquel varón, señor de la tierra, nos dijo: En esto conoceré que sois hombres de verdad; dejad conmigo uno de vuestros hermanos, y tomad para el hambre de vuestras casas, y andad,

And the man, the lord of the country, said unto us, Hereby shall I know that ye are true men; leave one of your brethren here with me, and take food for the famine of your households, and be gone:

The man, the lord of the land, said to us, ‘By this I will know that you are honest men: leave one of your brothers with me, and take grain for the famine of your houses, and go your way.

und bringt ihr euren jüngsten Bruder zu mir, so werde ich erkennen, dass ihr nicht Kundschafter, sondern redlich seid; euren Bruder werde ich euch zurückgeben, und ihr mögt im Land verkehren.

Y traedme á vuestro hermano el menor, para que yo sepa que no sois espías, sino hombres de verdad: así os daré á vuestro hermano, y negociaréis en la tierra.

And bring your youngest brother unto me: then shall I know that ye are no spies, but that ye are true men: so will I deliver you your brother, and ye shall traffick in the land.

Bring your youngest brother to me. Then I will know that you are not spies, but that you are honest men. So I will deliver your brother to you, and you shall trade in the land.’”

Und es geschah, als sie ihre Säcke leerten, siehe, da hatte jeder sein Geldbündel in seinem Sack; und sie sahen ihre Geldbündel, sie und ihr Vater, und sie fürchteten sich.

Y aconteció que vaciando ellos sus sacos, he aquí que en el saco de cada uno estaba el atado de su dinero: y viendo ellos y su padre los atados de su dinero, tuvieron temor.

And it came to pass as they emptied their sacks, that, behold, every man’s bundle of money was in his sack: and when both they and their father saw the bundles of money, they were afraid.

As they emptied their sacks, behold, each man’s bundle of money was in his sack. When they and their father saw their bundles of money, they were afraid.

Und ihr Vater Jakob sprach zu ihnen: Ihr habt mich der Kinder beraubt: Joseph ist nicht mehr, und Simeon ist nicht mehr; und Benjamin wollt ihr nehmen! Dies alles kommt über mich!

Entonces su padre Jacob les dijo: Habéisme privado de mis hijos; José no parece, ni Simeón tampoco, y á Benjamín le llevaréis: contra mí son todas estas cosas.

And Jacob their father said unto them, Me have ye bereaved of my children: Joseph is not, and Simeon is not, and ye will take Benjamin away: all these things are against me.

Jacob, their father, said to them, “You have bereaved me of my children! Joseph is no more, Simeon is no more, and you want to take Benjamin away. All these things are against me.”

Und Ruben sprach zu seinem Vater und sagte: Meine beiden Söhne darfst du töten, wenn ich ihn nicht zu dir zurückbringe. Gib ihn in meine Hand, und ich werde ihn zu dir zurückbringen.

Y Rubén habló á su padre, diciendo: Harás morir á mis dos hijos, si no te lo volviere; entrégalo en mi mano, que yo lo volveré á ti.

And Reuben spake unto his father, saying, Slay my two sons, if I bring him not to thee: deliver him into my hand, and I will bring him to thee again.

Reuben spoke to his father, saying, “Kill my two sons, if I don’t bring him to you. Entrust him to my care, and I will bring him to you again.”

Er aber sprach: Mein Sohn soll nicht mit euch hinabziehen; denn sein Bruder ist tot, und er allein ist übriggeblieben, und begegnete ihm ein Unfall auf dem Weg, auf dem ihr zieht, so würdet ihr mein graues Haar mit Kummer hinabbringen in den Scheol.

Y él dijo: No descenderá mi hijo con vosotros; que su hermano es muerto, y él solo ha quedado: y si le aconteciere algún desastre en el camino por donde vais, haréis descender mis canas con dolor á la sepultura.

And he said, My son shall not go down with you; for his brother is dead, and he is left alone: if mischief befall him by the way in the which ye go, then shall ye bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave.

He said, “My son shall not go down with you; for his brother is dead, and he only is left. If harm happens to him along the way in which you go, then you will bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to Sheol.”
