Génesis 40

Now after these things the chief servant who had the care of the wine, and the chief bread-maker in Pharaoh's house, did something against Pharaoh's orders;

Y ACONTECIÓ después de estas cosas, que el copero del rey de Egipto y el panadero delinquieron contra su señor el rey de Egipto.

And it came to pass after these things, that the butler of the king of Egypt and his baker had offended their lord the king of Egypt.

And Pharaoh was angry with his two servants, with the chief wine-servant and the chief bread-maker;

Y enojóse Faraón contra sus dos eunucos, contra el principal de los coperos, y contra el principal de los panaderos:

And Pharaoh was wroth against two of his officers, against the chief of the butlers, and against the chief of the bakers.

Pharaoh was angry with his two officers, the chief cup bearer and the chief baker.

And he put them in prison under the care of the captain of the army, in the same prison where Joseph himself was shut up.

Y púsolos en prisión en la casa del capitán de los de la guardia, en la casa de la cárcel donde José estaba preso.

And he put them in ward in the house of the captain of the guard, into the prison, the place where Joseph was bound.

He put them in custody in the house of the captain of the guard, into the prison, the place where Joseph was bound.

And the captain put them in Joseph's care, and he did what was needed for them; and they were kept in prison for some time.

Y el capitán de los de la guardia dió cargo de ellos á José, y él les servía: y estuvieron días en la prisión.

And the captain of the guard charged Joseph with them, and he served them: and they continued a season in ward.

The captain of the guard assigned them to Joseph, and he took care of them. They stayed in prison many days.

And these two had a dream on the same night; the chief wine-servant and the chief bread-maker of the king of Egypt, who were in prison, the two of them had dreams with a special sense.

Y ambos á dos, el copero y el panadero del rey de Egipto, que estaban arrestados en la prisión, vieron un sueño, cada uno su sueño en una misma noche, cada uno conforme á la declaración de su sueño.

And they dreamed a dream both of them, each man his dream in one night, each man according to the interpretation of his dream, the butler and the baker of the king of Egypt, which were bound in the prison.

And in the morning when Joseph came to them he saw that they were looking sad.

Y vino á ellos José por la mañana, y mirólos, y he aquí que estaban tristes.

And Joseph came in unto them in the morning, and looked upon them, and, behold, they were sad.

And he said to the servants of Pharaoh who were in prison with him, Why are you looking so sad?

Y él preguntó á aquellos eunucos de Faraón, que estaban con él en la prisión de la casa de su señor, diciendo: ¿Por qué parecen hoy mal vuestros semblantes?

And he asked Pharaoh’s officers that were with him in the ward of his lord’s house, saying, Wherefore look ye so sadly to day?

He asked Pharaoh’s officers who were with him in custody in his master’s house, saying, “Why do you look so sad today?”

Then they said to him, We have had a dream, and no one is able to give us the sense. And Joseph said, Does not the sense of dreams come from God? what was your dream?

Y ellos le dijeron: Hemos tenido un sueño, y no hay quien lo declare. Entonces les dijo José: ¿No son de Dios las declaraciones? Contádmelo ahora.

And they said unto him, We have dreamed a dream, and there is no interpreter of it. And Joseph said unto them, Do not interpretations belong to God? tell me them, I pray you.

They said to him, “We have dreamed a dream, and there is no one who can interpret it.” Joseph said to them, “Don’t interpretations belong to God? Please tell it to me.”

Then the chief wine-servant gave Joseph an account of his dream, and said, In my dream I saw a vine before me;

Entonces el principal de los coperos contó su sueño á José, y díjole: Yo soñaba que veía una vid delante de mí,

And the chief butler told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, In my dream, behold, a vine was before me;

The chief cup bearer told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, “In my dream, behold, a vine was in front of me,

And on the vine were three branches; and it seemed as if it put out buds and flowers, and from them came grapes ready for cutting.

Y en la vid tres sarmientos; y ella como que brotaba, y arrojaba su flor, viniendo á madurar sus racimos de uvas:

And in the vine were three branches: and it was as though it budded, and her blossoms shot forth; and the clusters thereof brought forth ripe grapes:

and in the vine were three branches. It was as though it budded, it blossomed, and its clusters produced ripe grapes.

And Pharaoh's cup was in my hand, and I took the grapes and crushing them into Pharaoh's cup, gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand.

Y que la copa de Faraón estaba en mi mano, y tomaba yo las uvas, y las exprimía en la copa de Faraón, y daba yo la copa en mano de Faraón.

And Pharaoh’s cup was in my hand: and I took the grapes, and pressed them into Pharaoh’s cup, and I gave the cup into Pharaoh’s hand.

Then Joseph said, This is the sense of your dream: the three branches are three days;

Y díjole José: Esta es su declaración: Los tres sarmientos son tres días:

And Joseph said unto him, This is the interpretation of it: The three branches are three days:

Joseph said to him, “This is its interpretation: the three branches are three days.

After three days Pharaoh will give you honour, and put you back into your place, and you will give him his cup as you did before, when you were his wine-servant.

Al cabo de tres días Faraón te hará levantar cabeza, y te restituirá á tu puesto: y darás la copa á Faraón en su mano, como solías cuando eras su copero.

Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thine head, and restore thee unto thy place: and thou shalt deliver Pharaoh’s cup into his hand, after the former manner when thou wast his butler.

Within three more days, Pharaoh will lift up your head, and restore you to your office. You will give Pharaoh’s cup into his hand, the way you did when you were his cup bearer.

But keep me in mind when things go well for you, and be good to me and say a good word for me to Pharaoh and get me out of this prison:

Acuérdate, pues, de mí para contigo cuando tuvieres ese bien, y ruégote que uses conmigo de misericordia, y hagas mención de mí á Faraón, y me saques de esta casa:

But think on me when it shall be well with thee, and shew kindness, I pray thee, unto me, and make mention of me unto Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house:

But remember me when it is well with you. Please show kindness to me, and make mention of me to Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house.

For truly I was taken by force from the land of the Hebrews; and I have done nothing for which I might be put in prison.

Porque hurtado he sido de la tierra de los Hebreos; y tampoco he hecho aquí porqué me hubiesen de poner en la cárcel.

For indeed I was stolen away out of the land of the Hebrews: and here also have I done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon.

For indeed, I was stolen away out of the land of the Hebrews, and here also I have done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon.”

Now when the chief bread-maker saw that the first dream had a good sense, he said to Joseph, I had a dream; and in my dream there were three baskets of white bread on my head;

Y viendo el principal de los panaderos que había declarado para bien, dijo á José: También yo soñaba que veía tres canastillos blancos sobre mi cabeza;

When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said unto Joseph, I also was in my dream, and, behold, I had three white baskets on my head:

When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said to Joseph, “I also was in my dream, and behold, three baskets of white bread were on my head.

And in the top basket were all sorts of cooked meats for Pharaoh; and the birds were taking them out of the baskets on my head.

Y en el canastillo más alto había de todas las viandas de Faraón, obra de panadero; y que las aves las comían del canastillo de sobre mi cabeza.

And in the uppermost basket there was of all manner of bakemeats for Pharaoh; and the birds did eat them out of the basket upon my head.

In the uppermost basket there were all kinds of baked food for Pharaoh, and the birds ate them out of the basket on my head.”

Then Joseph said, This is the sense of your dream: the three baskets are three days;

Entonces respondió José, y dijo: Esta es su declaración: Los tres canastillos tres días son;

And Joseph answered and said, This is the interpretation thereof: The three baskets are three days:

Joseph answered, “This is its interpretation. The three baskets are three days.

After three days Pharaoh will take you out of prison, hanging you on a tree, so that your flesh will be food for birds.

Al cabo de tres días quitará Faraón tu cabeza de sobre ti, y te hará colgar en la horca, y las aves comerán tu carne de sobre ti.

Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thy head from off thee, and shall hang thee on a tree; and the birds shall eat thy flesh from off thee.

Within three more days, Pharaoh will lift up your head from off you, and will hang you on a tree; and the birds will eat your flesh from off you.”

Now the third day was Pharaoh's birthday, and he gave a feast for all his servants; and he gave honour to the chief wine-servant and the chief bread-maker among the others.

Y fué el tercero día el día del nacimiento de Faraón, é hizo banquete á todos sus sirvientes: y alzó la cabeza del principal de los coperos, y la cabeza del principal de los panaderos, entre sus servidores.

And it came to pass the third day, which was Pharaoh’s birthday, that he made a feast unto all his servants: and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and of the chief baker among his servants.

On the third day, which was Pharaoh’s birthday, he made a feast for all his servants, and he lifted up the head of the chief cup bearer and the head of the chief baker among his servants.

And he put the chief wine-servant back in his old place; and he gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand.

E hizo volver á su oficio al principal de los coperos; y dió él la copa en mano de Faraón.

And he restored the chief butler unto his butlership again; and he gave the cup into Pharaoh’s hand:

He restored the chief cup bearer to his position again, and he gave the cup into Pharaoh’s hand;

But the chief bread-maker was put to death by hanging, as Joseph had said.

Mas hizo ahorcar al principal de los panaderos, como le había declarado José.

But he hanged the chief baker: as Joseph had interpreted to them.

but he hanged the chief baker, as Joseph had interpreted to them.

But the wine-servant did not keep Joseph in mind or give a thought to him.

Y el principal de los coperos no se acordó de José, sino que le olvidó.

Yet did not the chief butler remember Joseph, but forgat him.

Yet the chief cup bearer didn’t remember Joseph, but forgot him.
