Und Jakob wohnte im Lande der Wanderungen seines Vaters, im Lande Kanaan.

Y HABITÓ Jacob en la tierra donde peregrinó su padre, en la tierra de Canaán.

And Jacob dwelt in the land wherein his father was a stranger, in the land of Canaan.

Das sind die Geburten Jakobs. Joseph war siebzehn Jahre alt, er war mit seinen Brüdern ein Hirte beim Kleinvieh. Und der Junge war bei den Söhnen der Bilhah und den Söhnen Silpahs, der Weiber seines Vaters, und Joseph brachte das böse Gerede von ihnen herein zu ihrem Vater.

Estas fueron las generaciones de Jacob. José, siendo de edad de diez y siete años apacentaba las ovejas con sus hermanos; y el joven estaba con los hijos de Bilha, y con los hijos de Zilpa, mujeres de su padre: y noticiaba José á su padre la mala fama de ellos.

These are the generations of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his brethren; and the lad was with the sons of Bilhah, and with the sons of Zilpah, his father’s wives: and Joseph brought unto his father their evil report.

Und Israel liebte Joseph mehr denn alle seine Söhne, weil er der Sohn seines Alters war, und machte ihm einen buntfarbigen Rock.

And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him.

Und Joseph träumte einen Traum, und sagte ihn seinen Brüdern an, und sie haßten ihn noch mehr.

Und siehe, wir banden Garben inmitten des Feldes, und siehe, es richtete sich auf meine Garbe und stand aufrecht, und siehe, eure Garben umgaben sie und verbeugten sich vor meiner Garbe.

He aquí que atábamos manojos en medio del campo, y he aquí que mi manojo se levantaba, y estaba derecho, y que vuestros manojos estaban alrededor, y se inclinaban al mío.

For, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about, and made obeisance to my sheaf.

Und seine Brüder sprachen zu ihm: Du willst wohl gar über uns regieren, willst du über uns herrschen? und sie haßten ihn noch mehr ob seinen Träumen und ob seinen Worten.

Y respondiéronle sus hermanos: ¿Has de reinar tú sobre nosotros, ó te has de enseñorear sobre nosotros? Y le aborrecieron aún más á causa de sus sueños y de sus palabras.

And his brethren said to him, Shalt thou indeed reign over us? or shalt thou indeed have dominion over us? And they hated him yet the more for his dreams, and for his words.

His brothers asked him, “Will you indeed reign over us? Will you indeed have dominion over us?” They hated him all the more for his dreams and for his words.

Und er träumte noch einen anderen Traum und erzählte ihn seinen Brüdern. Und er sprach: Siehe, ich träumte noch einen Traum, und siehe, die Sonne und der Mond und elf Sterne verbeugten sich vor mir.

Y soñó aún otro sueño, y contólo á sus hermanos, diciendo: He aquí que he soñado otro sueño, y he aquí que el sol y la luna y once estrellas se inclinaban á mí.

And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me.

Und er erzählte es seinem Vater und seinen Brüdern; sein Vater aber bedrohte ihn und sagte zu ihm: Was soll es mit diesem Traume, den du geträumt hast? Sollen wir, ich und deine Mutter und deine Brüder kommen und uns vor dir zu Erde verbeugen?

Y contólo á su padre y á sus hermanos: y su padre le reprendió, y díjole: ¿Qué sueño es este que soñaste? ¿Hemos de venir yo y tu madre, y tus hermanos, á inclinarnos á ti á tierra?

And he told it to his father, and to his brethren: and his father rebuked him, and said unto him, What is this dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I and thy mother and thy brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth?

He told it to his father and to his brothers. His father rebuked him, and said to him, “What is this dream that you have dreamed? Will I and your mother and your brothers indeed come to bow ourselves down to the earth before you?”

Und seine Brüder beneideten ihn; sein Vater aber behielt das Wort.

Und Israel sprach zu Joseph: Sind nicht deine Brüder auf der Weide in Schechem? Gehe, und ich will dich zu ihnen senden. Und er sprach zu ihm: Siehe, hier bin ich.

And Israel said unto Joseph, Do not thy brethren feed the flock in Shechem? come, and I will send thee unto them. And he said to him, Here am I.

Israel said to Joseph, “Aren’t your brothers feeding the flock in Shechem? Come, and I will send you to them.” He said to him, “Here I am.”

Und er sprach zu ihm: Geh doch und sieh, wie es deinen Brüdern geht, und wie es mit dem Kleinvieh geht und bring mir das Wort zurück. Und er sandte ihn aus dem Talgrunde Chebron und er kam nach Schechem.

Y él le dijo: Ve ahora, mira cómo están tus hermanos y cómo están las ovejas, y tráeme la respuesta. Y enviólo del valle de Hebrón, y llegó á Sichêm.

And he said to him, Go, I pray thee, see whether it be well with thy brethren, and well with the flocks; and bring me word again. So he sent him out of the vale of Hebron, and he came to Shechem.

He said to him, “Go now, see whether it is well with your brothers, and well with the flock; and bring me word again.” So he sent him out of the valley of Hebron, and he came to Shechem.

Und es fand ihn ein Mann, und siehe, er wanderte auf dem Felde umher. Und der Mann fragte ihn und sprach: Was suchest du?

Y hallólo un hombre, andando él perdido por el campo, y preguntóle aquel hombre, diciendo: ¿Qué buscas?

And a certain man found him, and, behold, he was wandering in the field: and the man asked him, saying, What seekest thou?

Und er sprach: Meine Brüder suche ich. Sage mir doch an, wo sie auf der Weide sind.

Y él respondió: Busco á mis hermanos: ruégote que me muestres dónde pastan.

And he said, I seek my brethren: tell me, I pray thee, where they feed their flocks.

He said, “I am looking for my brothers. Tell me, please, where they are feeding the flock.”

Und der Mann sagte ihm: Sie sind von hier aufgebrochen; denn ich hörte sie sagen: Wir wollen nach Dothan gehen. Und Joseph ging seinen Brüdern nach und fand sie in Dothan.

Y aquel hombre respondió: Ya se han ido de aquí; y yo les oí decir: Vamos á Dothán. Entonces José fué tras de sus hermanos, y hallólos en Dothán.

And the man said, They are departed hence; for I heard them say, Let us go to Dothan. And Joseph went after his brethren, and found them in Dothan.

The man said, “They have left here, for I heard them say, ‘Let’s go to Dothan.’” Joseph went after his brothers, and found them in Dothan.

Und sie sahen ihn von ferne, und ehe er ihnen nahe kam, faßten sie den Anschlag wider ihn, ihn zu töten.

Y como ellos lo vieron de lejos, antes que cerca de ellos llegara, proyectaron contra él para matarle.

And when they saw him afar off, even before he came near unto them, they conspired against him to slay him.

They saw him afar off, and before he came near to them, they conspired against him to kill him.

Und sie sprachen der eine zum anderen: Siehe, da kommt dieser Traummeister.

Y dijeron el uno al otro: He aquí viene el soñador;

And they said one to another, Behold, this dreamer cometh.

They said to one another, “Behold, this dreamer comes.

Und nun kommet, laßt uns ihn erwürgen und in eine der Gruben werfen und sagen: Ein böses, wildes Tier hat ihn gefressen, und wir wollen sehen, was aus seinen Träumen wird.

Ahora pues, venid, y matémoslo y echémosle en una cisterna, y diremos: Alguna mala bestia le devoró: y veremos qué serán sus sueños.

Come now therefore, and let us slay him, and cast him into some pit, and we will say, Some evil beast hath devoured him: and we shall see what will become of his dreams.

Come now therefore, and let’s kill him, and cast him into one of the pits, and we will say, ‘An evil animal has devoured him.’ We will see what will become of his dreams.”

Und Ruben hörte dies und wollte ihn aus ihrer Hand erretten, und sprach: Wir wollen ihm nicht an die Seele gehen.

Y como Rubén oyó esto, librólo de sus manos, y dijo: No lo matemos.

And Reuben heard it, and he delivered him out of their hands; and said, Let us not kill him.

Und Ruben sprach zu ihnen: Vergießet nicht Blut, werfet ihn in die Grube dort in der Wüste, strecket aber eure Hand nicht aus gegen ihn; auf daß er ihn aus ihrer Hand errette, um ihn zu seinem Vater zurückzubringen.

Y díjoles Rubén: No derraméis sangre; echadlo en esta cisterna que está en el desierto, y no pongáis mano en él; por librarlo así de sus manos, para hacerlo volver á su padre.

And Reuben said unto them, Shed no blood, but cast him into this pit that is in the wilderness, and lay no hand upon him; that he might rid him out of their hands, to deliver him to his father again.

Reuben said to them, “Shed no blood. Throw him into this pit that is in the wilderness, but lay no hand on him”—that he might deliver him out of their hand, to restore him to his father.

Und es geschah, da Joseph zu seinen Brüdern kam, zogen sie dem Joseph seinen Rock, den buntfarbigen Rock aus, den er anhatte;

Y sucedió que, cuando llegó José á sus hermanos, ellos hicieron desnudar á José su ropa, la ropa de colores que tenía sobre sí;

And it came to pass, when Joseph was come unto his brethren, that they stript Joseph out of his coat, his coat of many colours that was on him;

When Joseph came to his brothers, they stripped Joseph of his tunic, the tunic of many colors that was on him;

Und sie nahmen ihn und warfen ihn in die Grube; die Grube aber war leer, kein Wasser war darin.

Y tomáronlo, y echáronle en la cisterna; mas la cisterna estaba vacía, no había en ella agua.

And they took him, and cast him into a pit: and the pit was empty, there was no water in it.

Und sie setzten sich, das Brot zu essen, und hoben ihre Augen auf und sahen, und siehe, ein Wanderzug Ismaeliten kam von Gilead; und ihre Kamele trugen Gewürze und Balsam und Stakte, und sie gingen, sie hinab nach Ägypten zu bringen.

Y sentáronse á comer pan: y alzando los ojos miraron, y he aquí una compañía de Ismaelitas que venía de Galaad, y sus camellos traían aromas y bálsamo y mirra, é iban á llevarlo á Egipto.

And they sat down to eat bread: and they lifted up their eyes and looked, and, behold, a company of Ishmeelites came from Gilead with their camels bearing spicery and balm and myrrh, going to carry it down to Egypt.

Und Judah sprach zu seinen Brüdern: Welchen Gewinn haben wir davon, daß wir unseren Bruder erwürgen und sein Blut verbergen?

And Judah said unto his brethren, What profit is it if we slay our brother, and conceal his blood?

Kommt lasset uns ihn an die Ismaeliten verkaufen; und unsre Hand sei nicht an ihm; denn er ist unser Bruder, unser Fleisch ist er; und seine Brüder hörten auf ihn.

Venid, y vendámosle á los Ismaelitas, y no sea nuestra mano sobre él; que nuestro hermano es nuestra carne. Y sus hermanos acordaron con él.

Come, and let us sell him to the Ishmeelites, and let not our hand be upon him; for he is our brother and our flesh. And his brethren were content.

Und die midianitischen Männer, die Händler, zogen daher; sie aber zogen Joseph heraus und brachten ihn herauf aus der Grube, und verkauften Joseph an die Ismaeliten um zwanzig Silberlinge; und sie brachten Joseph nach Ägypten.

Y como pasaban los Midianitas mercaderes, sacaron ellos á José de la cisterna, y trajéronle arriba, y le vendieron á los Ismaelitas por veinte piezas de plata. Y llevaron á José á Egipto.

Then there passed by Midianites merchantmen; and they drew and lifted up Joseph out of the pit, and sold Joseph to the Ishmeelites for twenty pieces of silver: and they brought Joseph into Egypt.

Midianites who were merchants passed by, and they drew and lifted up Joseph out of the pit, and sold Joseph to the Ishmaelites for twenty pieces of silver. The merchants brought Joseph into Egypt.

Und Ruben kehrte nach der Grube zurück, und siehe: kein Joseph war in der Grube; und er zerriß seine Kleider;

Y Rubén volvió á la cisterna, y no halló á José dentro, y rasgó sus vestidos.

And Reuben returned unto the pit; and, behold, Joseph was not in the pit; and he rent his clothes.

Reuben returned to the pit, and saw that Joseph wasn’t in the pit; and he tore his clothes.

Und er kehrte zu seinen Brüdern zurück und sprach: Das Kind ist nicht mehr da. Und ich, wohin komme ich?

Y tornó á sus hermanos, y dijo: El mozo no parece; y yo, ¿adónde iré yo?

And he returned unto his brethren, and said, The child is not; and I, whither shall I go?

He returned to his brothers, and said, “The child is no more; and I, where will I go?”

Sie aber nahmen Josephs Rock und schlachteten einen Bock von den Ziegen, und tauchten den Rock in das Blut.

Entonces tomaron ellos la ropa de José, y degollaron un cabrito de las cabras, y tiñeron la ropa con la sangre;

And they took Joseph’s coat, and killed a kid of the goats, and dipped the coat in the blood;

Und sie sandten den buntfarbigen Rock fort und brachten ihn zu ihrem Vater und sagten: Diesen haben wir gefunden! besieh ihn doch, ob es deines Sohnes Rock ist, oder nicht.

Y enviaron la ropa de colores y trajéronla á su padre, y dijeron: Esta hemos hallado, reconoce ahora si es ó no la ropa de tu hijo.

And they sent the coat of many colours, and they brought it to their father; and said, This have we found: know now whether it be thy son’s coat or no.

They took the tunic of many colors, and they brought it to their father, and said, “We have found this. Examine it, now, and see if it is your son’s tunic or not.”

Und er erkannte ihn und sprach: Es ist der Rock meines Sohnes, ein böses, wildes Tier hat ihn gefressen. Zerfleischt ist Joseph.

Y él la conoció, y dijo: La ropa de mi hijo es; alguna mala bestia le devoró; José ha sido despedazado.

And he knew it, and said, It is my son’s coat; an evil beast hath devoured him; Joseph is without doubt rent in pieces.

He recognized it, and said, “It is my son’s tunic. An evil animal has devoured him. Joseph is without doubt torn in pieces.”

Und Jakob zerriß seine Gewänder und legte einen Sack um seine Lenden, und trauerte viele Tage um seinen Sohn.

Entonces Jacob rasgó sus vestidos, y puso saco sobre sus lomos, y enlutóse por su hijo muchos días.
