Jakob aber wohnete im Lande, da sein Vater ein Fremdling innen gewesen war, nämlich im Lande Kanaan.

Y HABITÓ Jacob en la tierra donde peregrinó su padre, en la tierra de Canaán.

And Jacob dwelt in the land wherein his father was a stranger, in the land of Canaan.

Und das sind die Geschlechter Jakobs: Joseph war siebenzehn Jahre alt, da er ein Hirte des Viehes ward mit seinen Brüdern; und der Knabe war bei den Kindern Bilhas und Silpas, seines Vaters Weiber, und brachte vor ihren Vater, wo ein bös Geschrei wider sie war.

Estas fueron las generaciones de Jacob. José, siendo de edad de diez y siete años apacentaba las ovejas con sus hermanos; y el joven estaba con los hijos de Bilha, y con los hijos de Zilpa, mujeres de su padre: y noticiaba José á su padre la mala fama de ellos.

These are the generations of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his brethren; and the lad was with the sons of Bilhah, and with the sons of Zilpah, his father’s wives: and Joseph brought unto his father their evil report.

Israel aber hatte Joseph lieber denn alle seine Kinder, darum daß er ihn im Alter gezeuget hatte; und machte ihm einen bunten Rock.

Dazu hatte Joseph einmal einen Traum und sagte seinen Brüdern davon; da wurden sie ihm noch feinder.

Mich deuchte, wir banden Garben auf dem Felde, und meine Garbe richtete sich auf und stund, und eure Garben umher neigeten sich gegen meine Garbe.

He aquí que atábamos manojos en medio del campo, y he aquí que mi manojo se levantaba, y estaba derecho, y que vuestros manojos estaban alrededor, y se inclinaban al mío.

For, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about, and made obeisance to my sheaf.

Da sprachen seine Brüder zu ihm: Solltest du unser König werden und über uns herrschen? Und wurden ihm noch feinder um seines Traums und seiner Rede willen.

Y respondiéronle sus hermanos: ¿Has de reinar tú sobre nosotros, ó te has de enseñorear sobre nosotros? Y le aborrecieron aún más á causa de sus sueños y de sus palabras.

And his brethren said to him, Shalt thou indeed reign over us? or shalt thou indeed have dominion over us? And they hated him yet the more for his dreams, and for his words.

His brothers asked him, “Will you indeed reign over us? Will you indeed have dominion over us?” They hated him all the more for his dreams and for his words.

Und er hatte noch einen andern Traum, den erzählte er seinen Brüdern und sprach: Siehe, ich habe noch einen Traum gehabt. Mich deuchte, die Sonne und der Mond und elf Sterne neigeten sich vor mir.

Y soñó aún otro sueño, y contólo á sus hermanos, diciendo: He aquí que he soñado otro sueño, y he aquí que el sol y la luna y once estrellas se inclinaban á mí.

And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me.

Und da das seinem Vater und seinen Brüdern gesagt ward, strafte ihn sein Vater und sprach zu ihm: Was ist das für ein Traum, der dir geträumet hat? Soll ich und deine Mutter und deine Brüder kommen und dich anbeten?

Y contólo á su padre y á sus hermanos: y su padre le reprendió, y díjole: ¿Qué sueño es este que soñaste? ¿Hemos de venir yo y tu madre, y tus hermanos, á inclinarnos á ti á tierra?

And he told it to his father, and to his brethren: and his father rebuked him, and said unto him, What is this dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I and thy mother and thy brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth?

He told it to his father and to his brothers. His father rebuked him, and said to him, “What is this dream that you have dreamed? Will I and your mother and your brothers indeed come to bow ourselves down to the earth before you?”

Und seine Brüder neideten ihn. Aber sein Vater behielt diese Worte.

Y sus hermanos le tenían envidia, mas su padre paraba la consideración en ello.

And his brethren envied him; but his father observed the saying.

Da nun seine Brüder hingingen, zu weiden das Vieh ihres Vaters in Sichem,

sprach Israel zu Joseph: Hüten nicht deine Brüder des Viehes in Sichem? Komm, ich will dich zu ihnen senden. Er aber sprach: Hie bin ich!

Y dijo Israel á José: Tus hermanos apacientan las ovejas en Sichêm: ven, y te enviaré á ellos. Y él respondió: Heme aquí.

And Israel said unto Joseph, Do not thy brethren feed the flock in Shechem? come, and I will send thee unto them. And he said to him, Here am I.

Israel said to Joseph, “Aren’t your brothers feeding the flock in Shechem? Come, and I will send you to them.” He said to him, “Here I am.”

Und er sprach: Gehe hin und sieh, ob es wohl stehe um deine Brüder und um das Vieh; und sage mir wieder, wie sich's hält. Und er sandte ihn aus dem Tal Hebron, daß er gen Sichem ginge.

Y él le dijo: Ve ahora, mira cómo están tus hermanos y cómo están las ovejas, y tráeme la respuesta. Y enviólo del valle de Hebrón, y llegó á Sichêm.

And he said to him, Go, I pray thee, see whether it be well with thy brethren, and well with the flocks; and bring me word again. So he sent him out of the vale of Hebron, and he came to Shechem.

He said to him, “Go now, see whether it is well with your brothers, and well with the flock; and bring me word again.” So he sent him out of the valley of Hebron, and he came to Shechem.

Da fand ihn ein Mann, daß er irre ging auf dem Felde; der fragte ihn und sprach: Wen suchest du?

Y hallólo un hombre, andando él perdido por el campo, y preguntóle aquel hombre, diciendo: ¿Qué buscas?

And a certain man found him, and, behold, he was wandering in the field: and the man asked him, saying, What seekest thou?

A certain man found him, and behold, he was wandering in the field. The man asked him, “What are you looking for?”

Er antwortete: Ich suche meine Brüder; lieber, sage mir an, wo sie hüten.

Y él respondió: Busco á mis hermanos: ruégote que me muestres dónde pastan.

And he said, I seek my brethren: tell me, I pray thee, where they feed their flocks.

He said, “I am looking for my brothers. Tell me, please, where they are feeding the flock.”

Der Mann sprach: Sie sind von dannen gezogen; denn ich hörte, daß sie sagten: Lasset uns gen Dothan gehen. Da folgte Joseph seinen Brüdern nach und fand sie zu Dothan.

Y aquel hombre respondió: Ya se han ido de aquí; y yo les oí decir: Vamos á Dothán. Entonces José fué tras de sus hermanos, y hallólos en Dothán.

And the man said, They are departed hence; for I heard them say, Let us go to Dothan. And Joseph went after his brethren, and found them in Dothan.

The man said, “They have left here, for I heard them say, ‘Let’s go to Dothan.’” Joseph went after his brothers, and found them in Dothan.

Als sie ihn nun sahen von ferne, ehe denn er nahe bei sie kam, schlugen sie an, daß sie ihn töteten,

Y como ellos lo vieron de lejos, antes que cerca de ellos llegara, proyectaron contra él para matarle.

And when they saw him afar off, even before he came near unto them, they conspired against him to slay him.

und sprachen untereinander: Sehet, der Träumer kommt daher!

Y dijeron el uno al otro: He aquí viene el soñador;

And they said one to another, Behold, this dreamer cometh.

They said to one another, “Behold, this dreamer comes.

So kommt nun und lasset uns ihn erwürgen und in eine Grube werfen und sagen, ein böses Tier habe ihn gefressen, so wird man sehen, was seine Träume sind.

Ahora pues, venid, y matémoslo y echémosle en una cisterna, y diremos: Alguna mala bestia le devoró: y veremos qué serán sus sueños.

Come now therefore, and let us slay him, and cast him into some pit, and we will say, Some evil beast hath devoured him: and we shall see what will become of his dreams.

Come now therefore, and let’s kill him, and cast him into one of the pits, and we will say, ‘An evil animal has devoured him.’ We will see what will become of his dreams.”

Da das Ruben hörete, wollte er ihn aus ihren Händen erretten und sprach: Lasset uns ihn nicht töten!

Y como Rubén oyó esto, librólo de sus manos, y dijo: No lo matemos.

And Reuben heard it, and he delivered him out of their hands; and said, Let us not kill him.

Reuben heard it, and delivered him out of their hand, and said, “Let’s not take his life.”

Und weiter sprach Ruben zu ihnen: Vergießet nicht Blut, sondern werfet ihn in die Grube, die in der Wüste ist, und leget die Hand nicht an ihn. Er wollte ihn aber aus ihrer Hand erretten, daß er ihn seinem Vater wiederbrächte.

Y díjoles Rubén: No derraméis sangre; echadlo en esta cisterna que está en el desierto, y no pongáis mano en él; por librarlo así de sus manos, para hacerlo volver á su padre.

And Reuben said unto them, Shed no blood, but cast him into this pit that is in the wilderness, and lay no hand upon him; that he might rid him out of their hands, to deliver him to his father again.

Reuben said to them, “Shed no blood. Throw him into this pit that is in the wilderness, but lay no hand on him”—that he might deliver him out of their hand, to restore him to his father.

Als nun Joseph zu seinen Brüdern kam, zogen sie ihm seinen Rock mit dem bunten Rock aus, den er anhatte;

Y sucedió que, cuando llegó José á sus hermanos, ellos hicieron desnudar á José su ropa, la ropa de colores que tenía sobre sí;

And it came to pass, when Joseph was come unto his brethren, that they stript Joseph out of his coat, his coat of many colours that was on him;

When Joseph came to his brothers, they stripped Joseph of his tunic, the tunic of many colors that was on him;

und nahmen ihn und warfen ihn in eine Grube; aber dieselbige Grube war leer und kein Wasser drinnen.

Y tomáronlo, y echáronle en la cisterna; mas la cisterna estaba vacía, no había en ella agua.

And they took him, and cast him into a pit: and the pit was empty, there was no water in it.

Und setzten sich nieder zu essen. Indes huben sie ihre Augen auf und sahen einen Haufen Ismaeliter kommen von Gilead mit ihren Kamelen; die trugen Würze, Balsam und Myrrhen, und zogen hinab nach Ägypten.

Y sentáronse á comer pan: y alzando los ojos miraron, y he aquí una compañía de Ismaelitas que venía de Galaad, y sus camellos traían aromas y bálsamo y mirra, é iban á llevarlo á Egipto.

And they sat down to eat bread: and they lifted up their eyes and looked, and, behold, a company of Ishmeelites came from Gilead with their camels bearing spicery and balm and myrrh, going to carry it down to Egypt.

Da sprach Juda zu seinen Brüdern: Was hilft's uns, daß wir unsern Bruder erwürgen und sein Blut verbergen?

Entonces Judá dijo á sus hermanos: ¿Qué provecho el que matemos á nuestro hermano y encubramos su muerte?

And Judah said unto his brethren, What profit is it if we slay our brother, and conceal his blood?

Judah said to his brothers, “What profit is it if we kill our brother and conceal his blood?

Kommt, lasset uns ihn den Ismaeliten verkaufen, daß sich unsere Hände nicht an ihm vergreifen; denn er ist unser Bruder, unser Fleisch und Blut. Und sie gehorchten ihm.

Venid, y vendámosle á los Ismaelitas, y no sea nuestra mano sobre él; que nuestro hermano es nuestra carne. Y sus hermanos acordaron con él.

Come, and let us sell him to the Ishmeelites, and let not our hand be upon him; for he is our brother and our flesh. And his brethren were content.

Und da die Midianiter, die Kaufleute, vorüberreiseten, zogen sie ihn heraus aus der Grube und verkauften ihn den Ismaeliten um zwanzig Silberlinge; die brachten ihn nach Ägypten.

Y como pasaban los Midianitas mercaderes, sacaron ellos á José de la cisterna, y trajéronle arriba, y le vendieron á los Ismaelitas por veinte piezas de plata. Y llevaron á José á Egipto.

Then there passed by Midianites merchantmen; and they drew and lifted up Joseph out of the pit, and sold Joseph to the Ishmeelites for twenty pieces of silver: and they brought Joseph into Egypt.

Midianites who were merchants passed by, and they drew and lifted up Joseph out of the pit, and sold Joseph to the Ishmaelites for twenty pieces of silver. The merchants brought Joseph into Egypt.

Als nun Ruben wieder zur Grube kam und fand Joseph nicht darinnen, zerriß er sein Kleid

Y Rubén volvió á la cisterna, y no halló á José dentro, y rasgó sus vestidos.

And Reuben returned unto the pit; and, behold, Joseph was not in the pit; and he rent his clothes.

Reuben returned to the pit, and saw that Joseph wasn’t in the pit; and he tore his clothes.

und kam wieder zu seinen Brüdern und sprach: Der Knabe ist nicht da, wo soll ich hin?

Y tornó á sus hermanos, y dijo: El mozo no parece; y yo, ¿adónde iré yo?

And he returned unto his brethren, and said, The child is not; and I, whither shall I go?

He returned to his brothers, and said, “The child is no more; and I, where will I go?”

Da nahmen sie Josephs Rock und schlachteten einen Ziegenbock und tunkten den Rock ins Blut.

Entonces tomaron ellos la ropa de José, y degollaron un cabrito de las cabras, y tiñeron la ropa con la sangre;

And they took Joseph’s coat, and killed a kid of the goats, and dipped the coat in the blood;

They took Joseph’s tunic, and killed a male goat, and dipped the tunic in the blood.

Und schickten den bunten Rock hin und ließen ihn ihrem Vater bringen und sagen: Diesen haben wir funden; siehe, ob es deines Sohnes Rock sei, oder nicht.

Y enviaron la ropa de colores y trajéronla á su padre, y dijeron: Esta hemos hallado, reconoce ahora si es ó no la ropa de tu hijo.

And they sent the coat of many colours, and they brought it to their father; and said, This have we found: know now whether it be thy son’s coat or no.

They took the tunic of many colors, and they brought it to their father, and said, “We have found this. Examine it, now, and see if it is your son’s tunic or not.”

Er kannte ihn aber und sprach: Es ist meines Sohnes Rock; ein böses Tier hat ihn gefressen, ein reißend Tier hat Joseph zerrissen.

Y él la conoció, y dijo: La ropa de mi hijo es; alguna mala bestia le devoró; José ha sido despedazado.

And he knew it, and said, It is my son’s coat; an evil beast hath devoured him; Joseph is without doubt rent in pieces.

He recognized it, and said, “It is my son’s tunic. An evil animal has devoured him. Joseph is without doubt torn in pieces.”

Und Jakob zerriß seine Kleider und legte einen Sack um seine Lenden und trug Leid um seinen Sohn lange Zeit.

Entonces Jacob rasgó sus vestidos, y puso saco sobre sus lomos, y enlutóse por su hijo muchos días.

And Jacob rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his loins, and mourned for his son many days.

And all his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him; but he refused to be comforted; and he said, For I will go down into the grave unto my son mourning. Thus his father wept for him.

Aber die Midianiter verkauften ihn in Ägypten dem Potiphar, des Pharao Kämmerer und Hofmeister.
