Jakob aber wohnte in dem Land, in dem sein Vater zu Gast geweilt, im Land Kanaan.

Y HABITÓ Jacob en la tierra donde peregrinó su padre, en la tierra de Canaán.

And Jacob dwelt in the land wherein his father was a stranger, in the land of Canaan.

Dies ist Jakobs Geschlechterfolge: Als Joseph siebzehn Jahre alt geworden, pflegte er seine Brüder bei den Schafherden zu besuchen. Er hielt sich aber als junger Mann zu den Söhnen Bilhas und Zilpas, der Weiber seines Vaters. Und so konnte Joseph ihrem Vater schlimme Geschichten über sie vermelden.

Estas fueron las generaciones de Jacob. José, siendo de edad de diez y siete años apacentaba las ovejas con sus hermanos; y el joven estaba con los hijos de Bilha, y con los hijos de Zilpa, mujeres de su padre: y noticiaba José á su padre la mala fama de ellos.

These are the generations of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his brethren; and the lad was with the sons of Bilhah, and with the sons of Zilpah, his father’s wives: and Joseph brought unto his father their evil report.

Israel aber liebte Joseph mehr als alle seine anderen Söhne; denn er war ihm in seinem Alter geboren, und so hatte er ihm einen langen Leibrock machen lassen.

Einst hatte nun Joseph einen Traum und erzählte ihn seinen Brüdern; da haßten sie ihn noch mehr.

Wir banden Garben auf dem Felde. Da hat sich meine Garbe aufgerichtet und ist stehengeblieben. Aber eure Garben stellten sich herum und neigten sich vor meiner Garbe."

He aquí que atábamos manojos en medio del campo, y he aquí que mi manojo se levantaba, y estaba derecho, y que vuestros manojos estaban alrededor, y se inclinaban al mío.

For, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about, and made obeisance to my sheaf.

Da sprachen seine Brüder zu ihm "Du wärst wohl gern König über uns; du wärst wohl gern unser Herrscher?" Und sie haßten ihn noch ärger wegen seines Traumes und seiner Erzählung.

Y respondiéronle sus hermanos: ¿Has de reinar tú sobre nosotros, ó te has de enseñorear sobre nosotros? Y le aborrecieron aún más á causa de sus sueños y de sus palabras.

And his brethren said to him, Shalt thou indeed reign over us? or shalt thou indeed have dominion over us? And they hated him yet the more for his dreams, and for his words.

His brothers asked him, “Will you indeed reign over us? Will you indeed have dominion over us?” They hated him all the more for his dreams and for his words.

Er träumte aber wieder und erzählte es seinen Brüdern. Er sprach: "Noch einen Traum habe ich gehabt: Die Sonne, der Mond und elf Sterne neigten sich vor mir."

And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me.

Als er dies seinem Vater und seinen Brüdern erzählte, schalt ihn sein Vater und sprach zu ihm: "Was ist das für ein Traum, den du gehabt? Sollen wir, ich, deine Mutter und deine Brüder kommen und uns vor dir zur Erde neigen?"

And he told it to his father, and to his brethren: and his father rebuked him, and said unto him, What is this dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I and thy mother and thy brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth?

He told it to his father and to his brothers. His father rebuked him, and said to him, “What is this dream that you have dreamed? Will I and your mother and your brothers indeed come to bow ourselves down to the earth before you?”

Seither waren ihm seine Brüder mißgesinnt. Sein Vater aber merkte sich die Sache.

And his brethren envied him; but his father observed the saying.

Da sprach Israel zu Joseph: "Weiden deine Brüder nicht zu Sichem? Komm! Ich will dich zu ihnen senden." Er sprach zu ihm: "Ich bin bereit."

Y dijo Israel á José: Tus hermanos apacientan las ovejas en Sichêm: ven, y te enviaré á ellos. Y él respondió: Heme aquí.

And Israel said unto Joseph, Do not thy brethren feed the flock in Shechem? come, and I will send thee unto them. And he said to him, Here am I.

Israel said to Joseph, “Aren’t your brothers feeding the flock in Shechem? Come, and I will send you to them.” He said to him, “Here I am.”

Da sprach er zu ihm: "Geh! Schau nach dem Befinden deiner Brüder und der Herde und bringe mir Bescheid!" So schickte er ihn aus dem Tal von Hebron, und er kam nach Sichem.

Y él le dijo: Ve ahora, mira cómo están tus hermanos y cómo están las ovejas, y tráeme la respuesta. Y enviólo del valle de Hebrón, y llegó á Sichêm.

And he said to him, Go, I pray thee, see whether it be well with thy brethren, and well with the flocks; and bring me word again. So he sent him out of the vale of Hebron, and he came to Shechem.

He said to him, “Go now, see whether it is well with your brothers, and well with the flock; and bring me word again.” So he sent him out of the valley of Hebron, and he came to Shechem.

Da sah ihn ein Mann auf dem Feld umherirren, und der Mann fragte ihn: "Wen suchst du?"

Y hallólo un hombre, andando él perdido por el campo, y preguntóle aquel hombre, diciendo: ¿Qué buscas?

And a certain man found him, and, behold, he was wandering in the field: and the man asked him, saying, What seekest thou?

Er sprach: "Ich suche meine Brüder. Sag mir doch, wo sie weiden!"

Y él respondió: Busco á mis hermanos: ruégote que me muestres dónde pastan.

And he said, I seek my brethren: tell me, I pray thee, where they feed their flocks.

He said, “I am looking for my brothers. Tell me, please, where they are feeding the flock.”

Da sprach der Mann: "Sie sind von hier weggezogen. Ich habe sie nämlich sprechen gehört: 'Wir wollen nach Dotain gehen.'" Da ging Joseph seinen Brüdern nach und traf sie in Dotain.

Y aquel hombre respondió: Ya se han ido de aquí; y yo les oí decir: Vamos á Dothán. Entonces José fué tras de sus hermanos, y hallólos en Dothán.

And the man said, They are departed hence; for I heard them say, Let us go to Dothan. And Joseph went after his brethren, and found them in Dothan.

The man said, “They have left here, for I heard them say, ‘Let’s go to Dothan.’” Joseph went after his brothers, and found them in Dothan.

Sie sahen ihn aber schon von ferne, und bevor er zu ihnen kam, heckten sie gegen ihn einen Mordplan aus.

Y como ellos lo vieron de lejos, antes que cerca de ellos llegara, proyectaron contra él para matarle.

And when they saw him afar off, even before he came near unto them, they conspired against him to slay him.

Sie sprachen zueinander: "Seht, dort drüben kommt der Träumer!

And they said one to another, Behold, this dreamer cometh.

Nun auf! Erschlagen wir ihn und werfen wir ihn in eine der Gruben; dann sagen wir: 'Ein wildes Tier hat ihn gefressen.' Dann sehen wir, was aus seinen Träumen wird."

Ahora pues, venid, y matémoslo y echémosle en una cisterna, y diremos: Alguna mala bestia le devoró: y veremos qué serán sus sueños.

Come now therefore, and let us slay him, and cast him into some pit, and we will say, Some evil beast hath devoured him: and we shall see what will become of his dreams.

Come now therefore, and let’s kill him, and cast him into one of the pits, and we will say, ‘An evil animal has devoured him.’ We will see what will become of his dreams.”

Als Ruben dies hörte, suchte er ihn aus ihrer Hand zu retten. Er sprach: "Wir wollen ihn nicht totschlagen."

Y como Rubén oyó esto, librólo de sus manos, y dijo: No lo matemos.

And Reuben heard it, and he delivered him out of their hands; and said, Let us not kill him.

Dann sprach Ruben zu ihnen: "Vergießt kein Blut! Werft ihn in die Grube da in der Steppe! Aber legt nicht Hand an ihn!" So wollte er ihn aus ihrer Hand retten und ihn seinem Vater heimbringen.

Y díjoles Rubén: No derraméis sangre; echadlo en esta cisterna que está en el desierto, y no pongáis mano en él; por librarlo así de sus manos, para hacerlo volver á su padre.

And Reuben said unto them, Shed no blood, but cast him into this pit that is in the wilderness, and lay no hand upon him; that he might rid him out of their hands, to deliver him to his father again.

Reuben said to them, “Shed no blood. Throw him into this pit that is in the wilderness, but lay no hand on him”—that he might deliver him out of their hand, to restore him to his father.

Wie nun Joseph zu seinen Brüdern kam, rissen sie Joseph seinen Leibrock ab, den langen Leibrock, den er anhatte.

Y sucedió que, cuando llegó José á sus hermanos, ellos hicieron desnudar á José su ropa, la ropa de colores que tenía sobre sí;

And it came to pass, when Joseph was come unto his brethren, that they stript Joseph out of his coat, his coat of many colours that was on him;

Dann setzten sie sich zum Mahle nieder. Wie sie nun aufblickten, sahen sie, wie eine Karawane von Ismaelitern aus Gilead herankam, ihre Kamele beladen mit Tragakanth, Mastix und Ladanharz, auf dem Weg nach Ägypten.

Y sentáronse á comer pan: y alzando los ojos miraron, y he aquí una compañía de Ismaelitas que venía de Galaad, y sus camellos traían aromas y bálsamo y mirra, é iban á llevarlo á Egipto.

And they sat down to eat bread: and they lifted up their eyes and looked, and, behold, a company of Ishmeelites came from Gilead with their camels bearing spicery and balm and myrrh, going to carry it down to Egypt.

Da sprach Juda zu seinen Brüdern: "Was haben wir davon, wenn wir unseren Bruder umbrächten und dann sein Blut zudeckten?

And Judah said unto his brethren, What profit is it if we slay our brother, and conceal his blood?

Kommt! Wir wollen ihn den Ismaelitern verkaufen! Aber unsere Hand komme nicht an ihn! Er ist doch unser Bruder, unser eigen Fleisch." Da willigten seine Brüder ein.

Venid, y vendámosle á los Ismaelitas, y no sea nuestra mano sobre él; que nuestro hermano es nuestra carne. Y sus hermanos acordaron con él.

Come, and let us sell him to the Ishmeelites, and let not our hand be upon him; for he is our brother and our flesh. And his brethren were content.

Als aber midianitische Handelsleute vorüberzogen, zogen sie Joseph aus der Grube. Und sie verkauften Joseph an die Ismaeliter um zwanzig Silberlinge. Diese aber brachten Joseph nach Ägypten.

Y como pasaban los Midianitas mercaderes, sacaron ellos á José de la cisterna, y trajéronle arriba, y le vendieron á los Ismaelitas por veinte piezas de plata. Y llevaron á José á Egipto.

Then there passed by Midianites merchantmen; and they drew and lifted up Joseph out of the pit, and sold Joseph to the Ishmeelites for twenty pieces of silver: and they brought Joseph into Egypt.

Midianites who were merchants passed by, and they drew and lifted up Joseph out of the pit, and sold Joseph to the Ishmaelites for twenty pieces of silver. The merchants brought Joseph into Egypt.

Als nun Ruben wieder zu der Grube kam, war Joseph nicht mehr in der Grube. Da zerriß er seine Kleider,

Y Rubén volvió á la cisterna, y no halló á José dentro, y rasgó sus vestidos.

And Reuben returned unto the pit; and, behold, Joseph was not in the pit; and he rent his clothes.

Reuben returned to the pit, and saw that Joseph wasn’t in the pit; and he tore his clothes.

kehrte zu seinen Brüdern zurück und sprach: "Der Knabe ist nicht mehr da. Wie kann ich da heimgehen?"

And he returned unto his brethren, and said, The child is not; and I, whither shall I go?

Da nahmen sie Josephs Leibrock, schlachteten einen Ziegenbock und tauchten den Rock in das Blut.

Dann machten sie den langen Leibrock noch schmutzig, brachten ihn ihrem Vater und sprachen: "Dies haben wir gefunden. Sieh zu, ob's deines Sohnes Rock ist oder nicht!"

Y enviaron la ropa de colores y trajéronla á su padre, y dijeron: Esta hemos hallado, reconoce ahora si es ó no la ropa de tu hijo.

And they sent the coat of many colours, and they brought it to their father; and said, This have we found: know now whether it be thy son’s coat or no.

They took the tunic of many colors, and they brought it to their father, and said, “We have found this. Examine it, now, and see if it is your son’s tunic or not.”

Er betrachtete ihn und sprach: "Meines Sohnes Rock ist's. Ein wildes Tier hat ihn gefressen. Ach, Joseph ist zerrissen worden."

Y él la conoció, y dijo: La ropa de mi hijo es; alguna mala bestia le devoró; José ha sido despedazado.

And he knew it, and said, It is my son’s coat; an evil beast hath devoured him; Joseph is without doubt rent in pieces.

He recognized it, and said, “It is my son’s tunic. An evil animal has devoured him. Joseph is without doubt torn in pieces.”

Und Jakob zerriß seine Kleider, legte ein härenes Gewand um seine Hüften und trauerte um seinen Sohn viele Tage.

Entonces Jacob rasgó sus vestidos, y puso saco sobre sus lomos, y enlutóse por su hijo muchos días.
