1Dies sind die Nachkommen Esaus, das ist Edoms.
2Esau hatte seine Frauen aus den Kanaanäerinnen genommen, nämlich Ada, die Tochter des Hethiters Elon, und Oholibama, die Tochter Anas, die Enkelin des Hewiters Zibeon,
3und Basmath, die Tochter Ismaels, die Schwester Nebajoths.
4Ada gebar dann dem Esau den Eliphas, und Basmath gebar den Reguel;
5und Oholibama gebar Jehus und Jaglam und Korah. Dies sind die Söhne Esaus, die ihm im Lande Kanaan geboren wurden.
6Dann nahm Esau seine Frauen, seine Söhne und Töchter, überhaupt alle Personen, die zu seinem Hause gehörten, dazu auch seinen Besitz, sowohl all sein Vieh als auch seine ganze Habe, die er im Lande Kanaan erworben hatte, und zog von seinem Bruder Jakob weg in ein anderes Land (Seir);
7denn ihr Besitz war zu groß, als daß sie hätten beieinanderbleiben können, und das Land, in dem sie als Fremdlinge wohnten, reichte für sie wegen der Menge ihrer Herden nicht aus.
8So ließ sich denn Esau im Gebirge Seir nieder: Esau, das ist Edom.
9Dies sind die Nachkommen Esaus, des Stammvaters der Edomiter im Gebirge Seir.
10Dies sind die Namen der Söhne Esaus: Eliphas, der Sohn der Ada, der Frau Esaus, Reguel, der Sohn der Basmath, der Frau Esaus.
11Die Söhne des Eliphas waren: Theman, Omar, Zepho, Gaetham und Kenas.
12Thimna aber war ein Nebenweib des Eliphas, des Sohnes Esaus; die gebar dem Eliphas den Amalek. Dies sind die Nachkommen der Ada, der Frau Esaus.
13Die Söhne Reguels aber sind diese: Nahath und Serah, Samma und Missa. Dies waren die Nachkommen der Basmath, der Frau Esaus.
14Und die Söhne von Esaus Frau Oholibama, der Tochter Anas, der Enkelin Zibeons, die sie dem Esau gebar, waren diese: Jehus, Jaglam und Korah.
15Dies sind die Gaufürsten unter den Nachkommen Esaus: Die Söhne des Eliphas, des erstgeborenen Sohnes Esaus, waren: der Häuptling Theman, der Häuptling Omar, der Häuptling Zepho, der Häuptling Kenas,

18Und dies sind die Söhne der Oholibama, der Frau Esaus: der Häuptling Jehus, der Häuptling Jaglam, der Häuptling Korah. Dies sind die Häuptlinge, die von Esaus Frau Oholibama, der Tochter Anas, abstammen.
19Dies sind die Söhne Esaus und dies ihre Häuptlinge: das ist Edom.
20Dies sind die Söhne des Horiters Seir, die früher im Lande wohnten: Lotan, Sobal, Zibeon, Ana,
21Dison, Ezer und Disan. Dies sind die Gaufürsten der Horiter, der Söhne Seirs, im Lande Edom.
22Die Söhne Lotans waren: Hori und Hemam, und Lotans Schwester hieß Thimna.
23Und dies sind die Söhne Sobals: Alwan und Manahath und Ebal, Sepho und Onam.
24Und dies sind die Söhne Zibeons: Ajja und Ana. Das ist derselbe Ana, der die heißen Quellen in der Wüste entdeckte, als er seinem Vater Zibeon die Esel hütete.

37Nach Samlas Tode wurde Saul aus Rehoboth am Euphratstrom König an seiner Statt.
38Nach Sauls Tode wurde König an seiner Statt Baal-Hanan, der Sohn Achbors.
39Als Baal-Hanan, der Sohn Achbors, starb, wurde König an seiner Statt Hadar, dessen Hauptstadt Pagu hieß; seine Frau hieß Mehetabeel und war die Tochter Matreds, die Enkelin Mesahabs.
40Dies sind die Namen der Gaufürsten Esaus nach ihren Geschlechtern, nach ihren Wohnplätzen und mit ihren Namen: der Häuptling von Thimna, der Häuptling von Alwa, der Häuptling von Jetheth,
41der Häuptling von Oholibama, der Häuptling von Ela, der Häuptling von Pinon,
42der Häuptling von Kenas, der Häuptling von Theman, der Häuptling von Mibzar,
43der Häuptling von Magdiel, der Häuptling von Iram. Das sind die Häuptlinge der Edomiter nach ihren Wohnsitzen in dem Lande, das sie in Besitz genommen hatten. Das ist Esau, der Stammvater der Edomiter.

4And Adah bare to Esau Eliphaz; and Bashemath bare Reuel;
5And Aholibamah bare Jeush, and Jaalam, and Korah: these are the sons of Esau, which were born unto him in the land of Canaan.
6And Esau took his wives, and his sons, and his daughters, and all the persons of his house, and his cattle, and all his beasts, and all his substance, which he had got in the land of Canaan; and went into the country from the face of his brother Jacob.
7For their riches were more than that they might dwell together; and the land wherein they were strangers could not bear them because of their cattle.
8Thus dwelt Esau in mount Seir: Esau is Edom.
9And these are the generations of Esau the father of the Edomites in mount Seir:

3and Basemath, Ishmael’s daughter, sister of Nebaioth.
4Adah bore to Esau Eliphaz. Basemath bore Reuel.
5Oholibamah bore Jeush, Jalam, and Korah. These are the sons of Esau, who were born to him in the land of Canaan.
6Esau took his wives, his sons, his daughters, and all the members of his household, with his livestock, all his animals, and all his possessions, which he had gathered in the land of Canaan, and went into a land away from his brother Jacob.
7For their substance was too great for them to dwell together, and the land of their travels couldn’t bear them because of their livestock.
8Esau lived in the hill country of Seir. Esau is Edom.
9This is the history of the generations of Esau the father of the Edomites in the hill country of Seir:
