De longe Jacó viu que Esaú estava vindo ao seu encontro, e com ele vinham quatrocentos homens. Então ele dividiu os filhos entre Lia, Raquel e as duas servas.

Y ALZANDO Jacob sus ojos miró, y he aquí venía Esaú, y los cuatrocientos hombres con él: entonces repartió él los niños entre Lea y Rachêl y las dos siervas.

And Jacob lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, Esau came, and with him four hundred men. And he divided the children unto Leah, and unto Rachel, and unto the two handmaids.

Ele colocou as servas e seus filhos à frente, em seguida Lia e seus filhos, e por último Raquel com José.

And he put the handmaids and their children foremost, and Leah and her children after, and Rachel and Joseph hindermost.

Depois, ele mesmo passou à frente e, à medida que se aproximava do seu irmão, Jacó inclinou-se sete vezes.

And he passed over before them, and bowed himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother.

Mas Esaú correu ao seu encontro e o abraçou. Ele colocou seus braços ao redor do pescoço de Jacó e o beijou. E os dois choraram.

Então Esaú viu as mulheres e as crianças e perguntou: “Quem são esses que estão com você?” “São os filhos que Deus bondosamente concedeu ao seu servo”, respondeu-lhe Jacó.

And he lifted up his eyes, and saw the women and the children; and said, Who are those with thee? And he said, The children which God hath graciously given thy servant.

Nesse meio-tempo, se aproximaram as servas e seus filhos e se inclinaram diante de Esaú.

Y se llegaron las siervas, ellas y sus niños, é inclináronse.

Then the handmaidens came near, they and their children, and they bowed themselves.

Aproximaram-se também Lia e seus filhos e se inclinaram. Finalmente, aproximaram-se Raquel e José e se inclinaram.

And Leah also with her children came near, and bowed themselves: and after came Joseph near and Rachel, and they bowed themselves.

Esaú então perguntou: “Com que intenção você mandou todos esses rebanhos que encontrei?” Jacó respondeu: “Para ser bem recebido diante do meu senhor”.

Y él dijo: ¿Qué te propones con todas estas cuadrillas que he encontrado? Y él respondió: El hallar gracia en los ojos de mi señor.

And he said, What meanest thou by all this drove which I met? And he said, These are to find grace in the sight of my lord.

Esau said, “What do you mean by all this company which I met?” Jacob said, “To find favor in the sight of my lord.”

Esaú, porém, disse: “Eu já tenho muitas riquezas, meu irmão. Guarde o que é seu”.

Y dijo Esaú: Harto tengo yo, hermano mío: sea para ti lo que es tuyo.

And Esau said, I have enough, my brother; keep that thou hast unto thyself.

Esau said, “I have enough, my brother; let that which you have be yours.”

“Não recuse!”, insistiu Jacó. “Se existe aprovação da sua parte, por favor aceite o meu presente, porque ver a sua face é como contemplar a face de Deus; além disso, o senhor me recebeu tão bem.

Y dijo Jacob: No, yo te ruego, si he hallado ahora gracia en tus ojos, toma mi presente de mi mano, pues que así he visto tu rostro, como si hubiera visto el rostro de Dios; y hazme placer.

And Jacob said, Nay, I pray thee, if now I have found grace in thy sight, then receive my present at my hand: for therefore I have seen thy face, as though I had seen the face of God, and thou wast pleased with me.

Jacob said, “Please, no, if I have now found favor in your sight, then receive my present at my hand, because I have seen your face, as one sees the face of God, and you were pleased with me.

Aceite, pois, o presente que eu lhe trouxe. Deus tem sido muito generoso comigo. O que tenho é mais do que suficiente para mim”. E insistiu tanto que Esaú acabou aceitando.

Toma, te ruego, mi dádiva que te es traída; porque Dios me ha hecho merced, y todo lo que hay aquí es mío. Y porfió con él, y tomóla.

Take, I pray thee, my blessing that is brought to thee; because God hath dealt graciously with me, and because I have enough. And he urged him, and he took it.

Please take the gift that I brought to you, because God has dealt graciously with me, and because I have enough.” He urged him, and he took it.

Esaú disse: “Vamos seguir em frente. Eu seguirei com você”.

Y dijo: Anda, y vamos; y yo iré delante de ti.

And he said, Let us take our journey, and let us go, and I will go before thee.

Jacó, porém, lhe disse: “Meu senhor sabe que as crianças que trago são frágeis. Além disso, tenho comigo ovelhas e vacas de leite, que amamentam suas crias. Se forçá-las demais num só dia, morrerão todos os rebanhos.

Y él le dijo: Mi señor sabe que los niños son tiernos, y que tengo ovejas y vacas paridas; y si las fatigan, en un día morirán todas las ovejas.

And he said unto him, My lord knoweth that the children are tender, and the flocks and herds with young are with me: and if men should overdrive them one day, all the flock will die.

Jacob said to him, “My lord knows that the children are tender, and that the flocks and herds with me have their young, and if they overdrive them one day, all the flocks will die.

Portanto, é melhor que meu senhor vá à frente de seu servo. Nós iremos mais devagar, acompanhando o passo dos rebanhos e das crianças, até me encontrar com o meu senhor em Seir”.

Pase ahora mi señor delante de su siervo, y yo me iré poco á poco al paso de la hacienda que va delante de mí, y al paso de los niños, hasta que llegue á mi señor á Seir.

Let my lord, I pray thee, pass over before his servant: and I will lead on softly, according as the cattle that goeth before me and the children be able to endure, until I come unto my lord unto Seir.

Please let my lord pass over before his servant, and I will lead on gently, according to the pace of the livestock that are before me and according to the pace of the children, until I come to my lord to Seir.”

Esaú respondeu: “Então, pelo menos permita-me deixar alguns homens com você”. “Para quê?”, perguntou Jacó. “O fato de ser bem recebido pelo meu senhor já é o bastante para mim”.

Y Esaú dijo: Dejaré ahora contigo de la gente que viene conmigo. Y él dijo: ¿Para qué esto? halle yo gracia en los ojos de mi señor.

And Esau said, Let me now leave with thee some of the folk that are with me. And he said, What needeth it? let me find grace in the sight of my lord.

Esau said, “Let me now leave with you some of the people who are with me.” He said, “Why? Let me find favor in the sight of my lord.”

Assim Esaú começou a viagem de volta para Seir.

Así se volvió Esaú aquel día por su camino á Seir.

So Esau returned that day on his way unto Seir.

Enquanto isso, Jacó foi para Sucote. Ali Jacó construiu uma casa para si e abrigos para os animais. Por isso, aquele lugar recebeu o nome de Sucote.

Y Jacob se partió á Succoth, y edificó allí casa para sí, é hizo cabañas para su ganado: por tanto llamó el nombre de aquel lugar Succoth.

And Jacob journeyed to Succoth, and built him an house, and made booths for his cattle: therefore the name of the place is called Succoth.

Completando a viagem de volta de Padã-Arã, Jacó chegou são e salvo à cidade de Siquém, em Canaã, e acampou próximo da cidade.

Y vino Jacob sano á la ciudad de Sichêm, que está en la tierra de Canaán, cuando venía de Padan-aram; y acampó delante de la ciudad.

And Jacob came to Shalem, a city of Shechem, which is in the land of Canaan, when he came from Padan-aram; and pitched his tent before the city.

Ele comprou a parte do campo onde tinha montado o acampamento dos filhos de Hamor, pai de Siquém, por cem peças de prata.

Y compró una parte del campo, donde tendió su tienda, de mano de los hijos de Hamor, padre de Sichêm, por cien piezas de moneda.

And he bought a parcel of a field, where he had spread his tent, at the hand of the children of Hamor, Shechem’s father, for an hundred pieces of money.

Ali Jacó construiu um altar, ao qual deu o nome de El Elohe Israel.
