E Giacobbe mandò davanti a sè dei messi ad Esaù, suo fratello, nel paese di Seir, territorio di Edom.
Y envió Jacob mensajeros delante de sí á Esaú su hermano, á la tierra de Seir, campo de Edom.
And Jacob sent messengers before him to Esau his brother unto the land of Seir, the country of Edom.
Jacob sent messengers in front of him to Esau, his brother, to the land of Seir, the field of Edom.
E diede loro quest’ordine: Dite così ad Esaù, mio signore: Così ha detto il tuo servitore Giacobbe: Io sono stato forestiere appo Labano, e vi son dimorato infino ad ora.
Y mandóles diciendo: Así diréis á mi señor Esaú: Así dice tu siervo Jacob: Con Labán he morado, y detenídome hasta ahora;
And he commanded them, saying, Thus shall ye speak unto my lord Esau; Thy servant Jacob saith thus, I have sojourned with Laban, and stayed there until now:
He commanded them, saying, “This is what you shall tell my lord, Esau: ‘This is what your servant, Jacob, says. I have lived as a foreigner with Laban, and stayed until now.
Ed ho buoi, ed asini, e pecore, e servi, e serve; e mando significandolo al mio signore, per ritrovar grazia appo te.
Y tengo vacas, y asnos, y ovejas, y siervos y siervas; y envío á decirlo á mi señor, por hallar gracia en tus ojos.
And I have oxen, and asses, flocks, and menservants, and womenservants: and I have sent to tell my lord, that I may find grace in thy sight.
I have cattle, donkeys, flocks, male servants, and female servants. I have sent to tell my lord, that I may find favor in your sight.’”
E i messi se ne ritornarono a Giacobbe, e gli dissero: Noi siamo andati ad Esaù, tuo fratello; ed egli altresì ti viene incontro, menando seco quattrocent’uomini.
Y los mensajeros volvieron á Jacob, diciendo: Vinimos á tu hermano Esaú, y él también viene á recibirte, y cuatrocientos hombres con él.
And the messengers returned to Jacob, saying, We came to thy brother Esau, and also he cometh to meet thee, and four hundred men with him.
The messengers returned to Jacob, saying, “We came to your brother Esau. He is coming to meet you, and four hundred men are with him.”
E Giacobbe temette grandemente, e fu angosciato; e spartì la gente ch’era seco, e le gregge, e gli armenti, e i cammelli in due schiere.
Entonces Jacob tuvo gran temor, y angustióse; y partió el pueblo que tenía consigo, y las ovejas y las vacas y los camellos, en dos cuadrillas;
Then Jacob was greatly afraid and distressed: and he divided the people that was with him, and the flocks, and herds, and the camels, into two bands;
Then Jacob was greatly afraid and was distressed. He divided the people who were with him, along with the flocks, the herds, and the camels, into two companies.
E disse: Se Esaù viene ad una delle schiere, e la percuote, l’altra scamperà
Y dijo: Si viniere Esaú á la una cuadrilla y la hiriere, la otra cuadrilla escapará.
And said, If Esau come to the one company, and smite it, then the other company which is left shall escape.
He said, “If Esau comes to the one company, and strikes it, then the company which is left will escape.”
Poi Giacobbe disse: O Dio di Abrahamo, mio padre, e Dio parimente d’Isacco, mio padre; o Signore, che mi dicesti: Ritorna al tuo paese, ed al tuo luogo natio, ed io ti farò del bene,
Y dijo Jacob: Dios de mi padre Abraham, y Dios de mi padre Isaac, Jehová, que me dijiste: Vuélvete á tu tierra y á tu parentela, y yo te haré bien;
And Jacob said, O God of my father Abraham, and God of my father Isaac, the LORD which saidst unto me, Return unto thy country, and to thy kindred, and I will deal well with thee:

io son piccolo appo tutte le benignità, e tutta la lealtà che tu hai usata inverso il tuo servitore; perciocchè io passai questo Giordano col mio bastone solo, ed ora son divenuto due schiere.
Menor soy que todas las misericordias, y que toda la verdad que has usado para con tu siervo; que con mi bordón pasé este Jordán, y ahora estoy sobre dos cuadrillas.
I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies, and of all the truth, which thou hast shewed unto thy servant; for with my staff I passed over this Jordan; and now I am become two bands.
I am not worthy of the least of all the loving kindnesses, and of all the truth, which you have shown to your servant; for with just my staff I crossed over this Jordan; and now I have become two companies.
Liberami, ti prego, dalle mani del mio fratello, dalle mani di Esaù; perciocchè io temo di lui, che talora egli non venga, e mi percuota, madre e figliuoli insieme.
Líbrame ahora de la mano de mi hermano, de la mano de Esaú, porque le temo; no venga quizá, y me hiera la madre con los hijos.
Deliver me, I pray thee, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau: for I fear him, lest he will come and smite me, and the mother with the children.

E pur tu hai detto: Per certo io ti farò del bene, e farò che la tua progenie sarà come la rena del mare, la qual non si può annoverare per la sua moltitudine
Y tú has dicho: Yo te haré bien, y pondré tu simiente como la arena del mar, que no se puede contar por la multitud.
And thou saidst, I will surely do thee good, and make thy seed as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.
You said, ‘I will surely do you good, and make your offspring as the sand of the sea, which can’t be counted because there are so many.’”
Ed egli dimorò quivi quella notte; e prese di ciò che gli venne in mano per farne un presente ad Esaù, suo fratello;
Y durmió allí aquella noche, y tomó de lo que le vino á la mano un presente para su hermano Esaú:
And he lodged there that same night; and took of that which came to his hand a present for Esau his brother;
He stayed there that night, and took from that which he had with him a present for Esau, his brother:
cioè dugento capre, e venti becchi; dugento pecore, e venti montoni;
Doscientas cabras y veinte machos de cabrío, doscientas ovejas y veinte carneros,
Two hundred she goats, and twenty he goats, two hundred ewes, and twenty rams,
two hundred female goats and twenty male goats, two hundred ewes and twenty rams,
trenta cammelle allattanti, insieme co’ lor figli; quaranta vacche, e dieci giovenchi; venti asine, e dieci puledri d’asini.

E diede ciascuna greggia da parte in mano ai suoi servitori; e disse loro: Passate davanti a me, e fate che vi sia alquanto spazio fra una greggia e l’altra.
Y entrególo en mano de sus siervos, cada manada de por sí; y dijo á sus siervos: Pasad delante de mí, y poned espacio entre manada y manada.
And he delivered them into the hand of his servants, every drove by themselves; and said unto his servants, Pass over before me, and put a space betwixt drove and drove.
He delivered them into the hands of his servants, every herd by itself, and said to his servants, “Pass over before me, and put a space between herd and herd.”
E diede quest’ordine al primo: Quando Esaù, mio fratello, ti scontrerà, e ti domanderà: Di cui sei tu? e dove vai? e di cui son questi animali che vanno davanti a te?
Y mandó al primero, diciendo: Si Esaú mi hermano te encontrare, y te preguntare, diciendo: ¿De quién eres? ¿y adónde vas? ¿y para quién es esto que llevas delante de ti?
And he commanded the foremost, saying, When Esau my brother meeteth thee, and asketh thee, saying, Whose art thou? and whither goest thou? and whose are these before thee?
He commanded the foremost, saying, “When Esau, my brother, meets you, and asks you, saying, ‘Whose are you? Where are you going? Whose are these before you?’
di’: Io son del tuo servitore Giacobbe; quest’è un presente mandato al mio signore Esaù; ed ecco, egli stesso viene dietro a noi.
Entonces dirás: Presente es de tu siervo Jacob, que envía á mi señor Esaú; y he aquí también él viene tras nosotros.
Then thou shalt say, They be thy servant Jacob’s; it is a present sent unto my lord Esau: and, behold, also he is behind us.
Then you shall say, ‘They are your servant, Jacob’s. It is a present sent to my lord, Esau. Behold, he also is behind us.’”
E diede lo stesso ordine al secondo, ed al terzo, ed a tutti que’ servitori che andavano dietro a quelle gregge; dicendo: Parlate ad Esaù in questa maniera, quando voi lo troverete.
Y mandó también al segundo, y al tercero, y á todos los que iban tras aquellas manadas, diciendo: Conforme á esto hablaréis á Esaú, cuando le hallareis.
And so commanded he the second, and the third, and all that followed the droves, saying, On this manner shall ye speak unto Esau, when ye find him.
He commanded also the second, and the third, and all that followed the herds, saying, “This is how you shall speak to Esau, when you find him.
E ditegli ancora: Ecco il tuo servitore Giacobbe dietro a noi. Perciocchè egli diceva: Io lo placherò col presente che va davanti a me; e poi potrò veder la sua faccia; forse mi farà egli buona accoglienza.
Y diréis también: He aquí tu siervo Jacob viene tras nosotros. Porque dijo: Apaciguaré su ira con el presente que va delante de mí, y después veré su rostro: quizá le seré acepto.
And say ye moreover, Behold, thy servant Jacob is behind us. For he said, I will appease him with the present that goeth before me, and afterward I will see his face; peradventure he will accept of me.
You shall say, ‘Not only that, but behold, your servant, Jacob, is behind us.’” For, he said, “I will appease him with the present that goes before me, and afterward I will see his face. Perhaps he will accept me.”
Quel presente adunque passò davanti a lui; ed egli dimorò quella notte nel campo.
Y pasó el presente delante de él; y él durmió aquella noche en el campamento.
So went the present over before him: and himself lodged that night in the company.
So the present passed over before him, and he himself stayed that night in the camp.
Ed egli si levò di notte, e prese le sue due mogli, e le sue due serve, e i suoi undici figliuoli; e passò il guado di Iabboc.
Y levantóse aquella noche, y tomó sus dos mujeres, y sus dos siervas, y sus once hijos, y pasó el vado de Jaboc.
And he rose up that night, and took his two wives, and his two womenservants, and his eleven sons, and passed over the ford Jabbok.

E, dopo che li ebbe presi, ed ebbe loro fatto passare il torrente, fece passare tutto il rimanente delle cose sue
Tomólos pues, y pasólos el arroyo, é hizo pasar lo que tenía.
And he took them, and sent them over the brook, and sent over that he had.

E Giacobbe restò solo; ed un uomo lottò con lui fino all’apparir dell’alba.
Y quedóse Jacob solo, y luchó con él un varón hasta que rayaba el alba.
And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.

Ed esso, veggendo che non lo potea vincere, gli toccò la giuntura della coscia; e la giuntura della coscia di Giacobbe fu smossa, mentre quell’uomo lottava con lui.
Y como vió que no podía con él, tocó en el sitio del encaje de su muslo, y descoyuntóse el muslo de Jacob mientras con él luchaba.
And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.
When he saw that he didn’t prevail against him, the man touched the hollow of his thigh, and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was strained as he wrestled.
E quell’uomo gli disse: Lasciami andare; perciocchè già spunta l’alba. E Giacobbe gli disse: Io non ti lascerò andare, che tu non mi abbi benedetto.
Y dijo: Déjame, que raya el alba. Y él dijo: No te dejaré, si no me bendices.
And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.
The man said, “Let me go, for the day breaks.” Jacob said, “I won’t let you go unless you bless me.”
E quell’uomo gli disse: Quale è il tuo nome?
Y él le dijo: ¿Cuál es tu nombre? Y él respondió: Jacob.
And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob.
He said to him, “What is your name?” He said, “Jacob”.
Ed egli disse: Giacobbe. E quell’uomo gli disse: Tu non sarai più chiamato Giacobbe, anzi Israele; conciossiachè tu sii stato prode e valente con Dio e con gli uomini, ed abbi vinto.
Y él dijo: No se dirá más tu nombre Jacob, sino Israel: porque has peleado con Dios y con los hombres, y has vencido.
And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.
He said, “Your name will no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have fought with God and with men, and have prevailed.”
E Giacobbe lo domandò, e gli disse: Deh! dichiarami il tuo nome. Ed egli disse: Perchè domandi del mio nome?
Entonces Jacob le preguntó, y dijo: Declárame ahora tu nombre. Y él respondió: ¿Por qué preguntas por mi nombre? Y bendíjolo allí.
And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there.
Jacob asked him, “Please tell me your name.” He said, “Why is it that you ask what my name is?” So he blessed him there.
E quivi lo benedisse. E Giacobbe pose nome a quel luogo Peniel; perciocchè disse: Io ho veduto Iddio a faccia a faccia; e pur la vita mi è stata salvata.
Y llamó Jacob el nombre de aquel lugar, Peniel: porque vi á Dios cara á cara, y fué librada mi alma.
And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.
Jacob called the name of the place Peniel; for he said, “I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.”
E il sole gli si levò come fu passato Peniel; ed egli zoppicava della coscia.
Y salióle el sol pasado que hubo á Peniel; y cojeaba de su anca.
And as he passed over Penuel the sun rose upon him, and he halted upon his thigh.
The sun rose on him as he passed over Peniel, and he limped because of his thigh.
Perciò i figliuoli d’Israele non mangiano fino ad oggi del muscolo della commessura dell’anca ch’è sopra la giuntura della coscia; perciocchè quell’uomo toccò la giuntura della coscia di Giacobbe, al muscolo della commessura dell’anca
Por esto no comen los hijos de Israel, hasta hoy día, del tendón que se contrajo, el cual está en el encaje del muslo: porque tocó á Jacob este sitio de su muslo en el tendón que se contrajo.
Therefore the children of Israel eat not of the sinew which shrank, which is upon the hollow of the thigh, unto this day: because he touched the hollow of Jacob’s thigh in the sinew that shrank.
Therefore the children of Israel don’t eat the sinew of the hip, which is on the hollow of the thigh, to this day, because he touched the hollow of Jacob’s thigh in the sinew of the hip.
