Laban se leva de bon matin ; il baisa ses fils et ses filles et les bénit ; puis il partit, pour retourner dans sa maison.

Y JACOB se fué su camino, y saliéronle al encuentro ángeles de Dios.

Y dijo Jacob cuando los vió: El campo de Dios es este: y llamó el nombre de aquel lugar Mahanaim.

And when Jacob saw them, he said, This is God’s host: and he called the name of that place Mahanaim.

When he saw them, Jacob said, “This is God’s army.” He called the name of that place Mahanaim.

En les voyant, il dit : " C`est le camp de Dieu ! " et il donna à ce lieu le nom de Maha-ïm.

Y envió Jacob mensajeros delante de sí á Esaú su hermano, á la tierra de Seir, campo de Edom.

And Jacob sent messengers before him to Esau his brother unto the land of Seir, the country of Edom.

Jacob sent messengers in front of him to Esau, his brother, to the land of Seir, the field of Edom.

Jacob envoya devant lui des messa­gers vers Esaü, son frère, au pays de Seïr, dans la campagne d`Edom.

Y mandóles diciendo: Así diréis á mi señor Esaú: Así dice tu siervo Jacob: Con Labán he morado, y detenídome hasta ahora;

And he commanded them, saying, Thus shall ye speak unto my lord Esau; Thy servant Jacob saith thus, I have sojourned with Laban, and stayed there until now:

He commanded them, saying, “This is what you shall tell my lord, Esau: ‘This is what your servant, Jacob, says. I have lived as a foreigner with Laban, and stayed until now.

Il leur donna cet ordre : " Voici ce que vous direz à mon seigneur, à Esaü : Ainsi parle ton serviteur Jacob : J`ai séjourné chez Laban et j`y suis resté jusqu`à pré­sent,

Y tengo vacas, y asnos, y ovejas, y siervos y siervas; y envío á decirlo á mi señor, por hallar gracia en tus ojos.

And I have oxen, and asses, flocks, and menservants, and womenservants: and I have sent to tell my lord, that I may find grace in thy sight.

I have cattle, donkeys, flocks, male servants, and female servants. I have sent to tell my lord, that I may find favor in your sight.’”

J`ai des boeufs et des ânes, des bre­bis, des serviteurs et des servantes, et j`en fais informer mon seigneur, pour trouver grâce à tes yeux. "

Y los mensajeros volvieron á Jacob, diciendo: Vinimos á tu hermano Esaú, y él también viene á recibirte, y cuatrocientos hombres con él.

And the messengers returned to Jacob, saying, We came to thy brother Esau, and also he cometh to meet thee, and four hundred men with him.

The messengers returned to Jacob, saying, “We came to your brother Esau. He is coming to meet you, and four hundred men are with him.”

Les messagers revinrent auprès de Jacob en disant : " Nous sommes allés vers ton frère Esaü, et il marche à ta rencontre avec quatre cents hommes. "

Entonces Jacob tuvo gran temor, y angustióse; y partió el pueblo que tenía consigo, y las ovejas y las vacas y los camellos, en dos cuadrillas;

Then Jacob was greatly afraid and distressed: and he divided the people that was with him, and the flocks, and herds, and the camels, into two bands;

Then Jacob was greatly afraid and was distressed. He divided the people who were with him, along with the flocks, the herds, and the camels, into two companies.

Jacob eut une grande frayeur et fut dans l`an­goisse. Il partagea en deux camps les gens qui étaient avec lui, les brebis les boeufs et les chameaux,

Y dijo: Si viniere Esaú á la una cuadrilla y la hiriere, la otra cuadrilla escapará.

And said, If Esau come to the one company, and smite it, then the other company which is left shall escape.

He said, “If Esau comes to the one company, and strikes it, then the company which is left will escape.”

et il dit : " Si Esaü rencontre l`un des camps et le frappe, le camp qui restera pourra être sauvé. "

Y dijo Jacob: Dios de mi padre Abraham, y Dios de mi padre Isaac, Jehová, que me dijiste: Vuélvete á tu tierra y á tu parentela, y yo te haré bien;

And Jacob said, O God of my father Abraham, and God of my father Isaac, the LORD which saidst unto me, Return unto thy country, and to thy kindred, and I will deal well with thee:

Jacob said, “God of my father Abraham, and God of my father Isaac, the LORD, who said to me, ‘Return to your country, and to your relatives, and I will do you good,’

Jacob dit : " Dieu de mon père Abra­ham, Dieu de mon père Isaac, Yahweh, qui m`avez dit: Retourne en ton pays et au lieu de ta naissance, et je te ferai du bien

Menor soy que todas las misericordias, y que toda la verdad que has usado para con tu siervo; que con mi bordón pasé este Jordán, y ahora estoy sobre dos cuadrillas.

I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies, and of all the truth, which thou hast shewed unto thy servant; for with my staff I passed over this Jordan; and now I am become two bands.

I am not worthy of the least of all the loving kindnesses, and of all the truth, which you have shown to your servant; for with just my staff I crossed over this Jordan; and now I have become two companies.

je suis trop petit pour toutes les grâces et pour toute la fidélité dont vous avez usé envers votre serviteur; car j`ai passé ce Jourdain avec mon bâton, et maintenant je suis devenu deux camps.

Líbrame ahora de la mano de mi hermano, de la mano de Esaú, porque le temo; no venga quizá, y me hiera la madre con los hijos.

Deliver me, I pray thee, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau: for I fear him, lest he will come and smite me, and the mother with the children.

Please deliver me from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau; for I fear him, lest he come and strike me and the mothers with the children.

Délivrez-moi, je vous prie, de la main de mon frère, de la main d`Esaü ; car je crains qu`il ne vienne me frapper, la mère avec les enfants.

Y tú has dicho: Yo te haré bien, y pondré tu simiente como la arena del mar, que no se puede contar por la multitud.

And thou saidst, I will surely do thee good, and make thy seed as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.

You said, ‘I will surely do you good, and make your offspring as the sand of the sea, which can’t be counted because there are so many.’”

Et vous, vous avez dit: Je te ferai du bien et je rendrai ta postérité pareille au sable de la mer, si nombreux qu`on ne peut le compter. "

Y durmió allí aquella noche, y tomó de lo que le vino á la mano un presente para su hermano Esaú:

And he lodged there that same night; and took of that which came to his hand a present for Esau his brother;

He stayed there that night, and took from that which he had with him a present for Esau, his brother:

Jacob passa là cette nuit. Et il prit de ce qu`il avait sous la main, pour faire un présent à Esaü, son frère :

Doscientas cabras y veinte machos de cabrío, doscientas ovejas y veinte carneros,

Two hundred she goats, and twenty he goats, two hundred ewes, and twenty rams,

two hundred female goats and twenty male goats, two hundred ewes and twenty rams,

deux cents chèvres et vingt boucs, deux cents bre­bis et vingt béliers,

Treinta camellas paridas, con sus hijos, cuarenta vacas y diez novillos, veinte asnas y diez borricos.

Thirty milch camels with their colts, forty kine, and ten bulls, twenty she asses, and ten foals.

thirty milk camels and their colts, forty cows, ten bulls, twenty female donkeys and ten foals.

trente chamelles qui allaitaient, avec leurs petits, quarante vaches et dix taureaux, vingt ânesses et dix

Y entrególo en mano de sus siervos, cada manada de por sí; y dijo á sus siervos: Pasad delante de mí, y poned espacio entre manada y manada.

And he delivered them into the hand of his servants, every drove by themselves; and said unto his servants, Pass over before me, and put a space betwixt drove and drove.

He delivered them into the hands of his servants, every herd by itself, and said to his servants, “Pass over before me, and put a space between herd and herd.”

Il les remit à ses serviteurs, chaque troupeau à part, et il leur dit : " Passez devant moi, et laissez un inter­valle entre chaque troupeau. "

Y mandó al primero, diciendo: Si Esaú mi hermano te encontrare, y te preguntare, diciendo: ¿De quién eres? ¿y adónde vas? ¿y para quién es esto que llevas delante de ti?

And he commanded the foremost, saying, When Esau my brother meeteth thee, and asketh thee, saying, Whose art thou? and whither goest thou? and whose are these before thee?

He commanded the foremost, saying, “When Esau, my brother, meets you, and asks you, saying, ‘Whose are you? Where are you going? Whose are these before you?’

Et il donna ordre au premier : " Quand Esaü, mon frère, te rencontrera et te demandera : A qui es-tu, où vas-tu, à qui appartient ce troupeau qui va devant toi?

Entonces dirás: Presente es de tu siervo Jacob, que envía á mi señor Esaú; y he aquí también él viene tras nosotros.

Then thou shalt say, They be thy servant Jacob’s; it is a present sent unto my lord Esau: and, behold, also he is behind us.

Then you shall say, ‘They are your servant, Jacob’s. It is a present sent to my lord, Esau. Behold, he also is behind us.’”

tu répondras : A ton serviteur Jacob ; c`est un présent qu`il envoie à mon seigneur, à Esaü ; et voici que lui-même vient derrière nous. "

Y mandó también al segundo, y al tercero, y á todos los que iban tras aquellas manadas, diciendo: Conforme á esto hablaréis á Esaú, cuando le hallareis.

And so commanded he the second, and the third, and all that followed the droves, saying, On this manner shall ye speak unto Esau, when ye find him.

He commanded also the second, and the third, and all that followed the herds, saying, “This is how you shall speak to Esau, when you find him.

Il donna le même ordre au second, au troisième et à tous ceux qui suivaient les troupeaux, en disant: "Vous parlerez ainsi à Esaü quand vous le ren­contrerez ; vous direz :

Y diréis también: He aquí tu siervo Jacob viene tras nosotros. Porque dijo: Apaciguaré su ira con el presente que va delante de mí, y después veré su rostro: quizá le seré acepto.

And say ye moreover, Behold, thy servant Jacob is behind us. For he said, I will appease him with the present that goeth before me, and afterward I will see his face; peradventure he will accept of me.

You shall say, ‘Not only that, but behold, your servant, Jacob, is behind us.’” For, he said, “I will appease him with the present that goes before me, and afterward I will see his face. Perhaps he will accept me.”

Voici, ton serviteur Jacob vient aussi derrière nous. " Car il se disait : " Je l`apaiserai par ce présent qui va devant moi, et ensuite je verrai sa face ; peut-être me fera-t-il bon accueil. "

Y pasó el presente delante de él; y él durmió aquella noche en el campamento.

So went the present over before him: and himself lodged that night in the company.

So the present passed over before him, and he himself stayed that night in the camp.

Le présent passa devant lui, et il resta cette nuit-là dans le camp.

Y levantóse aquella noche, y tomó sus dos mujeres, y sus dos siervas, y sus once hijos, y pasó el vado de Jaboc.

And he rose up that night, and took his two wives, and his two womenservants, and his eleven sons, and passed over the ford Jabbok.

He rose up that night, and took his two wives, and his two servants, and his eleven sons, and crossed over the ford of the Jabbok.

Il se leva dans la même nuit et, ayant pris ses deux femmes, ses deux servan­tes et ses onze enfants, il passa le gué du Jabot.

Tomólos pues, y pasólos el arroyo, é hizo pasar lo que tenía.

And he took them, and sent them over the brook, and sent over that he had.

Il les prit et leur fit passer le torrent ; il fit aussi passer ce qui lui appar­tenait.

Y quedóse Jacob solo, y luchó con él un varón hasta que rayaba el alba.

And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.

Jacob resta seul; et un homme lutta avec lui jusqu`au lever de l`aurore.

Y como vió que no podía con él, tocó en el sitio del encaje de su muslo, y descoyuntóse el muslo de Jacob mientras con él luchaba.

And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.

When he saw that he didn’t prevail against him, the man touched the hollow of his thigh, and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was strained as he wrestled.

Voyant qu`il ne pouvait le vaincre, il le toucha à l`articulation de la hanche, et l`articula­tion de la hanche de Jacob se démit pen­dant qu`il luttait avec lui.

Y dijo: Déjame, que raya el alba. Y él dijo: No te dejaré, si no me bendices.

And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.

The man said, “Let me go, for the day breaks.” Jacob said, “I won’t let you go unless you bless me.”

Et il dit à Jacob : " Laisse-moi aller, car l`aurore se lève. " Jacob répondit : " Je ne te lais­serai point aller que tu ne m`aies béni. "

Y él le dijo: ¿Cuál es tu nombre? Y él respondió: Jacob.

And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob.

He said to him, “What is your name?” He said, “Jacob”.

Il lui dit : " Quel est ton nom? " Il répondit : " Jacob. "

Y él dijo: No se dirá más tu nombre Jacob, sino Israel: porque has peleado con Dios y con los hombres, y has vencido.

And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.

He said, “Your name will no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have fought with God and with men, and have prevailed.”

Et il dit : " Ton nom ne sera plus Jacob, mais Israël, car tu as combattu avec Dieu et avec des hommes, et tu l`as emporté. "

Entonces Jacob le preguntó, y dijo: Declárame ahora tu nombre. Y él respondió: ¿Por qué preguntas por mi nombre? Y bendíjolo allí.

And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there.

Jacob asked him, “Please tell me your name.” He said, “Why is it that you ask what my name is?” So he blessed him there.

Jacob l`interrogea, en disant : " Fais-moi, je te prie, con­naître ton nom. " Il dit : " Pourquoi de­mandes-tu quel est mon nom? "

Y llamó Jacob el nombre de aquel lugar, Peniel: porque vi á Dios cara á cara, y fué librada mi alma.

And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.

Jacob called the name of the place Peniel; for he said, “I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.”

Et il le bénit là. Jacob nomma ce lieu Phanuel ; " car, dit-il, j`ai vu Dieu face à face, et ma vie a été

Y salióle el sol pasado que hubo á Peniel; y cojeaba de su anca.

And as he passed over Penuel the sun rose upon him, and he halted upon his thigh.

The sun rose on him as he passed over Peniel, and he limped because of his thigh.

Et le soleil se leva quand il eut passé Phanuel, mais il boitait de la hanche. (32:33)C`est pourquoi les enfants d`Israël ne mangent point jusqu`à ce jour le grand nerf qui est à l`articula­tion de la hanche, parce que Dieu a touché l`articulation de la hanche de Jacob au grand nerf.

Por esto no comen los hijos de Israel, hasta hoy día, del tendón que se contrajo, el cual está en el encaje del muslo: porque tocó á Jacob este sitio de su muslo en el tendón que se contrajo.

Therefore the children of Israel eat not of the sinew which shrank, which is upon the hollow of the thigh, unto this day: because he touched the hollow of Jacob’s thigh in the sinew that shrank.

Therefore the children of Israel don’t eat the sinew of the hip, which is on the hollow of the thigh, to this day, because he touched the hollow of Jacob’s thigh in the sinew of the hip.
