Ma Rachele veggendosi sterile, portava invidia alla sorella, e disse al suo marito: Dammi de' figli, altrimenti io morrò.

Y VIENDO Rachêl que no daba hijos á Jacob, tuvo envidia de su hermana, y decía á Jacob: Dame hijos, ó si no, me muero.

And when Rachel saw that she bare Jacob no children, Rachel envied her sister; and said unto Jacob, Give me children, or else I die.

When Rachel saw that she bore Jacob no children, Rachel envied her sister. She said to Jacob, “Give me children, or else I will die.”

Le rispose disgustato Giacobbe: Tengo io il luogo di Dio, il quale ti ha privata della fecondità?

Y Jacob se enojaba contra Rachêl, y decía: ¿Soy yo en lugar de Dios, que te impidió el fruto de tu vientre?

And Jacob’s anger was kindled against Rachel: and he said, Am I in God’s stead, who hath withheld from thee the fruit of the womb?

Jacob’s anger burned against Rachel, and he said, “Am I in God’s place, who has withheld from you the fruit of the womb?”

Ed ella: Io ho, disse, la serva Bala: prendila, affinché la prole di lei io mi prenda sulle mie ginocchia, e di lei io abbia de' figli.

Y ella dijo: He aquí mi sierva Bilha; entra á ella, y parirá sobre mis rodillas, y yo también tendré hijos de ella.

And she said, Behold my maid Bilhah, go in unto her; and she shall bear upon my knees, that I may also have children by her.

She said, “Behold, my maid Bilhah. Go in to her, that she may bear on my knees, and I also may obtain children by her.”

E diede a lui Bala per moglie: la quale

Así le dió á Bilha su sierva por mujer; y Jacob entró á ella.

And she gave him Bilhah her handmaid to wife: and Jacob went in unto her.

She gave him Bilhah her servant as wife, and Jacob went in to her.

Data a marito concepì, e partorì un figliuolo.

Y concibió Bilha, y parió á Jacob un hijo.

And Bilhah conceived, and bare Jacob a son.

Bilhah conceived, and bore Jacob a son.

E disse Rachele: il Signore ha giudicato in mio favore, e ha esaudita la mia voce, dandomi un figlio: e per questo chiamollo col nome di Dan.

Y dijo Rachêl: Juzgóme Dios, y también oyó mi voz, y dióme un hijo. Por tanto llamó su nombre Dan.

And Rachel said, God hath judged me, and hath also heard my voice, and hath given me a son: therefore called she his name Dan.

Rachel said, “God has judged me, and has also heard my voice, and has given me a son.” Therefore she called his name Dan.

E di nuovo Bala ingravidò, e partorinne un altro,

Y concibió otra vez Bilha, la sierva de Rachêl, y parió el hijo segundo á Jacob.

And Bilhah Rachel’s maid conceived again, and bare Jacob a second son.

Bilhah, Rachel’s servant, conceived again, and bore Jacob a second son.

In proposito del quale disse Rachele: il Signore mi ha messa alle mani colla mia sorella, e io l'ho vinta; e chiamollo Nephtali.

Y dijo Rachêl: Con luchas de Dios he contendido con mi hermana, y he vencido. Y llamó su nombre Nephtalí.

And Rachel said, With great wrestlings have I wrestled with my sister, and I have prevailed: and she called his name Naphtali.

Rachel said, “I have wrestled with my sister with mighty wrestlings, and have prevailed.” She named him Naphtali.

Veggendo Lia, come avea lasciato di far figliuoli, diede a suo marito la sua schiava Zelpha.

Y viendo Lea que había dejado de parir, tomó á Zilpa su sierva, y dióla á Jacob por mujer.

When Leah saw that she had left bearing, she took Zilpah her maid, and gave her Jacob to wife.

When Leah saw that she had finished bearing, she took Zilpah, her servant, and gave her to Jacob as a wife.

E avendo questa concepito, e partorito un figliuolo,

Y Zilpa, sierva de Lea, parió á Jacob un hijo.

And Zilpah Leah’s maid bare Jacob a son.

Zilpah, Leah’s servant, bore Jacob a son.

Disse ella: Fortuna: e chiamollo perciò col nome di Gad.

Y dijo Lea: Vino la ventura. Y llamó su nombre Gad.

And Leah said, A troop cometh: and she called his name Gad.

Leah said, “How fortunate!” She named him Gad.

Ne partorì Zelpha anche un altro.

Y Zilpa, la sierva de Lea, parió otro hijo á Jacob.

And Zilpah Leah’s maid bare Jacob a second son.

Zilpah, Leah’s servant, bore Jacob a second son.

E Lia disse: Questo è per mia beatitudine: perocché beata mi diranno le donne: per questo lo chiamò Aser.

Y dijo Lea: Para dicha mía; porque las mujeres me dirán dichosa: y llamó su nombre Aser.

And Leah said, Happy am I, for the daughters will call me blessed: and she called his name Asher.

Leah said, “Happy am I, for the daughters will call me happy.” She named him Asher.

Ma essendo Ruben andato alla campagna in tempo che mietevasi il grano, trovò delle mandragore, le quali egli portò a sua madre Lia. Ma Rachele disse: Fammi parte delle mandragore di tuo figlio.

Y fué Rubén en tiempo de la siega de los trigos, y halló mandrágoras en el campo, y trájolas á Lea su madre: y dijo Rachêl á Lea: Ruégote que me des de las mandrágoras de tu hijo.

And Reuben went in the days of wheat harvest, and found mandrakes in the field, and brought them unto his mother Leah. Then Rachel said to Leah, Give me, I pray thee, of thy son’s mandrakes.

Rispose quella: Ti sembra egli poco l'avermi rapito il consorte, se non mi togli anche le mandragore del mio figlio? Disse Rachele: Dorma egli questa notte con te in ricompensa delle mandragore di tuo figlio.

Y ella respondió: ¿Es poco que hayas tomado mi marido, sino que también te has de llevar las mandrágoras de mi hijo? y dijo Rachêl: Pues dormirá contigo esta noche por las mandrágoras de tu hijo.

And she said unto her, Is it a small matter that thou hast taken my husband? and wouldest thou take away my son’s mandrakes also? And Rachel said, Therefore he shall lie with thee to night for thy son’s mandrakes.

Leah said to her, “Is it a small matter that you have taken away my husband? Would you take away my son’s mandrakes, also?” Rachel said, “Therefore he will lie with you tonight for your son’s mandrakes.”

E tornando alla sera Giacobbe dalla campagna, uscì incontro a lui Lia, e: Meco, disse, verrai: perché ti ho caparrato col prezzo delle mandragore del mio figliuolo. Ed egli si dormì con lei quella notte.

Y cuando Jacob volvía del campo á la tarde, salió Lea á él, y le dijo: A mí has de entrar, porque á la verdad te he alquilado por las mandrágoras de mi hijo. Y durmió con ella aquella noche.

And Jacob came out of the field in the evening, and Leah went out to meet him, and said, Thou must come in unto me; for surely I have hired thee with my son’s mandrakes. And he lay with her that night.

Jacob came from the field in the evening, and Leah went out to meet him, and said, “You must come in to me; for I have surely hired you with my son’s mandrakes.” He lay with her that night.

E il Signore esaudì le preghiere di lei: e concepì, e partorì il quinto figliuolo,

Y oyó Dios á Lea: y concibió, y parió á Jacob el quinto hijo.

And God hearkened unto Leah, and she conceived, and bare Jacob the fifth son.

God listened to Leah, and she conceived, and bore Jacob a fifth son.

E disse: Il Signore mi ha renduta mercede, perché diedi la mia schiava a mio marito: e gli diede il nome d'Issachar.

Y dijo Lea: Dios me ha dado mi recompensa, por cuanto dí mi sierva á mi marido: por eso llamó su nombre Issachâr.

And Leah said, God hath given me my hire, because I have given my maiden to my husband: and she called his name Issachar.

Leah said, “God has given me my hire, because I gave my servant to my husband.” She named him Issachar.

E di bel nuovo Lia concepì, e partorì il sesto figliuolo,

Y concibió Lea otra vez, y parió el sexto hijo á Jacob.

And Leah conceived again, and bare Jacob the sixth son.

Leah conceived again, and bore a sixth son to Jacob.

E disse: Il Signore mi ha dotata di buona dote: anche questa volta si starà con me il mio marito per avergli io fatti sei figliuoli: e per questo chiamollo col nome di Zabulon.

Y dijo Lea: Dios me ha dado una buena dote: ahora morará conmigo mi marido, porque le he parido seis hijos: y llamó su nombre Zabulón.

And Leah said, God hath endued me with a good dowry; now will my husband dwell with me, because I have born him six sons: and she called his name Zebulun.

Leah said, “God has endowed me with a good dowry. Now my husband will live with me, because I have borne him six sons.” She named him Zebulun.

Dopo di questo partorì una figlia per nome Dina.

Y después parió una hija, y llamó su nombre Dina.

And afterwards she bare a daughter, and called her name Dinah.

Afterwards, she bore a daughter, and named her Dinah.

Ricordatosi il Signore anche di Rachele la esaudì, e la rendé feconda.

Y acordóse Dios de Rachêl, y oyóla Dios, y abrió su matriz.

And God remembered Rachel, and God hearkened to her, and opened her womb.

God remembered Rachel, and God listened to her, and opened her womb.

E concepì, e partorì un figliuolo, dicendo: Il Signore ha tolto il mio obbrobrio.

Y concibió, y parió un hijo: y dijo: Quitado ha Dios mi afrenta:

And she conceived, and bare a son; and said, God hath taken away my reproach:

She conceived, bore a son, and said, “God has taken away my reproach.”

E chiamollo col nome di Giuseppe, dicendo: Il Signore diami ancora un altro figliuolo.

Y llamó su nombre José, diciendo: Añádame Jehová otro hijo.

And she called his name Joseph; and said, The LORD shall add to me another son.

She named him Joseph, saying, “May the LORD add another son to me.”

Ma nato che fu Giuseppe, disse Giacobbe al suo suocero: Dammi licenza, che io me ne torni alla patria, e nella mia terra.

Y aconteció, cuando Rachêl hubo parido á José, que Jacob dijo á Labán: Envíame, é iré á mi lugar, y á mi tierra.

And it came to pass, when Rachel had born Joseph, that Jacob said unto Laban, Send me away, that I may go unto mine own place, and to my country.

When Rachel had borne Joseph, Jacob said to Laban, “Send me away, that I may go to my own place, and to my country.

Dammi le mogli, e i miei figliuoli, per li quali sono stato a' tuoi servigi, affinché io me ne vada: tu sai qual sorte di servigio sia stato il mio.

Dame mis mujeres y mis hijos, por las cuales he servido contigo, y déjame ir; pues tú sabes los servicios que te he hecho.

Give me my wives and my children, for whom I have served thee, and let me go: for thou knowest my service which I have done thee.

Give me my wives and my children for whom I have served you, and let me go; for you know my service with which I have served you.”

Disse a lui Laban: Possa io trovar grazia dinanzi a te: io ho conosciuto alla prova, che Dio mi ha benedetto per causa tua.

Y Labán le respondió: Halle yo ahora gracia en tus ojos, y quédate; experimentado he que Jehová me ha bendecido por tu causa.

And Laban said unto him, I pray thee, if I have found favour in thine eyes, tarry: for I have learned by experience that the LORD hath blessed me for thy sake.

Laban said to him, “If now I have found favor in your eyes, stay here, for I have divined that the LORD has blessed me for your sake.”

Determina tu la ricompensa, ch'io debba darti.

Y dijo: Señálame tu salario, que yo lo daré.

And he said, Appoint me thy wages, and I will give it.

He said, “Appoint me your wages, and I will give it.”

Ma quegli rispose: Tu sai in qual modo ti ho servito, e quanto sieno augumentati nelle mani mie i tuoi beni.

Y él respondió: Tú sabes cómo te he servido, y cómo ha estado tu ganado conmigo;

And he said unto him, Thou knowest how I have served thee, and how thy cattle was with me.

Jacob said to him, “You know how I have served you, and how your livestock have fared with me.

Poco tu avevi prima ch'io venissi a te: ora sei divenuto ricco: e il Signore ti ha benedetto alla mia venuta. È adunque giusto, che io pensi una volta anche alla casa mia.

Porque poco tenías antes de mi venida, y ha crecido en gran número; y Jehová te ha bendecido con mi llegada: y ahora ¿cuándo tengo de hacer yo también por mi propia casa?

For it was little which thou hadst before I came, and it is now increased unto a multitude; and the LORD hath blessed thee since my coming: and now when shall I provide for mine own house also?

For it was little which you had before I came, and it has increased to a multitude. The LORD has blessed you wherever I turned. Now when will I provide for my own house also?”

E Laban gli disse: Che ti darò io? Ma quegli replicò: Non voglio nulla ma se farai quello ch'io chiedo, pascerò di nuovo le tue pecore, e n'avrò cura,

Y él dijo: ¿Qué te daré? Y respondió Jacob: No me des nada: si hicieres por mí esto, volveré á apacentar tus ovejas.

And he said, What shall I give thee? And Jacob said, Thou shalt not give me any thing: if thou wilt do this thing for me, I will again feed and keep thy flock:

Laban said, “What shall I give you?” Jacob said, “You shall not give me anything. If you will do this thing for me, I will again feed your flock and keep it.

Raduna insieme tutti i tuoi greggi, e metti da parte tutte le pecore variegate, e macchiate di pelame: e tutto quello che verrà fosco, e macchiato, e vario tanto di pecore, che di capre, sarà la mia mercede.

Yo pasaré hoy por todas tus ovejas, poniendo aparte todas las reses manchadas y de color vario, y todas las reses de color oscuro entre las ovejas, y las manchadas y de color vario entre las cabras; y esto será mi salario.

I will pass through all thy flock to day, removing from thence all the speckled and spotted cattle, and all the brown cattle among the sheep, and the spotted and speckled among the goats: and of such shall be my hire.

I will pass through all your flock today, removing from there every speckled and spotted one, and every black one among the sheep, and the spotted and speckled among the goats. This will be my hire.

E parlerà un dì a mio favore la mia fedeltà, allorché verrà il tempo concordato tra noi: e tutto quello che non sarà di vario colore, o macchiato, o fosco tanto di pecore, come di capre, mi dimostrerà reo di furto.

Así responderá por mí mi justicia mañana, cuando me viniere mi salario delante de ti: toda la que no fuere pintada ni manchada en las cabras y de color oscuro en las ovejas mías, se me ha de tener por de hurto.

So shall my righteousness answer for me in time to come, when it shall come for my hire before thy face: every one that is not speckled and spotted among the goats, and brown among the sheep, that shall be counted stolen with me.

So my righteousness will answer for me hereafter, when you come concerning my hire that is before you. Every one that is not speckled and spotted among the goats, and black among the sheep, that might be with me, will be considered stolen.”

Disse Laban: Mi piace quello che domandi.

Y dijo Labán: Mira, ojalá fuese como tú dices.

And Laban said, Behold, I would it might be according to thy word.

Laban said, “Behold, let it be according to your word.”

E quel giorno separò le capre, e le pecore, e i capri e i montoni di vario colore, e macchiati: e tutto il gregge di un sol colore, cioè di bianco, e nero pelame lo diede in governo de' suoi figliuoli.

Y apartó aquel día los machos de cabrío rayados y manchados; y todas las cabras manchadas y de color vario, y toda res que tenía en sí algo de blanco, y todas las de color oscuro entre las ovejas, y púsolas en manos de sus hijos;

And he removed that day the he goats that were ringstraked and spotted, and all the she goats that were speckled and spotted, and every one that had some white in it, and all the brown among the sheep, and gave them into the hand of his sons.

That day, he removed the male goats that were streaked and spotted, and all the female goats that were speckled and spotted, every one that had white in it, and all the black ones among the sheep, and gave them into the hand of his sons.

E pose una distanza di tre giorni di viaggio tra sé, e il genero, il quale pascolava il rimanente de' suoi greggi.

Y puso tres días de camino entre sí y Jacob: y Jacob apacentaba las otras ovejas de Labán.

And he set three days’ journey betwixt himself and Jacob: and Jacob fed the rest of Laban’s flocks.

He set three days’ journey between himself and Jacob, and Jacob fed the rest of Laban’s flocks.

Prese adunque Giacobbe delle verghe di pioppo verdi, e di mandorlo, e di platano, e ne levò parte della corteccia, levata la quale, dove le verghe erano spogliate, spiccò il bianco: e dove non erano state toccate rimasero verdi: onde in tal guisa risultò vario colore.

Y tomóse Jacob varas de álamo verdes, y de avellano, y de castaño, y descortezó en ellas mondaduras blancas, descubriendo así lo blanco de las varas.

And Jacob took him rods of green poplar, and of the hazel and chesnut tree; and pilled white strakes in them, and made the white appear which was in the rods.

Jacob took to himself rods of fresh poplar, almond, and plane tree, peeled white streaks in them, and made the white appear which was in the rods.

E le pose ne' canali, dove gettavasi l'acqua, affinché venute a bere le pecore, avesser dinanzi agli occhi le verghe, e concepissero rimirandole.

Y puso las varas que había mondado en las pilas, delante del ganado, en los abrevaderos del agua donde venían á beber las ovejas, las cuales se recalentaban viniendo á beber.

And he set the rods which he had pilled before the flocks in the gutters in the watering troughs when the flocks came to drink, that they should conceive when they came to drink.

He set the rods which he had peeled opposite the flocks in the watering troughs where the flocks came to drink. They conceived when they came to drink.

Ed avvenne, che le pecore in calore miravano le verghe, e figliavano agnelli con macchie, e pezzati, e sparsi di vario colore.

Y concebían las ovejas delante de las varas, y parían borregos listados, pintados y salpicados de diversos colores.

And the flocks conceived before the rods, and brought forth cattle ringstraked, speckled, and spotted.

The flocks conceived before the rods, and the flocks produced streaked, speckled, and spotted.

E Giacobbe divise il gregge, e pose le verghe nei canali davanti agli occhi degli arieti: ed erano di Laban tutti i bianchi, e i neri: gli altri poi tutti di Giacobbe, avendo i greggi separati tra loro.

Y apartaba Jacob los corderos, y poníalos con su rebaño, los listados, y todo lo que era oscuro en el hato de Labán. Y ponía su hato aparte, y no lo ponía con las ovejas de Labán.

And Jacob did separate the lambs, and set the faces of the flocks toward the ringstraked, and all the brown in the flock of Laban; and he put his own flocks by themselves, and put them not unto Laban’s cattle.

Jacob separated the lambs, and set the faces of the flocks toward the streaked and all the black in Laban’s flock. He put his own droves apart, and didn’t put them into Laban’s flock.

Quando adunque alla primavera dovean concepire le pecore, mettea Giacobbe le verghe ne' canali dell'acqua dinanzi agli occhi dei montoni, e delle pecore, affinché queste concepissero in guardandole:

Y sucedía que cuantas veces se recalentaban las tempranas, Jacob ponía las varas delante de las ovejas en las pilas, para que concibiesen á la vista de las varas.

And it came to pass, whensoever the stronger cattle did conceive, that Jacob laid the rods before the eyes of the cattle in the gutters, that they might conceive among the rods.

Whenever the stronger of the flock conceived, Jacob laid the rods in front of the eyes of the flock in the watering troughs, that they might conceive among the rods;

Al tempo poi, in cui le pecore concepiscono, e portano per la seconda volta, non metteva le verghe. E le pecore della seconda eran di Laban: quelle poi della prima figliatura erano di Giacobbe.

Y cuando venían las ovejas tardías, no las ponía: así eran las tardías para Labán, y las tempranas para Jacob.

But when the cattle were feeble, he put them not in: so the feebler were Laban’s, and the stronger Jacob’s.

but when the flock were feeble, he didn’t put them in. So the feebler were Laban’s, and the stronger Jacob’s.

E questi si fece ricco formisura, e fece acquisto di molti greggi, di serve, e servi, e di cammelli, e asini. Giacobbe per comando del Signore parte nascostamente con tutta la sua famiglia per tornare al padre. Laban gli corre dietro. Rachele, che avea rubati gli idoli del padre, delude con astuzia Laban, che li cercava. Finalmente, dopo varie querele, e altercazioni, Giacobbe e Laban fatta alleanza, se ne vanno alle case loro.

Y acreció el varón muy mucho, y tuvo muchas ovejas, y siervas y siervos, y camellos y asnos.

And the man increased exceedingly, and had much cattle, and maidservants, and menservants, and camels, and asses.

The man increased exceedingly, and had large flocks, female servants and male servants, and camels and donkeys.
