1So wurden vollendet der Himmel und die Erde mit ihrem ganzen Heer.
2Und Gott vollendete am siebenten Tage sein Werk, das er gemacht hatte, und ruhte am siebenten Tage von all seinem Werk, das er gemacht hatte.
3Und Gott segnete den siebenten Tag und erklärte ihn für heilig, weil er an ihm geruht hat von all seinem Werk, das er geschaffen und gemacht hatte.
4Das ist die Geschichte der Entstehung des Himmels und der Erde, als sie geschaffen wurden. Zur Zeit, als Jahwe Gott Erde und Himmel machte -
5es gab aber auf Erden noch gar kein Gesträuch auf den Fluren und noch sproßten keine Pflanzen auf den Fluren; denn Jahwe Gott hatte noch nicht regnen lassen auf die Erde, und Menschen waren noch nicht da, um den Boden zu bebauen;
6es stieg aber ein Nebel von der Erde auf und tränkte die ganze Oberfläche des Erdbodens -
7da bildete Jahwe Gott den Menschen aus Erde vom Ackerboden und blies in seine Nase Lebensodem; so wurde der Mensch ein lebendiges Wesen.
8Hierauf pflanzte Jahwe Gott einen Garten in Eden im fernen Osten und setzte dorthin den Menschen, den er gebildet hatte.
9Und Jahwe Gott ließ allerlei Bäume aus dem Boden emporwachsen, die lieblich anzusehen und deren Früchte wohlschmeckend waren, und den Baum des Lebens mitten im Garten und den Baum der Erkenntnis des Guten und Bösen.
10Und ein Strom ging aus von Eden, den Garten zu bewässern; alsdann teilte er sich und zwar in vier Arme.
11Der erste heißt Pison; das ist der, welcher das ganze Land Havila umfließt, woselbst sich das Gold findet.
12Und das Gold dieses Landes ist vortrefflich; dort finden sich auch Bedolachharz und Schohamsteine.
13Und der zweite Strom heißt Gihon; das ist der, welcher das ganze Land Kusch umfließt.
14Und der dritte Strom heißt Hiddekel; das ist der, welcher auf der Vorderseite von Assur fließt; und der vierte Strom, das ist der Euphrat.
15Da nahm Jahwe Gott den Menschen und setzte ihn in den Garten Eden, ihn zu bebauen und zu bewachen.
16Und Jahwe Gott gebot dem Menschen und sprach: Von allen Bäumen des Gartens kannst du nach Belieben essen;
17aber von dem Baum der Erkenntnis des Guten und Bösen - von dem darfst du nicht essen; denn sobald du von ihm issest, muß du sterben!
18Und Jahwe Gott sprach: Es ist nicht gut für den Menschen, daß er allein sei; ich will ihm einen Beistand schaffen, wie er für ihn paßt.
19Da bildete Jahwe Gott aus der Erde alle Tiere des Feldes und alle Vögel des Himmels und brachte sie zum Menschen, um zu sehen, wie er sie benennen würde; und ganz, wie der Mensch sie, die lebendigen Wesen, benennen würde, so sollten sie heißen.
20Da gab der Mensch allem Vieh und allen Vögeln des Himmels und allen Tieren des Feldes Namen; aber für einen Menschen fand er keinen Beistand, der für ihn gepaßt hätte.
21Da ließ Jahwe Gott einen tiefen Schlaf auf den Menschen fallen; und als er entschlafen war, nahm er eine von seinen Rippen und füllte ihre Stelle mit Fleisch aus.
22Alsdann gestaltete Jahwe Gott die Rippe, die er von dem Menschen genommen hatte, zu einem Weibe und brachte sie zu dem Menschen.
23Da sprach der Mensch: Diese endlich ist Gebein von meinem Gebein und Fleisch von meinem Fleisch; die soll Männin heißen, denn einem Mann ist sie entnommen!
24Darum verläßt einer seinen Vater und seine Mutter, um seinem Weibe anzuhangen, so daß sie zu einem Leibe werden.
25Und sie waren beide nackt, der Mensch und sein Weib, und schämten sich nicht vor einander.

1Y FUERON acabados los cielos y la tierra, y todo su ornamento.
2Y acabó Dios en el día séptimo su obra que hizo, y reposó el día séptimo de toda su obra que había hecho.
3Y bendijo Dios al día séptimo, y santificólo, porque en él reposó de toda su obra que había Dios criado y hecho.
4Estos son los orígenes de los cielos y de la tierra cuando fueron criados, el día que Jehová Dios hizo la tierra y los cielos,
5Y toda planta del campo antes que fuese en la tierra, y toda hierba del campo antes que naciese: porque aun no había Jehová Dios hecho llover sobre la tierra, ni había hombre para que labrase la tierra;
6Mas subía de la tierra un vapor, que regaba toda la faz de la tierra.
7Formó, pues, Jehová Dios al hombre del polvo de la tierra, y alentó en su nariz soplo de vida; y fué el hombre en alma viviente.
8Y había Jehová Dios plantado un huerto en Edén al oriente, y puso allí al hombre que había formado.
9Y había Jehová Dios hecho nacer de la tierra todo árbol delicioso á la vista, y bueno para comer: también el árbol de vida en medio del huerto, y el árbol de ciencia del bien y del mal.
10Y salía de Edén un río para regar el huerto, y de allí se repartía en cuatro ramales.
11El nombre del uno era Pisón: éste es el que cerca toda la tierra de Havilah, donde hay oro:
12Y el oro de aquella tierra es bueno: hay allí también bdelio y piedra cornerina.
13El nombre del segundo río es Gihón: éste es el que rodea toda la tierra de Etiopía.
14Y el nombre del tercer río es Hiddekel: éste es el que va delante de Asiria. Y el cuarto río es el Eufrates.
15Tomó, pues, Jehová Dios al hombre, y le puso en el huerto de Edén, para que lo labrara y lo guardase.
16Y mandó Jehová Dios al hombre, diciendo: De todo árbol del huerto comerás;
17Mas del árbol de ciencia del bien y del mal no comerás de él; porque el día que de él comieres, morirás.
18Y dijo Jehová Dios: No es bueno que el hombre esté solo; haréle ayuda idónea para él.
19Formó, pues, Jehová Dios de la tierra toda bestia del campo, y toda ave de los cielos, y trájolas á Adam, para que viese cómo les había de llamar; y todo lo que Adam llamó á los animales vivientes, ese es su nombre.
20Y puso Adam nombres á toda bestia y ave de los cielos y á todo animal del campo: mas para Adam no halló ayuda que estuviese idónea para él.
21Y Jehová Dios hizo caer sueño sobre Adam, y se quedó dormido: entonces tomó una de sus costillas, y cerró la carne en su lugar;
22Y de la costilla que Jehová Dios tomó del hombre, hizo una mujer, y trájola al hombre.
23Y dijo Adam: Esto es ahora hueso de mis huesos, y carne de mi carne: ésta será llamada Varona, porque del varón fué tomada.
24Por tanto, dejará el hombre á su padre y á su madre, y allegarse ha á su mujer, y serán una sola carne.
25Y estaban ambos desnudos, Adam y su mujer, y no se avergonzaban.

1Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
2And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
3And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
4These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,
5And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.
6But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.
7And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
8And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.
9And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
10And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads.
11The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold;
12And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone.
13And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia.
14And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates.
15And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
16And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
17But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
18And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
19And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.
20And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.
21And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
22And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
23And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
24Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
25And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

1The heavens, the earth, and all their vast array were finished.
2On the seventh day God finished his work which he had done; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had done.
3God blessed the seventh day, and made it holy, because he rested in it from all his work of creation which he had done.
4This is the history of the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens.
5No plant of the field was yet in the earth, and no herb of the field had yet sprung up; for the LORD God had not caused it to rain on the earth. There was not a man to till the ground,
6but a mist went up from the earth, and watered the whole surface of the ground.
7The LORD God formed man from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
8The LORD God planted a garden eastward, in Eden, and there he put the man whom he had formed.
9Out of the ground the LORD God made every tree to grow that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food, including the tree of life in the middle of the garden and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
10A river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from there it was parted, and became the source of four rivers.
11The name of the first is Pishon: it flows through the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold;
12and the gold of that land is good. Bdellium and onyx stone are also there.
13The name of the second river is Gihon. It is the same river that flows through the whole land of Cush.
14The name of the third river is Hiddekel. This is the one which flows in front of Assyria. The fourth river is the Euphrates.
15The LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate and keep it.
16The LORD God commanded the man, saying, “You may freely eat of every tree of the garden;
17but you shall not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil; for in the day that you eat of it, you will surely die.”
18The LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make him a helper comparable to him.”
19Out of the ground the LORD God formed every animal of the field, and every bird of the sky, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them. Whatever the man called every living creature became its name.
20The man gave names to all livestock, and to the birds of the sky, and to every animal of the field; but for man there was not found a helper comparable to him.
21The LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep. As the man slept, he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place.
22The LORD God made a woman from the rib which he had taken from the man, and brought her to the man.
23The man said, “This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh. She will be called ‘woman,’ because she was taken out of Man.”
24Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh.
25The man and his wife were both naked, and they were not ashamed.
