Dessa forma foi concluída a criação dos céus e da terra, com tudo que neles existe.

Y FUERON acabados los cielos y la tierra, y todo su ornamento.

Ainda não havia vegetação, nem semente que houvesse brotado da terra, porque o Senhor Deus ainda não havia feito chover sobre a terra, e também não havia seres humanos para cultivar a terra.

O terceiro braço é o rio Tigre, que corre pelo lado leste da Assíria. E o quarto braço é o rio Eufrates.

And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates.

O Senhor Deus colocou o homem no jardim do Éden para cuidar dele e o cultivar.

Tomó, pues, Jehová Dios al hombre, y le puso en el huerto de Edén, para que lo labrara y lo guardase.

Depois disse o Senhor Deus: “Não é bom que o homem fique sozinho. Vou fazer para ele uma companheira, uma auxiliadora que lhe corresponda”.

Y dijo Jehová Dios: No es bueno que el hombre esté solo; haréle ayuda idónea para él.

And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.

Depois de ter formado da terra toda espécie de animais e aves, o Senhor Deus os trouxe ao homem para ver que nome daria a eles.

Formó, pues, Jehová Dios de la tierra toda bestia del campo, y toda ave de los cielos, y trájolas á Adam, para que viese cómo les había de llamar; y todo lo que Adam llamó á los animales vivientes, ese es su nombre.

And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.

Assim o homem deu nomes a todos os animais domésticos, às aves do céu e aos animais selvagens. No entanto, o homem não encontrou uma companheira que lhe correspondesse.

Y puso Adam nombres á toda bestia y ave de los cielos y á todo animal del campo: mas para Adam no halló ayuda que estuviese idónea para él.

And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.

The man gave names to all livestock, and to the birds of the sky, and to every animal of the field; but for man there was not found a helper comparable to him.

Então o Senhor Deus fez o homem cair em um sono profundo. Enquanto este dormia, tirou uma das costelas dele e fechou o lugar em que ficava a costela.

Y Jehová Dios hizo caer sueño sobre Adam, y se quedó dormido: entonces tomó una de sus costillas, y cerró la carne en su lugar;

And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;

The LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep. As the man slept, he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place.

Dessa costela o Senhor Deus fez uma mulher e a levou ao homem.

Y de la costilla que Jehová Dios tomó del hombre, hizo una mujer, y trájola al hombre.

And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

The LORD God made a woman from the rib which he had taken from the man, and brought her to the man.

Então o homem disse: “Esta, sim, é parte dos meus ossos e da minha carne. Ela será chamada mulher, porque foi tirada do homem”.

Y dijo Adam: Esto es ahora hueso de mis huesos, y carne de mi carne: ésta será llamada Varona, porque del varón fué tomada.

And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

The man said, “This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh. She will be called ‘woman,’ because she was taken out of Man.”

Esta é a razão pela qual o homem deixa o seu pai e a sua mãe e se une à sua mulher, e os dois se tornam um só ser.

Por tanto, dejará el hombre á su padre y á su madre, y allegarse ha á su mujer, y serán una sola carne.

Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

Ambos, o homem e a mulher, estavam nus, mas não sentiam vergonha.
